[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44595] EDITING: Crashing Libre Office by changing font

2012-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44595

OK! I can now reproduce this bug consistently!

Again just as a refresher - Libre Office v3.6.3.2, build ID: 58f22d5
Windows 7, 64-bit

Steps to reproduce:

1 - Open LibreOffice Writer.

2 - Hit Ctrl+N to open a second new document.

3 - In the second document, click the down arrow on the Font ComboBox in order
to choose a new font (on my system, the default font is 'Times New Roman').

4 - Observe the LO crash. This crash occurs instantly on clicking in the
combobox, whether or not you release the mouse button.

5 - If the documents are recovered, attempting to choose a new font will repeat
the crash cycle.

Hopefully this will help someone to reproduce the error on a similar system.
Thank you for your time/efforts.

- Adam

Steps how to reproduce:

1. Open Attachment 71764 for Bug 58484 from LibO Start Center
2. Expand all column groups
Expected: columns with bold headings (T, Z, AB, ...) should also show
numbers
in column below heading in bold (so it does in LibO 3.5.7.2 and
 LibO 3.6.4.3)
Actual: not bold, and 'bold' icon in 'Formatting' toolbar not active when
   cell cursor on cell

Regression because that worked fine with 3.6.4.3

We will have to check where that problem started

Here is my callgrind profile:
http://ubuntuone.com/2hO2QPQ8nOEaKroYfpi8OP

I'm not a programmer (at all), so I'm really not sure if I did this right, or
even if it's useful at all. I just let it run for a while then quit. Was I
supposed to manually open the file (Writer didn't open up for me when I ran the
command)? Please let me know if I need to do things differently. I'm still
using Ubuntu 12.04 and LO 4.0.0.0.beta1.

Also, I didn't realize this before, but when Writer opens a big file, it not
only freezes but uses 100% of the CPU during that period, but continues to do
so once the file is open and editable for another a minute or two.

thanks for report.
Please can you upload the file in the xlsx format.
But remember this is a public site, so please first remove any private content.
Even better reduce up to let in the file only the relevant cells to see the

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58433

@Lucian Oprea
I understand your concern, and I agree about what users can think about this
issue.
The problem is that we can't change what M$Office has decide to correctly read
and what it want to reject instead.
Also Word is proprietary software, so we don't know why that message is
displayed (are them trying to read a correct file the wrong way?).
If word would work in the right way, you should complain with M$ that their
import filter is broken and/or does not implement ODF 1.2.
The only "fix" LiBo could do were if you could demonstrate that we save the
file contrary to the Open Document Format specifications, that is not the case.
You can only demonstrate that some version of M$Office is broken with some
version of ODF.
An interesting info could maybe be if a file like the attached saved with LiBo
3.6.x as .odt is correctly read and the same file, with the same format, saved
with LiBo 4.0 is not.

I've tested with a different word processor software, and it works as the
reporter expects, and that seems mote intuitive to me too.
LibreOffice 3.x or 4.x have this bug instead.
I understand the technical reason (copy the format) but of course users don't
think in the "implementation way" but in the meaningful logical way, or the way
you would to if done manually.
In fact the command is "insert a new row" not "clone the current one", so if I
insert a row under the one with 1 as numbered paragraph, I expect it to be
numbered 2, not 1 again.

(I hope I am not hijacking this bug with another problem here. That said, I've
changed the name of it from "EDITING: Bug in Count number")

So, the problem seems to be that interpunction, when standing separated from
words by line breaks and (unprotected!) spaces, is counted as words.
For example, the text

! . –

is counted as three words.

I can reproduce this behaviour on LibreOffice 4.0 beta 1, Windows 8

I've tested with the 2003 version of a different office suite.
Some of the insert/delete cell options can be achieved inserting/removing
rows/columns, but there are some that can not, or are not so convenient.
I've created a table with 5 rows and 3 columns, see attachments, and I put the
cursor on the row 3, column 3.
In the other program we have something like:
Table -> Insert -> Cells...
- "move cells right" produces current row with 4 columns, the other rows
unchanged! (cell_insert_move_right.png)
- "move cells down" adds a cell in the current position, moves below cells down
adding a row at the bottom of the table (with first and last column empty)
(cell_insert_move_down.png)
- "insert whole row" inserts an entire row above current one
- "insert whole column" inserts a column on the left of the current one

Table -> Delete -> Cells...
- "move cells to the left" removes current cell and produces row 3 with only 2
columns, other rows unchanged (you have a "hole") (cell_remove_move_left.png)
- "move cells up" removes the current cell and moves below cells upward
(cell_remove_move_up.png)

With Calc 4.0 and older I've not found such features.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58490

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58490
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: when a colour scale is edited using CF →
Manage then any custom colours are reset to the
defaults spontaneously
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: john.pr...@cantab.net
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta1
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: when a colour scale is edited using CF → Manage then any
custom colours are reset to the defaults spontaneously

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a conditional format with a colourscale (2 or 3 entries) and change
the default to colours to other colours
2. Select: Format -> Conditional Formatting -> Manage...
3. Select the conditional formatting
4. Select: Edit...

Current behavior: the colours have spontaneously changed back to the default
colours and if the dialogue is closed then this change is made to the
formatting

Expected behavior: no changes occur when the dialogue is opened and closed

Additional observation: a similar problem occurs with databars - see bug 58487
Operating System: Windows XP
Version: 4.0.0.0.beta1

Problem description: when a colour scale is edited using CF → Manage the
condition category changes spontaneously

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a conditional format with a colourscale (3 entries) and set the
condition type to 'Percentile' for all 3 conditions; enter values such as 10,
50, 90 respectively.
2. Select: Format -> Conditional Formatting -> Manage...
3. Select the conditional formatting
4. Select: Edit...

Current behavior: the conditions have spontaneously changed to 'value' from
'percentile' and if the dialogue is closed then this change is made to the
formatting

Expected behavior: no changes occur when the dialogue is opened and closed

Additional observation: reopening and closing the dialogue results in the
condition types moving one down the list each time until 'formula' is reached.
Is this because there is not 'automatic' at the top, unlike databars?

Any chance you can try the same build on an older Ubuntu; as Markus says it
does look a little like that other bug. Can you do:

pkill -9 -f soffice.bin
strace -f -s 256 -ttt -o /tmp/slog soffice -writer

and gzip & attach /tmp/slog as/when the file open fails ? it would be nice to
have some 'mount' output, and (if you're using it) details on your FUSE version
/ file-system setup.

Thanks ! :-)

Still occurs with 3.6.4.3 in exactly the same manner. Using GNU tar 1.18
(without support for .xz compressed tarballs). "make" succeeds but should fail,
"make install" fails with cryptic error.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta1
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

The problem appears to be that it automatically fills the colour boxes on the
'More options...' dialogue with the default colours. These are then saved when
the dialogue is closed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Enter values from -4 to 5 in cells A1:A10
2. Select cells A1:A10
3. Select: Format → Conditional Formatting → Data Bar...
4. Select: More options...
5. Edit the positive colour to light green.
6. Select: Format → Conditional Formatting → Manage...
7. Select the existing conditional formatting
8. Select: Edit...
9. Select: More options... (NB: the positive colour has been changed to light
blue)
10. Close each dialogue in turn

Current behavior: The colour of the positive numbers changes to blue

Expected behavior: The dialogue displays the colours as they are currently set
(see step 9) and the colours do not change when the dialogues are closed.

Workaround:
Change the colours back to those desired every time the 'More options...'
dialogue is opened.

Problem description: The 'More options...' dialogue for databars is not usable

that it automatically fills the box on the 'More options...' dialogue adjacent

greyed out. The problem does not occur with 'min' or 'max' and these do not
automatically contain a number.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select a cell
2. Select: Format → Conditional Formatting → Data Bar...
3. Select: More options...
4. This dialogue cannot now be closed without changing options.

Current behavior: Error message: “Min value must be smaller than max value!”

Opening test_paragraphlines_002.docx from the command line, I have

built and executing on ubuntu-natty (11.04) 32-bit. The attached
typescript is from master.

As I can make the segfault happen, I am rewriting the bug summary to
just the segfault and setting bug status CONFIRMED.

Juan Matías,

I am unclear in my mind about how the lost paragraph lines that you
reported here relate to fdo#58469. If you are in fact reporting
different incorrect behaviours, feel free to open another bug report
with the problem that I am leaving out of this one.

And, by the way I am not exactly ignoring your receint contributions
to fdo#58460; just not sure that I have anything useful to write.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58086] FILESAVE: Some footnotes lost after filesave to docx

2012-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58086

NOT reproduced on libo 4 Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID:
6d4a55bf38a1c470c49f904dbbddf94eb2f6154)

Notes are present in DOCX document.
What I have try :
- Export to docx => last note "554 S. BERNARD, De consider. 2,8 PL 182,751"
- Open ODT file directly with Word2010 => same last note.

RESTART at every chapter is not converted by Libo,
but is not converted too by Word2010...
Strange...

If this cannot be done via website interface, changing the underlying code,
could you please at least hardcode it for Slovenian site (sl.libreoffice.org)?

Example using a transparency gradient on a Bitmap background

Create an ellipse/circle/losange with a Bitmap for background.
Apply a transparency effect with a gradient on the new object.
Export as a PDF.

In the PDF, a rectangle containing the Bitmap can be seen with the shape of the
object draw inside.
This doesn't happen while exporting to other format.

This bug is absent from Apache OpenOffice 3.4.

None is for me something different then Not sure. But I want to change this
anyway. I just need to see how I can do that. I want a check-box if the bug is
a regression and when the check-box is enabled then I want to show the
select-box.

Due to the change I want I don't think this would be necessary then.

Bug ID: 58477

Summary: EDITING, FORMATTING: No automatic line break after
hyphen
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: jo...@freesources.org
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I discovered a regression in LibreOffice Writer 3.6.2.2 (Ubuntu 12.10):

In 3.5, a line break was added after hyphens, if this was reasonable for
formatting. This no longer is the case in 3.6.2.2. In other words, hyphens in
words now are treated as if they were non-breaking dashs. I confirmed that
other Ubuntu 12.10 users have the same issue.

It's easy to reproduce this bug: write something in a new Writer document. At
the end of a line, write a long word that doesn't match into the line. Add a
simple hyphen (neither a protected/non-breaking dash, nor a definitive
seperator) to the word. In earlier versions of LibreOffice, the line break was
added behind the hyphen. Now, it's added in front of the full longword.

Kind regards,
 jonas

Could not confirm this bug with a similar, but simpler test file.
