[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39484] Outline groups are lost while editing or after re-opening a spreadsheet

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39484

--- Comment #15 from Winfried Donkers o...@dci-electronics.nl ---
(In reply to comment #13)

We have finished out investigations:
of the thousand+ of ods-files that have been converted from xls to ods, two
files have suffered loss of all groups and all notes on one or more tabs (not
on all tabs). One file had this phenomenom more than once, i.e. at one date the
groups and notes of one tab were lost, at another date the groups and note of
another tab were lost.
We have only checked files that have been modified in the last 2 months.
One of the files lost its groups and notes on one tab before the upgrade from
version 3.5 to 3.6.4.3, the other incidents happened with version 3.6.4.3. We
have not been able to establish whether all incidents originated from one
user/one installation.
We cannot reproduce the problem. Should we be able to reproduce the problem or
similar behaviour, I will update this bug inmediately.

More or less [Reproducible] with LibO 4.0.0.2 rc - GERMAN UI / German
Locale [Build ID: 5991f37846fc3763493029c4958b57282c2597e)] {tinderbox: @6,
pull time 2013-01-24 07:20(?)} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with User
Profile automatically created form renamed /3 User profile used by 3.6.5.2.

My results with slide 5 differ from slide 5 from windows 3.6.2.2 to
pdfcreator.pdf in many details, but I can confirm the core of the
observations: Background exceeds Shape contour.

Most impressing printing damages with slide 6, there all backgrounds (except
hatching) in printout (FreePDF) do not follow shape contour, but are shown as
rectangles.
That problem is not limited to Impress, also visible with shapes copied to DRAW
That's already visible in Print preview in printing dialog.

But strange, I do not see a problem with slide 5 Why Learn German (the main
reasons)?

I already similar bugs and I am pretty sure that this one is a bug or at least
related, and also here some relations to other bugs are mentioned in various
comments. We will have to sort that.

I'm afraid we have too many similar and related, but not identical problems in
the sample document, we will have to check for each shape (IMHO slides 5 and 6)
what exactly the problem is, whether thee problem already has been reported,
... . For example: The main problem seems to star with 3.4. but NoOp also
observed differences between Versions 3.6.2 and 3.6.4.

For all new problems visible we should spin off a new bug with reference to the
sample here, what will ease develpers' work
(http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#General_information item 4!)

I will contribute some observations to Slide5 shape For a holiday, soon

 Component: Writer

test sample and comments inside.

This is an enhancement request from Novell bugzilla, in which community may be
interested:

  https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=606066

There are two basic ways to make the text in a cell vertical:

1) Select all the text in a cell and set turning angle in the character
properties to 90 or 270 degrees
This method has a severe drawback: the text gets messed up if it does not fit
into a cell with height explicitly set, and the cell height becomes locked once
a non-fitting text is entered (or pasted) there - instead of word-wrapping the
text, the cell just does not resize. Moreover, text fitting rules seem to be
different from those of the cells with horizontally oriented characters - the
cell requires more height (for text it is width) to fit the text properly than
it would if the text was horizontal. It all makes text editing terribly
inconvenient in that case.

2) Set text direction in the table properties (right-click inside the cell,
Table...-Text Flow-Text Direction-Right-to-left (vertical))
This one works much better in that case, but unfortunately it's required
sometimes that the text is bottom-to-top and left-to-right.

Summarizing all this, can I suggest adding a Left-to-right (vertical) text
direction in the Table Properties dialog, Text Flow tab?

(Also, is the rotated text behavior described above a bug? If it is, I will
file it properly.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59357] Unworkable - Calc continuolsly hanging

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59357

--- Comment #3 from Rob robert.edger...@hmt.ch ---
Well I've had sometime to play around with the applicplication and I have
noticed the following:

1. If the working file is located on a server, then the application will just
hang after some seconds/minutes. A force quit is required.

2. Saving locally helps but does not cure this issue 100%.

3. Making _any_ changes to the following results in the application hanging:

i) Moving, renaming and coying a tab

ii) Attemp to reveal more tabs along the horozonal by reducing the width of the
horizontal scroll bar _or_ by clicking the right/left scrol buttons.

iii) Edinting a plot, in particular the line. e.g. (colour, width, dashed etc)

iv) Adding a special character

Please try and fix these bugs for Mac users. LibreOffice is used company wide,
and it's giving me a lot of trouble. To repeat my topic heading, this version
of openoffice calc is unworkable for me.

Best regards.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59859] FORMATTING: Header and Footer and Page number

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59859

Well, I have an issue now! I had to uninstall the version 4.0, to install the
current version again because I had to work on some projects, and due to some
issues in 4.0, I could not!

You took a little more time to reply, so I thought you forgot me, and I
uninstalled it!

Anyway, all I can explain you is to make the header and footer part just like
Microsoft Office 2010 for instance. If you do that, you will succeed in the
marketing strategy as well. As far as I know, only Microsoft Office has the
best header and footer feature. So, I think you have to make it like this.

For the page number also, you have to correct. You cannot start a specific page
number on a start page which is lame I think. In all Office suite, you can use
any page number you want at start page.

You have a lot to catch to make LibreOffice at least meets 50% standard level
of Microsoft Office. I am working with LibreOffice since some months, and I can
say it is still extremely basic and lack essential features.

I am sorry for telling you it, but I am giving my review as a user. The 4.0
version is bad, more bad than 3.6. Perhaps because it is still in BETA version,
but seriously, it needs a big change. The installation took about 30 minutes on
my computer as well. I don't know why!

Crash occurs always:
1) Create new document - Insert - Indexes Tables - Index/Table - Table of
contents.
2) Open existing document - Insert - Indexes Tables - Index/Table - Table
of contents.

File format doesn't matter - occurs with both .odt and MS .doc

It doesn't even present the TOC inserting form - it only splashes with it and
quits Writer.

Both views (edit mode and slideshow) of the same slide

Problem description:

(Excuse my poor English, it is not my mother tongue)
Some objects are vertically dilated in slideshow mode comparing to the editing
mode.
Tested on various versions and OS (XP, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Mac OSX)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a large rectangle with horizontal hatchings
2. Create a widely vertical rectangle with no border, horizontal hatchings
(space between each hatching twice as wide as the first rectangle)
3. Align these two rectangles in a way the hatchings are perfectly aligned
4 Change to slideshow mode (F5)

Current behavior:

The two rectangles are no longer aligned.
One of them is dilated so the hatchings are no longer aligned and the spacing
between them varies vertically.

Expected behavior:

The hatchings stay aligned in slideshow mode

Operating System: Ubuntu

After removing that package, the Blog menu entry (and thusly the problem)

I will try compiling with --with-oooblogger as well, and see how that fares,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60010] SLIDESHOW: Some objects are deformed in slidshow

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60010

--- Comment #1 from richard_g richard.gre...@onera.fr ---
Dilatation problem confirmed with other OOo/AOO/LibO versions on any OS.

Can also be seen on slides having charts with a title on its vertical axis.
Steps to reproduce:

-Calc:
 1. build an XY chart with titles for horizontal axis and vertical axis
 2. copy the chart

-Impress :
 1. paste the copied chart into a slide.
 3. try switching between edit mode et slideshow mode.

When in slideshow mode, the tile of the vertical axis is stretched along the
height of the screen.

Tested with LibO 346 on Windows Vista 32 bit SP2

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51119] EDITING: OLE objects from writer are impossible to manage

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51119

--- Comment #4 from Andy silva...@katamail.com ---
I am actually puzzled by the fact that the whole of the OLE inter-operability
functionality in Libreoffice would need a thorough revision and debugging
process, but this seems to be a problem shared by few.
In general I would say that the editing of OLE objects in host modules (e.g. a
writer object in Impress) is a completely unpredictable business: very often,
after spending half an hour trying to bend it to my needs, I gave up because
the appearance of the object turned out to be uncontrollable, and every action
performed on it seemed to make things worse.
I know that this observations are too general for a bug report like this, but I
still hope to raise awareness on the general problem. Thanks

Might be related to or DUP of
Bug 49340 - CRASH closing window Edit Changes Accept or Reject with ESC
Bug 51832 - EDITING: CRASH in special case when 'Edit Changes Accept or
 reject Reject'
Bug 56549 - CRASH in menu 'Format → Autocorrect → Apply and Edit Changes'?
But none of those is really identical.
I will check this one later.

All bugs above are FIXED, so is this still an issue in the latest stable
release?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59859] FORMATTING: Header and Footer and Page number

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59859

--- Comment #5 from bfoman bfo.bugm...@spamgourmet.com ---
(In reply to comment #4)
Anyway, all I can explain you is to make the header and footer part just
like Microsoft Office 2010 for instance.

There are improvements like Allow different header and footer on the first
page feature introduced in 4.0.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.0
http://vmiklos.hu/blog/lo-firstpage-headerfooter.html
You can file missing features as enhancement requests (1 bug = 1 feature) and
maybe they will be implemented.

For the page number also, you have to correct. You cannot start a specific
page number on a start page which is lame I think. In all Office suite, you
can use any page number you want at start page.

Of course you can do it - please read:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Page_Numbers#To_Start_With_a_Defined_Page_Number
or
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Text_Flow#Breaks

Courier Prime is a font designed for screenplays and to replace Courier and
Courier Final Draft fonts.

Features:
- It looks just as good on the monitor as out of the printer.
- It's optimized for 12 point size, and matches the metrics of Courier and
Courier Final Draft, so you can often swap it out one-for-one.
- Other Couriers just slant the letters to create faux italics. We give you a
whole new face, modeled off the “casual” script of vintage typewriters, that
looks magnifique.
- It’s released under the SIL Open Font License (OFL) license.

The portion which checks the version of VersionGet.cpp of source was corrected.
When there was specification of CtoMail.ini, there was a problem which cannot

CtoMail.ini was also corrected.

The abnormal end of the following file is carried out by 4.0.0.2.

Ubuntu/Fedora 32bit Libreoffice 4.0.0.2

Libreoffice is installed in /opt/libreoffice4.0.

Since a path is the same, both of the files of Ubuntu/Fedora become the same

What was created by both of Ubuntu/Fedora by way of precaution is contained.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54003] psadmin (LO 3.5) and printeradmin (LO3.6) does not save Postscript (Level from driver) as Printer Language Type

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54003

--- Comment #3 from Matt Price matt.pr...@utoronto.ca ---
(In reply to comment #2)
Bug 44664 is about the malfunction of PDF printing itself. The workaround
for the moment is to set Postscript as printer language type.

This does not work neither for me correctly.
Setting via spadmin PS level 1 and 2 stays persistent. But:
Selecting PS(level from driver) falls back to PDF (close psadmin and open
 it again immediately shows that).
Selecting PS Level 3 falls back to PS Level 2.

openSuse 12.1/64; latest updates. LibreOffice 3.6

I'm seeing the same thing on LO 4.0 Alpha1 on Ubuntu Quantal. The Postscript
language level on my HP OfficeJet 8600 should be 3. However, setting
PSLevel to 3 in spadmin or directly in psprint.conf is not effective; LO
seems to reject that setting and revert to the default. I really appreciate
any hints on how to proceed! If I could go back to PDF, I would, but duplex
printing does not work with PDF output format (as described in #44664 and
elsewhere). Not sure if this is fixed in recent 4.0 builds?

  thanks,
Matt

Correction: it is not crashing on opening all document. Just any documents that
I create in odf format. It opens doc files created elsewhere just fine.

I ran a sudo apt-get install libreoffice. It is still saying its the same
version but doing similar things.

It crashes when saving to odt format but will pop up with a window saying that
I don't have appropriate permissions even though I have verified that
permissions in the folder I am saving are ok.

My bad - the Find All option is there plain as day and I'm still on the same
v3.6.4.3 as I was yesterday. The option is on the Find Replace dialogue
box, which I know I looked at and used. No idea how I missed it. I don't think
anything should be done to make it more obvious either. It's already
prominently displayed exactly where I expected it to be. The fact I somehow
didn't see it is my mistake.

I've confirmed the Find All option is there in Calc and Writer v3.6.4.3 and
works even in read-only mode.

Also, yesterday I ended up using this work-around which might be useful on
older versions of LibreOffice. Use Find Replace to replace the text with
something distinctive and undoing the change right afterwards (actually the
Replace All also highlights everything it changes too, so I could have replaced
the text with itself).

It looks terrible on-screen because of lack of hinting and misses Cyrillic and
Greek letters entirely. It can not replace Courier in any way.

I add some developers that could hack on MAC or did something with fonts into
CC. I wonder if the backtrace might somehow help.

IMHO, the strace would be helpful because if could point to the problematic
font.

Anyway, it seems to be somehow specific to your system. Such bugs, could not
block releases with other useful fixes and improvements = lowering the
severity a bit.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60021] CRASH when paste and all cells of sheet are selected

2013-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60021

--- Comment #4 from Eike Rathke er...@redhat.com ---
We need to forbid paste and other multiple-cell data entry after Ctrl+A (or
that grid button) selection or other selections encompassing too many cells.
Effectively the data is repeatedly pasted to all selected cells, in the case of
Ctrl+A that is 1024x100 ... grinding available memory to the ground and
application gets shutdown.
