I have been very sloppy indeed, apologies for that. LibreOffice Search and
Search+Replace can, of course, find the pilcrow sign within paragraphs, but –
and that is the usability issue here – not where used as an end-of-paragraph
marker. Thus, in effect only issue 2/ remains.

LibreOffice Writer Search and Search+Replace:

1/ Cannot locate the pilcrow sign (¶, U+00B6, also used in LibreOffice as the
end-of-paragraph marker), neither within a paragraph nor at the end of a
paragraph.

2/ Cannot find and replace continuous strings that span over multiple
paragraphs.

These are serious deficiencies, especially when editing long documents.


Note: As to the pilcrow sign, it is a standard Unicode character, and it has
been in Unicode since 1.1. It can be (and has long been) legitimately used for
any number of good reasons in text documents other than merely acting as the
LibreOffice end-of-paragraph marker.

There can be no reason why it is excluded from LibreOffice Search and
Search+Replace.

Note: Issue 2/ might well be a direct consequence of issue 1/. If so, then
making the pilcrow sign findable and replaceable may perhaps also address and
resolve issue 2/. If not, then issue 2/ must be filed separately in the
LibreOffice Bugzilla.

The docx was given to me from offensive security for the class that im taking
from them, i had MS office originally but my trial ran out.

In attempting to recreate the bug myself with saved versions of the same docx
file
it seems saving multiple times with libreoffice finally overwrote whatever was
making that happen..

I cant say what was causing it, the original file im not sure i am allowed to
publish.

With the update to Libre Office 4.1.2 this issue got fixed for me.

When changing the position of the cursor or entering a new line the cursor now
starts with a "new full blink cycle", eliminating the cursor flickering that
occurred before.

Condition:

1/ The global system locale is set to: "English - Great Britain".
2/ In LibreOffice, under Tools > Options > Languages:
2.1/ The entries for "User interface" and "Locale setting" under the heading
"Language of" are both set to "Default - English (UK)".
2.2/ The entry for "Western" under the heading "Default languages for
documents" is set to "Default - English (UK)", and the entry for "Asian" is set
to "Default - Chinese (simplified)". The option "For the current document only"
is not ticked.
2.3/ Under the heading "Enhanced language support", the option "Ignore system
input language" is not ticked.

Issue:

Nothing in these settings suggests any connections with the USA.

Yet, any new document has the deviant and uniquely-US page format "Letter",
rather than ISO standard A4.

Any page format changes to A4 made in the "Default" page style through "Format"
> "Styles and Formatting" > "Page Styles" icon > "Default Style" > "Modify..."
do not stick between documents. This even applies to new documents opened when
the same instance of LibreOffice is running.

This behaviour is clearly inconsistent and wrong.

Also, because the user is not alerted to this behaviour, it leads to many
misformatted documents.

Issue concerns: LibreOffice Writer > Edit > Compare Document...

Routine Case: When editing a document to improve readability, the editor splits
a multi-sentence paragraph in two by hitting the "Enter" key twice after one of
the sentences within the original paragraph. The editor makes no further
changes. The edited document is then saved as a new version.

When this new version of the document is now compared to the original version
using the Edit > Compare document... function, then nothing of the split
paragraph is found to be identical between the two versions. Specifically:

1/ The unsplit paragraph in the original document is simply marked as
completely deleted. And
2/ The two resulting paragraphs in the revised document are marked as entirely
new text which is not in the original.

This is clearly wrong. And it is clearly extremely unhelpful. It can even be
misleading.

Note: This behaviour occurs whatever the settings chosen in Tools > Options >
LibreOffice Writer > Comparison.

Note: This behaviour occurs whatever the length of the original paragraph. (It
may, for instance, even be just two words; or even just one word broken in two
parts with "Enter" and with the option "Compare documents" > "By character" set
in Tools > Options).

As not all number have an exact representation in binary format, maybe some of
them are in the input table, this can leads in a result with decimals, in this
case it is no possible to see decimal places because there is rounding in the
precision bounds.
In AQ53:
=5310866044486,997

Doing an INT() in AQ53:
=INT(MDETERM(AL44:AS51))
maybe fits better your sheet calculations.

I think there is no solution, the best aproximation, take care of it when
designing the spreadsheet. Otherwise using a specialised software.

this setting is always automatically returned to "Auto".

Yet, this is not a setting defined as per-document or per-instance only.

The Document Compare function in Writer does not compare footnotes, endnotes,
fields, headers, footers, frames, etc.

Yet, in many classes of document, it is precisely these elements which contain

The ability to detect any changes in these crucial text elements between
successive edits of a document is simply essential.

pi is a predefined const in Basic, no need to use the Calc pi() function. Both
have the same double precision.

In general, access to Calc functions is via service
"com.sun.star.sheet.FunctionAccess"

Example for function pi():

oFunctionAccess = createUnoService( "com.sun.star.sheet.FunctionAccess" )
dim myCalcPI as double

Two lines that generates grammar warnings. The first in pt_BR and the second in
en_US.

U use formulas embedded inside a line like:

The e=mc² is cool.

If e=mc² is inserted as an OLE Formula Object, grammar checker warns that "The 
is cool." has two spaces

The similar problems happens when the formula is at the beginning or the end of
a phase.

With a debug build of master commit f07a011, fetched 2013-10-12, built and
running Linux 64-bit, I created and registered /tmp/a.odb.  When I click on
that file in Start Center, the program says, entirely reasonably:
    /tmp/a.odb does not exist.
Menu option File > "Recent Documents" does not offer the file.  The data view
in Calc gives the "does not exist" message when I try to expand Tables in the
left pane.  I think this program behavior is correct.

Version: 4.0.6.2

MID() always return the first value "4", this is why result in 96.
Seems that MID() doesn't accept an inner array without an explicit array
formula.

The follow formula get 89 as result:
{=SUM(VALUE(MID(A1;{1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12};1))*{1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3})}
entered as array Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
or
=SUMPRODUCT(VALUE(MID(A1;{1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12};1));{1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3;1;3})
but is needed to use VALUE() function transforming the string returned by MID()
in a number.

So I can confirm the behaviour but I don't know if it is really a bug.

I had the same problem in LibreOffice 3.6 with a png picture.

Finally found a workaround that seems to work fine:
- Add the picture to your presentation
  (the first time it is correctly displayed)
- Select the picture in the presentation
- Cut the picture into the copy & paste buffer (CTRL-X)
- Paste the picture again but as GDI metafile (Shift CTRL-V)
- Done
After this format change, I did not loose my pictures again.

the file "fnf 1500 - 1570" does not open at all, the file "Finanzen 2013" opens

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make a line chart on a spreadsheet on 3.6 (maybe 4.0) Put it on a writer
document.
2. Open the writer document on 4.1: the line chart can't be seen properly.

After MANY more tests printing from various environments to various CUPS
servers. I no longer think LibreOffice is the primary cause of this bug.

Current cups server
rhel6
cups 1.4.2
ghostscript 8.70

New test cups server
Arch Linux
cups 1.7.0
ghostscript 9.10

I set up the same networked postscript printer using the settings/ppd on both
cups servers. I was then able to use libreoffice 4.1.2 on a system exhibiting
the bug to "Print to file," which generated a pdf.  After that, I printed the
generated pdf using lpr to each printer.  On the old cups server, it failed in
the way I described above, but everything printed as it should on the new cups
server.

While researching this problem, it appears that there have been quite a few
bugfixes to ghostscript to handle CUPS's transition from postscript to
PDF-based printing workflow in 1.6.x.  This issue was likely fixed with one of
those changes.

I'll mark this as RESOLVED, but I'm sure this and other pdf print mode bugs
will still affect older print servers.

Extension source and binary (CrashTest.oxt)

I'm on Ubuntu saucy (13.10) using a git 4.2 build. HEAD is
634837d9226375292242ee093099563f2a546e9a.

I'm trying to run the WollMux extension (www.wollmux.org) with the LO KDE4
backend. Every save / open dialog called from the Java extension freezes LO
using the Qxygen engine. Changing the theming engine won't freeze LO, but
doesn't bring up a dialog either.

If you set "export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome" to use the Gnome LO backend, the
dialogs work fine. 

I've build and attached a minimalistic extension showing the error.

When using the Oxygen KDE4 backend I get lot of QThread errors:

Problem description: 
I am often using Libreoffice draw (and OOo draw before that) for making
software architecture designs. Now I just noticed that a connector line that
was adjusted to follow a specific route doesn't stay in its designed place when
the document is saved, closed and reopened. 

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new draw document
2. Place two shapes such as rectangles
3. Use a connector line between the shapes such that the line has at least 2
corners.
4. Use the modifier in the line to put in in a different position as the
default.
5. Save the document
6. Close the document
7. Open the document

Current behavior:
The line is reset back to its default routing after loading. Presumably the
routing information is not stored in the document?

Expected behavior:
The line should keep the routing I assigned to it.

I upgraded my distribution from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 and now it works for me
as expected. I did my tests with LO 4.1.4.0.0+ with the same patch as the one
submitted for bug 70553.
- each opened document has the icon of its type (text, spreadsheet,
presentation, etc.) in the launcher;
- if several documents of the same type are opened, they are grouped under the
same icon in the launcher.
Same behavior with the master.

So, as it works as expected in Ubuntu 13.10 but not in Ubuntu 13.04 with the
same binaries, I conclude that the bug is on the Unity side, not on LibreOffice
side.

I don't know how the "Err:520" in the Function Wizard can NOT be a bug of some
kind when it appears in a fresh start of LibreOffice Calc, and then disappears
when something is really wrong like using a reserved variable name "pi" in
LibreOffice BASIC.  Besides that, there must be some bug in the exception
handling code if Calc is crashing so easily and frequently that a variable name
in a function can't be changed, and the error reporting is not indicating BASIC
problems properly.  

I can understand that immature code may exist in open source software, but to
say false reporting of "Err:520" with all sorts of confusing operational
consequences is "Not a bug", and then dismiss it, is like throwing the baby out
with the bath water.  I have written a lot of macros using Excel for very
sophisticated scientific and engineering spreadsheets programs and encountered
a lot of bugs, but nothing like this.  For the sake of improving LibreOffice, I
hope you will reconsider what is called a bug to dismiss significant problems
that affect compatibility with Windows spreadsheets and documents.   

Incidentally, is there an way to call the pi() function for use in User Defined
functions?

Confirming for LibO 4.1 (openSUSE 12.3/x86-64 build).
Can't (!) confirm on my own few-weeks-old 4.2-master build (again, Linux
x86-64).

This logo is an SVG, so any corruption in this logo may also occur with other
SVG images. On openSUSE, the file is installed under:
  /usr/share/libreoffice/program/flat-logo.svg (may be elsewhere on other
OS's),
in the LibO core repo, it is in:
  $REPO/icon-themes/galaxy/brand/flat-logo.svg


Given that the triangles in the background (another SVG) are not pixelated, the
bug may just have to do with how the SVG is embedded into the window in this
particular place..?

2_ In a new spreadsheet, select A1, Paste Only number.
3_ Copy cell AQ54
4_ In the same new spreadsheet, select B1, Paste Only number.

6_ In the same new spreadsheet, select C1, Paste Only number.

>From now on, the following testing steps are all executed in the new
spreadsheet.
7_ D1: =MOD(A1*B1,C1) , result: 26.984375.
8_ In A2 type in 341139058173 (just as a number).
9_ B2: 119
10_ C2: 128
11_ D2: =MOD(A2*B2,C2) , result 27.
12_ D3: =MOD(341139058173*119,128) , result 27.

and now the more relevant formula:
13_ D4: =MOD(INT(A2)*B2,C2) , result 27.

So using INT gives the adequate expected result, suggesting either:

A_ that the original cell AL65 (and the new A1) is not really exactly equal to
341139058173 ; or

B_ that there might be some problem with some floating point calculation.

I have performed the test in Calc 4.1.3.2 (on Windows).

As of version 4.4, Android now has printing support. That pretty much means
that Android is now a general purpose operating system with which you can do
pretty much everything, except, of course, word processing and spreadsheets.

I am working on two machines, one running with Linux Mint 15 KDE (LO 4.0.2.2),
the other one running with Kubuntu 12.10 (LO 4.1.3.2) --- both in german
language.

After opening an ods file created with LO 4.0.2.2, the current version of LO
4.1.3.2 creashes. I could reproduce the origin of this bug, which is related to
4.1.3.2:

When I create the attached spreadsheed, there is no problem. I use the formula
'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:A7;1);1;0)'. There is also no probem, When I enlarge the
cell range at formula from A1:A29.

But when I use 'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:30;1);1;0)', LO crashes without any error
message.

What I would like is to convert the draw:custom_shape element to the equivalent
draw:frame element.  The text in the draw:custom_shape does not have all of the
formatting options as draw:frame (when typing F4 the 'Adapt' options are grey).
 I don't know why I have these draw:custom_shape elements, but I would guess a
PPT format conversion somewhere created these.  It can be seen in the XML that
the two objects are similar.  But I never drew boxes and added text, so I don't
know why it was converted to this.

It would be good if there was a way to interconvert between these elements.  Or
at least to eliminate the shape without reverting to unzipping the file and
manually editing the XML.  Or copying the text out of each box, pasting it as
text to create the draw:frame element, deleting the original text+box, and
moving the new text back to where the old text was.

this issue seems minor since it doesn't affect productivity and is just a
matter of aesthetics... however I feel that this ugly about logo could be used
against the LibO project to discredit the quality of the project.

I know that you should not judge a book by it's cover, but I think action must
be taken before someone uses this to accuse LibO of being a buggy software...

I mean, somebody could argue that "LibO comes out with a scrambled about box,
would you dare compose your documents with such a software?"

so I'm thinking if we should give this bug a MAB status.

LibreOffice don't save a footer's alignment correctly.
I've created a document with a footers. Then I went to Format – Page – Footer
and disabled “same content left/right”.
On the odd pages a footer was aligned right, and on the even ones it was
aligned left.
When I saved a document, closed and reopened it, both odd and even pages
footers were aligned right. I tried to reproduce it for many times and every
time I had the same result.

P.S. By the way, if both odd and even footers align center, the document saves
and opens correctly.

In this sheet I invert Modular Matrix, for testing Python implementantion of
algorithms

=RESIDUO(5310866044487,128) gives a result of 70.9970703125 instead of 71
and in AL74 gives a result of 26.984375 instead of 27  also in see AL55 in
attached file.

  AQ gives the correct result 37

(these are modular functions, that has no fractional part)

Two reports in the database. The report with a chart let LO crash immediately.

Open the attached Database.
There are two reports in this database. One Report with a chart, the other
(same content) without a chart.
When trying to open the report with the chart LO since 4.2 crashes immediately. 
When opening the same report without a chart it works well.

I have tried this with many different reports - all reports with charts fail
and let LO 4.2 crash immediately. It isn't possible to edit such a report in LO
4.2 - it produces the same crash.

Then I tried to create a new report in LO 4.2 with a chart. The creation works,
but the first start of the report let LO crash immediately.

An ODT document, illustrating with screenshots, the situation described.

Problem description: 
Selecting the MMULT function from the Function Wizard displays the function's
construction. The two variables used as separate arguments have the same name.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an instance of Calc and single click on the MMULT function in the
Function Wizard.
Current behavior:

Expected behavior:
This is not a good practice and each variable should have a numeric attached,
such that they become array1 and array2.

Version: 4.1.2.3 release

I'm confused now. In case of sentence capitalizing, there should be lowercase
"i" if it is not the first word
