Hi, thank you for reporting this. I am not able to reproduce this, yet. I
created a document with lorem ipsum text on the first page and a half, and
inserted a large image on the second half of the 2nd page. After that I had
more text.

When I get to the line right above the image, I can see part of the image, but
the software doesn't "jump" to show the image. When I keep pressing the down
key, the image is treated as one "line", though, and I see the complete image.

Do you have a test document I can look at?

Thank you,

Brenda

Hi,

Thanks for submitting a bug report. Can you give me some additional
information? Which spell check do you have? I have the option of Hunspell in
Tools -> Options -> Language Selection -> Writing Aids, but you could also have
another spell check or grammar check extension installed.

If the issue is with the extension, I can direct you to where to submit your
bug report.

Thank you,

Brenda

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50697] EDITING: terrible memory leak with documents containing cropped PostScript (.eps) images

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50697

This relates to bug #37837 but can not be described as duplicate since "This is
a regression that appeared between LibreOffice 3.4.5.2 in Fedora 16 and
LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 in Fedora 17."

What I do notice when opening attachment
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63060 is that while loading the
file, 'gs' and 'convert' are executed periodically one after. I'm suspecting
that both tools are executed for each rendered EPS while using either should be
sufficient.

Tested on Debian 7 32-bit, LO 4.1.0.4.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67866] ACCESSIBILITY: Missing language information in exported PDF

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67866

@Mike,

Kind of an apples and oranges issue. It is not a question of what language the
ODF document is prepared in (that is richly customizable in the Tools ->
Options -> Language Settings -> Languages tab). Rather it is an issue of a
suitable /LANG TAG being generated when the document is "Exported to PDF", and
since this is an accessibility issue--we are dealing exclusively with output of
Tagged PDF--or of meeting more demanding PDF/UA compliance.

As you suggest, that might best be done with addition of a UI Widget in the PDF
Options panel to select/override the ODF document's default language.

But in short we have a WCAG 2.0 Level A compliance issue for LibreOffice as a
document preparation software. See W3C WCAG Technique PDF16(
http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/WCAG20-TECHS/PDF16.html ). As is, LibreOffice will not
meet the current statutory accessibility requirements that are being derived
from the WCAG 2.0 with our exported tagged PDFs.

With publication of ISO 14289:1-2012 for PDF/UA "Universal Accessibility" we
need to progress beyond current limited capabilities and enhance our "Export to
Tagged PDF" to be able to more fully support PDF/UA--which requires more
refined control over PDF document structure. Correctly handling the language
tag is just an overdue start.

I looked at 46757 and did the following.

Step 1. Created a new Writer file with
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Phasellus eu ligula et
arcu dapibus viverra ac ut elit. Proin rhoncus sapien et velit cursus ac
molestie justo malesuada. Aliquam pretium, orci nec malesuada laoreet, nisl
nisi tristique dui, vitae rutrum ipsum libero sit amet nunc.

Step 2. Record changes.

Step 3. Replaced everything from "Proin" until "nunc." with "this is a test".

Result: Words 18, characters 113.
Should have been: Words 22, characters 128.

Hope this helps.

Please be more specific. What do you propose? I cannot see the point of this
support. What should be the default language of an arbitrary document?

Will it be the UI language? Or maybe the UI locale? If so, how to handle cases
when I (living in Russia) receive a document from a Japan colleague, and
convert it to PDF? Should it have Russian as default language?

Or should it be the language that is used in document? If so, how would you
select the default language for an English-Russian Dictionary of My Favorite
Idioms (it would contain roughly equal amount of both languages)?

Or should the default language be set only for those documents that contain
only one language? If so, will all other PDFs be standards-incompliant?

Or do you suggest a new UI control to select default language explicitly (say,
in Save As dialog)? (I myself would prefer that solution, after the program
made a heuristic guess, or give the last-used value in difficult cases).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54686] Numbers with percent signs not detected as numbers in French

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54686

Hi,

Steps to reproduce:
1. Check Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Localized Options > Add non-breaking
space...
2. In an empty cell of Calc, change language Format > Cell > Font > Language to
French (France)
3. Type "3%" (without quotes) and Enter

Current behavior:
A non-breaking space has been automatically inserted and the value is no more
recognized. It is text 3%

Expected behavior:
Value in cell should be 3.00%

If you remove the option, inserting "3 %" (with a regular space) is recognized
as a value 3.00%. So the recognition process should also recognized
"%" as a value.

The same occurs with ":" sign.
- without option, typing ":" is recognized as
a value of number of hours
- with option, without space or with several spaces is replaced by
":" and is not recognized as value

Numerous workarounds exist and are listed in the FAQ
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/FR/FAQ/Calc/137
However, you always realize your mistake too late, and have to retype your
value. :(

Sorry, you're right. It does only affect Postscript printing. I thoroughly

Seems to be a bug of Fedora LO. All bugs, which I had found in OpenSUSE-LO and
not in the original LO I have reported to OpenSUSE.

Could also be that the bug has gone when the next updates were made by Fedora
(LO 4.1.2.rc2 is ready ...).

So let us close this bug as worksforme. Feel free to reopen it, if you get the
reported behavior in the original packages of LO.

This file is a presentation I used for class. It uses lots of Word art and
angle changes, and some other formatting. Lots of formatting is lost in
Libreoffice unfortunately. Some animations that start automatically require
click in libreoffice sometimes and sometimes the text color is not correct in
the case where it becomes unreadable such as this presentation. Sorry for the
russian page, I couldn't upload the file directly to the bug report (too
large). Just click the download button and it'll work.

Success! I used the download from LO to install 4.1.1.2 and it worked.

It looks like there may be something is wrong with the Fedora package.

Now that I know the LO version works, I intend to go back and reinstall the
Fedora packages on my test machine to see if they still fail.

I had to re-register the database before it would be recognized and used. I'm
not sure what that is all about. Not a biggie - brought up writer and deleted
the entry and registered again.

Should I leave this open pending the test with the Fedora package?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69584] New: FORMATTING: Fit print range(s) to width/height in under Format > Page > Sheet not functioning as described in Docs

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69584

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69584
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Fit print range(s) to width/height in
under Format > Page > Sheet not functioning as
described in Docs
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: bsm...@largo.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

As is described in the online documentation here:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Sheet_2#Fit_print_range.28s.29_to_width.2Fheight

You should be able to leave one or both of the height/width options blank:

"You may clear one of the boxes, then the unspecified dimension will use as
many pages as necessary. If you clear both boxes, this will result in a scaling
factor of 100%."

This is not the behavior in LibreOffice 4.1.1.2 or 4.2 alpha0.

When attempting to leave those fields blank it resets to '1'. The same happens
when you attempt to set them to '0'.

Has this been changed purposefully? In previous versions, leaving the
height/width field blank seemed to be the only method for allowing manual
manipulation of the page breaks in Page Break Preview. Now, to my knowledge,
there is no way to select the "Fit print range(s) to width/height" scale
option, set the width (so vertical page breaks remain constant), and then
manually drag the horizontal page breaks up/down in Page Break Preview.

No.
Given that there's very little developer interest in working on UX bugs, I see
bitesized bugs as the only chance for getting anything solved.

Do you have any suggestions on ways to get UX bugs solved?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69569] Implementation of YEARFRAC function inconsistent with Excel

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69569

Note: I have checked the modifications made by Lionel Elie Mamane at
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0f002a14ecdc445deb2bc8d4cc6fbe4b724ac7f6&h=libreoffice-4-1
- just looking at the code, since I have no access to the daily build.

It appears as if this modification makes LibreOffice consistent with the
documentation BUT not consistent with Excel's implementation of YEARFRAC.

To make that precise. If you take the implementation at
http://svn.finmath.net/finmath%20lib/trunk/src/main/java/net/finmath/time/daycount/DayCountConvention_ACT_ACT_YEARFRAC.java

the difference is in the line
if(isStartLeapYear && isEndLeapYear)
here LibreOffice uses
if(isStartLeapYear && !isEndLeapYear)
instead.

Switchboard starts automatically when you open the Base-file? So it could be
switchboard hangs - not the database itself.

>
> The database is around 900 kb. I would upload it if necessary.

Don't upload such a database with your personal data. First try to open the
database without switchboard. If it hangs in the same way open a copy of the
database in 4.1.0.4 and remove all data. Then try again with 4.1.1.2. If this
has the same buggy behavior you could add this database without content here as
attachment.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62284] SVG import regression in LibreOffice 4.0 and above

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62284

I *think* I can confirm this.
Mine is not chemistry, but perfectly okay simple electric circuit diagrams. I
made maybe hundred, inserted into the presentation (LO 3.7.X.X) one year ago,
came out okay, and now with 4.0.2.2 they are garbled, parts missing, especially
with parts close to the borders being cropped. But also positions of elements
have changed.

I have inserted a screenshot of the edit preview in 4.0.2.2 ('faulty') of the
same identical presentation file and the edit preview in 3.6.7. ('correct').

Make that a bad regression, and to me this is not 'major', but a blocker. I
have a dozen presentations, with hundreds of image files - either svg or eps -
and both formats do not come out in any proper sense. They don't allow proper
export to PDF neither with 4.0.2.2.
This software should not have been released. Over.

I ran into this bug today and share the objection that Kentaro Fukuchi voices.

Either remove the option "Always with current page" and add a shift+F5 action
to the SlideShow menu. Or make the "Always with current page" option
functional.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69505] FILEOPEN: Base hangs trying to open existing database

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69505

I will try with the packages directly from LO and see what happens.

There are no macros opened when the database is open. The only add on is
Switchboard that allows me to create a menu structure for some common tasks.

The database is an embedded HSQLDB. I have considered and tried using MYSQL
but I haven't been able to figure it out. I took time off this summer but I
will get back to it later. I stopped because 4.0 seemed to have fixed some
problems I was having with corrupted data.

The database is around 900 kb. I would upload it if necessary. Let me try the
LO packages first. It may take me a day or 2 to get it loaded and tested.

Thanks for the quick responses.

some problems with the dpi-values in the resolution-dropdown-list. This list
offers six options: 75, 100, 300, 600, 1200 or 2400 dpi. All these options are
enabled, but only 75 or 2400 dpi can be choosed. I wanted to scan with 300 dpi,
but this wasn't possible. So I choosed 75 dpi, but the image was scanned in

And if you are not working with an embedded HSQLDB, please tell

If you attach the .odb file itself, that would be helpful. Be

This seems a bit more important, since with the page not announcing the RCs,

How is this bug a dup of Disable UI "Corner Radius" for custom shape
rectangle"???

I am using 4.0.2.2

You are allowed to change the corner radius of rectangle objects. When do you,
the radius is not saved with the file.

This has nothing to do with "Disable UI "Corner Radius" for custom shape
rectangle"

Please fix this basic capability. It's needed.

There could be some differences. I have installed the packages from OpenSUSE
and from LO. With packages from OpenSUSE I can connect to some databases, where
the connection with direct-LO-packages doesn't work. On the other hand we had
bugs about import of some graphics, which doesn't work in openSUSE and Ubuntu,
but does work in direct-LO-packages.

Could be the same database could be opened by packages directly from LO.

Some questions:
1. Is there any macro executed when starting the database?
2. Is it an internal database (HSQLDB)?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69577] New: Improve appearance of shadows added to objects (text and images) in LO Impress

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69577

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69577
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Improve appearance of shadows added to objects (text
and images) in LO Impress
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: diaz.bast...@ymail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

The appearance of the shadows that are added to the objects in LO Impress is
somewhat outdated, as it simply repeats the object in a dark color.

Ideally, get a shadow with blur (like PowerPoint). Moreover, the shadow options
an image should be on par with options for text, in the sense that they can be
consistent (eg color).

This simple change can greatly help improve the appearance of presentations
made with LO Impress.

Thanks

Okay, the imagemagick && ghostscript tricks do not work.
But downgrade to 3.6.7 works. The interface looks like a pile of c***, but
the images come out properly in presentation mode.

Now I only need someone to tell me how to install two LOs next to each
other?

Let us say this is a very bad regression.

And let me add, that svg-s also come out crooked (cropped, incomplete) with
the 4.0.2.2 version. I am tempted to file another bug report for this one
as well? Or does it end up with the same people who are aware of this
misery already?

Thanks at least for the downgrade-workaround!

So, let's work with hrc/src files :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64275] EDITING: Cursor position is lost when moving the cursor up and down

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64275

I just downloaded and installed:
Version: 4.1.1.2
Build ID: 7e4286b58adc75a14f6d83f53a03b6c11fa2903
to try this again. I saw exactly the same behaviour as before.

With this text:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP
abcdefghijkl

If you place the cursor at the end of the first line, use the arrow keys to
move the cursor down 2 lines and then back up again, it will end up between L
and M. Interestingly, trying the same thing while typing this message on the
website, it behaves as it should. When I move the cursor back up with the
arrow key it returns to exactly where it started, as it should.

Reopened as enhancement.

Setting as enhancement request, reasonable that in efforts to produce ISO
14289-1.2012 compliant PDF/UA ( see bug 45636 )we also start to handle simple
PDF document metadata like Default language.
