[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66242] FILESAVE - Cell with formula lost formatting on save to xls

Every cell has now an hard number format after import > > and the code for my ugly hack has been removed. > > This is something different. The number format says to "format with decimal > and group separator of the current locale", so the actual display string > should change when loaded in a locale that uses different separators. It > sounds as if that will not be covered by the changes, or am I wrong? Why should that not be fixed with my code? We now don't import the cached string anymore, we always use a number format and the cached value!! to calculate the string. In the old code we used the cached string to workaround the missing inherited number formats but all of this code should be gone in master and 4.1.0.2. I also have a fix for this bug here which is a regression. I accidentally removed the code that fetched the number format for formula cells. If I'm not totally off in the current design there is no difference between a document that has been recalculated after import and a document where we use the cached value during import. In both cases we take the value of the result (either calculated or cached) and use the stored(either from import or in case of inherited number format from the first calculation) number format from ATTR_VALUE_FORMAT to create the formatted string. The only difference to the old 3.6 behavior is that for inherited number format we set the implicit number format as explicit number format after calculation. Please correct me if I made a really stupid mistake. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64664] PDF: Rotated text corrupted when flattening transparent objects for PDF/A
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64664 --- Comment #4 from Jim Avera --- PDF/A is a variant of PDF designed for long-term archiving. Unlike regular PDFs, PDF/A does not depend on external data to be rendered. For example, it does not depend on certain fonts being pre-installed in your rendering mechanism (printer or software print driver). A key requirement for archival documents is that they can be rendered in the future without relying on specific printers or software companies continuing to exist. So "re-export as regular PDF" is not a solution for people creating documents to be archived for a long time. I think there is no valid work-around. It's not a terrible limitation to not support PDF/A (when certain embedded images are present), but it is a non-minor bug IMO. This feature saves so much time and is essential to anybody that handles data in spreadsheets. It is a systematic way to get statistical information about data in a very organized and speedy fashion. In Microsoft Excel it features the following automated techniques: - Anova (single factor, two factor with/without replication) - Correlation - Covariance - Descriptive Statistics - Exponential Smoothing - F-Test - Fourier Analysis (Very powerful and I think essential) - Histogram - Moving Average - Random Number Generation (For comparing with data to establish meaningfulness) - Rank and Percentile - Regression - Sampling - t-Test (all variations) - z-Test These all can be applied directly to sets of data and are straightforward to use. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66472] New: Better ergonomics for column, row, and cell actions in Calc
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66472 Priority: medium Bug ID: 66472 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Better ergonomics for column, row, and cell actions in Calc Severity: enhancement Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: laurent.lyau...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: unspecified Component: Spreadsheet Product: LibreOffice Hi, The ergonomics of Calc could be made more efficient (need less click, movements from the user to do the same action). When you want to apply an action to all columns, all rows, or all cells, you have to do the following : click the X zone X|B|C - 1| - 2| then right click on columns headers for column actions, right click on row "headers" for row actions, right click on cells for cells actions. Then you must add the number of clicks for each action. I'll take an example : Suppose you want to unhide all hidden columns and all hidden rows. You have to click 5 times - X zone - right click column, click unhide - right click row, click unhide I propose the X zone to be replaced by the following visual element, split the X zone in 3 parts like this __ | /| |/\| and make all three zones clickable and right clickable: - right part selects all columns and make it possible to apply actions (from contextual menu or other actions) to all columns - lower part selects all rows and make it possible to apply actions (from contextual menu or other actions) to all rows - upper left part selects all columns, rows, cell and make it possible to apply actions (from contextual menu or other actions) to all columns and/or all rows or all cells I would like to name this element of ergonomics a triforce as a tribute to Zelda :D (ok it doesn't exactly looks like a triforce but... Imagine saying to someone "click the triforce on your spreadsheet !" It's much better than clicking "upperleft corner") Hence, we could say right triforce, down triforce and triforce for right part, lower part, and upper left part respectively. While the contextual menu when right clicking right triforce or down triforce is the same as right clicking columns or rows (after clicking X zone), the contextual menu for the triforce is new. It must be split in two parts : - actions that can apply to both rows and columns - actions that apply to cells Back to the example, now you just need 2 clicks instead of 5 (right click triforce, click unhide) The number of mouse movements required would similarly be decreased. Note that there is no UI regression. Any user can still work the old way by left clicking the triforce then right clicking rows, columns or cells. We can rename the triforce or ask Nintendo permission to use this name in official documentation, it would just be the cheery on the cake. But what is truly important is the ergonomics. I hope I clearly presented my idea. Whilst the Libre Office Drawing fulfills the basic needs for creating simple drawings and sketches, it fails to have a drawing scale feature. The same is true of Libre CAD. The very first time I tried to draw a small detail I was frustrated because my object was only 2 x 3 inches in section and 4 inches long. In order to have a reasonable size representation I had to mentally create a 2:1 scale as I went along. There needs to be a drawing scale feature at the file level to provide this very basic need. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66469] New: FILESAVE: Most recent change in presentation not saved when using animations
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66469 Priority: medium Bug ID: 66469 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: FILESAVE: Most recent change in presentation not saved when using animations Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux (All) Reporter: christ...@hoffie.info Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.0.4.2 release Component: Presentation Product: LibreOffice Problem description: LibreOffice Impress discards changes to documents without notice in certain circumstances. It happens when the object in question is part of a custom animation and if no other content is modified before saving. This is actually really annoying as it may lead to whole paragraphs of text getting lost or to other corrections not being saved (and as such, errors or typos getting re-introduced without noticing). Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an empty presentation 2. Add some text such as "Test0" 3. Select the entered text (or the parent text box) and add a custom animation (doesn't matter which, but let's say "Appear") 4. Save and close the document 5. Open it again and modify the text (Make "Test0" read "Text1") 6. Without editing anything else, click save (or press Ctrl+S) and close the presentation 7. Re-open again and notice that the last change did not get saved (the page still reads "Test0") Current behavior: The most recent change done to any animated item is not saved, unless something else is modified afterwards. Above test case shows "Test0". Expected behavior: Everything which is visible on-screen should be saved to the file and should look the same after re-opening the file. Above test cases should yield "Test1". Further information: - The list of custom animations does not update properly either (i.e. when "Test0" is changed to "Test1", the animation list still says "Test0" unless something else is edited or focus is switched to another slide). - While I am not familiar with the LibreOffice code, it looks like some event is not fired in this case which would usually be responsible for updating internal state at several places (internal ODF representation, custom animation list pane). - Removing the custom animation and repeating the test (changing content, saving, reloading) will still show the bug! The bug only vanishes if the document is re-opened after the custom animation has been removed. Environment: - This was first noticed on Kubuntu 13.04 with the bundled libreoffice-4.0.2.2 - also reproduced on: Ubuntu 13.04, bundled libreoffice-4.0.2.2, different machine - also reproduced on: Ubuntu 13.04, libreoffice.org's 4.0.4.2 packages (LibreOffice_4.0.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb) - also reproduced on: Ubuntu 13.04, libreoffice.org's 4.1.0.1 packages (LibreOffice_4.1.0.1_Linux_x86-64_deb) (all tests on x86_64) Please let me know if I can supply you with any more debugging information. I need to switch seven times between Libre Office and seven times to press CTRL + SHIFT + V, select Unformatted text and press Enter...
