Although I marked the bug I reported as a duplicate of this, the request is
slightly different, but definitely related. I fully support the effort to
create consistency.

I notice a suspected adverse effect of this lack: After much normal pasting (ie
with formatting), I now have presentation files that are full of custom graphic
styles which aren't in use. You may check out on your side to see if it's true
for you too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61396] FILEOPEN: [Template Manager]Editing a model

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61396

--- Comment #3 from pierre-yves samyn pierre-yves.sa...@laposte.net ---
Hello

Thank you for your response

(In reply to comment #2)

@Pierre-Yves, I take it, you use model in the meaning of template? That
 confused me a bit...

Yes model means template, sorry for my bad english... :(

So, as far as I understand you, you want an extra tick box in the Open
 dialogue that allows switching between
   (1) opening the template and
   (2) opening a new document based on the template.
 Is that correct?

No additional check box is needed: I suggest that the choice of document type
makes the difference.

1.If the user explicitly chooses template (see screenshot
FileOpenEditTemplate.png), File Open edits the template (new behaviour)
2.Otherwise File Open creates a new document based on the template (current
behaviour)

As I said before:
*This would be consistent with what is done for File Save.
*It does not add menu entry or anything else
*It does not change the template manager
*It provides a utility to File Open Type: Model, currently overlap with File
Open
*This allows to recover functionality lost with the new manager.

 * I would assume the second point is likely what user want in the majority of
   cases

I do not agree with that: if the user specifies the type Template, he wants
to edit the template.

As an example: when you want to open a text file (.txt) in the spreadsheet, you
select the filter in the list, otherwise it opens in Writer.
It would not be acceptable that the choice of filter would not be respected.
Currently, choose the template filter or not makes no difference.

 * It seems reasonably simple to just overwrite the template by using Save
 As...

The software allows me to create something, does not allow me to change it. I
need to create a copy and replace the original. It is indeed possible ... but
it is a workaround.

I'm not sure that we should be satisfied ...

Regards
Pierre-Yves

Oh, this also happen if the data validation list is created in Calc:

(1) Start a new spreadsheet in Calc. On Sheet2 enter a couple of values in the
first column.

(2) Add a name for the range of cells: select the cells just entered and in the
menus choose Data Define Range and enter a name for the range, e.g. mydata.

(3) In the first cell of Sheet1 define a data validation:
Data Validity Criteria tab
Allow: Cell range

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #22 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
I tested the patch from comment #20 (remove the copied cond format cell attr
entries) It helped to show the green border around the cell I28 but it did
not really work. I did the following test:

1. I followed instructions from the comment #0

Result: Green border around the cell I28 which looks promissing

2. Changed the data in the cell T28 from March 2012 to March 2010

Result: It still shown the green border.
Expected result: It should remove the green border and show red strike over
the I28 cell
because the condition is not longer true

Alternative test is to copy rows 65 and 66 from the source.ods. The result is
that both I28 and I29 cells have the green border. The expect result is the
red strike over the I29 cell.

Observation: It helped me to safe the SampleTarget.ods document as
SampleTarget.new.ods and
reload.

This helped also without the patch in the comment #20.

= It seems that the problem is rather in refreshing or
recalculating the formatting.

Observation 2: If I had the patch from the comment #20, it helped me to do:

 - open Format/Conditional Formatting/Manage
 - select the range I28:I29
 - press Edit
 - press OK to close the edit window (no
change is needed)
 - press OK to close the manage window

Result: The cell I29 become the red strike as
expected

This does not help without the patch in comment
#20

= the patch in the comment #20 actually makes a
difference.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60306] EDITING: CONDITIONAL FORMATTING destroyed after copy-paste cell

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60306

--- Comment #23 from Markus Mohrhard markus.mohrh...@googlemail.com ---
(In reply to comment #22)
I tested the patch from comment #20 (remove the copied cond format cell attr
entries) It helped to show the green border around the cell I28 but it did
not really work. I did the following test:

 1. I followed instructions from the comment #0

Result: Green border around the cell I28 which looks promissing

 2. Changed the data in the cell T28 from March 2012 to March 2010

Result: It still shown the green border.
Expected result: It should remove the green border and show red strike
 over the I28 cell
because the condition is not longer true

Alternative test is to copy rows 65 and 66 from the source.ods. The result
is that both I28 and I29 cells have the green border. The expect result
is the red strike over the I29 cell.

Observation: It helped me to safe the SampleTarget.ods document as
 SampleTarget.new.ods and
 reload.

This helped also without the patch in the comment
 #20.

= It seems that the problem is rather in refreshing
 or recalculating the formatting.

Observation 2: If I had the patch from the comment #20, it helped me to do:

  - open Format/Conditional
 Formatting/Manage
  - select the range I28:I29
  - press Edit
  - press OK to close the edit window (no
 change is needed)
  - press OK to close the manage window

Result: The cell I29 become the red strike
 as expected

This does not help without the patch in
 comment #20

= the patch in the comment #20 actually makes
 a difference.

Hey Petr,

so let me leave some comments about the patch and why saving, closing and then
reopening will always fix the problems that I fixed with the patch in Comment
20.

First why save, close reopen fixes the problem: We store the information about
conditional format ranges in two places: The ScConditionalFormat::maRange as a
ScRangeList and inside of the cell attribute storage for fast look-up. The big
task is now to keep the two in sync because for import/export and nearly all
update conditional format tasks the ScConditionalFormat::maRange information is
the important one. However for rendering we use for performance reasons the one
in the cell attribute storage.

So now why does my patch solve the problem (I have to check the problem you
mentioned). The cell attribute storage stores as I mentioned the information
which conditional format is applied to a cell. This is done by a vector storing
an index od the conditional format (in ScConditionalFormatItem with ID
ATTR_CONDITIONAL). Now when we copypaste we copy the cell information from the
old document into the paste area of the new document. This cell information
also contains the old index which is not the same index as in the new document.
Additionally in ScTable::CopyConditionalFormat we add the index of the copy to
the the paste area but after the old index. Therefore the conditional format
with the old index is evaluated first.
So removing the old conditional format information in the copypaste case is
always correct and has to happen outside of the IDF_ATTRIB case as we want to
clean it always. In case of IDF_ATTRIB we also copy the conditional format and
add the information into the cell information by ScDocument::AddCondFormatData

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61425] FORMCONTROLS: Move a single cell with the mouse does not work

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61425

--- Comment #2 from Heikki Moisander b...@bastu.net ---
I am not getting any later release through Ubuntu 13.04 repositories
yet. And then of course at the time I get it some later release is then
what you are looking at.

This bug has been reproducible in several PCs with various Ubuntu
version in several previous Libre Office Calc versions - now also in
4.0.0.0. It is excellent if that will be then working in 4.0.0.3 - when
ever that might become available. To be honest I don't believe it and
just lost my trust on this process. In my opinion there are few critical
usability bugs in Libre Office that prevent efficient serious business
use. Maybe they appear only to Ubuntu users then - one can believe what
one likes. Unfortunately there seems to be no channel for ordinary user
like me to report about them. I believe this is the reason those bugs
exist and MS Office seems like an only option. Developers do not use
office package in the way the target group is using and bugs do not
appear meaningful to them.

I wish all the best to the community
Heikki

profile ….\LODev\4\: File will not be opened, nothing happens when I try to
open reporter's sample from LibO start Center File Dialog

Same FILEOPEN effect with 4.0.0.3

FILEOPEN Works fine with 3.6.5

That's a little strange. Reporter's sample is valid ODF 1.2 due to
http://odf-validator2.rhcloud.com/odf-validator2/, so LibO should be able to
open it.

I saved the document from 3.6.5 as strict 1.2, compatible and extended, all 3
opened fine with 4.0.1.1 and 4.0.0.3, and documents saved from 4.0.0.3 in the
same mode opened fine in 4.0.0.3 again.

I found out that in my documents saved from 3.6.5 3 three .svg pictures are
missing in pictures sub folder (because of that all my documents have 423 kB
instead of 469 kB), no idea whether that is related to the problem.

May be we should open a second Bug concerning the FILESAVE problem?

@Andreas Balg:
Do these results bring up any ideas concerning the reasons?
Can you attach the latest version of the document what can be opened with LibO
4.0.0.3 and an instruction how to created the damaged one?

There is an easy way to create a frame around a table:

1. Table » Select » Table (or double Ctrl-A in a table)
2. Insert » Frame

Or with two clicks:

1. Click on the corner of the table to select it.
2. Click on the Insert Frame Manually icon of the Insert toolbar.

Check also the Alignment » Automatic option of the table for automatic resizing
of the column widths with the frame width, if needed.

But I support the idea to add a little button to the table corner or something
similar to simplify (to be more intuitive) the frame conversion (it may be good
for a GSoC project, too).

Steps to reproduce bug on LibreOffice Version 4.0.0.3 (Build ID:

(1) Start Draw
(2) Select rectangle tool and click and drag a rectangle (do not resize it
after this)
(3) Immediately, click the Area toolbar button (shaped like a bucket).
(4) Select gradients tab.
(5) select gradient 2
(6) Click OK.
Most times this will crash. If the image is resized several times before this
it will not crash.

I did some tests with a document based on reporter's sample, saved from LibO
3.6.5, with added .svg from att. 2013-02-27 11:54 UTC, Andreas Balg. I can not
reproduce the FILESAVE problem.

But the fileopen problem should be checked as long as we do not know what
happens. Reporter's sample can't be opened with AOOo 3.4.1, either.
LibO 3.4.5 and LibO 3.3.3 open the document without problems (others not
tested).

Currently only normal priority.

@Andreas Balg:
Please open a separate Bug for the FILESAVE problem if you can make it
reproducible (and/or more documents are affected) and leave a comment here.

Indentation was just an example. The menu I was referring to is opened when you
select some text, right click, and choose the menu item above cut (don´t know
what it is in English, in German it´s Absatzvorlage bearbeiten (perhaps
Format paragraph)).

There you can modify multiple aspects of the paragraph that allow way more than
just the buttons.

I have the same problem on 4.0.0.3, Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit.

I have managed to make it work, but only through a convoluted process as
follows.

1. Create your document.
2. Add pages (more than 3).
3. Change page style Default Style Header Content Header on (on), Same
content left/right (off) and Same content on first page (off).
4. Add headers: first page, left, and right. They should all differ.
5. Change the first page to Right Page.

The same applies to the footer.

But, try as I may, I cannot get this to work in a longstanding document that
was already created with headers and footers.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38144] Functionality request:UI Option in Writer to enable snap to grid in ruler

I totally agree, I raised the issue YEARS ago in OOo, founded (with a small
donation as a thank you and convincing a developer) the implementation of the
snap in Koffice, and today, with 4.0 out, I feel really sad that to set
visually the margin at 2cm I can't do with drag and drop. Basic UI design
principles dictate that gizmos must be manipulated in a useful and reasonable
way, having the ruler be moved of 1/100 millimetre makes no sense, if I want
1/100 precision I will use the indent and spacing, for all the rest I must be
able to drag the ruler.

It appears that the tabs are not displayed correctly in the ruler. Adding a tab
by clicking on the ruler doesn't work, but adding it using the Tabs tab in
the paragraph formatting dialog works fine.

The attached screen capture shows the tabs being drawn across two cells. The
image was captured when the selector was in the cell below Value. A tab had
been added at 1 via the paragraph properties dialog.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61557] New: FILEOPEN: File open dialog: file type filter

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61557

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61557
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: File open dialog: file type filter
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: mi...@cs.jhu.edu
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.5.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When opening a file, the open dialog is particularly unhelpful when trying to
override the decisions of the automatic file type detection.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

For example, I often load spreadsheets in TAB or comma delimited format
provided as either a .txt or a .tsv file. If I select 'Spreadsheet files' in
the filter these files open in writer as text files, even though from the
context it should be obvious that they should be handled as spreadsheets. To
achieve the desired functionality I have to scroll through a long list of file
types until I find the (*.csv) option.

Expected behavior:

I suggest two options here:
1. The file type detection should operate in a context specific fashion, e.g.
if specifying 'Spreadsheet files' in the filter, the code should automatically
restrict the file types to spreadsheet files.

2. There should be a way to customize the list of file types available in the
open dialog. I only use 2 or 3 file types on a regular basis (and I doubt
other users use more) and it would be nice if only these were available as
options in the Open dialog with the other ones relegated to Import.
Alternatively, the commonly used options should be moved up in the list.

This kind of functionality issue is common in other parts of libreoffice, e.g.,
in the Paste Special dialog - even here it would be useful to restrict the
types of operations that are made available depending on user preferences.

Operating System: All
Version: 3.6.5.2 release

Sample document

When you open attached document in LibreOffice, just using the page scrollbars
constantly, or using page-up page-down keys make the CPU usage go to 80-100%
and also the memory keeps on increasing about 1 MB/sec. This never stops
increasing as long as you use the page scrollbar.
In our embedded situation we have linked the sections to real sub documents. In
this case, when just open, LibreOffice uses 300 MB. When using the page
scrollbar, memory goes up to 1.8 GB and then LibreOffice just crashes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61534] Calc: Select to block margin is severely broken

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61534

After studying this problem with some coworkers, we determined what we think
the root of the problem is-

When you have select activated ( shift ) and move the cursor in any manner,
the active cell is not moving, it is staying at the starting location of the
selection process. This is a radically different (and broken) behavior. What
is expected is that when you move during a selection, the active cell moves.

Example One:

* Click on cell A1
* Press and hold shift
* Now press right
* Note the active cell (the cell with the bold border outline) is still A1 and
not B1 as it should be.

You can also see the broken behavior with the mouse. Example Two:

* Click on cell A1
* Drag out a selection with the mouse by holding down the first button.
* Without letting go, notice that the active cell (the cell with the bold
border outline) is still A1 and not the cell where the mouse cursor is/was
located, as it should be.
* When you let go of the mouse button, it is still showing the wrong cell as
active (the start of the selection instead of the end).

This above behavior explains why the shiftcontrol behavior is also broken.
When you activate control, it is looking at the data in the row or column of
the *ACTIVE CELL*. Since the active cell is not moving properly with the
keyboard arrow keys during a selection ( shift ), it is looking at the wrong
column or row and responding the wrong way.

We also found a workaround for the problem, it is a different way of trying to
select regions of data, but it is too complex right now for me to try and
explain without a visual attachment.

Another coworker pointed out that this will also break already previously

It will also break macro compatibility between LibreOffice and OpenOffice.

The other Bug 60418 talks about huge memory consumption and CPU usage WHILE
opening a complex document. This was even due to the presence of 'form:form'

This bug speaks about huge performance peaks while EDITING the document, after
it has been opened just fine.

I tested this using LibreOffice 4.0.1.0+ on Ubuntu 12.04. I did confirm that
the currently opened document becomes a mess when you have freshly installed a
font. This is without selecting the new font, it just happens. Text runs off
the page, letters are jumbled, much like the Before and after sample
attachment. However, everything goes back to normal after you close and reopen
the document, and you can view and use the new font without issue.

--- Comment #1 from Timothy M Butterworth timothy.m.butterwo...@gmail.com ---
All,

Please add Yum as an installation option to host the RPM's. This will allow any
user with any Linux Distribution that offers compliance with Linux Standard
Base LSB, RPM and YUM the option to configure the YUM repo for installation of
LibreOffice.

This can be implemented so there is one repo for both 32 and 64 bit options
which is always updated to the latest stable version of LibreOffice to keep
Linux users up to date.

Many other FLOSS projects are hosting their own Yum repo's including,
Virtualbox and Google with some proprietary members doing this as well Adobe.

Bottom line: The Yum Repo would allow for furthure acceptance and usage or
LibreOffice in its native state without modification from Linux Distributions.
Supporting Linux Distributions can be encouraged to simply include the Yum Repo
as an addon repo for their distribution. Updates can be distributed through yum
so users who's distros already utilize YUM receive updates in the same method
as they do now. Mirror directories may expand to organizations that already
host Yum repos such as Fedora and openSUSE.

This may also assist in improving the number of active developers as many
distros may work on patches and RPM fixes centrally at LibreOffice instead of
Distro specific patches.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61561] New: EDITING: senseless cutoff for duplicate function

2013-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61561

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61561
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: senseless cutoff for duplicate function
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bjo...@brezger.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Drawing
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: In a drawing with e.g. scale 1:400 and unit meter, the
Duplizieren (duplicate?) function does not accept any x or y arguments
(Verschiebung X-Achse / Verschiebung Y-Achse) larger than 1,00 m - although
the page size (A4) is equivalent to 84 m x 118,80 m

Steps to reproduce:
1. open empty drawing
2. set scale to 1:400 and unit to Meter
3. sometimes you need to repeat step 2 - but on the second try the scale and
unit change always work out (this is a bug I know from several OpenOffice
versions, too)
4. create a rectangle e.g. 1m x2m
5. evoke the duplicate function (Shift+F3) and enter e.g. 1,5m in the x- or
y-shift field

Current behavior:
as soon as one goes on to a different input field, the input is truncated to
1,00 m

Expected behavior:
The function should accept input as least as large as the paper size (taking
into account the actual scale)
