Alt-problem still reproducible with version 3.6.4.3, Windows XP (left Alt is
OK, right Alt is not), but not with version 3.5, openSUSE12.2.
Ctrl-problem stiil reproducible on both Windows XP and openSUSE 12.2.

DOTX template file with protected header and footer content

My organization has provided ".dotx" files as a template for me to use, but I
cannot open it correctly rendered in LibreOffice 3.6.4 or LO-dev 4.0 Beta 2.
I've tried this in OpenSUSE 12.1 and Windows 8.

*Essentially the header and footer are protected fields created in Word 2010
with graphics and text, and the body is open for text, but supposedly with
limitations of manipulation.

When I open the file I have a page that looks blank with a field to type in,
but the header and footer seem stripped out, and I can manipulate more than I
think I am supposed to.

If from MS Word I save the file as a "doc" and then work from there-- it mostly
works. It preserves the content and formatting of the header and footer 90%
(margins are off a little). However when in LibreOffice the protections
built-in from Word formatting restrictions are not applied.

A Nabble thread referencing this is here:

Hmm.

I just checked it and in a master build the export to xlsx works fine and
Excel2010 opens the file without a problem.

If someone could test it with 2007 would be great. I'll need some time to
download 2007 from MSDN otherwise.

I also checked export to xls and the problem there is a missing feature in
Excel. Excel does not allow sheet references in conditional format formulas
while saving in xls format.

The old conditional format design until 3.5 was based on single cell styles.
Therefore conditional formats where a cell property. Now since 3.6 conditional
formats are range based, that means we store the information to which range a
conditional format applies.

This allows for more complex conditional formats like color scales and formats
that take all the values in the range into account (see Libreoffice 4.0 for
some more of them)

Astron changed:

Sorry for my irresponsiveness.

First, a clarification: Read-only files can now (3.6+) be edited. Thus, among
read-only files, the non-saving behaviour should only apply to unmodified
read-only files (as received via email, etc.).

Rationale for this change:
When LibO crashes and users have accidentally or deliberately opened any of
these types of documents, LibO will try to restore them – this is useless
(obviously, since there is nothing to restore). It also adds to the many
windows that restoration wizard tends to open, therefore can be confusing to
users. Lastly, it is also rather disappointing when a file is restored and
there is no content in it at all.

Marking medium (again?), because it does have user impact.

I definitely don't disagree with you about styles being useful, I just think
they aren't used by many people and therefore we need to look at it from that
framework. I think pivot tables (previously data pilot) is incredibly useful
but I accept that they are used quite rarely. Furthermore, CRITICAL and MAJOR
bugs are reserved ALMOST completely for crashes, data loss, inability to
install, etcthis bug clearly doesn't get close to being of that importance.

I'm glad Cor was able to reproduce the bug, I suspect it was not reproduced by
Joren and myself because we weren't fully closing LibreOffice as your
description says we must (our mistake).

Michael: I added you to see if you had any ideas what's going on here or could
you suggest another developer who might know (and of course be able to fix it).

As mentioned earlier, from version 3.5.0 I was unable to upgrade due to another
severe issue I was having. That issue was fixed recently and that's when I
discovered this problem. I originally thought it started with 4.0 but then
discovered that it also started with the 3.5 branch.

I am almost certain that bug 57063 is describing this same problem. But in
that thread they are running in circles assuming it has something to do with
template files when the problem is actually very easy to reproduce with a new
document.

And in regards to the comment about what corners of the program are being
used... The use of styles in OpenOffice/LibreOffice is something that IMO is
way too undervalued. So many people don't realize how much they can help you.
Maybe that is because in MS word they are much more complicated to use.

I am so confused, are we using jdk8 already for the LibreOffice builds?

Here is the Oracle Enhancement/Bug for jdk7 and jdk8
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7166956
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8000839

Doesn't show as complete for jdk8... so maybe that's why no jdk8 access bridge
source yet from Oracle.

Anyhow, I think this dates to the JAB integration into the JRE at the SE 1.7u6
build. Don't know if those traces get us any further in identifying what has
stopped working...

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)

  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta2
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 72685
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=72685&action=edit
The zipped file attached contains: a spredsheet file with a chart; and three
images of a copy-paste process.

Problem description: Trying to copy a chart element from a spreadsheet to
anywhere, generate a bad result (all graphics subcomponents without order and
positions)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a spreadsheet file and create a chart (you can use the file
attached)
2. Mark and copy the chart
3. Paste into the same spreadsheet or in other documment (impress, writer,
etc.)
4. The result is a decomposed and disordered graphic (could be a GDI,
bitmap or whatever).

Current behavior: The result of copying a chart from a spreadsheet is a
decomposed and disordered graphic (could be a GDI, bitmap or whatever).

Expected behavior: when copying a chart from a spreadsheet, the result has to
be an image identical to the chart element.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59083] Export Chart as SVG produces zero byte files

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59083

I'm not sure if it is the same bug, but I can't also export draw/presentation
to SVG using the command-line nor using UNO. I thought it was related, since
charts are internally represented as drawing (I think).

How to reproduce (command-line):

1 - Create a new presentation (or draw) and save it as test.odp (or test.odg)

2 - Execute command-line to convert:
$ ./soffice --convert-to svg ~/test.odp
convert /home/robert/test.odp ->
/home/robert/LibreOffice/libo/solver/unxlngx6.pro/installation/opt/program/test.svg
using impress_svg_Export
Error: Please reverify input parameters...

3 - What was expected (output when converting to PNG):
$ ./soffice --convert-to png ~/test.odp
convert /home/robert/test.odp ->
/home/robert/LibreOffice/libo/solver/unxlngx6.pro/installation/opt/program/test.png
using impress_png_Export

How to reproduce (UNO):

1 - Create a new presentation (or draw) and save it as test.odp (or test.odg)

2 - Copy the latest unoconv with python3 support:
$ wget
https://raw.github.com/xrmx/unoconv/fc59dd90f03cf88f4cf16c07204809f2239284ee/unoconv

3 - Start LO with socket:
$ ./soffice
--accept="socket,host=127.0.0.1,port=2001;urp;StarOffice.ServiceManager"
--norestore --nofirststartwizard --nologo

4 - Use unoconv (with python from LO) to export to SVG:
$ ./python ./unoconv -f svg -p 2001 ~/test.odp
unoconv: UnoException during export phase:
Unable to store document to file:///home/robert/test.svg (ErrCode 3088)
Properties: (...)

5 - What was expected (output when converting to PNG):
$ ./python ./unoconv -f png -p 2001 ~/test.odp

PS1: Opening the odp file and using File->Export (to SVG) works normally. The
SVG file is generated and works properly.
PS2: I can also confirm that the reported bug (export chart to SVG) also
generate an empty file.

System: Ubuntu 12.10. LO Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID:

Hi,

I figured that this is caused by the TR spellchecker and Java in Linux distro.

Sorry for the mess.

I'm going to assume that there is a reason for doing this. Especially for empty

Marking as NEW and leaving it up to you guys (Developers) to decide how to
implement :)

Marking as LOW as it's not going to add a lot for the end user, just a
functional addition for "behind the scenes" stuff.

According to an IRC chat, the reason is that LibreOffice no longer ships
stlport libraries, which Duden Korrektor links to. The error is in the
extension, because that has never been an official interface.

A workaround is to manually install stlport libraries.

On Linux, it should suffice to install a package called 'libstlport4.6-dev'
(tested with Linux Mint 13, which is Ubuntu 12.04 based).

On Windows, one needs to extract file 'stlport_vc7145.dll' from an older
LibreOffice release.

1. Install LibreOffice 4.x.

2. Get an older installation binary from, e.g., the LibreOffice 3.6.x series.

3. Extract the old MSI installer with uniextract,
http://www.legroom.net/software/uniextract>. Don't install the old
LibreOffice version.

4. Copy file \URE\bin\stlport_vc7145.dll from the extracted old MSI into the
same location in the LibreOffice 4.0 installation directory (needs
administrator rights).

Installation/activation of Duden Korrektor extension should now work (tested
with LibreOffice 4.0.0 Beta 2, file stlport_vc7145.dll from LibreOffice 3.6.4
and Duden Korrektor 6.0 and 8.0). If it fails for you, you can try
additionally installing Microsoft VS 2008 runtime if that's not already
installed.

5. Mail Duden customer support at hotl...@duden.de and ask for a fix.

Mateusz - thanks for your testing ! :-)

The best way to get individual bugs fixed is not to file a single bug with a
complex document :-) Instead - it is far better to file a larger number of very
small & apparently simple documents each with a single issue and steps to
reproduce it.

That really helps us track what issues are alive, and which are fixed - to
isolate each of those issues, to associate git commits with each of the issues
as it is fixed, and to bring them to a clean resolution - which helps everyone.

Any chance you can split this bug up into a set of smaller bugs, and work out
which versions these regressed in (if they are regressions) etc. ? :-)

many thanks !

No problem. Oddly on one of our older (production use) spreadsheets it doesn't
prompt to update links but just does it automatically (in 3.6). Not sure
what's triggering the difference in behavior (maybe some setting?).

In the new example spreadsheets I've uploaded, there's always a prompt.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56760] FILESAVE: docx file save picture position problem

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56760

I have observed a very similar behaviour : in the versions before 3.6.4.3 when
opening a docx document edited in microsoft word that contains positionned
images, then upon saving as docx in Libreoffice and reopening in Libreoffice
all images would be positionned at the start of the document (one after the
other or on top of each other).
however this now changed in version 3.6.4.3 : now, after saving as docx and
reopening, the images are in the correct position, but cannot be loaded anymore
: one gets just empty boxes (see attached file)

Cheers

Oliver

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58531] FILEOPEN: Reload no longer refreshes external links in 4.0

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58531

The problem is that currently it prompts the user "This file contains links to
other files. Should they be updated?" and even after the user clicks yes, the
link is still not updated.

This seems like a fairly clear bug rather than future feature, and IMHO a
serious one, because it'll break any spreadsheet that has links to any other
spreadsheet from the user perspective (yes, it'll work after doing a
recalculate but the user will never know to do that, especially when they've
already been prompted once).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44763] FORMATTING, PIVOTTABLE, l10n: styles are not localized / translated

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44763

This has one gotcha. First of all, I have these pivot table styles and I would
LOVE to get rid of them. But besides that, if we ever decide to keep them for
the time being and decide to translate them, then we'd have to make sure that
the implementation would continue to use the non-translated versions. Or else
it would break if the document is shared between different locales.

Actually I would LOVE to get rid of these pivot table styles. They cause so
many issues on many fronts. I'd like to use some sort of pre-defined table
formatting that can be applied per table instead.

This is not true in general. Judging whether and how such code can be
simplified is rather delicate (cf.

"DynamicErrorInfo objects must be allocated on the heap" etc.), so I've removed
the EasyHack etc. flags.

We have 'regression' keyword. No need to repeat that in the subject.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59138] New: FORMATTING: Changing background color of a table cell makes DRAWING forget the border formatting

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59138

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 59138
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Changing background color of a table cell
makes DRAWING forget the border formatting
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: volker.nebel...@rwth-aachen.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.4.3 release
 Component: Drawing
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When you edit the background color of a table cell, clicking OK and applying
the change makes the cell lose all its border formatting. Even when you
explicitly check some borders to appear immediately after you changed the
background color and then click OK, the border formatting is lost.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new table
2. Right click in a cell and choose "Table…"
3. Choose tab "Borders" and select some borders
4. Click "OK"
5. Right click again in the same cell "Table…"
6. Choose tab "Background" and change the color
7. Go to tab "Borders" and see that the current border is yet selected
8. Click "OK" --> border disappears

Current behavior:

Border formatting is getting lost on editing cell background color

Expected behavior:

Border formatting should be unaffected by changing the cell's background color
Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 3.6.4.3 release

2013-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Although this may call for a need to separate the "update link on load"
mechanism from the calculation so that the user will get prompted even when the
full calculation is not performed on load. That's something to think about for
future releases.

That's in itself not a bug. The option is intended for ODS documents *not*
saved by LibreOffice. If you open one that's last saved by LibreOffice, it
won't recalculate on load. But you can (as you've already noted earlier) still
hard calculate after the load.

skerain: we're not aware of any problems caused in 4.0 by this fix either (yet)
- but of course wider testing happens between 4.0.0 and 4.0.1.

Thorsten - you have my +1 whenever you're happy to back-port the fix to -3-6 of
course :-) Wow I hate working around this sort of weirdo Microsoft issue.

I'm not sure what the difference was when I created the document in 3.6.2 under
Ubuntu but when I opened the sample test document attachment it showed the
incorrect paragraph spacing problem that I've been having without the
additional indent problems.
