These are serious deficiencies, especially when editing long documents. Note: As to the pilcrow sign, it is a standard Unicode character, and it has been in Unicode since 1.1. It can be (and has long been) legitimately used for any number of good reasons in text documents other than merely acting as the LibreOffice end-of-paragraph marker. There can be no reason why it is excluded from LibreOffice Search and Search+Replace. Note: Issue 2/ might well be a direct consequence of issue 1/. If so, then making the pilcrow sign findable and replaceable may perhaps also address and resolve issue 2/. Routine Case: When editing a document to improve readability, the editor splits a multi-sentence paragraph in two by hitting the "Enter" key twice after one of the sentences within the original paragraph. The editor makes no further changes. The edited document is then saved as a new version. When this new version of the document is now compared to the original version using the Edit > Compare document... function, then nothing of the split paragraph is found to be identical between the two versions. Specifically: 1/ The unsplit paragraph in the original document is simply marked as completely deleted. And 2/ The two resulting paragraphs in the revised document are marked as entirely new text which is not in the original. This is clearly wrong. And it is clearly extremely unhelpful. It can even be misleading. Note: This behaviour occurs whatever the settings chosen in Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Comparison. Finally found a workaround that seems to work fine: - Add the picture to your presentation (the first time it is correctly displayed) - Select the picture in the presentation - Cut the picture into the copy & paste buffer (CTRL-X) - Paste the picture again but as GDI metafile (Shift CTRL-V) - Done After this format change, I did not loose my pictures again. Current cups server rhel6 cups 1.4.2 ghostscript 8.70 New test cups server Arch Linux cups 1.7.0 ghostscript 9.10 I set up the same networked postscript printer using the settings/ppd on both cups servers. I was then able to use libreoffice 4.1.2 on a system exhibiting the bug to "Print to file," which generated a pdf. After that, I printed the generated pdf using lpr to each printer. On the old cups server, it failed in the way I described above, but everything printed as it should on the new cups server. While researching this problem, it appears that there have been quite a few bugfixes to ghostscript to handle CUPS's transition from postscript to PDF-based printing workflow in 1.6.x. This issue was likely fixed with one of those changes. Every save / open dialog called from the Java extension freezes LO using the Qxygen engine. Changing the theming engine won't freeze LO, but doesn't bring up a dialog either. If you set "export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome" to use the Gnome LO backend, the dialogs work fine. I've build and attached a minimalistic extension showing the error. Create a new draw document 2. Place two shapes such as rectangles 3. Use a connector line between the shapes such that the line has at least 2 corners. 4. Use the modifier in the line to put in in a different position as the default. 5. Save the document 6. Close the document 7. Open the document Current behavior: The line is reset back to its default routing after loading. Presumably the routing information is not stored in the document? Expected behavior: The line should keep the routing I assigned to it. Besides that, there must be some bug in the exception handling code if Calc is crashing so easily and frequently that a variable name in a function can't be changed, and the error reporting is not indicating BASIC problems properly. I can understand that immature code may exist in open source software, but to say false reporting of "Err:520" with all sorts of confusing operational consequences is "Not a bug", and then dismiss it, is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. I have written a lot of macros using Excel for very sophisticated scientific and engineering spreadsheets programs and encountered a lot of bugs, but nothing like this. For the sake of improving LibreOffice, I hope you will reconsider what is called a bug to dismiss significant problems that affect compatibility with Windows spreadsheets and documents. Incidentally, is there an way to call the pi() function for use in User Defined functions? After opening an ods file created with LO 4.0.2.2, the current version of LO 4.1.3.2 creashes. I could reproduce the origin of this bug, which is related to 4.1.3.2: When I create the attached spreadsheed, there is no problem. I use the formula 'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:A7;1);1;0)'. There is also no probem, When I enlarge the cell range at formula from A1:A29. The text in the draw:custom_shape does not have all of the formatting options as draw:frame (when typing F4 the 'Adapt' options are grey). I don't know why I have these draw:custom_shape elements, but I would guess a PPT format conversion somewhere created these. It can be seen in the XML that the two objects are similar. But I never drew boxes and added text, so I don't know why it was converted to this. It would be good if there was a way to interconvert between these elements. Or at least to eliminate the shape without reverting to unzipping the file and manually editing the XML. I tried to reproduce it for many times and every time I had the same result. P.S. By the way, if both odd and even footers align center, the document saves and opens correctly. I have tried this with many different reports - all reports with charts fail and let LO 4.2 crash immediately. It isn't possible to edit such a report in LO 4.2 - it produces the same crash. Then I tried to create a new report in LO 4.2 with a chart.
