LibreOffice -view but don't printing cell borders xls and xlsx

LibreOffice view cell borders but don't printing from file save as xls and
xlsx.

Open attachment in LO, now view cell border is all right, but when you choose
from menu page preview or printing file you don't see cell borders.

This file open in AOO work correct. All cell borders are viewing and printing.

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bugzi...@wheb.org

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Word DOC that does not display correctly in LibreOffice.

The attached Word DOC, which appears to be in XP-2003 format, does not display
correctly in LibreOffice (or OpenOffice). In MS Word, the document has a total
of 21 pages. In LibreOffice, only the first 2 pages show up. This was also a
problem that occurred in OpenOffice 3.3. Trying to resolve the issue is what
prompted the switch to LibreOffice. The document is essentially one giant
table, which I gather may be the source of the issue.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.4.2 release

 @Toni Ballesta
so, do you still experience slowness loading LibO on your machines?

Not bad. Now, I don't use the fast icon, and it loads on 3 seconds, more or
less, with LO 4.0.3.3 on Gentoo x64 and HDD conventional. Then, when I close it
and re-open, it is late half second.

--- Comment #5 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
As mentioned at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64741#c8 the
Mozilla and Thunderbird drivers were reworked in 4.0 and the new implementation
had some problems.

The other bug also suggested that the rework was done by David Ostrovsky =
adding him to CC.

BTW: I searched /opt/libreoffice4.1/share/registry for the string Icedove. It
is mentioned in 4.1 only in the res/registry_main.xcd and nowhere else.
Note that it was mentioned also in main.xcd in LO 4.0. I wonder if this might
be the reason for this bug. I wonder if it might be related to gbuildisation or
so.

Anyway, if I understand the bug #64741 correctly, the driver did not work in
4.0 = it does not matter if we show it or not in the menu = of course, we
need to make it working again but it should not suddenly start blocking the
4.1.0 release = lowering severity a bit.

solve this in the bugfix releases = it should not block the release.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66924] Editing master-pages is broken

2013-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66924

--- Comment #4 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
I did some more testing and here is my observation:

+ I am able to edit the first master slide in any presentation

+ I am NOT able to edit the other master slides if I choose them using
the left hand
slide sorter. If I click anywhere in the other master slide it jumps
back to
the previously edited slide; it means:

+ it jumps back to the first master slide if you did some
editing before

+ it even leaves the master view and jumps back to the normal
view if you did not
  not do anything else before (did not edit 1st master slide;
did not edit other slides in
  the normal view

A workaround seems to be to click on the first master slide in the
central edit window and
navigate to the other master slide using the [Pgdn] button. Then I am
able to edit them.

+ I have troubles to leave the master view. If I edit a master slide,
leave the master view
and try to edit the real slide, it jumps back to the master view.

A workaround is to close the mast view once again; then it stays in
the normal view.

+ IMPORTANT: I see these problems only with more master slides. I do not
see them
in presentations with only single master slide

Hi all, setting platform to ALL. Since not LO related setting Version to
UNSPECIFIED.

I have to say I disagree with the tooltip enhancement request for the up/down
voting arrows. Imo those are very obvious as similar to all forums across the
web. Up/down for voting isn't a new concept and I believe most users are
familiar with that. Please don't clutter the askLO page with tooltips (e.g.
similar to BSA which had a tooltip in the component selection view - cluttering
the whole view and being very annoying). I see the danger of instead of
presenting a clean self-explanatory UI overwhelming the user with info
(displayed out of good intention) but resulting in a much too busy overall UI.

Voting is explained here: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/help/
I've just added a voting explanation to the wiki as well:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Ask/Getting_Started

bugquestcontri: Editing the wiki is rather straight forward. May I suggest to
sign up with a new account? You can then add more info to the getting started
page describing the askLO page. If you need any help you can always jump on the
QA IRC chan (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/IRC) :)

Yes, can still reproduce:

With macro security to medium, and foo.odb file has Basic macros.

1) Start in workspace 1

2) Give LibreOffice window focus

3) File / Recent / foo.odb

4) Immediately switch to workspace 2,
   *before* the Security Warning appears.
Since I have a keyboard shortcut for that,
I can easily hit the race window.

5) Do not give focus to anybody else.

6) The Security Warning appears in Workspace 2
   and gets focus.

7) Switch back to Workspace 1 (I again use the keyboard
shortcut for that). This gives focus back
to the LibreOffice window. This automatically
switches back to Workspace 2 and focus to security warning.

8) Goto 7).

(I can break out of the loop by giving focus to *another* window
in Workspace 1, by clicking directly on that window in the XFCE
workspace switcher. But as soon as my mouse hovers over the
LibreOffice window, it sends me back to Workspace 2.)

my default language in LO) and I can set that paragraph to english if I want.

The second part is detected as Hindi. So behavior is different than described
in bug description.

Nathan Wells: Would you mind testing the latest LO release
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ and see if that behaves
better? Maybe you can update the steps to reproduce if the behavior has
changed.

Interesting behavior. Testing on LO 4.1.0.2.0 and OS X 10.8.4 LO displays 19
pages whilst MS Word displays 21 pages. All content is there so nothing get's
lost but the formatting is displayed differently.

This document imo has some strange formatting. It takes a while in both
programs to load completely although it is only a table with some text. So
this document might have some very odd formatting.

When comparing the opened documents already on the first page I notice that
Word displays #15 as the last number and LO goes to #16. That explains why the
doc only has 19 pages when opened in LO.

Setting to NEW. OS to ALL.

I see, it is related to

Well, the release notes mention that it is not meant as a separate module, so
you probably expect too much.

I am able to open the attached ,odc file also with LO 3.4 and it shows the same
window without menu as LO 4.1 = it is pretty old functionality.

Hmm, I am not able to find how to switch to the chart edit mode as mentioned
in the release notes. So, I can't check the other ways how to open this window.

I agree that looks a bit strange and it might need some UI improvements. On the
other hand, I do not see anything that critical. So, I reduce the severity
again.

Markus, could you please sort it somehow?

2013-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45381

--- Comment #3 from Nathan Wells sungk...@gmail.com ---
Ah, sorry. Yes, you have to change your CTL language to Khmer in order for the
text to be marked as Khmer.

Tools-Options-Language Settings-Languages
CTL: Khmer

And for me, it shows up as Khmer for ហើយគ្លានេះជាភាសាខ្មែរ។
but the «» show up as English.

Also, to update my original request - really any punctuation around Khmer text
should be viewed as Khmer, including ? - [ { } () , . : etc.

so តើអ្នកចង់ទៅផ្សារទេ?
should all be marked as Khmer.

Let me know if anything else needs clarification. It would be great to see this
fixed!

The thumbnails are there for the user convenience. IMHO, it is only small part
of the disk space and energy that is spent in this are these days. I mean all
the windowmanager effects, complex graphics, and design. I am afraid that the
world goes this ways.

Regarding the disk space. It would be great if you could provide some static.
It wonder how big part the thumbnail takes in normal documents in average.

Regarding the cpu usage, it is questionable. In fact, the bundled thumbnail is
an optimization here. It is produced only once, from already preprocessed data
and then used on many systems. If it is not there and user want the thumbnails,
the windowmanager would need to run LO on all systems working with the file, do
the rendering and producing the thumbnail for the system cache. Again, it would
be interesting to see some statistic numbers here.

Jérôme, could you please provide some statistic that would support your idea?

Understood...

I am getting what i see after selecting page break view-
https://app.box.com/s/0ldewlhr16p2x2t0uqr5

There is one more thing i did, I changed the page1 view container which
includes all columns in the xls file. like -
https://app.box.com/s/0ldewlhr16p2x2t0uqr5

Also playing with preview settings i can see all the columns in one page.

Can I do the same using the libreoffice command?

If yes can you please share the documentation for the same please?

I feel like notourbug might be best. It still feels like a bug and if someone
who doesn't know about this issue experiences it, it will probably feel like
something is wrong when they experience the delay associated with trying to
mount a server. If the server isn't available, the delay will be pretty long
and they will receive an error message.

I'm having exactly the same problem using BauhausHvBt font LO 4.0.4.2 (and/or
any previous version) on W7. It doesn't matter which printer or driver I use
(tried on different HP and Canon models), but I've found a workaround for this
problem: if I use 'Export Directly as PDF' then the resulting PDF file doesn't
have this problem and I can print the document correctly. Of course, fixing
this bug would be apriciated, I'm piling PDF files on my hard drive ;)

OK ... in comment #2 you write I've made use of this feature in many

 So I don't understand that :)

Would it be OK to make an enhancement request from this, e.g. make it
possible to add the name of a *single* data range as text in the field

Yes, this could be considered an enhancement request. I'm not sure how to set

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

Created attachment 82549

Sample document with TOC that fails to export to PDF correctly.

Problem description:
When using command prompt:
soffice.exe --nofirststartwizard --invisible --convert-to pdf --outdir %1 %2
the attached file is exported to PDF without the table of content (TOC).
Instead there is a blank space where the TOC should appear.
Doing the same operation using GUI with the same document produces a PDF with
the correct TOC.
I confirmed this on several windows OS versions with same consistent result.
The file was created with MS Office 2013, docx file.

Note: I am using LibreOffice Portable version, but had a friend confirm the
same with the full version.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached file using writer, convert to PDF - success. PDF has TOC.
2. Close writer, and all instances of LibreOffice
3. Open command prompt, run the command above (replace %1 with the output
location of your choice and %2 with the attached file location)
4. Failure: the PDF is produced but missing the TOC.

Current behavior:
Export to PDF via command prompt does not export TOC, while doing the same via
GUI works as expected.

Expected behavior:
Export via command prompt should work the same way as export via GUI, both
should include the TOC in the result PDF.

I noticed similar issue when converting MS word to PDF using command prompt -
it doesn't work well, but when using GUI it works well.

Seems that there is an underlying issue with command prompt export to PDF that
does not use the same code or context as the GUI.

Is it possible at all to merge the 2 conversions to work in the same way?

See my issue #67005

Thanks!

When doing the same using UI it produces a clean PDF.

The sample file is attached to that issue, for those who do not have MS office

Problem defined more clearly:
If you try to print multiple files in Win8, only two of them will print. In
Win7, multiple file printing works.

To reproduce:
Stick the attached files in a folder. Drag them to the printer. Only 2 of the 5
print with Win8. With Win7, all print.

If you rename the files to have the same length of file name, eg 1 Abcd.odt, 2
Abcd.odt, etc, they all print.

--- Comment #4 from Jérôme jerome.bo...@wanadoo.fr ---
The storage cost depends on the usage :

- the local desktop disk is often a cheap storage with possibly no backup (in
enterprise for example),

- the storage of a user or a group is an expensive storage (the final archived
size can be multiplied by ~20 with archives rotation, humans are paid to
perform the storage and check it, a long term storage use expensive technology
or it requires frequent backup refresh of older backups, ...).

I think that preview should be stored only on cheap storage. However a document
file is usually stored on an expensive storage.

Note that a document sent by email will use the network bandwidth for image
preview which can be easily created by the recipient. Moreover, the document
will be copied into the inbox folder of the recipient and also into the
sent folder of the sender. The mailboxes of the sender and the recipient will
be possibly backed up (expensive storage) and they will possibly reach their
size quota.

Note that there are users who never use preview image (detailed view of the
Microsoft Windows file explorer for example).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67007] New: UI: Name Box does not show a name in sheet scope when selecting a range

2013-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67007

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67007
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: Name Box does not show a name in sheet scope when
selecting a range
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: marius.s...@web.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.6.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new spreadsheet document with at least one sheet.
2. Open the Manage Names dialog
3. Assign a name to a range (or a single cell, which does not matter) and set
the scope of the name to any sheet (but not to Document (Global))
4. Select the above assigned range in the corresponding sheet

Current behavior:
The name box displays the selected range (e. g. A1 or A1:C6)

Expected behavior:
The name box should display the assigned name (e. g. myField or myMatrix)
This currently only works for names in the global scope. MS Excel 2007 shows
the name in the local scope.
Operating System: Linux (Other)
Version: 3.6.6.2 release

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67008] New: FILEOPEN, FILESAVE: XLSX border size gets changed to 4pt

2013-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67008

4pt
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: chrismd...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

When I open an XLSX file the borders are much thicker than they should be.
Looking at the cell formatting the border width has been set to 4.0pt, if I go
through and reset them all back to something normal like 1.0pt, save, close and
reopen they revert straight back to 4.0pt.

This is almost forcing me to give up on LibreOffice as a lot of work
spreadsheets are sent in xlsx format and I'm unable to edit them and send back
without ruining the formatting.

Expected behavior:
soffice.bin should raise a warning describing the issue (missing or
inaccessible file) and exit with an error status.
