Currently it looks as if Mac LibO is lacking this function.

Additional there might be a Help problem, but I d not know whether Mac has it's
own Help texts different from WIN Help?

>From where is the Help citation? In WIKIHELP

I only find the non-Mac wording, and in Manual 3.4 "Using Spreadsheets in
LibreOffice" I can't find anything concerning this drag and drop.

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58700

Summary: MAILMERGE: Address Labels 3 column alignment incorrect
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: drjames...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.4 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
When printing with mailmerge on a sheet of labels with 3 columns, the column
spacing is not calculated correctly. Column 1 is more or less OK, but columns 2
and 3 are aligned more and more to the left, so that column 3 does not print on
the label.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a mailmerge with a database of addresses to print on labels.
2. Select Avery Letter Size 5160 labels
3. Print and notice above described behavior.

Current behavior:
As above.
Expected behavior:
I would expect that printing would align the same on labels of all three
columns.

I can confirm the same behavior with Avery Letter Size 5160. The text on the
labels shifts further to the left with each column so that the 3rd column is
not printed on the actual label. I thought the settings might have been entered
incorrectly for Avery 5160. I adjusted the settings that might affect this, but
to no avil after two hours of adjusting.

I've just tested on 3.6.4.3, and this is still happening.

The steps to reproduce for me is pretty simple:

1. copy text from a cell in the formula bar.
2. it freeze for few seconds before you can paste.

Note that the copy is from the forumla bar, or after double click on the cell.
NOT cell to cell copy.

Looks like this may be due to platform or environment the user is in, rather
than the file itself.

again, i'm on WinXP. But google "libreoffice freeze copy" will reveal others on
different platform. Not sure what you can do if you can't reproduce it. May be
review the code, and look for possible cause?

If yes, could you zip it and attach it to the bugtracker?

I have now tried it with a brand new base file and the problem persisted.

I then renamed my directory profile 'old_user' and re-loaded LO. The
problem vanished. I did not have much in my user profile so I've simply
copied over to the new file some templates I'd created and everything is
now fine.

Many thanks for your help.

Have a good Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Sorry but I disagree, there are at least 2 non-trivial use cases where the
current solution is much better than just 1 deb per language.
* If I want to add a secondary Language for spellcheck, I don't want to install
help in that language just spell checking (e.g I need to spellcheck documents
in Portugues but don't speak it fluently enough to understand help files in it)
* I can often Google for help while the helppack is quite large and brings in
extra dependancies (a HTML reader, etc) which I do not want on a minimal
install.

If you think I'm wrong please reopen the bug but as only the current solution
works well for the above use cases I'm clossing 'WONTFIX'.

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58693
  Keywords: regression
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: VIEWING: mysql-database and table names not correct,
SQL-error when opening table
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: j.reit...@concepts.nl
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta2
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When opening a LO-database which links to a Mysql-database, the names of the
database and the name of the table (my db only has one table) is not shown
correctly (see screenshot), and when clicking on the name of the tabel to open
it, it uses that incorrect names in the SQL-query, which of course results in
an SQL-error.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an LO-database in Base, which links to a mysql database.
2. Click on Tables

Current behavior:

The names of the database and the table have unknown symbols in it, and trying
to open a table results in a SQL-error.

Expected behavior:

Correct names of database and table(s) are shown, and clicking on a table name
gives the contents of that table.
Operating System: Linux (Other)

> (I prefer real bugs that crash LibreOffice ;-)

Sorry for the loose wording. What I wanted to say is: IMHO the expected
behaviour, as described by the LibreOffice help in the section “moving cells by
drag and drop”, is so irritating and counter-counterintuitive, at least when we
speak about dragging and dropping whole columns or rows, that I feel frustrated
by judging what is a bug or not, because the expected behaviour feels like a
bug to me ...

So, just tell me if you want me to test more key combinations, and I will
describe my results, but if the results are a bug or not a bug should be judged
by somebody else. (I would just regard the complete expected behaviour as a
bug.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58654] Polish spelling dictionary is missing in the LO install package and LO Extension repository

Urmas, thank you very much for the hint. You are obviously right! All the
dictionaries are there and all are checked for me. I can find the German and
Russian dictionaries there as well. Thank you for your help.
I wish the LO interface was more intuitive as not all users are curious what
'Hunspell SpellChecker' is and want to modify it in order to find something
that is expected to find in much easier way...

As for Russian dictionaries, which are available form the drop down list, there
is 'Lightproof Grammar Checker (ru-Ru)' under Grammar section. The same tool is
listed right below the 'Hunspell SpellChecker' in the 'Writing aids' section.
Don't you think this is inconsistent? To find other dictionaries you have to
select 'Hunspell SpellChecker' in the TOP list, and press 'Modify' button.

> The MIDDLE list is for custom (user) dictionaries.
I see. But could you tell me:
A. What is 'standard' dictionary on the top of this list and why it's unchecked
by default?
B. Why English dictionaries (GB and US ones) are on the middle list and not
allongside German, Polish and Russian ones? I haven't installed it by myself.
This is inconsistent as well.
C. Is the Slovenian dictionary available in other multi-language versions of LO
installer and is it installed by default under user dictionaries as it is in
LibreOffice with Polish UI?

Not sure I can be much use as the bug tracker is more for confirmed bugs rather
than user support
http://en.libreofficeforum.org/forum/start/setup-troubleshooting might be a
better bet.

However as it looks like there is a bug at the bottom of this I'll try.

Can you confirm your version (help > about libreoffice) and what operating
system and version your using

e.g "Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))" and Windows 7

1) Open "Tools">"Options"
2) Select "Language Settings" > "Languages"
3) Check whay is set as "Default Language" for "Western documents"
4) check it has a tick next to it (if it doesn't check which ones do)

Thanks, Juan

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58691] New: PIVOTTABLE: export to Excel 2007/2010 breaks functionality

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58691

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58691
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: PIVOTTABLE: export to Excel 2007/2010 breaks
functionality
  Severity: blocker
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: gm.p...@freenet.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta2
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 72042
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=72042&action=edit
LO Pivottable

I created a pivottable with LO4.000b2. It works with some (less severe)
problems: 1. bad performance with larger data tables (in a pivot table with 450
lines x 230 columns it takes up to 25 sec. to update after using the filter
buttons),
2. column filter buttons become nonfunctional when they exceed the rectangular
cell range of the pivot table (try to use the filter button "Datum" in the
attached "Pivottable_Test.ods").

However, when saving this document as Excel 2007/2010 (XLSX), and reopening,
all pivottable functionality is lost: the table is still there, but without
filter buttons and all the other logic behind. A showstopper! This exported
file also shows the fat cell borders mentioned in #58356.

In my opinion, the Pivottable seems to need a good amount of bugfixing and a
more efficient code for being usable in everyday work. So, please don't add new
features until the existing don't work.

Try this: Go to 'Writing aids' tab, select 'Hunspell SpellChecker' in the TOP
list, and press 'Modify' button; do you see Polish language in the combobox on
top of the new dialog which would open? For it there should be three components
checked: Hunspell SpellChecker, Libhyphen Hyphenator and OpenOffice.org New
Thesaurus. Are they all three available and checked?

The MIDDLE list is for custom (user) dictionaries.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58440] EDITING: moving columns/rows with overwrites instead of ousting

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58440

@ Rainer Bielefeld: thank you very much for your detailed instructions!

Testing with LibreOffice 3.6.4.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel), I get the
following results.

(I) Pressing no keys at all
---

When I follow Rainer’s instructions from comment #5, but do NOT press any key,
i.e. leave out step 2, and just drag column C between column A and B, I would
expect the following result:

   | A | B | C | D | ...
-
1 |a |c |b | | ...

But I get this result:

   | A | B | C | D | ...
-
1 |a |c | | | ...

I.e., the contents of column C overwrite the contents of column b, instead of
ousting them.

But this is not a bug, because the LibreOffice help says (in section “moving
cells by drag and drop”):

No key: Cells are moved and overwrite the cells in the target area.
Source cells are emptied.

Strange, but so it reads, and therefore this is what is expected.

(II) Pressing Alt key
-
Following Rainer’s instructions from comment #5, including keeping the
key pressed during the whole drag-and-drop action, I get the following contents
in Columns A to D after step 7:

   | A | B | C | D | ...
-
1 |a |c |b |c | ...

So column C has been *copied* (not moved) between columns A and B.

On Mac OS, pressing is often used for copying data instead of moving
them. So this could be intended behaviour.

The LibreOffice help says (in section “moving cells by drag and drop”):

Option key Cells are moved and shift the cells in the target area
to the right or to the bottom. Source cells are emptied,
except if you move within the same rows on the same sheet.
If you move within the same rows on the same sheet,
the cells in the target area shift to the right,
and then the whole row shifts to fill the source area.

I confess that IMHO this description is somewhat irritating. There should not
be any “except if...” clauses in descriptions of expected behaviour.
But if I understand the description corectly, the current behaviour is correct:
the “except if you move within the same rows on the same sheet” applies, and so
the source cells are not emptied.

Do you want me to test more key combinations? Until now, I only see irritating
descriptions, but not a bug. But maybe I am just too stupid for this kind of
tests. (I prefer real bugs that crash LibreOffice ;-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58690] New: creating a chart hangs the system.

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58690

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58690
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: creating a chart hangs the system.
  Severity: blocker
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: hlhow...@pacbell.net
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.7.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Starting with this version of Calc (Spreadsheet) any of my technical chargs
hangs the system.

The spreadsheet is always destroyed, so I have to show you the data as below.

Example:

row cell name value
1 a1 phase1 =0/57.3
2-2049  a2=sin(2*PI()*(row()-2)*5/2048+phase1)
1 b1 phase2=0/57.3
2-2049  b2=sin(2*PI()*(row()-2)*100/2048+phase2)
1 c1 phase3=90/57.3
2-2049  c2=sin(2*PI()*(row()-2)*5/2048+phase3)
1 d1 phase4 =90/57.3
2=2049  d2   =sin(2*PI()*(row()-2)*100/2048+phase4)

when done, these will have the numerical representations of 4 sinewaves, 2 at 5
cycles, 2 at 100 cycles

Multiply them to get a double sideband signal:

1 e1DSBI
2:2049 e2=a2*b2
1 f1DSQQ
2:2049 f2 =c2*d2

Add these two waves to get a single sideband wave

1 g1 SSB
2:2049 g2 e2+f2

chart1 show the sigle sideband result:

data series$sheet1.$g1
data range name: $sheet1:$g$11
   yvalues: $sheet1:$g$2:$g$2049

As I finish entering the range and hit return, the sheet hangs for minutes, and
one processor goes to 100% the whole time.

After waiting about 10minutes I terminate the program.

Very interesting:

Bug 57071 (“UI: Freeze when resizing tabs/horizontal scrollbar on OSX with
BetterTouchTool or RightZoom running”) is much older than the present one --
bug 57071 is reproducible since LibreOffice 3.3.0, while the present issue
first appeared in 3.6.2.1 --, but nevertheless the patch for the present issue
seems to have healed bug 57071, too.

Why? Probably the roots of the present bug are much older than 3.6.2.1 (which
is no surprise, of course!), and it was just “hidden” by another bug (namely
bug 47368) until 3.6.2.1.

Good news! While I can still reproduce this bug (on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel),
when RightZoom is installed and active) e.g. in the following master build:

  LOdev 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: e43d62fb39e0b6b3e59b22110460d23b6d507b5)
  TinderBox: MacOSX-Intel@1-built_no-moz_on_10.6.8, Branch:master,
  Time: 2012-12-06_09:19:57

I can NO LONGER reproduce it beginning with this master build:

  LOdev 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 413d1a932eb4c47510dd05905c1ff467cb186d0)
  TinderBox: MacOSX-Intel@1-built_no-moz_on_10.6.8, Branch:master,
  Time: 2012-12-19_04:13:3

^This build is the 1st one which includes the patch for bug 56937. My
observation suggests that the patch for bug 56937 has also fixed the present
bug. This idea is supported by the fact that the stack backtrace for the
current bug (e.g. in attachment 70148) includes the same calls to
  ...
  hitTestRunner(com::sun::star::awt::Point, com::sun::star::uno::Reference
 )
  ScAccessibleTableBase::getAccessibleChild(long)
  ...
which are, according to
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57245#c21
a sign that a bug is a duplicate of bug 56937.

Therefore I mark this bug as a duplicate of bug 56937. That bug, and therefore
also the present bug, should be fixed in LibreOffice 3.6.5 (which will be
released end of January 2013) and 4.0.0, of course.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58687] New: : No 'Unique' formula

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58687

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58687
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: : No 'Unique' formula
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: li...@juancanham.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. create spreadsheet
2. try and use unique to filter some data

Current behaviour:
3. No Unique formula found
4. No obvious way to do this

Expected behavior:
3. formula exists and returns unique values in an array
(e.g Google doc's implementation
https://support.google.com/drive/bin/static.py?hl=en&topic=25273&page=table.cs&tab=1240287
)

While I've read I can reproduce the effect using some strange set up and an
advanced filter, being able to do this simply makes basic data analysis much
easier.
Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 3.6.2.2 release

I reproduced this when using "filename.123" as filename.

But it does not happen always, when you have a period in the filename. For

No, I just copy/paste it myself. But your idea is good: maybe we should create
a little wiki page for it, which we can just link from all such bug reports,
and can edit/improve if new facts appear (e.g. utilities which trigger such
bugs), or to make the text easier to understand ...

When saving a Text document, instead of suggesting "Untitled 1" as filename,
this could be more intelligent.

The suggestion should be based the used styles in an order like this:

- Title
- Heading 1
- Text Body
- Default Style

This means, if the document has a "Title" style, suggest it as filename. If
not, look for "Heading 1", etc.

It should be limited to 3-5 Words or so.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58643] EDITING: Systematic LO 3.6.4 crash on Mac OSX 10.8 using calc

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58643

(In reply to comment #10)
> What Julien means is that you probably have Assistive Technologies enabled,
> e.g. Voiceover, or an app that uses them, such as Zoom/Cinch or something
> similar. Your first trace certainly seems to indicate that, in which case it
> is a duplicate of one we already know about.

Here is my complete standard “questionnaire” for such issues:
---

1) Do you have any accesibility features enabled? Apple’s accessibility
features like “VoiceOver” or “Enable access for assistive devices”, which get
enabled in “System Preferences > Universal Access”, are known to cause many
crashes and freezes in LibreOffice. So please try to disable any accesibility
features, then check if the problem is still reproducible.

2) Do you have installed any window management/user interface
utilities/apps/control panels/extensions for Mac OS X like
   * AquaSnap* BetterSnapTool
   * BetterTouchTool * Breeze
   * Cinch   * Divvy
   * DoublePane  * Flexiglass
   * HyperDock   * iSnap
   * Moom* RightZoom
   * ShiftIt * SizeUp
   * SizeWell* Spectacle
   * Stay* TileWindows
   * WindowTidy... or something similar?

And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little
application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse
curser/pointer, like
   * LazyMouse?

And/or do you use any special software which could be related to accessibility
stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech recognition software,
a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or similar?

All these and many similar utilities rely heavily on Mac OS accessibility
features and therefore can cause LibreOffice to crash or freeze. So please
check if you have installed any utility of this kind and try to disable it
(or to add LibreOffice to the list of excluded applications for the utility,
if there is such a thing).

So please check these possibilities, if any of them helps to make the crash go
away, and report the results here.

Additional hint:
At least your second and third report (about a hang/freeze) is very similar to
the reports attached to bug 57245 and its duplicates. Therefore I *hope* that
the present issue is just another instance of the same underlying problem.

This would mean *good news*: bug 57245 is supposed to be fixed now. The fix
will appear in LibreOffice 3.6.5 (and 4.0.0, of course), and therefore I hope
that the present issue will be fixed in these versions, too.

LibreOffice 3.6.5 will be released about end of January 2013. Until then, I can
only ask you to be patient or, better, to find out which accessibility-related
setting or utility (see my “questionnaire” above) causes the crash, and to
disable this setting or utility.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58654] Polish spelling dictionary is missing in the LO install package and LO Extension repository

2012-12-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58654

> So your problem is that you select the Polish dictionary for install, but it
> doesn't get installed?

I. OK, I'll try to provide a complete procedure to reproduce the bug.
Steps to reproduce:

1. Download LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download
My OS is Windows 7 64bit Polish, so: LibreOffice Windows, version 3.6.4, Polish
is chosen for me to download automatically. If you have a different OS, you
should manually change system, version or language and choose Polish one for
testing purposes.

2. Install the file 'LibO_3.6.4_Win_x86_install_multi' with user defined
options.
Do not change any settings but make sure that in 'Optional
components'/'Dictionaries' there are German, Polish and Russian ones selected
by default (I assume this is a default option when you choose the Standard
installation as well and it doesn't rely on the operating system language
settings on Windows but I might be wrong about it). Continue the installation
with suggested settings.

3. When LO is installed, go to Tools (Narzędzia)/ Options (Opcje)/ Language
settings (Ustawienia językowe) /Writing Aids (Pisownia) and make sure which
dictionaries are installed. There are some English dictionaries (during the
installation process LO claims to install Polish,German and Russian ones!) and
- to my surprise - there is SL-Slovenian dictionary instead of PL-Polish one!
But where are the dictionaries for Polish, German and Russian that were claimed
to be installed during the installation process?

4. Open LO Writer and type a random polish word with spelling mistake. To my
surprise this time the error was underlined (it wasn't in some previous
versions that I tested before) and I was given suggestions to correct it.
After selecting the underlined word I pressed 'F7' and I could choose the
language for the text with the following options: Polish, German (3 variants of
dictionaries), and Russian.
Eureka!
It seems that spell checker for Polish works with this version for me, and I've
finally found the dictionaries that I had expected to find in Language
settings/ Writing aids.

So the issue is somehow resolved, but do you really think the current solution
is perfect?

A. If I could find these dictionaries in the Tools/Options/Language
settings/Writing aids I could enable/disable it depending on my needs. But it's
impossible with the current release.

B. Pressing 'F7' key brings the window with various options for spell checking,
but I can't find the dictionaries that were accessible from the Language
settings/Writing aids menu, namely dictionaries for English and Slovenian to
give some examples.

C. Don't you think these two places for various Language tools should be
combined into one for better consistency ?!

D. Why some dictionaries are installed with default installation and user can't
manage nor use them after installation (SL-Slovenian in this case - the
installer didn't show it to be installed, so it's a bit surprising)?

IMHO, LibreOffice language settings menu is completely unintuitive, messy and
should be redesigned for better consistency (what is shown in the options
during the installation, in the Language settings options and in the
Autocorrect ('F7') window should be consistent and don't mislead nor surprise
users.

Furthermore, there is an Extension for LO called LanguageTool
http://languagetool.org/ , which gives much better results for vast majority of
the supported languages than extensions distributed with the LibreOffice
installer. I know it requires Java, but I believe it could be better integrated
and distributed with the LO installer. Is there any way to use LanguageTool
rules with LO without Java?

II. Another issue is that there is no a Polish dictionary pack in the
LibreOffice Extensions repository, so it can't be installed with LO Extension
manager, unless it's downloaded from Apache OpenOffice repository (see the link
in my entry comment)and installed manually. Some users don't know about this
solution and keep complaining about broken support for this.

Thank you very much for reading and considering.

I agree with Kumāra. Please separate 著 from 着. They mean different things. For
instance, 見微知著 cannot be 見微知着。 見微知着 is wrong. 著名 cannot be 着名. 着名 is wrong.

This issue also exists in LibreOffice Version 3.6.3.2 (Build ID: 58f22d5) on
Debian Linux.

C. H. D.
