[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66354] New: FORMATTING: Autofit Text does not work properly

2013-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 66354
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Autofit Text does not work properly
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bugquestcon...@online.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 81671

sample file with 2 slides

Problem description:
When pasting a longer unformatted text into a text frame of Impress the Autofit
Text function makes the text too small to optimally (= up to maximum on font
size) fit the text frame/

Steps to reproduce:
1. paste unformated longer Lorem Ipsum text innto a text frame (longer then
what would normally fit into a text window of Impress)
= font becomes so small that text does not fill the text frame
= font size indicatior shows default font size of the text window and is muchj
bigger then what is displayed in the text window
2. Check if Autofit Text is ON = is on
3. Duplicate slide by right click on slide in Slides window and select
Dublicate
4. Select text frame that size can be adjusted by “Reduce Font” toolbar icon
5. Click “Reduce Font” icon = font size increases, text frame is better filled
6. Repeat step 5 until text frame is filled to maximum
7. Continue step 5 = font size reduces and text frame filling is less than
maximum

Note 1: Using “Increase Font” button after step 4 decreases the font further
and the filling of the text frame gets less.

Note 2: In the sample slide a bullet ls used but the same effect is observed
with bullets off.

Current behavior:
Text appears too small; text frame not filled to maximum

Expected behavior:
Text fills the text frame so to its maximum

(In reply to comment #7)
Is this still an issue in 4.0/4.1/master?

Hello!

I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like it is, but in both, source and target
file conditions in example file in I5 cell looks a bit strange -
$Tabelle1.$T5#REF! and $Tabelle1.$T5=#REF!
I guess some value is converted to #REF! while opening in 4.0.4.2.
In 4.1.0.0.beta1 it looks exactly the same.

I don't have other versions of libreoffice, but in openoffice.org 2.4.2 the
same condition looks the same. Probably something is messed up already in
sample files.

From everyday work I have feeling, that the problem, that my problem is solved
in 4.0.4

So, could we change:

Screenshot of LibreOffice bug side-by-side with NeoOffice's correct rendering
of font

Problem description:

There is a font on the Mac called Hoefler Text, an elegant serif font,
Apple's version of Garamond. In the latest LibreOffice (4.0.4), and earlier,
text formatted as Hoefler Text is rendered--incorrectly--as an ordinary-looking
sans-serif font. If the same text is changed to bold or italic, the text is
shown in the correct, elegant, bold or italic serif font, but if it is not
formatted as bold or italic, the problem persists--the wrong font is rendered.
I have not noticed any similar problem with any other Apple font.

This problem also occurs in OpenOffice, but not in NeoOffice, and not in any
other application on the Mac that I have tried. The font is rendered properly
in such diverse apps as Thunderbird mail composer, Finale and MuseScore
music-writing apps, and the native Mac apps TextEdit and FontBook.

I have attached a screenshot of a LibreOffice window and a NeoOffice window,
side-by-side, both with four lower-case and upper-case alphabets formatted as
Hoefler Text, in regular, italic, bold, and bold italic. It is quite obvious
from the screenshot that the upright (regular) text is rendered as the wrong
font in LibreOffice.

Also note in the example that in NeoOffice, when a word ends in t and is
formatted as Hoefler Text italic (both bold and not bold), the final t has a
fancy little trailing curlicue (sorry, I don't know the proper typographical
name for it). LibreOffice does not do that, which I believe to be another bug
in the rendering of this font.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Format text as Hoefler Text regular, upright text, not italic or bold.

Current behavior:
Some unrelated sans-serif font is rendered.

Expected behavior:
The correct elegant serif font should be rendered.

Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.0.0.3 release

--- Comment #3 from Keith M. kmyl...@tiscali.co.uk ---
I have reset the user profile according to the instructions (and confirmed that
a new folder has now been created). The problem remains un-changed. Perhaps
this is not surprising, because it is a brand-new installation (my first ever
installation of LO, although I have used OpenOffice previously, and normally
use MS office, all on this machine).
Since it seems a very obvious and fundamental bug, I would guess that it is
most likely new, or surely there would have been many previous reports. Does
LO depend on any other features whose versions need to be checked? Thank you
for looking into this. KM.

Original file

Saving the attached .odt as .doc mangles the table layout.

Problem is reproducible in latest build from git (Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+
64d667ac29a258af5b847fc622070e585b077e11) and 4.0.4.2

(64-bit).

In version 4.0.2.2 everything was fine.

How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached .odt file.
2. Save it as .doc.
3. Close it and open the saved .doc file.
4. The table is completely mangled.

I'm not sure what's so difficult about this bug. LibreCalc just needs to
implement the Insert cut cells context menu option from Excel.

Here's a screencast of a real life problem:
 http://screencast.com/t/S5jtL4bz

(by the way, a screencast is worth a thousand words)

the screencast is very useful to understand what the enhancement request is
about.
I agree that doing the same thing in Excel is much easier.

after saying that, I agree with Joel, if you have coding skills try doing it
yourself... if you don't have, make a donation to LibO or hire a developer...

it worked for me..

Alex: perhaps it'll be useless but could you try to launch LO from console to

BTW, do you build from sources or do you still have some problems about

The interest would be to enable debug mode since

That is, when printing to a colour printer from Libreoffice on a system running

Regarding the suggestion of a duplicate search in comment 50, I've done a few
quick searches of the bug tracker. Searching for transparency gives around
64 matches, most of which seem to be related to gradients in some way. The
closest I've seen to the symptoms discussed here are bug 33591, bug 36766 (a
meta bug summarising a number of transparency-related issues mostly related to
presentation mode), bug 54924 and bug 55698. However, after reading the detail
from these I'm not convinced that any could be classified as duplicates of this
one. To my inexperienced eyes, while they may be conceptually similar (in that
transparency is in some way related) the symptoms really are not a good match
for the ones being dealt with here.

Impress File that crashes after pressing arrow down key

I've observed this behavior in LO 3.6.6.2 under Windows 7.

* Save the attached Impress file.
* Open the file by double-clicking on it.
* Watch how LO starts and opens the document, do nothing at all.
* Press the arrow down key
* Crash! (LO terminates and offers to restore the file on next startup)

This behavior is really nasty, because my natural behavior after opening a
presentation is to scroll down in it, using the arrow keys.

I am pretty sure this behavior was not yet present in slightly older versions
vo LO 3.6.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66363] New: FORMATTING: multipe first page header gets lost when saving in DOC and DOCX format

Summary: FORMATTING: multipe first page header gets lost when
saving in DOC and DOCX format
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bugquestcon...@online.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

In a Writer file it is possible to have different headers for the first page
and all following pages.

The first page header is replace with the header of the following pages when
the Writer file is saved in doc- or docx-format and re-opened

This happens when the first line header is created by unchecking Same content
on first page (If I am not wrong this functionality exists only since 4.0.)

However it is still possible to define in Page Styles a first page and default
page. When doing it this way, the different headers remain.

Steps to reproduce:

1 - right click Default Style in the Page Styles in the Styles and Formatting
window
2 - modify Default Style
3 - enable header
4 - uncheck same content on first page
5 - apply page style
6 - enter several lines in first page header
7 - enter a single line in the header of one of the next pages
8 - save in doc/docx-format
9 - open = first page header is replace by the following header

Current behavior:

When using unchecking Same content on first page and save in doc/docx format
the first page header is replaced by the header of following pages

But when defining a frist page page style no loss occurs

Expected behavior:
When using unchecking Same content on first page and save in doc/docx format
the first page header and the header of the following pages remain different.

--- Comment #8 from Seved Torstendahl sev...@gmail.com ---
I'm aware of that it is almost impossible to understand what happened. My
theory is that the cross reference between tables caused the problem initially.
When we saved the spreadsheet in ods format the data leakage stopped, but the
tables were already destroyed.

This problem caused frustration and a lot of work to recreate the damaged
tables. But we have continued to use Libre Office and upgraded to new releases
as they have appeared, currently version 4.0.2 (I have installed 4.0.3) and I
like it. I have also got some grandchildren to use Libre Office for their
homework!

I don' think it is worthwhile to continue investigating this, so I suggest that
you close the bug now.

This only happens if the MIME type of the downloaded file is set correctly

IE shows two dialogs before trying to open the file: first is to choose what to

Update
Originally I filed bug Version 4.0.4.2 (Build ID:

This bug appeared when I installed 4.0.4.2 while 3.6.6.2 was installed.

I then removed 3.6 but kept the user profile files under 3 and installed
4.0.4.2.

Now the font are displayed correct but for Chinese fonts the number of Chinese
Character is only 1, For Korean there are 2, and for Japanese only hiragana and
katakana characters are shown. The kanji characters (more important, looking
like Chinese characters) are not shown.

Additional observation:

In Writer the basic font for Japanese is MS Mincho. This font name is shown
when I open a new Writer file also Default language is English.

This font is shown only as long as there is no change in Japanese fonts because
thereafter the MS Mincho is not displayed in the font window when it is rolled
down..

if the bugs 55085, 57704, 65506 match this, I dont no.

with the Brother Label Printer QL-580N landscape printing failed, the output is
in portrait Mode.

I use the original template from brother, see attachment.

in the printing dialog the view was correct, but the output comes in portrait.
portrait mode worked correct.

With the old version 3.2 from OpenOffice on the same maschine it worked
correct, sorry.

I must add that when this bug happens, it cannot be undone, thus making it even
more difficult to work. One have to either close without saving, thus loosing
work since last save, or manually restore all the broken formulas.

impossible to track it down.

Thanks for understanding - indeed going to close this one as INVALID just
because not enough info to do much about it. Hopefully this never happens to

This bug was tested LibreOffice v4.1 RC1 running in windows 7 and XP. It
appears that LibreOffice loses formatting when importing MS .docx files. I have
attached an example.

Steps to reproduce the bug:
1. Open attached Demo-Hayden-Management.docx document in writer
2. Open attached Demo-Hayden-Management.docx document in Word2007/Office 365
3. Compare the documents.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62196] EDITING: copy-paste from non-LibO-text-source pastes previous clipboard contents

2013-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62196

--- Comment #8 from Mundi King kingmu...@hotmail.com ---
Problem description:
I am using Windows Vista with current updates (2013-06-29). I am experiencing
copy/paste problems with Libreoffice Writer 4.0.4.2

After doing several copy/paste work between Adobe indesign CS2, notepad++, and
Libreoffice Writer, it seems that Libreoffice Writer stops accepting copies
from non Libreoffice applications. Writer will paste something that was
copied from Writer previously, instead of using what was just copied from
another application.

It seems to happen frequently, but not always.

Completely shutting down Libreoffice applications and then open Libreoffice
Writer seems to fix the issue temporarily.

2013-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66375

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 66375
  Keywords: regression
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: EDITING: Inserts a line
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: robertn...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Example .doc with problematic hyperlink issue

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Type Text
2. Highlight text with cursor and select the Hyperlink icon from toolbar (or
InsertHyperlink).
3. Enter web address into Target field click Apply, then Close.
4. Click Enter and type in text (on the new line).
5. Select FileSave As, select Microsoft Word 97/200/XP/2003 (.doc)(*.doc) and
click Save.
6. Close document.
7. Double-click on document to open.
8. Anywhere a hyperlink has been added (without subsequent text on the same
line) will now have an inserted blank line between the link and the text below.

Note: Using same steps, except using .odt or .docx file format (step 5) does
not seem to yield this issue.

Current behavior:
-When saving a document as a .doc that includes hyperlinks followed by no text
on that line, a blank line is inserted below when reopened (after saving, or
course).
Expected behavior:
-Closing and reopening a .doc does not add line spaces after hyperlinks.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.4.2 release
Last worked in: 4.0.3.3 release
