[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67699] New: FILEOPEN: html table as XLS gives read output error

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 67699
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: html table as XLS gives read output error
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: sku...@gmx.ch
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 83566
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83566&action=edit
html file with a table with xls extension

I used version 3.5.7 on my mac (and Ubuntu 12.04) and i could open the attached
XLS file just fine. Its an html file with a table inside which has the
extension xls. This versions shows a regular table inside Calc.

After an update on version 4.1.0, i get an "general read output error" when
trying to open the same.

Sure, this is not a valid xls file, but still this looks like a bug/regression
to me.
LibreOffice should at least handle the file like an html file if it doesnt want
to make the convert step anymore.

I don't have a Mac to test, but as far as I see, there's just a small position
shift between the scrollbar and the effective drag area... does it really
impairs user experience?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66215] EDITING: unable to select a text to change its properties (bold, italic ...) when picture defined as background

I have tested the provided document under these setups:

- Crunchbang 11 TDF/LO v3.5.7.2
- Ubuntu 10.04 TDF/LO v3.6.0.4
- Ubuntu 10.04 TDF/LO v3.6.6.2
- Ubuntu 10.04 TDF/LO v4.0.3.3
- Crunchbang 11 TDF/LO v4.1.0.4

This appears to be a regression. Version v3.6.0.4 and prior work as expected,
while versions 3.6.6.2 and later do not i.e., the graphic inhibits selection
and general manipulation of the foreground text. The instructions in this AskLO
thread indicate that the function has worked previously:

http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/4683/full-a4-background-image-in-writer/

...however a recent answer in that thread also indicates that it has now
stopped working.

Hi Joe,

> I don't understand how a feature ... is not given the priority of features
> like importing graphical bullets from word docs and having gradient frame
> backgrounds...

There is no global feature prioritization in LibreOffice - that is left to the
wisdom of the crowds of people contributing to the code-base, either volunteers
or companies. In the case of the two features you mentioned, I believe paying
customers of contributing companies reported interop. bugs against this - and
as such they had their bugs fixed :-)

There are plenty of people eager to be paid to implement features for those
willing to incentivise them; failing that - jump in and hack on the code
yourself if you want to effect positive change: there is enough mentoring
support to help you make that a success - would be great to have you
contributing in that way.

Michael.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67701] New: FORMATTING: Mirrored format incorrect if first page is on the left with certain header/footer settings

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67701

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67701
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Mirrored format incorrect if first page is
on the left with certain header/footer settings
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: librebug...@zippymail.info
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 83569
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83569&action=edit
Screen shot of document in preview mode demonstrating the margin bug

Problem description: With certain header and footer settings, the mirrored
margins may not be correct on the first page of a custom page style when the
first page in the new style is on the left (i.e., an even-numbered page);
instead the page may have margins correct for a right-hand page.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Define a page style using a mirrored layout with a large inner margin and
visibly smaller outer margin
2. Define headers for the custom style with the header options of header on,
not same content left/right, not same content on first page
3. Define footers for the custom style with the footer options of footer on,
same content left/right, same content on first page
4. On the first page of the document (which would be the right-hand page), open
the Insert Break dialog (e.g., Insert, Manual Break)
5. Ensure the Type is Page break
6. Ensure the Style is the style defined in #1 above
7. Click OK
8. On the new page, type or paste text content if necessary to help see the
margins

Current behavior: The first page of the new page style will be a left page but
the margins will be for a right page.

Expected behavior: The first page of the new page style with mirrored layout
should be correct whether it is on the left or right. Header and footer
settings should not affect inner/outer margins.

Note that the style on the back of a page may be different from the style on
the front of the page, so it is not valid to assume that the first page of a
style is a right (odd-numbered) page.

Note also that if header and footer options are set differently, this bug may
not appear.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67702] New: Can't print from LO and only LO

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67702

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67702
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Can't print from LO and only LO
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: charlie.ch...@ntlworld.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

Recently I bought a new printer, a Canon Pixma iP7250 which connects
via wi-fi. I installed it using the supplied Canon drivers for Linux
and I can print wirelessly without problem from every single program in
Ubuntu 13.04 except Libre Office. When I try to print a document (either
existing or new, either a .odt or a .doc) the printer icon shows for
about 10 seconds and then disappears. Opening the print queue manually, where
it claims to have printed successfully and re-starting the last job, it
initially says 'printing' and then says 'printer not connected'. If I save the
document as a pdf, it prints fine from pdf viewer, but this can only be a
temporary workaround. I also have the same version of Libre Office on an old
Windoze machine running XP and I can print from that without any problem, so
this must
be an Ubuntu / LO issue. I am running 13.04.

It doesn't print from any LO module, Writer, Calc, etc.

tested with LibO 3.5.7, 3.6.7, 4.0.4 and 4.1.0 final releases on Win7 64bit.

all versions can load the original .xlsx file and save it as .ods with no
corruption.

all versions but 3.5.7 have troubles visualizing the .ods file saved with
Excel.

so it's a regression in the 3.6.x branch.

moving from 3.6mab to 4.0mab since 3.6.x is EOL and issue still affects 4.0.x

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57378] FILEOPEN / DOCX FILTER: cropped image in docx file is displayed incorrectly in writer

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57378

--- Comment #21 from Stephan van den Akker ---
Hi Cor,

The summary of this bug is correct. The images are displayed incorrectly,
"squashed" exactly like in the OP.

I think there are two different causes:

** Cause 1: The cropping information for bitmaps was not imported correctly.

The images in attachment 70601 appear as bitmaps in LO (Right-click menu has
the "Picture" item). In OOo and older versions of LO these bitmaps are not
cropped but scaled to fit the allotted space.

Cause 1 seems to be solved in newer versions of LO (see comment 16).

** Cause 2: Some bitmaps are not recognised as bitmaps.

As LO doesn't crop not-bitmap images, the cropping information from the Word
document is not imported at all. These images are not cropped but scaled in all
versions of LO I tried, including MASTER (4.2.0 pre-alpha).

My guess is that the import filters are somehow thrown off by some empty vector
or text element associated with the bitmap inside the doc.

Thanks for reporting.

But is it possible to list what's wrong with this presentation? Except _maybe_
some small overlapping, I don't see big errors at the first look?
Such kind of bugs are easier to interpret what's wrong by adding comparison
screenshots 'LibreOffice vs "how it should look"'

I am glad you also found the bug in the next version to be released. The
shredded and color lines I haven't seen yet.I may case it was always black.
BTW, when you look at my screen shots which I posted Nov 2012 the also have the
DRAFT background.
It seems the bug is there since quite a while may be even flown over from OO.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting!

I'm using the sidebar for quite a time too, and can not confirm these crashes
on Windows 8, Mac OSX 10.8.4 and Linux Mint 15 x64. So it might be interesting
to have a backtrace. Although you don't have a special build to do backtraces,
it'll reveal hopefully some helpful information what goes wrong. Please see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace

After doing that, please attach the backtrace log to the bug report.

Thanks for your time to make LibreOffice a better product!

Still reproducible, not fixed. Sadly there are some serious and hard to
find/fix field-focussing issues on Mac OSX. Moving this from 3.6 to 4.0

Mmh, strange. I can reproduce the behavior when I open your attached ODG. From

save it, reopen it -> correct font.

Can you reproduce this problem every time, also from scratch?

We have some sort of design for the picker, but no developer is working on it,
so it won't be implemented anytime soon. (The hope was that it would be picked
up for GSoC, but it wasn't.)

I agree that a 12-column layout would be an improvement, so let's do that for

I also spent some time on it but hardly understood the root of the problem.
Apple had changed the protocol for DND in 10.7 but the one used in dtrans still
works.

This document is not a .DOC file; rather, it is an .RTF renamed to .DOC (or
maybe some program generates RTFs and names them incorrectly, this is quite
common in CIS countries).
If you rename it back, it opens OK.

I considered if this bug should be closed as NOTABUG, or transformed to
enhancement request to improve logic that selects import filter, but 3.3.0.4 -
4.0.4.3 all open the file normally, so it should be considered a regression.
Thus, confirm it as NEW and set keyword REGRESSION.

You should use English when submitting an issue to Bugzilla. Most developers
here don't read Russian, so your report is unreadable, and indicates that you
ignored the rules of the service that you use. It is impolite at best.

If you need an advice from fellow users, and not attention of developers, then
you should post your message to a Russian users community.

Otherwise, please rename the issue to English, and post your description
translated, too.

Also, please provide step-by-step instructions to reproduce the problem, the
expected result and the actual result. This will enable people to reproduce the
bug.

Please don't regard this as "бестолковое словоблудие", this is meant to allow
this report to reach correct people.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67712] New: FORMCONTROLS: anchor from "Cell" to "Page" when reopening

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67712

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67712
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMCONTROLS: anchor from "Cell" to "Page" when
reopening
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: feisa.recur...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

If I anchor a form control (e.g. push button)to "Cell", after closing and then
reopening the document, the form control anchor changes to "Page". As a result
the form control changes its position.

Also, the form control can become smaller each time the document is closed &
reopened.

I think this bug has occurred in an earlier version of LibreOffice (Bug 45076)
but was reportedly fixed. I am definitely using version 4.1.04.

Still reproducible using LibreOffice 4.1.0.4, not using LibreOffice Version:
4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 2f6cbe13e61c44d4bab8192a4708b698d3d9da33
TinderBox: Win-x86@6-debug, Branch:master, Time: 2013-07-25_00:00:21
So, looks fixed to me. When clicking on a non-existing file in the list, only 1
time the dialog appears. After clicking OK, nothing more appears/no circus
anymore.

Kind regards,
Joren

Cannot reproduce using LO 4.1.0.4 under Windows 7 x64.

I create a new spreadsheet, insert a pushbutton, anchor it to cell, notice its
width and height. After saving and reopening, everything stays correct.

Could you provide more details, or a test case?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34449] request new feature: ability deleting borders of cell from adjacent cell

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34449

(In reply to comment #10)
> I can confirm this, not sure how we would solve it

Hello! I found out what cause this problem (and some more), and what is the
solution. Right now, you can set 2 border lines between adjacent cells, because
every cell has its 4 own borders. These 2 border lines are placed on the same
spot, on each other, so you cannot tell if that line is A2's bottom border or
A3's top border or both. And if you set 2 border lines between adjacent cells,
and one of them is thicker, then the thinner will not displayed, because these
lines are placed on each other. And if you set a red and a black line, and
these lines has the same width, you cannot really tell which one will
displayed. You can found some different bugreports that caused by the wrong
implementation to handle cell borders.
These bugs can be solved by another implementation: adjacent cells' border
should be a common attribution. If you set B2's bottom border, then it means
you also set B3's top border. So insted of 4 own border lines, there is 4
common border lines. (Except for example A1, because it has 2 own and 2 common
border lines.) That is how Excel works, and how Calc should works. For more
info and pictures, see my bugreport: Bug 67501 - CONFIGURATION: Wrong
implementation to handle cell borders.
I think this is a high priority bug.
