 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

The font drop down listing gets extremely pointless to navigate when it
contains more than ~100 fonts. Many users have 500+ fonts and don't recall
what each nice serif one is named.

I propose a feature that would allow a user to alternately list the fonts if
they would like. This way one who wanted to could put all the serif fonts
together, all the outline fonts together, all the monospace together, etc...

It would be wonderful if this was in a settings window that allowed
dragging/dropping of the font list to setup the user's custom list. Possible
exporting of that list would also be extremely wonderful but slightly
unnecessary.

Also, confirm that ref file will not open in Windows build of LibreOffice 4.0.0
rc3. But on same system it will open in Office 2007 with no issue. And
interestingly will also open in an Apache OpenOffice Dev 4.0 build (r1441343).

So something in this .DOC MS Office 97-2003 formated file is now being
mishandled by LibO. Changning to NEEDINFO as devs are going to need log details
of what is causing the hang up.

The question was not whether it works, but whether UI looks intuitive. So here
we have a design question.

Looks as reported in any of my Versions with any of my Profiles (or fresh new
profile) until 4.1.0.0.+:

'Move/Copy sheet' for the only single sheet of a document shows up the expected
dialog, but both radio buttons 'Action' are greyed out.

The question is whether that is in accordance with style guides, or even
whether we have style guides for such cases.

Unfortunately I did not find a similar case with 2 radio buttons, but for
example see attached screenshot comparison, wehre "greyed out" has different
meaning.

I think we should try a better unification to make I more intuitive.

I will leave a comment at

Removing regression as we have no version that it worked on (and therefor
cannot confirm)

Also marking as WORKSFORME as we have no way of knowing what it "should be"
from given information. I believe 3.5.2 was the release at that time, so I did
a test and have attached the PDF's, to me they look identical.

Things that will help:
PDF showing xls border thickness for on Microsoft Office and on LibreOffice
(something that we can actually see the thickness difference)

PDF showing differences between borders for ODS for different versions showing
the different thicknesses

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60621] Case sensitive sorting is broken

I just did this test:

Sort
TEST
test
teST
Test
TesT

in column A, sorted in 3.6.4.3 and 4.0.0.3 and got the same results.

both got sorted to look like this:

Sort
test
teST
Test
TesT
TEST

Is this not correct? Also I get different results based on "case sensitive"
option being checked or not. Can you clarify what a correct sorting would look
like with case sensitive checked?

Marking as NEEDINFO, thanks Urmas for helping me understand the issue.

Unfortunately without reproducible steps there isn't much that we can do to
triage the bug. I haven't seen any other bugs similar to this one.

Are you still seeing this in newer releases?

Apologies for closing the bug but, again, without steps our developers can't do
anything to help :-(

If there is any other useful information that you can give we can take a look
at it and see what's going on.

Following [1] I mark this bug as 'Minor Medium'. You add 'target' versions to
the Whiteboard status... this is only set to mark the versions this bug will be
fixed. Because this bug isn't fixed, I remove the 'target' versions in the
whiteboard field. I see 3.5.7 is the oldest version you can reproduce, is that
true? Therefore I set bug version to 3.5.7.

I can't reproduce this behavior using Mac OSX 10.8.2 with LibreOffice 3.6.4.2
and LibreOffice Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID:
042e4606a64233299fdc02d9df32329c452d96d)
TinderBox: MacOSX-Intel@3-OSX_10.6.0-gcc_4.0.1, Branch:master, Time:
2013-02-07_23:25:41.

Can you please retest using a more recent version of the 3.6 branch (3.6.5.2 is
the most recent) or even better LibreOffice 4.0.0.

You can download 4.0.0 here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
Or 3.6.5.2 here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?nodetect (select correct
platform/language and then 3.6.5)

Installation guide: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/linux/

Thanks for your time filing this bug and retesting.

Kind regards,
Joren

Confirmed to also be a problem under Windows 7 64-bit, and with LibreOffice
4.0.0rc3 build. Test case as given by OP.

Inserted movie (.mov or .avi), while editing .odt will render text wrap as set
using context menu of video/audio clip. But when saved and reopened the wrap
text configuration has changed. Can't set/save as "through" nor as "background"
nor as "optimal page" nor as "no wrap" (once a wrap option set) and retain
setting on close reopen of .odt document. Once a wrap is used, it consistantly
reopens to default "Page wrap" text wrap.

Additional platforms added accordingly.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60620] New: Formatting: loses first line ident setting when open existing Impress document

2013-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60620

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 60620
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Formatting: loses first line ident setting when open
existing Impress document
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: bugrepor...@bchemnet.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 74571
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=74571&action=edit
Slide missing first line ident in 4.0

The latest release has a regression (compared to 3.6.5) opening an Impress
document with a negative first line ident results in a setting of zero, for all
styles. The attached document illustrates what I mean: if opened in 3.6.5, the
first line has an indent of -0.6 cm, and the other lines have an ident of 0.6
cm, for both Outline 1 and Outline 2 styles. However, in 4.0.0, only the 0.6
cm setting for all lines appears, and the first line ident is 0.0 cm for all
styles.

This appears to be loading problem, because if I set the ident back to -0.6 in
4.0.0 and save, then re-open in 3.6.5, the setting is correct (i.e., 4.0.0 can
use and set the setting). However, opening again in 4.0.0 results in the 0.0
cm indent (i.e., 4.0.0 ignores the setting when the file is opened).

Possibly related is that if I set Outline 1 to have the correct first line
ident in 4.0.0, the setting does not carry through to the other (linked)
styles, whereas it does if I change that setting in 3.6.5.

The upshot is that I have numerous presentations that now have a slight shift
in ident and consequently occasional unexpected (new) line wrapping, and this
effectively makes 4.0.0 worthless for me unless I completely redesign thousands
of slides.

In the event it is relevant, I'm using the Debian packages currently in
experimental.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.
Can you please retest this using LibreOffice 3.6.5 or even better 4.0.0? I know
there are a lot of UI changes done with the printdialog in LibreOffice 4.0,
therefore I recommend to test this using 4.0. I know version 3.6.2.2 is the
version that is provided with your Linux Distro.

You can download this version via: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
Here can you find a guide how to install it:

Thanks for your time retesting.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60260] Corrupted first headers when editing in 4.0.0.3 an ODT created with a previous version

2013-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60260

The results of a few experiments I've done:

- If I save, using LO 4.0.0.3, the attached example file in Flat XML (.fodt)
format, and reopen that .fodt file, then LO 4.0.0.3 shows the correct headers.
(Same result with the longer private file).

- Using LO 4.0.0.3, I can get the correct headers to appear in the original
.odt file (as attached) by editing some of the styles in the document, but if I
save the document and then reopen that .odt file, the corrupt header is back.

- If I make a trivial edit to the attached example file in LO 4.0.0.3 (so that
the corrupt header is still showing) and save it, then reopen it in an old
version (LO 3.5.4 is what I used), then the header appears fine.

This implies that no data is being corrupted, it's just that LO 4.0.0.3 is
*showing* the header incorrectly, but only if the file is .odt. If the file is
.fodt, then the header appears correctly. It *seems* to follow (guessing here!)
that the left/right-ness of the first header is calculated wrongly when an .odt
file (but not an .fodt file) is *opened*.

Note too that the incorrect headers get exported to PDF, so it's not just a
question of what's onscreen being incorrect - the incorrect headers are in some
sense there in LO 4.0.0.3.

Problem description:

The topic set for the #documentfoundation IRC channel is currently:

---

---

Given that it's February 10th today, the topic is either a month late, or 11
months early :-)

Proposed Fix:

Change the channel topic to mention the next meeting (which I think will be Feb
20th, per this page: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/BoD_Meetings), or
just remove the date-specific reference and say "BoD calls take place every 2nd
Wednesday at 1600 UTC and last for 1 hour."

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60495] Formatting: Appears to have no effect on numbers

2013-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60495

Graham,

I can confirm that it appears to only affect calculated fields.

Both suggestions made by mariosv do work.

My reservation with using the setting the options method is that 'recalculation
on file load' implies that it recalculates all ODF spreadsheets (not saved in
LibreOffice).

This is confusing as it was saved by LibreOffice, albeit an earlier version.

Also you may not want to recalculate ODF files from other sources?

It bothers me more that saving the file using 4.0.0.3 does not resolve the
actual problem, as reloading the file takes you back to the original problem.

Pesonally I will just do a manual (Ctrl+Shift+F9) for now.

May I suggest looking at the code that reads the file in and makes the
appropriate decision to recalculate or not.

Thanks to everyone.

Check out slackbuilds.org and search for libreoffice. The maintainers of
slackbuilds use a re-packaging script that uses the rpm version. Generally
they do a very good job of keeping things correct. I have checked the script
but may have missed something.

Cheers,

Fred

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60616] New: Alphabetical index not combining entries with chapter info in Writer 3.6x nor 4.0r

2013-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60616

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 60616
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Alphabetical index not combining entries with chapter
info in Writer 3.6x nor 4.0r
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: glaucio.de.ara...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.5.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Same as https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=59295

- Insert alphabetical index
- Entries: add 'chaper info' into structure line
- Index/table: activiate 'Combine identical entries' but not 'Combine identical
entries with..'

Problem: the 'chapter info' is reduced to only one - the last - chapter in
which the entry appears.

I've also made a video (in pt-br, but easy to understand) with the issue:

Summary: BSA: Prompt user for missing fields
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: bishop.robin...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

On Step #3 and Step #4 of the BSA, the user is not prompted to select or enter
data in particular fields. It can be unclear what fields must be filled for the
bug submission process to continue.

Suggested Fix:

Make a 'Next' button visible from the start. If the user clicks the Next button
and additional information/selections are required, give the user instructions
(in red text) next to each required field.

Note: This might be related to bug 60207.

Thanks for reporting
@Bruno: I discussed this a little bit on our QA channel; and we can't find any
other workaround for now then setting each file as Read-Only (as Urmas already
mentioned).
Is it possible to provide us more information about the use case (why would you
use an option to open as Read-Only by default?).

Thanks in advance,
Joren
