Here's the Roman's questionnaire too:

Here is my complete standard “questionnaire” for such issues:
---

1) Do you have any accesibility features enabled? Apple’s accessibility
features like “VoiceOver” or “Enable access for assistive devices”, which get
enabled in “System Preferences Universal Access”, are known to cause many
crashes and freezes in LibreOffice. So please try to disable any accesibility
features, then check if the problem is still reproducible.

2) Do you have installed any window management/user interface
utilities/apps/control panels/extensions for Mac OS X like
   * AquaSnap* BetterSnapTool
   * BetterTouchTool * Breeze
   * Cinch   * Divvy
   * DoublePane  * Flexiglass
   * HyperDock   * iSnap
   * Moom* RightZoom
   * ShiftIt * SizeUp
   * SizeWell* Spectacle
   * Stay* TileWindows
   * WindowTidy  * Flavours (from flavours.interacto.net)
... or something similar?

And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little
application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse
curser/pointer, like
   * LazyMouse?

And/or do you use any special software which could be related to accessibility
stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech recognition software,
a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or similar?

All these and many similar utilities rely heavily on Mac OS accessibility
features and therefore can cause LibreOffice to crash or freeze. So please
check if you have installed any utility of this kind and try to disable it
(or to add LibreOffice to the list of excluded applications for the utility,
if there is such a thing).

So please check these possibilities, if any of them helps to make the crash go
away, and report the results here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68247] Fontwork uses English word Fontwork for samples instead of its localized name

--- Comment #5 from tommy27 ba...@quipo.it ---
(In reply to comment #4)
 It depends how each localization team localized this term. If Italian team
 left it Fontwork in Italian, then it is right that the sample text in
 Fontwork in Italian version is Fontwork. Slovenian team localized it as
 Stavec, so I (and probably all Slovenian users) expect that sample text in
 Slovenian LO should appear as Stavec and not Fontwork, because no one
 would know what it means.

  snip

so basically you say that in the slovenian localization fontwork is
translated in some places and not translated in other leading to inconsistency,
right?

It looks very close, but for some reason the frame with the internet address is
still showing up too low for me (maybe because I don't have the very last build
right now, if somebody can verify this is different between the version in
Ubuntu 13.04 and the last build, I can try to get one of those and verify...).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68247] Fontwork uses English word Fontwork for samples instead of its localized name

2013-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68247

--- Comment #6 from mi...@filmsi.net ---
No, I am saying that in Slovenian Fontwork (like I guess in Hungarian, Turkish
etc.) is everywhere translated in po files (in Slovenian into Stavec).

But when one uses Fontwork, the Fontwork applies a default effect onto default
text, and that default text in LO is Fontwork. That occurence of word
Fontwork cannot be localized (it is not part of pot/po files) and I am
proposing this as a bug - to make this sample text string Fontwork
localizable.

I hope I have been clear now.

I changed the column width to 30 characters - and discovered that the values
true and false are written to the database.

This means that LO is simply ignoring the values for the reference values ON
and OFF that are entered in the check box definition on the form.

But even if I change my reference values to true and false (or leave the
fields empty) and change my database to replace all the 0 and 1 by true and
false it doesn't work. true and false are written to the database from the form
but when reading from the database into the form only 0 and 1 are interpreted,
everything else is interpreted as false and leaves the tick box empty.

I changed the status to critical because de facto tick boxes simply don't work
and there is no work-around

None were enabled, unless Enable access for assistive devices counts.

* BetterTouchTool * Breeze
* Cinch   * Divvy

* SizeWell* Spectacle
* Stay* TileWindows
* WindowTidy  * Flavours (from flavours.interacto.net)
 ... or something similar?

RightZoom.

 And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little
 application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse

Kensington Mouseworks, but it does not modify the cursor/pointer, only enables
features of a track ball mouse.

 So please check these possibilities, if any of them helps to make the crash

I disabled Enable access for assistive devices in Universal Access and
RightZoom. I could not find an easy way to disable MouseWorks.

I attempted to relaunch.

LO 4.1.1.2 rc still crashes.

LO locks up when it is called with a /run/user/*/gvfs/smb-share:... pathname

Buggy PDF-export lacking hyphen symbols at end of line

When generating a PDF-export the hyphen symbols that had been generated
automatically through hyphenation do not show up in the exported PDF file.
They do show up in the ODT file.

Problem shows up only when turning on PDF/A option. See attachment.

Problem did not exist in older versions of Libreoffice (e.g. 3.5.4.2)

Also, I can reproduce the bug on at least 5 installations.

Problem description:

In LibreOffice 4.1.2, when trying to open .doc or .xls files generated from a
web page .html structured, it appears a general error - I/O error and the
files can't open. If I open them with MS Office 2003 and save them again in

2. give names to the pictures (right click-picture-option-name, pic for
the 1st pic, and pic2 for the 2nd pic), and save;
3. open the file again, names for the two pics become pic1 and pic21,
respectively;
4. do some edit to the file and save, open again, names for the two pics become
pic11 and pic211;
5. repeate step 4, more 1 will be added.

result expected:

Thanks.

It is just as well you give such great support. I find the UNO documentation
almost incomprehensible - there's too much terminology and structure I don't
know (and don't need to know most of the time). So although
http://api.libreoffice.org/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/form/binding/XValueBinding.html
might help if I was building a product and needed compatibility across
versions, frankly I've no idea how.

But never mind - I'm happy with it all working now. I did previously struggle
with the time format. The date was OK as an ISO mmdd (which I use anyway
elsewhere), but I can see the advantages of using proper structures for both

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Wasn't happy installing 4.1.0 until it is release as I am running a
production system. However, I have recently upgraded to 4.0.5 and the problem
does not occur with this version, so it appears that it was specific to 4.0.4.

I also note that it is now possible to select the font for fontwork (when
entering the text) so the feature request is solved too.

Many thanks

This doesn't crash for me and I get no warnings under valgrind.

Seeing as format page is super super basic functionality I'd have expected
hundreds of duplicates with a crash in this area.

If you could install valgrind and in a terminal
export VALGRIND=memcheck
and run calc from that terminal with
libreoffice --calc  valgrind.log 21
and get it to crash (will be very slow) and attach the valgrind.log that might
give us a better clue as to what's special here

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68844] New: Other: [Feature Request] =word(cellref, n, [delimiter]) function to extract the nth word

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68844

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: androidarmstr...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Originally asked on
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/22070/feature-request-wordcellrefn-function/

Quite often I need to quickly extract certain words from lines of text.
Text-to-columns is overkill for this because I usually have to delete all the
columns that I'm not interested in.

What I'd like to see is a function called word which extracts the nth word
from the text in a cell, which can be used like this:

A B  C
the cat sat on the mat=word(A1,2)=word(A1,6)

The result is:

the cat sat on the matcatmat

This is so much easier than hacking about with =mid(A1,1,find( ,A1)) ...and
similar acrobatics. A word is space-delimited text by default, and
leading/trailing/multiple spaces should be insignificant. That is, when you ask
for word 1, you should get the first space-delimited word and no surrounding
spaces.

The full function could allow a delimiter to be specified, for example
=word(cellref,pos[,delimiter]) in which you could specify one or more
delimiters. The delimiter, if omitted, should default to a space.

Invalid word position numbers should simply cause the function to return empty
text ().

A negative word position number should return the nth last word in the string.
For example, word(the cat,-1) should return cat.

Specifying zero as the word position should return empty text ().

The function should never return an error. The result is not used for
calculation, so an error indication is unnecessary. Empty text is an acceptable
return value when an error occurs.

The function should be called word. A precedent for this is the almost
identical function built-in to the Rexx Programming Language - see
http://www.rexxinfo.org/html/functions.html#word.

Steps to reproduce:
None. This is a feature request.

Current behavior:
Limited string manipulation functions which are less easy and more
time-consuming to use in the real world.

Expected behavior:
Intuitive easy-to-use built-in text manipulation functions which actually use
the power of computers rather than requiring an end-user to be a programmer. A
programmer could easily implement this as a
a user-defined function, but the vast majority of users are not programmers and
they would benefit from simple built-in functions such as this one. I'm not
asking for a regular expression parser. The simple functions should be
built-in.
Operating System: All

I can confirm this bug and that it has existed for both the Linux and Windows
versions since about 4.0. Yesterday, I downloaded and checked the Linux
version 4.1.1.2 and confirmed the problem remains.

To reproduce this bug press F2 to Edit a cell which contains a formula WITH
PARENTHESES, then use the Left / Right arrow keys to move within the cell. A
trail of cursor artifacts will result which makes editing the formula difficult
or practically impossible.

Moving the cursor all the way to the right or left or past a parentheses
temporarily clears some or all of the artifacts. Practically, the user has to
edit these formulas with the Formula bar or use the mouse to position the
cursor which is inefficient. The bug also degrades aesthetics.

The issue seems to be on the side of the pdf viewer.

I tested a bunch of document, and Adobe Reader displays gradients just fine
when Evince, ImageMagick and pdftocairo fail (visible horizontal lines).

On a side note the function handling gradients in pdfwriter_impl2.cxx
(PDFWriterImpl::playMetafile) has 2 ways to draw them and use USE_PDFGRADIENTS
constant to decide which implementation to use.

As USE_PDFGRADIENTS is always unset (AFAIK), maybe some cleanup here is
necessary ?

Extra info too
Opening from windows explorer with double left click gives the problem (Novell
OES network drive)
Opening from windows explorer with right-click - Open or right-click - Open
With
gives no problem
Opening from LO with [File], [open] gives no problem.

For me version 4.0.4 was ok. Problem appears with released versions 4.0.5 and
4.1.1.

Seems there isn't the problem with nightly build Win-x86@6-debug 4.1.2 from
2013-09-01. I say 'seems' because, as it's a dev version, I've associated it
manually with odf documents so I can open .odf with 4.1.2 with a double left
click

the distorted images after editing the file in Libre 4.1.X. Seems like the have
double the height.

Problem description:

I'm currently working on a large price list. So far this has worked great with
LibreOffice 3.X till 4.0.4.

Starting with 4.1.X after opening the file after it has been edited with 4.1.X
the images are sometimes distorted. It seems like they have double the height.

This isn't just a graphical error. The image proportions stay the same even
after opening the .ods file with LibreOffice 4.0.5 and OpenOffice.

ADDITIONAL ERROR:

When saving the spreadsheet with the distorted images in LibreOffice 4.1.X,
LibreOffice 4.1 and 4.1.1 ARE THEN UNABLE TO OPEN THE NEWLY SAVED FILE. The
LibreOffice splash screen stays there for a few minutes until I close
LibreOffice with the Task-manager.

However I can still open the file with LibreOffice 4.0.5 and OpenOffice.

Unfortunately this error has only occurred in the large price list which I
can't share with you as it has some important data from our company.

here on Linux the UI is indeed blocked after loading for about 20 seconds,
which did not happen on 3.6.7; contrary to comment #1 i see this on master too.

the main thread is blocked on a mutex while checking a grammar checker flag;
the thread 2 is running a GrammarCheckingIterator
from linguistic/source/gciterator.cxx, and is mostly in some ICU
breakiterator code. clearly something must be going wrong
if that takes 20 seconds on a 1 page document.

lol... problem was introduced by:

for additional lulz i've looked at the document in Word 2010 and
evidently the document statistic function cannot count more than

i've added a low-risk local fix to GrammarCheckingIterator on master,

And look at the sacrifices they had to make in order to get it allowed in the
AppStore :

http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/fr/macappstore.php

- no embedded hsqldb database functionality ;
- no Java framework or Java extension functionality ;
- no Python extension or Python framework functionality
- limited dictionary and language support
- virtually no integrated media support

Frankly, is it worth it ?

Header files with missing guard

Currently there are some header files which don't have any include guard at
all.

To identify them:

git grep -A1 '^\s*#ifndef' -- '*.hxx' | grep '\-#define\s' | sed
's/-#define.*//g' | sort -u  with-guards.tmp

find . -name *.hxx | sed 's/\.\///g' | sort -u  all-files.tmp

sort all-files with-guards | uniq -u  missing-guards.log

Currently this is a list of 261 files. There are some false positives, mainly
because it's a precompliled header or it has 'pragma once' as include guard.
But it should give a clou which files need an include guard.

The original RTF looks quite ugly on Version: 4.1.0.4 and Version:
4.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: c41920416c22bfccf7fdeeefcd69baf6eadedaa3

Import all text as black squares, with a white circle in it and a 1 in that
white circle. Doesn't look correctly I guess :)?

Kind regards,
Joren

@Joren,

Since .rtf files do not allow font embedding, you'll have to install the
attached font file. But it does not matter, the issue is, there should be one
space before and after the colon, in this case colon is imported right next to
the word; please see the attached .pdf file.

Seems this default option got disabled between 3.5.4 and 3.6.1.2.

Here's a help entry how to enable automatic numbering:

Note that if one embeds Java in an app there is no problem. Not trivial, but
not rocket science either. See
http://intransitione.com/blog/take-java-to-app-store/ . Whether that makes
sense or not, no idea.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68853] New: VIEWING: Write appears to loose font and or font metrics when opening files from other non-libre office app

2013-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68853

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68853
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: VIEWING: Write appears to loose font and or font
metrics when opening files from other non-libre office
app
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: unaussprechl...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 85075
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=85075action=edit
screenshot showing how text flows outside of the margins / page.

Problem description:
While working on a document in write I switched to vlc to open a data file.
when switching back to continue on my document the screen formatting changed.
sometimes the font seems to be switched to digbats sometimes the text continues
to the right past the margin and past the actual page width as if it lost the
font metrics.

If you save the document, close and open it again, nothing was really changed,
it appears to simply be in how the document is displayed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open vlc, open a mp3 or mp4 file
2. open write, open a document
3. switch to vlc, open another file
   media - open file - click on parent directory - select new subdirectory
- click on a new file - press open button

After opening the file, even before write once again receives focus, the
formatting changes.

alternative to reproduce
1. open write
2. open recent document
3. open ksnapshot, click on take new snapshot, save file
Before write receives focus, the formatting has changed.

Note: this behavior is most reproducable when switching directories as part of
open/save process.

Current behavior:
screen formatting changes in open document in write by simply using open or
save dialog in another program especially when changing directory in the
process.

Expected behavior:
formatting doesn't change.

Env.
linux mint 15 kde x64
Version 4.0.2.2 (Build ID 400m0(Build:2))
document was created in write, but is saved (as well as reloaded) in word 97
doc format, yet problem also occurs if document is in odf format.

Operating System: Linux (Other)
Version: unspecified
