Please do not misunderstand my intentions, I do not doubt that there is a bug
or similar.
We will have to relaunch this report, during research concerning the roots of
the problem here we have got too many different problems mixed up in too many
conflicting comments, so it has become more or impossible to find out what
really the cuurrent problem might be. So please help to create separate bugs
one by one concerning the different problems with different OS with different
.eps

Please report only new separate bugs for problems still reproducible with LibO
.6 or later.

Plase only report bugs concerning 1 particular .eps in the base bug demo

We will leave this one as a Task bug for all problems ONLY visible with
presentation (most of them will be related to SLIDESHOW mode, not to EDIT mode.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61622] Problem scaling symbol in Math

2013-03-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61622

Hi Andrea,

I'm not a developper. Here, I just try to help bug sorting. You have rights,
like anybody, to change bug priority. Just write why. You have a flowchart at:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/0/06/Prioritizing_Bugs_Flowchart.jpg
that help. For me, this bug prevent users from making professional work, so it
have to be set to Normal and perhaps Medium for second set because we cannot
change this behavior. We have also to underline this is a Windows 8 special
issue. But I don't know how.

Regards.

Jacques Guilleron

This .eps works fine

I found this during my research for "Bug 47458 - [Task] EPS graphics not
displayed properly"

Steps how to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.6.5.2 " German UI/ German Locale
[Build-ID: 5b93205] {pull date 2013-01-18} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

1. Open presentation in Attachment 70774 for Bug 47458 from
   LibO Start Center File menu
Expected: Simple picture with text "Hello World" in it shown
Actual: only brown rectangle around an empty transparent area shown as
placeholder, no placeholder text shown in it.

More test results concerning separate "An_even_simpler_EPS.eps" in test kit:
- Same view when
  -- fileopen with Draw
-- Menu 'Insert -> Picture from File - An_even_simpler_EPS.eps' in Draw,
Calc
 and Impress
- additional Placeholder info (Creator, Creation Date, Language Level, Title)
shown whne inserted into Writer document

Additional Info:
Already reproducible with LibO 3.3.3 and AOOo 3.4.0, so inherited from OOo
Still the same in Master.
There are smaller differences, but I never see a picture back until OOo 1.1.5

Most .eps sample drawings seem to be affected, but not all

@all:
Can you confirm (exactly!) this behavior with other OS for LibO 3.6 or later?

is not a particular Impress bug, but might help to separate the many different

My document for the bugreport with negative numbers and a sum, all with correct
formatting.

Problem description:
Negative numbers in sums aren't displayed in red font-color after loading the
spreadsheet. Cells are formatted as numbers (or currency) and selected
"negative in red" (I'm on the german UI). While first editing, the formatting
is displayed correctly. After saving and loading the document, the negative

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new spreadsheet.
2. Enter some negative numbers in cells of a column.
3. Make a sum of these negative numbers.
4. Format column als "numbers" (or "currency") and "negative in red".
5. Everything should be displayed correctly.
6. Save and close the document.
7. Load the document.
8. "Static" numbers should be displayed in correct formatting: red font-color.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62054] New: ACCESSIBILITY: Can't use Cmd+A in "Save As..." window on Mac

Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Hi!

I am encountering a minor annoyance of the LibreOffice GUI, which I think could
be fixed easily

Problem description:
In all applications on Mac, you can use Cmd+A to select all text in your
current active window or dialog. However, in LibreOffice, Cmd+A does not work
in "Save as" window, so if you somehow deselected the default filename in this
window, you must delete the default filename manually and then start writing
the new one. It can be quite annoying, when you need to work with many new
files.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a new document on LibreOffice
2. Open the "Save as" window
3. Click into the filename column, so the filename gets unselected
3. Try using Cmd+A to select it again
4. Nothing happens... (and that is the bug)
5. Try the same in any other application on Mac to see what should happen when
you press Cmd+A.

Current behavior:
Cmd+A doen't do anything in the "Save as" window.

Expected behavior:
I expected that Cmd+A will always select all the text in the active window or
dialog.

I know, this is a really marginal thing, but I miss my Cmd+A so much! Thanks.

gdb run, but with backtrace this time

Ah yes, there is GCC Java. In the release notes for LibreOffice 4.0.1 Final
(2013-03-06): "If you run Linux, the GCJ Java variant has known issues with
LibreOffice, we advise to e.g. use OpenJDK instead."

Java version:
gcc-java-4.5.2-x86_64
gcc-java-4.7.1-x86_64

Although in the LO options, it lists JRE from the Free Software Foundation,
version 1.5.0 .

I DO reproduce the problem if I enable Java again.
I renamed the profile directories in .libreoffice (no longer used, I know) and
in .config/libreoffice , and the problem persists.

Sorry about that. Didn't realize gdb had a specific backtrace option too. File
is attached as gdb-with-backtrace.log .

After updating to LO-4.0.1.2 , the problem is solved. No more crashing.

Problem description:
I created a diagram (see attached file). Then I copy it, paste in new Calc
document – here diagram in y axis became as categories, and categories became
as y axis. If I paste to Write – diagram is not distorted.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open atached document
2. copy diagram
3. paste diagram in new Calc document

Current behavior:
Categories in legend moved to y axis;
and y axis items moved to legend categories.

Expected behavior:
The same diagram is pasted

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61587] : Link to External Data no longer works in 4.0.0.3 (was working in 3.6.4.3

2013-03-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61587

I think the problem may lie in the following code from FindExtRange() in code
file arealink.cxx:

version 3.6.5.2
const ScRangeData* p =
pNames->findByUpperName(ScGlobal::pCharClass->uppercase(rAreaName));

version 4.0.1.2
const ScRangeData* p = pNames->findByUpperName(rAreaName);

As you can see in the latest version the search for a range name is successful
only if the name is in uppercase.

To test this I created a file called data.ods with a data range called test.
When I opened another workbook and tried to create a Link to External Data the
text "The link could not be updated." was displayed.
I then reopened the data.ods file and changed the range name to TEST. The Link
to External Data request then worked and the data was imported.

And other than communicating that I had just upgraded to version 4.0.0.3 and
that this HAD NOT OCCURRED WITH PRIOR VERSION 3.x.x.x and that the spreadsheet
is of 13 columns and 29 rows there is nothing that I can add. I HAVE DESCRIBED
A STEP-BY-STEP WHAT LED TO THE MESSAGE WHICH I ALSO QUOTED! AND WHETHER IT
INSERTS THE ROW IN THE LOCATION SELECTED, ABOVE OR BELOW IS OF LITTLE
CONSEQUENCE WHAT MATTERS IS THAT IT WOULD NOT INSERT A NEW ROW!

PLEASE ACT PROFESSIONALLY AND DON'T GET SNIPPY. I had been an Open Office user
until Libre Office came into being at which time I switched to Libre Office and
wish it to continue being a success. Giving attitude when a problem is reported
will not solve things or promote the product.

No, not at all. Except for developers nobody should mark duplicates of
performance bugs. Nearly always assumptions about performance problems are
wrong. In this case here the problem is that we started to import row heights
from OOXML and use the UNO API for it. This is such a horrible idea that it
causes a freeze of the load process because we are doing way to much crazy
stuff there.

The solution is to remove the UNO API from the row height import and use
ScDocument directly.

I'm living in the french part of Switzerland and we use generally the comma as
the decimal symbole in numbers. All people I know in Switzerland use the comma
and not the point in numbers.

The decimal symbole should be independent of the language, since in a same
country, some people prefere the point and other the comma as a decimal point.
In LIBRE office, let the people be FREE to choose their way to write numbers !

Try in math to type 3,14 over 3.14 or 3.14 over 3,14 to see the problem.

Thank you for your great work, Bernard Gisin.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62066] New: CONFIGURATION: python vs python2

  Reporter: sjn...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.1.2 release
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

I do not have python>=3.3 installed on my instance, but do have python2>=2.7.
I've created a symbolic link from /usr//usr/bin/python to point to
/usr/bin/python2 for certain installed programs that require "python" in
general, but not specifically python>=3.3 as I have no need for python>=3.3,
but do need at least python2. When trying to upgrade libreoffice to the latest
version from version 3.6.5-1 to 4.0.1-1, specifically on libreoffice-common,
pacman fails to complete the install because of the existing symbolic link:

"error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
python: /usr/bin/python exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded."

Version 3.6.5-1 did not require python>=3.3, are we sure that version 4.0.1-1
can't be run with python2? I don't see anything in the release notes
(http://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/) or the system requirements
(http://www.libreoffice.org/download/system-requirements/) noting a change to
or requirement for python>=3.3.

Additionally, I tried to build the libreoffice package myself, updating the
python requirement to python2>=2.7 in the PKGINFO file. When running "makepkg
-s" I ran into an issue when it got to the "./configure" part of the build.
Seems it is still looking for python>=3.3, however the "./configure" file
appears to have some checks for other versions of python in it, I'm just not
well versed enough to understand what exactly it is looking for.

I've also tried to build with the option "--enable-python=internal", with a
difference failure, shown here: http://pastebin.ca/2330306

Suffice to say, for the time being I have added libreoffice, and the rest of
the libreoffice group packages to my ignore list until such time I can find
resolution to the python version issue.

Yes, I am pretty sure that this automatic error-bar scaling feature was never
in the 3.5 series. But I don't think this is a critical bug, it's more of an
enhancement.

Sample document shows unexpected error message, but it's not a bug

@reporter (In reply to comment #4):
I told you that it is not plausible that such a visible problem exists as a
general problem; we of QA team and developers of course use 4.0.0.3 version and
would have seen that problem. And of course I did an extra test.

We only can fix bugs we can reproduce, and even if it's not a bug, we can try
to help you with your problem. But precondition always is that you contribute
required (requested) information.

Of course I can construct documents showing your error message unexpectedly,
for example attached document (open document and try to insert a row after
having selected all row 15). But that's not a bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62067] New: VIEWING: Crashes on page preview

2013-03-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62067

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 62067
  Keywords: regression
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: VIEWING: Crashes on page preview
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: amndeep.v...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.7.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
LibreOffice Calc/the spreadsheet application crashes entirely when you open a
document and then put it into the page preview view. The document works fine
by itself, but a couple seconds after you press the page preview button
(basically when it appears to be done loading all of the components and
finished making all of the UI changes) the entire program crashes. It is
possible to recover all of the work that had been saved beforehand (but nothing
that was not saved) through the recovery mechanism that is built-in and
activates every time that this crash occurs.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a document in Calc.
2. Click on the page preview button.
3. Watch it crash.

Current behavior:
Crashes when you open the page preview.
Expected behavior:
Should not crash when you open the page preview.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 3.5.7.2 release
Last worked in: 3.5.6.2 release

User Profile:

1. Download / open Attachment 76228 for Bug 62031
2. Click Row heading of row 15 in sheet "Tabelle2"
3. Menu 'Insert -> Rows'
   Expected: row inserted
Actual: Error message "Filled Cells cannot be shifted beyond the sheet"
although it's obvious that there is no contents behind cell A15
(try , will lead to cell A15

Reason for the message is a formula in cell A8 with a reference to cell
A1048576. So an error message is appropriate, no row can be inserted because
that would destroy reference in cell A8. But that message for this special case
should be more specific like "References cannot be beyond the sheet" or so.
Even Better: "Reference in Cell A8 (and may be others) cannot be beyond the
sheet". If there are several reasons prohibiting the insertion I think it would
be enough to show an arbitrary one.

I do not see more specific messages back until OOo 1.1.5, so inherited from
OOo.
Also Symphony and AOOo 3.4.1 and Lotus Symphony Release 3.0.1 Revision
20120110.2000 don't do that better. SoftMaker FreeOffice simply destroys the
reference without a warning. So no high priority for this one.

In fact, Calc behaves correctly.

This XLS file is really HTML. It contains one huge table and has empty
tags (table cells) where numbers ought to be. Some moron at Microsoft decided,
that instead of exporting numbers to content (so any HTML-compliant app
could read them), they will write them in x:num attribute.

Of course x:num is NOT correct HTML attribute and Calc - as every good-behaving
user agent should - ignores them.

You may try downloading file attached by Marek Ozana, renaming it to
"REON-Tables.html" and opening in web browser. Table will be mostly empty, as
in Calc.

So, while Calc behavior is correct and expected, it can lead to
interoperability problem. This particular file declares to be created by MS
Office Excel 2003 (which is rather old), but:
a) who knows how many "XLS" files like this are there on the wild
b) who knows whether newer Excel versions are saner

I am changing title of this bug, so it will show point of this bug more
accurately.

In *both* cases the file is not entirely imported. It is truncated at exact the

Could you attach HTML file on which you encounter this problem?

As for "Page from file does not accept parameters in URL" issue: please file
another bug report and provide real URL address.
Please do the same for "On Page from file, user can not select table in

Generally, rule of thumb is to post one bug report for one issue.

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)

 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 76233
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=76233&action=edit
example of two frame bugs

(1) take the attachment, put the cursor in front of "here" and hold Delete.
Desired behavior: everything after it gets deleted incl. the frame 2 on p. 2,
but instead frame 2 gets put onto p. 1. Thus, if one ahs a document with many
frames and wants to delete many pages with many frames, one has to all delete
them one by one, which is counterintuitive

(2) Put the cursor in front of XXX1 in the table and insert a frame. Even if
you set the background of the frame to No Fill, the resulting frame has the
same background shading as the cell to which it is attached (see frame 3). This
is annoying because it means I can't attrach frames where they belong - i have
to cheat and anchor them to the page so they have no background.

I can see the double borders (on sheet 3) with LO 4.0.1.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit),
but I am not sure if this is maybe an OO bug that it does not show the double
borders. When I check the format of the cells I can also confirm that they are
marked as double borders.

So far so good - but when I save this file with LO 4.0.1.2 as a xls file I
experienced a buggy result. After reopening it with LO there are no longer
double borders, only single borders. But if I open it with MSO 2007 it shows
the double borders. In addition, the ods file has only 34 kb, but the xls file
has now 1.354 kb. But it is even getting worse. When I try to save this file
as a xlsx file, then LO hangs up. I tried it several times and always I had to
close it with the task manager, but once it saved a xlsx file, but this was
corrupted. Therefore, I raised the importance of this bug report.

Can anybody else confirm this?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52428] : FORMATTING: free region between the inserted image and text

Now I have it: reproducible with LO 4.0.1.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit).

The first time I had done the following steps:
1. Opened WRITER
2. Went to VIEW and activated to show NON-PRINTING CHARACTERS
3. Inserted a few empty lines
4. Inserted a smaller picture in the last line and in one of the lines before
5. Then I anchored it AS CHARACTER (Menu FORMAT -> ANCHOR or via right mouse
click)

Result: Everything was fine.

The important step is either this mentioned resizing or inserting a picture
wider than the standard page layout.

Case 1: Wider Picture
If you insert a smaller picture everything is fine, but if you insert a wider
picture then you will have the empty space below the picture.

Case 2: Resizing
If you shrink the picture then you will have again this empty space below the
picture. But for this it is important to shrink the picture after anchoring as
character, otherwise you will also not experience this bug.

Well it dosent show anything because you dont have any templates of that type
in the folder, so im not sure if i should consider this a bug or not? Maybe a
message should be shown that theres no templates of that type? Or we should
change the behaviour to what you expect? Its not really clear to me how to
approach this.

the colour of bullet points or list numbering

I have a slideshow with a bulleted list from my master slide. I change the
formatting of one letter in indentation level 3 and paste that letter into
another line with indentation level 3 and it messes up the bullet point, which
becomes a bit bigger. Worse even, if you undo this, the bullet becomes even
bigger! See sequence of screenshots

Peter Jentsch changed:

I had a first quick look today. The issue seems to be related to the greater
maximum number of rows in calc since 3.x (I don't remember since when we
support more than 65536 rows). There seems to be an overflow in evaluating the
number of repeated rows that leads to an endless recursion in one of the XSLT
templates in table.xsl.

I'll have a look later to come up with a fix. Should be easy, though.

Unfortunately affects all XSLT calc export operations (for MS Excel 2003) since
extending the maximum number of rows. May or may not be related to the libxslt
port.

The libxslt port suffers from a less graceful handling of endless recursion:
depending on the maximum amount of stack available libxslt crashes or stops
processing after reaching the internal treshold (which we could set
considerably lower than the default, to prevent futures crashed).

Whatever -- it's seriously broken. I'll try to fix it.

This is not a Mac OS issue only. I can confirm this - it is reproducible with
LO 4.0.1.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit). Although, I cannot confirm it with a new empty
sheet or a simple sheet with only a few numbers.

I did not know about this bug report and was right now confirming the bug 55928
and there I experienced this behavior. In this bug report 55928 an ods file is
attached. If I try to save this file as "Microsoft Excel 2007/2010 XML
(.xlsx)" or "OpenOffice XML Spreadsheet (.xlsx)" file LO crashes.

I can save it as "OpenDocument Spreadsheet (Flat XML) (.fods)", "Microsoft
Excel 97/2000/XP/2003 (.xls)" and "Microsoft Excel 2003 XML (.xml)" files. But
with the xml LO crashes if I try to reopen it. The fods and xls file I can
reopen, but in both cases these files are much larger than the original ods
file.

In all cases when LO crashes I can only close it with the task manager - very
critical.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60586] [Template manager] Switching tabs does not update breadcrumbs

2013-03-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60586

Well, new template manager gives impression that directories are exclusive for
document types (so I can not put Writer template in "Presentation bacgrounds"
dir). I know that technically this is not correct and each directory can
contain templates for every program.

Due to this impression, I though that breadcrumbs were not updated. I did it
even that I know how LO handles templates on filesystem-level. I think it is
safe to assume that most users (who do not know about work done behind the
doors) will expect the same I expected in original message and will consider
this a bug.

Basically, this is caused by maybe-not-the-wisest design decision to make tabs
act like a filters for content. Most users familiar with tabs (from web
browsers, e-mail readers or file managers) expect that switching tabs changes
context. In web browser I can be on one page in tab A and second page on tab B.
In LibreOffice, in both tab A and tab B I am still in the same place; they just
show me different things (and this filtering may result in empty list, further
confusing me).
Using drop-down list for filtering would be much better. But this is on
side-note.

Ok. I reproduce the problem with "snap to grid = OFF".
As described, if we move a little the mouse when button is pressed, the point

Screenshot of the drop down list

Hi,

How to reproduce:
* Open Writer
* Open Format > 'Styles and Formatting' (F11)
* Open the dropdown box at the bottom of that dialog

Current behavior: the first entry (hierarchical) is not shown. Only viewable
when you scroll up.

Solution:
* increase MAX_FILTER_ENTRIES 12
to 14

Why 14 and not 13 as there are only 13 filters for now?
* I would like to implement another filter "unused styles" as soon as I can
(Bug 46719), so then we'll have the same "problem".

Any objections?

Kind regards,
Joren

Well in some way we need a document to reproduce your problem. It is impossible
in a million line codebase to find an issue just by guessing.

So you have 3 solutions:
a) Accept that you don't want to provide a test case and that we can't fix it
then
b) Open a bug report at Launchpad and see what happens there (the Ubuntu
bugtracker)
c) Remove all the confidential information in your document and provide us with
a this version.

There is theoretically another way. You can use the official Ubuntu PPA and
upgrade LibO to 3.6 or 4.0.1. See https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice for more
information about the official PPA.
