[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64889] EDITING: Enhancement: Enable cross reference to a text box (insert frame) in Writer

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64889

--- Comment #1 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
Created attachment 79734
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=79734action=edit
Example ODT containing three types of frame objects (all named).

The original discussion for this bug is here:

http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/11182/how-can-i-make-a-cross-reference-to-a-text-box/

There are three effective frames in the attached example. One is inserted via
Insert Frame... and has this XML:

draw:frame draw:style-name=fr1 draw:name=Frame1
text:anchor-type=paragraph svg:width=119.99pt svg:height=60.01pt
draw:z-index=2
draw:text-box
...
/draw:text-box
/draw:frame

The second is a graphic (Insert Picture...) and has this XML:

draw:frame draw:style-name=fr2 draw:name=graphics1
text:anchor-type=paragraph svg:width=299.99pt svg:height=150.01pt
draw:z-index=1
draw:image xlink:href=Pictures/119000C815A4DFE2.jpg
xlink:type=simple xlink:show=embed xlink:actuate=onLoad/
/draw:frame

The third is a text box (inserted via the Drawing toolbar) and has this XML:

draw:frame text:anchor-type=paragraph draw:z-index=0 draw:name=Textbox1
draw:style-name=gr1 svg:width=120.02pt svg:height=76.48pt
svg:x=361.84pt svg:y=18pt
draw:text-box
...
/draw:text-box
/draw:frame

All three objects are named (e.g., Frame1, graphics1, and Textbox1
respectively) and yet it is not possible to insert a cross-reference to any of
these objects via the usual Insert Cross-reference... Cross-reference tab
settings. No names for any of these objects show up.

I forgot to mention that this is likely related to bug #36310, although that
bug is specifically requesting drag-n-drop functionality for cross-references
from Navigator. Implementing that functionality would however seem to require
allowing cross-references to be made to Draw objects and Text frames (probably
via name as indicated here).

Please look at the middle of the images to see icons I am talking about. One
just has to click in the general area for the White space to be shown or

Thanks.

Thanks for explanations. As I can understand, problem in this bugreport is
different. Cross-reference saved correctly, but is not clicable. We should
place something into Cross-reference field to make it larger. As variants may
be some word such as link or icon such as --.

If you want to type Ω in the formula editor of a french version of LibreOffice,
you have to type: %OMÉGA. It is inconvenient for two reasons:
- it is inconvenient to type a serie of uppercase characters.
- there is no key on french keyboards for É so you have to use the symbol
catalogue with the mouse.

Two proposed solutions:
- %Oméga would suffice to specify the upper case greek letter. Just use the
upper case for the first character (as done in Lyx).
- add an option to use the english codes in the formula editor (no
localization)

Muthu - what's the story here, you had to revert this from the suse branch too
did we need to update the bug state here or revert this from elsewhere ?

The result of the original patch was to apparently discard several charts from
my bug-metrics spreadsheet ;-) I'd hope we could come up with a regression test
in parallel for that so this doesn't recur.

It should be possible to go directly to the relevant part of the formula by a
simple click (have a look at lyx to see a much more convenient approach).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64951] New: escape in the formula editor should place the cursor after the formula

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64951

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64951
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: escape in the formula editor should place the cursor
after the formula
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: parre...@ujf-grenoble.fr
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Formula Editor
   Product: LibreOffice

When you write a formula, the most convenient way to close it is with the
escape key.
However, when you do that, the cursor is placed before the formula, which is
inconvenient if you want to continue writing your text.

Thorsten i think the current slideshow.cxx does mention something like the

use the same thing by XML export (as you have mentioned in Comment#3) .

Any further explanation or suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated.

--- Comment #1 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---
Hi Frederic,

A formulea is placed as an object. The same as for example a diagram, or a part
of a spreadsheet in a text document.
An object has to be activated before it is possible to work in it.

I doubt very much if that behaviour of double clicking can be changed. So if
this issue is not te be closed as 'won't fix' then it would be an enhancement.

(What maybe helps a bit: if one object is selected, the context menu has the
item 'Edit'. Done with editing Escape, and then Tab goes to the next
formula.)

Cheers,
Cor

Hi Cor,
I understand there are internal reasons why this is not easy to do.
The bottom line is that LO is not very convenient for writing mathematics.
The developers should have a closer look at this use case (they can take many
ideas from lyx which is specialized on mathematics).

Yes, you are right, you actually need to type twice escape: the first time the
formula is closed but the object is still selected, the second time the cursor
is re-activated.
OK so the proposed solution would be to place the cursor after the selected
object when the space key is typed.

1. Open a dialog box in Calc and enter text over the default text.
2. Default text and entered text both remain visible in text field.

For example insert a new sheet and rename the sheet. Default sheet name remains
when new name is entered.

New entered text is nonetheless effectively entered and displayed on new sheet.

N.B. I can only be certain of version to a resolution of 3.6. In general I am
sorry to say due to this and other multipble libreoffice calc bugs I ditched
libreoffice 3.6 on oSuSE 12.3 and now use Debian 7.0 and libreoffice 3.5.4.2
which is less buggy from my point of view.

[I appreciate you probably have resource problems and greatly appreciate the
hard and good work you have all done. But I would suggest a few good quality
releases are better than more lower quality releases.]

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64955] New: When migrate graph and data from LO 3.5 to 3.6 horizontal axis reversed.

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64955

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64955
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: When migrate graph and data from LO 3.5 to 3.6
horizontal axis reversed.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: ceann...@telenet.be
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.3.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

When updating a calc document containing 140+1 sheets from LibreOffice 3.5 to
3.6, the graph display reversed after the addition of a new sheet and an update
of one line of tabled data.

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64956

Summary: Copy comment text to the page itself result in a white
text color
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: joren.libreoff...@telenet.be
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.3.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Thanks to Bug 64924 I can report this issue (in a separate report)

How to reproduce:
* Open writer
* Create a comment (Insert Comment)
* Type some random text in the comment
* Select all text in the comment and copy it
* Paste it in the document itself

Result: white pasted text

You have to manually change the font color to another color. I think I don't
have to explain this but: quite annoying because the most common page
background color is white :-).

Kind regards,
Joren

Hi,

Thanks for reporting

(In reply to comment #0)
1 when you have made a comment and want to use the text from it by copy /
paste into a document it comes out as white text, then one must highlight
 and select the font color.
I create a seperate bug for that one. Please report this issues as separate
bugs. I create Bug 64956.

2 you can not choose the font for all the comments at once but must do it
for each comment separately. it would be nice if it could be changed.
Agreed to that, lets change this enhancement request focused to this.

3 (and probably the most annoying problem): You can not print it as part of
 the text. [...]
I this improved printing of comments feature is already highly discussed in
Bug 36815 , which is also a project for Google Summer of Code (GSoC). I
actually don't know yet someone request to work on that (will be announced May
27). Please read the comments and provided links in that bug comment for the
'direction' we are going with this project.
If you still would like to see add some features to it, please feel free to
create a separate enhancement request for it. (Maybe after the printing of
comments is improved).

So lets change this enhancement request to problem '2': make it possible to
alter formatting of comment text at once

Kind regards,
Joren

Thanks Thomas!

As I said in IRC, I can reproduce this behavior using Mac OSX 10.8.3 with
LibreOffice 43c234b0481fe63b8c4823affad066c6362f506.
I don't have this behavior using LibreOffice 4.0.3.3, so that's definitely a
regression.

I saw already some related/same bugs passing by regarding this issue, but they
are reported against older versions of LibreOffice. This is a regression, so
lets report it separately and as such.

Due the fact this is a regression and is !very! annoying and is a *core*
feature (writing is a core feature in writer, right ;-)?) I mark this as
Critical Medium.

Kind regards,
Joren

We will need some kind of a test case to see this. The simpler the better. Can
you strip your document down to let's say 1 or 2 charts and attach it here?
Also, have you tested this on 4.0?

In the future please provide steps as to how you reproduce bugs as it helps
tremendously - even in cases where it seems quite straight forward. In this
case knowing what type of graphs you're using, testing on the latest release is
always a plus when reporting (even if you choose to stick on 3.6 series).

Thanks for your help, going to mark this as NEEDINFO, attach the document and
then mark as UNCONFIRMED and we will investigate. A ton of work has gone into
charts in the past couple months so good chance it's fixed in 4.0 series.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39007] Persistent Restore Windows dialog won't disappear, disables key functionality

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39007

--- Comment #76 from Norbert Thiebaud nthieb...@gmail.com ---

1/ the fix
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=41747c962603222b2d6221a9f5fca28cd71c103a
is in 4.0 and above. so yes 3.5 and 3.6 versions are not 'fixed', and are not
'forward' compatible to new version of Mac OSX.
These version were never meant to support or tolerate OS 10.8 since that did
not exist then they were branched

2/ bear in mind that the fix does not solve the problem of a pre-existing issue
with the restore dialogue popping up. the patch prevent it from occuring in the
first place. iow if you had the 'restore dialog' problem and install the new
version that it itself will not solve it. in 4.0 and above with the patch
indicated above, we tell MacOSX _not_ to save the dreaded savedState file that
the 'workaround' teach us to manually delete.
But if that 'state' file already exist there is no other solution but to delete
it first.

3/ with that in mind: I could not reproduce the problem on a Mac 10.8.2
I start a new instance force quit either on the launch screen or in a calc
document. I restart LibreOffice = no native MacOSX 'Restore Document'
Dialogue.

4/ if someone can reproduce the problem, please post what version of the OS you
are using + any relevant 'extensions' you use like accessibility; and please
post a recipe how to reproduce, with a LibreOffice version of 4.0 or more

--- Comment #1 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
I can confirm the problem on 3.6.6.2 release but it's been fixed in 4.0 series
so marking as WORKSFORME. There is a chance the fix will be backported to 3.6.7
but without knowing the exact patch that fixed it I can't request the developer
to backport it. I recommend upgrading to 4.0 if you're comfortable doing so, it
uses a whole new profile so it shouldn't affect your 3.6 profile at all.

Thanks for the report!

OK so the proposed solution would be to place the cursor after the selected
object when the space key is typed.

This is what happens with me.
What OS LibreOffice do you have?
thanks

--- Comment #3 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
I'm able to confirm this on 3.6.6.2 release, updating version as version
reflects oldest version that we see the issue - this is likely even older,
maybe all the way back to beginning of LibreOffice days but I don't have the
means to test that assumption right now.

Marking as:
New
Minor - doens't prevent high quality work, but can slow it down a little
Low - default seems appropriate, relatively easy to workaround this issue.

a test document would help a lot in this case so that we can confirm the
behaviour. The simpler the better for QA purposes.

I believe that this is a duplicate of another bug but I can't find the fdo#
unfortunately.

Marking as NEEDINFO - once you attach the document, tell us what to do in the
document and mark the bug as UNCONFIRMED - we will triage the bug and move it
along the line. Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64951] escape in the formula editor should place the cursor after the formula

2013-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64951

--- Comment #4 from Frederic Parrenin parre...@ujf-grenoble.fr ---
I have LO 4.0.2.2 on Ubuntu 13.04.
Actually, when the formula is selected and I press escape, sometimes the cursor
is placed before the formula and sometimes after. It depends on the spacing you
have specified around the formula: without spacing, the cursor is placed before
but with the default spacing it is placed after.

I'm using inches but I do see that the #'s are definitely changing.

Bodhi Linux
LibreOffice Version 3.6.6.2

Marking as:
New
Minor - doesn't prevent high quality work but can slow it down substantially
High - in general these are low but I think column width is one of those things
that most people expect to work correctly. Furthermore it's a feature that
essentially anyone using spreadsheet depends on (ie. not some special feature)

Thanks for the clear report, really easy to triage this one due to attachment
and steps :)
