OK, I understand.
Given that this might affect quite a few collaborating on maths stuff with MS
Word users, it would be good for LO credibility if the fixes were out there
sooner than later.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, that does look much better. Hard to distinguish any change to how it is
rendered in .odt.
Thanks for your attention to this issue, hopefully it won't be too long before
fixes are available in Fedora repo.

Actually, the original poster referred to another problem: he could not use
tabs and newline symbols in autocorrection field, they turn to spaces. This is
not the same as "formatting", thus the initial report mixed these two different
concepts (some kinds of text (tabs and multiline text) are impossible to use in
autocorrect / no formatting support in autocorrect). Another was that on some
system, he was unable to use autocorrection under ordinary user, he had to take
superuser privileges.

There were no mention of real formatting in the original post, thus the name of
the report was simply misleading. And the confirmation of the report written in
Russian doesn't help developers who potentially will take this bug to
comprehend what has been asked.

Problem description:
When trying to print 2-up brochure or side-by-side 5.5x8.5 (Organizer L) pages

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a new text document
2. Change page size to 5.5x8.5
3. Copy enough text into the document to run onto two pages
4. Go to the print dialog
5. Print Preview incorrectly switches paper size to A5

Current behavior:
Have tested in Linux and Windows. Cannot print multi-up correctly onto letter
landscape paper. There have been similar problems in this area since
LibreOffice 3.5 or so, but the correct combination of button clicks has usually
produced a workaround. Could find no workaround this time. (OpenOffice4 which

This is a misunderstanding, I'm using the SEARCH function in each cell of
column F, e.g. in cell F4 as follows:
=WENN(ISTFEHLER(SUCHEN("Gewinn|Promotion|Replay";C4));"";E4)
As you see in the attached screenshot SEARCH finds "Gewinn" in cell C3. In this
cell "Gewinn" is a normal text string.
In cell C4 the string "Gewinn" is the text of a hyperlink and SEARCH doesn't
find it hence the cell F4 is empty.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65439] Export to PDF/A-1a gives transparency warning even when no transparent object is present

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65439

>we should discover if that is an intended warning that must pop up at any print

>as I said, is that warning a bug or an intended alert message that has to be
>showed anyway?

It would seem to be UX overkill to display a message (warning) regardless of
context, but I understand what you mean. If a message does need to be displayed
(due to ISO 19005-1:2005 stipulation for example) then I think at the very
least the wording should be improved to make clear that it is a required /
general warning. The current text can give the impression that there may be a
hidden object somewhere in the document that the user is unaware of.

My personal preference would be for the warning to be contextual i.e., if
transparency is detected then display the message, otherwise avoid displaying
the message.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54924] PRINTING: Export objects with transparency to PDF/A corrupts gradients

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54924

I agree with comment #9 that transparency (and thus gradients) is not supported
by PDF/A-1. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF/A) PDF/A-2
is required:

>Transparent objects and layers (Optional Content Groups) are forbidden
>in PDF/A-1, but they are supported in PDF/A-2.

>The use of transparency is forbidden in PDF/A-1. The majority of PDF
>generation tools that allow for PDF/A document compliance, such as the
>PDF export in OpenOffice.org or PDF export tool in Microsoft Office 2007
>suites, will also make any transparent images in a given document
>non-transparent. That restriction was removed in PDF/A-2.

I do not have a copy of ISO 19005-1:2005 or ISO 19005-2:2011 to completely
confirm this but it would seem indicative.

Mmh, I partially can confirm your behavior.

I totally can confirm this. Also I have to mention, if you have data from
B4:B5000 it'll shift everything to the first row, but it also _DOES NOT_ touch
the last 3 rows of it (if your data is in B10:B5000 it'll skip the last 9
rows).

>

I fail to confirm that.

Although I fail to reproduce the last part, this is definitely a bug. So
marking it as such.

Kind regards,
Joren

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: kgiz...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
When naming a data series in a chart you are left with only two options either
use quotes around the name or it has to be a single word with no formatting.
For a chart where visualizing is the main idea having no formatting options
seem ridiculous, but if you use the quotes to give the data series a formatted
name, it is not saved with the document. The name as well as the formatting is
lost with document closure.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make a chart
2. Include a data series
3. Name the data series "Data Series Name"
4. Save the document
5. Close it
6. Open it again and the name of the data series in the chart is gone.

Current behavior:
You cannot save a data series name in a chart if it is in "Quoted Formatted
Text" format.

Expected behavior:
To be able to save the document and all of its changes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42082] [META] Make LibreOffice shine and glow on OS X

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42082

IMHO,

I agree with Tor's previous statement, this thread should only be for
Mac-specific enhancement requests, but in addition to this -

It would make more sense if we could start a wiki page like Mac specific hacks,
and create a kind of roadmap, and making it convenient for people who would
like to contribute to OS X code. This could be like `replace this API with the
newer this API`, `get rid of this dependency`, or `add this library` kind of
things with necessary code pointers.

And some of the bugs here already require big overhauls in the Mac code as far
as I can see with my limited technical knowledge, instead these, creating Mac
specific hack threads would make more sense I think.

Following this approach would also help to ensure LO uses the latest OS X
technologies, solving bug in bulks, and thus giving a better UX experience.

But in order to achieve this we need developer input to create these threads.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67701] FORMATTING: Mirrored format incorrect if first page is on the left with certain header/footer settings

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67701

--- Comment #3 from librebug...@zippymail.info ---
An imperfect work-around is to use style flow automation to force a left-only
page style before the desired style, to force the first page of the desired
style to begin on the right page.

For example, if the desired style with mirrored layout is ChapterBody, a
left-only style of FixChapter could be created with the Next Style set to
ChapterBody. If there is a separate style, such as ChapterStart, the "fix"
style would have to be inserted accordingly using a Next Style chain, i.e.,
ChapterStart -> FixChapter -> ChapterBody.

This is imperfect because in a long work that is undergoing revisions the left-
or right-start of a section of content may change, so the fix would need to be
manually applied or removed whenever the start changed from left to right or
vice versa.

Actually now I'm thinking that the 2nd best is maybe the best option, because
by handling from one corner you can change the selection in both directions in
the same action. Eg if you want to include more columns AND more rows, you can
do it by handling the size from the corner...

But enough of talking alone here :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67719] New: text to columns puts result into first line if whole column is selected

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67719

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67719
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: text to columns puts result into first line if whole
column is selected
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: aaalmo...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

If you have a column of data that you want to process with "text to columns",
and you select the whole column by clicking the column header, the result will
be created starting on line 1 irregardless of where the original data column
started (e.g. your data is in B4:B5000, and it's split into 3 columns, it will
end up in B1:D4997).

If there is some data in the area it would overwrite with this (e.g. in the
above example you have something else in C1), it asks if it's OK to overwrite
it, but in this case it pastes the result in the correct place (B4:D5000 in the
example, and C1 is not overwritten).

Not that I expected anybody to care for my opinion. So apparently "make it
shine and glow" means simply "fix bugs", and not "make it use more Mac-specific
functionality" (like iCloud, Versions, full-screen etc)?

As such I don't understand then what the difference between this metabug and
the MAB metabug is. Or do we need a separate metabug (this one) for Most

changed SUMMARY to better explain what the bug is about.

changed platform to ALL since it affects Windows as well.

added keyword REGRESSION since it was not present in LibO 3.5.7... according to

including 4.2.0alpha.

basically the transparency warning should not appear if the document has no

intrusive and more flexible at the same time.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67718] New: UI: Advanced configuration tab empty when compiling without java

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67718

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67718
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: Advanced configuration tab empty when compiling
without java
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: jer...@escreve.me
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 83589
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83589&action=edit
Side to side, the Advanced tab when LibO is compile with (left) and without
(right) java.

When compiling libreoffice-4.1.0.4 (release) using the configure option
--without-java, the pan at tools/options/LibreOffice/Advanced is brokenly
empty.)

This pan should show 1) a list of java environments to choose from and 2)
Optional (unstable) options: Enable experimental features; Enable experimental
sidebar (on restart); Enable macro recording (limited). When java is disabled
at compile-time, it is understandable that the java part of the dialog is
removed. However the three other checkboxes should still be there.

Workaround (either of the two).
1. Activate java at compile-time, then deactivate it (if required) in the
Advanced dialog. Drawback: obliges the user to install a jdk/jre as the package
manager will pull java dependencies when activating the compile flag. This
dependency is useless as the sidebar does not require java, and it's a bit
annoying for users who do not want or do not have other uses for large jdk/jre
packages on their systems.
2. Compile with java, change desired options, then compile without java, and
remove undesired java dependencies. Drawback: not possible to change Advanced
options at a later point; need to perform two lengthy compilations.

Bug was reported on the gentoo bugzilla
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478346 and also discussed in forums
over there.

The configure line on my system follows. To give a cleaner presentation I
separate the common part and the specific part to activate/deactivate java
(which you have to concatenate to reconstitute the complete configure line -- I
hope order of parameters is not critical).

confirmed in LibO 4.0.4 and 4.1.0. See also Bug 65439

PDF/A-1a saving corrupts gradients, while if you unflag the PDF/A-1a option
saving is fine.

I think that this transparency issue is a limit of the PDF/A-1a, so IMHO this
is not a LibO bug.

moreover you receive a warning telling that tranparent component could not be
exported accurately.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67708] crash deleting object / undo stack oddness ...

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67708

Nah - I work on a presentation for half an hour, and eventually (over-long undo
stack?), I delete an object and bang.

Could be some generic memory corruption of course, but the NULL ptr is perhaps
indicative of something interesting ?

it seems that the original crash reported in early 4.1.0 builds doesn't happen
anymore (many Linux users do not reproduce it), so I'm gonna set the status to
RESOLVED WORKSFORME since we don't know what effectively fixed it.

Created attachment 83587
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83587&action=edit
Screenshot with Search activated and Match Case disable.

There is the Match Case option to have or not case insensitive. If it is enable
it is case sensitive.
In C3 there is a working hyperlink, and it is founded for Search.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67717] New: Other: Windows uninstaller fails to delete folders with **\__pycache__\*.cpython-33.pyc

2013-08-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67717

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 67717
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: Windows uninstaller fails to delete folders
with **\__pycache__\*.cpython-33.pyc
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: gekach...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Uninstall failed to delete folders with pycache files.
While these files may not have been created during installation,
they do not appear to be anything that user would want to keep.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice 4.1.04 (on windows xp)
2. (Tried version of LibreOffice Calc)
3. Uninstall (via control panel, add or remove programs)

Current behavior:

16 folders and 45 files remain

program/__pycache__/ (3 .cpython-33.pyc files)
program/python-core-3.3.0/lib/__pycache__/ (29 .cpython-33.pyc files)
program/python-core-3.3.0/lib/collections/__pycache__/ (2 .cpython-33.pyc
files)
program/python-core-3.3.0/lib/encodings/__pycache__/ (6 .cpython-33.pyc files)
program/python-core-3.3.0/lib/importlib/__pycache__/ (2 .cpython-33.pyc files)

share/extensions/dict-en/pythonpath/__pycache__/ (3 .cpython-33.pyc files)

Expected behavior:

All LibreOffice application folders and files are removed.

Additional info:

Bug 32112 comment 13 indicates the problem is known but deserves a separate bug
report. (I didn't find one so here is a such a report.) (Bug 32112 comment 13
also mentions the new pycache folders are the suspected cause of the
regression.)
Operating System: Windows XP

I have seen the bug, but can't reproduce it, without artificially
storing a file.
