That never worked for LibO, so I modified Version.

I do not see high priority for this because of existing Enhancement
"Alternative dialog Find & Replace for Writer 1.3.2"

It seems more promising to encourage author of that that Extension to maintain
and may be improve the Extension (make it available for Calc, ...)

What is interesting: msWord 2007 opens this document with the same numbering

numbering).

Compares screenshots of the same file in LO 3.6.4.3 and 4.0.0.0

In this additional experiment, I inserted the same image multiple times in (a)
table and (b) free text. Then I anchored each instance in a different way (as
character, to paragraph, to page.) Then I opened the file in LO 3.6.4.3 and
4.0.0.0; and took screenshots.

As the screenshots show, 4.0.0.0 does not show the images at all (it shows only
placeholders). The problem is there for all types of the anchoring.

So anchoring is not an influencing factor.

Thanks for additional information. Reproduced in 3.6.4 on RFR 17 64 bit
Simpler steps to reproduce:
1. Select Numbering style and change it so that different levels of numbering
become looking different.
2. Assign this Numbering style to any paragraph
3. Select this paragraph and try change option "Outline Level" on tab
"Outline&Numbering" in dialog "Paragraph"
Expected: numbering become looking different
Actually: nothing changed
For comparison: buttons "Promote one level" and "Demote one level" change list
level.

The problem is that those fonts have very large WinAscent/WinDescent value in
the OS/2 table (otherwise large math glyphs will be clipped on Windows).
LibreOffice, erroneously, uses WinAscent/WinDescent to calculate line height
instead of the, appropriate, TypoAscender/TypoDescender values in the same
table.

This have been fixed a while ago, but it was later disabled by default for
reasons I don’t remember, you have to set SAL_USE_NEW_LINEHEIGHT env variable
to enabled the new and correct behaviour.

IMO, this should be enabled unconditionally as it affects many other fonts not
only math ones.

Yes, only 'LibO-Dev 4.1.0.0.alpha0+' (Master) is affected (since 2012-12-21).

That works well with

The problems are only partly reproducible with LO 3.6.4.3. (Win7 Home, 64bit).
This issue has to be analysed more deeply.

I opened the original document and changed a word and afterwards have saved it
as a .doc file.
It saves the file, but with an error message "Warning saving the document XYZ:
Write Error. All changes to the Basic Code are lost. The original VBA Macro Code
is saved instead." If you reopen it, then it will be opened without an error
message and has still 26 pages like before.
But there is in addition another bug. If you open the original document in
Excel 2007 then it has 35 pages, but if you open it in LO then it has only 26
pages, because the list of references is missing.

reproducible with LO 3.6.4.3. (Win7 Home, 64bit)

I can confirm this strange bug with LO 3.6.4.3. If you open the xlsx file
again with LO then all the text has the same font (Arial?). But if you open it
in Excel 2007 then it shows the fonts correctly.
If you open afterwards the file again in LO and add in another cell any text
with a third different font and save it, then LO will after opening it again
not show the fonts correctly, but also in Excel 2007 only the last text will be
shown correctly, but no more the text entered before, which was before shown
correctly.

I think this bug is rather more important therefore I changed the importance
from medium normal to medium critical.

The new copy&paste code should be able to handle copy&paste between different
docs, Copy a sheet to a new doc, and fix some bugs that I noticed on the way.

Additionally it should be a lot faster than the old code.

I still can easily reproduce this bug, now on openSUSE 12.2 "Mantis" with
default libreoffice installation (LibreOffice 3.5:build-403 Build ID:
350m1(Build:403)).
Thus, I don't think this is system-specific, but rather other testers might
have tried this not quite in the same way as I do. I've not seen any system
(linux distribution or hardware) on which this bug wouldn't reproduce. Please
note additional information to reproduce in comment 5.
As per above, I reopen this bug.

Selective Style Attributes in Excel

When I create a new cell style in Calc it applies every attribute (font, font
effect, border, etc.) to the cell.

Nearly all styles I will use need to exclude at least one or several of these
attributes.

For example:

1) I need a style to set the number style, font, font effect, and background to
all cells in a column. I do not want the style to modify the various borders
found in the column.
2) I need a style with font, font effect, background and it will be appied to
several columns and rows containing various different types of numbers (decimal
places, currency, etc). I do not want the style to modify the attributes of the
numbers.

How do I create a style to only modify certain/intended attributes?

I created a thread on the LibreOffice forum from which I determined that this
feature is missing from the current (3.5.7 & 3.6.4) LibreOffice releases:
http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/4954

In Excel, when you create a custom style, there are checkboxes for each of the
attributes you want to include in the style.

I've attached a screenshot of this feature in Excel. I need this same
functionality (feature parity) in LibreOffice.

I've installed LibreOffice 4 beta 2 from Linux x86_64 rpm packages on Fedora 18
KDE.

LibreOffice kde-integration is useless because it's for KDE 3: it should be
removed (or maybe deprecated and renamed, like "kde3-integration", in order to
avoid misunderstandings).

It would be nice to have KDE 4 NWF (Native Widget Framework) support.

I found this old KDE 3 support looking to solve another bug (non related with
LibreOffice directly): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=890073

indecipherable

Problem description:
In elementary OS, the clickable controls in the scrollbar are too small to show
and icon, too small to read the label in the case of Calc and Draw tabs, and
quite hard to target with the mouse.

Expected behavior:
Either the scroll bars should have a minimum size to make sure that each

reproducible with LO 3.6.4.3. (Win7 Home, 64bit)

The reason for this bug seemed to be the web link in this line.

reproduced by the following steps:
1. Open WRITER
2. Write four lines (like: "line1", "line2", "line3" and "line4") and format
them with font size 16
3. Add some empty lines and then add/type one further line (like "line10") and
format it with font size 10
4. Add/type one further line below with a web link (like "lineURL,
www.libreoffice.org") and format it with font size 10 and press the enter key
after the web link so that the link gets formatted as a link
5. Select the four first lines and go to BULLETS AND NUMBERING from menu FORMAT
6. Choose a numbering type from the tab NUMBERING TYPE (like e.g. the second
type "1.")
7. Go with the cursor to the end of line 3, after the text "line3" and press
the enter key for a new numbering/line
8. Select the text "line10" and copy it to this new empty numbering "4." from
step 7 and this line will now be formatted with font size 10, including the
numbering itself
9. Select this line and format it with font size 16 and it will work fine
10. Now go with the cursor to the end of line 2, after the text "line2" and
press the enter key for a new numbering/line
11. Select the text "lineURL, www.libreoffice.org" and copy it to this new
empty numbering "3." from step 10 and this line will now be formatted with font
size 10, including the numbering itself
12. Select this line and format it with font size 16 and the text will be
formatted with font size 16, but not the numbering itself, the numbering will
keep the font size 10

Does it worth it to investigate? If yes, is there a quick way to find to locate

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58606] EDITING: Sporadic inconsistencies in text spacing adjustment

2012-12-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58606

Created attachment 72111
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=72111&action=edit
Screenshot of inexplicable space gone

After observing the inexplicable space, I used Ctrl+Z to undo the Search &
Replace I did, and then repeated it (Ctrl+H, replace all 'Preformatted Text'
with 'Text Body'). The result was this third screenshot. Things to note:
a. The position of the '出来るからだ。' string in large font that I mentioned in the
first screenshot.
b. The position of the first line, '「あぁあ。」', seen in the second screenshot,
now near the bottom left corner of the upper page, immediately following where
the text in the first screenshot cut off.
c. The spacing of the lines from the second screenshot has now returned to
normal.
d. The number of pages has dropped further from 6 to 4.
In this example I happened to notice this error (in large part because I knew
it existed) and was able to correct it by undoing and redoing the causal
function. However, if I had failed to notice, and subsequently tried to print
the document, for instance, I may have been greeted with an alarming drop in
document length (imagine how you would feel if your 30 page thesis suddenly
lost 5-6 pages), or worse, a printed document with inexplicable breaks in text.
To add insult to injury, this problem is not consistently reproducible (I tried
discarding the document, reopening LibreOffice, and repeating the exact
importation steps I used to generate the problem document, and ended up with a
3-page document O_o), so I never know when this ugly beast is going to rear its
head.
For debugging purposes, all I can say is that it has something to do with
formatting large portions of long documents, and may have something to do with
how the LibreOffice back end handles parallel text adjustment requests
(consequent of subsequent requests being triggered before precedent ones
return).

reproducible with LO 3.6.4.3. (Win7 Home, 64bit)

But this bug is really strange.

reproduced by the following steps:
1. Opened the attached odp File "Fruits"
2. Selected the bullet paragraph box with a mouse click on the text (bullets)
[the in bug report mentioned first step formatting with any color is not
necessary and was skipped by me]
3. Went to CUSTOMS ANIMATION from the menu SLIDE SHOW
4. Went on the right to the tab CUSTOMS ANIMATION and pressed the button ADD
5. Chose FLY IN from the tab ENTRANCE
6. Then went to this paragraph animation in the MODIFY EFFECTS section at the
bottom (here named as "Apple") and made a right mouse click on this and chose
EFFECT OPTIONS from the corresponding context menu
7. Went to the tab TEXT ANIMATION and chose BY 1ST LEVEL PARAGRAPHS in the
field GROUP TEXT and pressed ok

Then I started the presentation and it worked, but I checked again the entry
from step 7 and the entry was lost and there was found by BY 3RD LEVEL
PARAGRAPHS. But if you check the presentation it works still with 1st
paragraph.
Then I chose BY 2ND LEVEL PARAGRAPHS and tested again the presentation and it
worked. But then I checked again the entry from step 7 and the entry was lost
too and there was found by BY 3RD LEVEL PARAGRAPHS.
Afterwards, I chose BY 3RD LEVEL PARAGRAPHS and tested the presentation again
and it does not work.

But then I found there another bug. When you chose AUTOMATICALLY AFTER you are
not able to enter the delay in seconds (like e.g. mentioned in the LO help).

Another strange behaviour is that if you choose AS ONE OBJECT then the customs
animation gets lost absolutely and you have to enter everything again.

Next, let us examine the second view of the problem. Here, I have scrolled down
two pages from the previous screenshot, and we can see that the text starts up
again arbitrarily at the bottom of the page. Moreover, even after the text
stream resumes, the spacing between some of the lines is obviously larger than
the correct spacing we saw in the first screenshot.

Screenshot of top half of inexplicable space

Today I just happened to encounter the more serious, sporadic version of this
problem. I was working in v3.6.4 and had imported a document from HTML
(copy-paste). The text imported as the 'Preformatted Text' style and amounted
to 8 pages. When I used Search & Replace to replace 'Preformatted Text' with
'Text Body' (which I had already customized with a template) the resulting
6-page document exhibited the aforementioned spacing problems. In examining
these screenshots, be aware that my template specifies RTF reading order and
that this is Japanese, so text lines read from top to bottom and are arranged
from right to left. In addition, my template has split pages into five columns
(that appear as rows, due to reading order). In this first screenshot, we may
see the text end in a normal-looking fashion near the bottom left corner of the
upper page, leaving the subsequent page blank (though the astute may already
wonder why the following empty page is even displayed if no more content is to
continue). Most significantly, however, I would ask you to note the following:
a. The paragraph spacing (spacing between the lines) here is consistent with
that as defined by the styles in this document
b. Though unrelated to this bug, this document is an example where I would like
to be able to perform a complex search for paragraph breaks and selectively
replace them with line breaks (see bug 58744)
c. Remember the position of the '出来るからだ。' string visible in larger font size at
the bottom right corner of the upper page, we will use this as a location
reference.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34390] FORMATTING: Enable Search & Replace capability for frame, page, list, and character styles

2012-12-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I believe the issue here is that character styles cannot be applied using the
search and replace dialog, text properties such as font, color, highlighting,
etc. can only be applied directly. In other words:
If, for example, a "numbers" (e.g. bold, yellow highlight) character style must
be applied to all strings of numbers in a document, currently the only way to
actually do that is to individually select each such string and apply the
character style to them individually.
The Search and Replace dialog is capable of modifying text properties for
searched strings, so it is possible to achieve a result visually identical to
the "numbers" style you want to apply by adding the desired text properties
(bold, yellow highlight) to the 'Replace with' field using the 'Format...'
button. However, text thus modified is only visually identical to, and is not
actually using, the "numbers" character style. Ergo, if further modifications
are then made to the "numbers" character style (e.g. italics, not bold, no
highlight), the text modified by the Search & Replace dialog will not
automatically update its formatting as text actually using the "numbers"
character style would.

See the following similar requests / duplicates for variations and expansions
on this request; summary and importance updated to reflect merge:
Bug 44801 requests Search capability for character styles
Bug 47184 requests Search and Replace capability for page, frame, list, and
character styles, with priority to character styles

This chart type is missing and I also need this chart type quite often. Of
course, this is no real bug, but it would really be good to add this to LO,
because this minimizes the applications of LO.

reproduced by the following steps:

3. Went to the tab BACKGROUND and set the background color to for instance red
4. Wrote several lines of text
5. Selected all the typed lines of text and went to BULLETS AND NUMBERING from

6. Went to the tab GRAPHICS and chose any graphics bullet

The white lines appear on the document's background when scrolling and in my
case they even do not disappear. As in the bug report commented these white
lines disappear when selecting the text or putting the cursor anywhere in the
text. When choosing the "normal" bullets and numbering from the tabs BULLETS

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58745] New: EDITING Extending date lists with dates of 29th or greater by dragging misses month ends

2012-12-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58745

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58745
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING Extending date lists with dates of 29th or
greater by dragging misses month ends
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: jov...@me.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

CALC Spreadsheet Version 3.6.0.4 (Build ID: 932b512) (German) on Mac

Dates below are in German notation (dd.mm.yy)
When extending a date list with dates on 29th or higher (e.g. 30.10.09,
30.11.09, 30.12.09) by dragging it fills in a unexpected manner.
A list of 30.10.09, 30.11.09, 30.12.09 (i.e. 30th of any month) extends to
30.01.10, 02.03.10, 30.04.10,...
A list of 30.11.09, 31.12.09 (i.e. end of each month) extends to 31.01.10,
3.3.10, 3.4.10,...
No problem with dates from 1st to 28th of month (tested with 01.10.09,... and
28.10.09,... only).
Apparently the logic shifts from somehow recognizing "day of month" and
correctly assigning "length of month" as interval to fixed number of days.

Cheers

J W

move or resize the 20x20 table (20 to 30 seconds) or LO hangs even up. To
insert a 40x40 table takes more 2 1/2 minutes.
