[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68148] single line cell borders turn dashed when opened with different LibO release

Stupid question:

Is it possbile to have some kind of workaround? e.g. Run some specific macro
(within LibreOffice) and the border-lines are set properly?

Hi,

- are your Calc file sufficiently anonymous to be provided to us for analysis ?
- what settings do you have in Tools > Options > Language settings > Language ?
- what format (ODS ? XLS ? other ?) do you use for saving and reopening ?
- do you format cells explicitely (what we call "direct formating"), not with
the "Cell Style" feature ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71339] EDITING sigma icon (sum function) operating on selected range

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71339

"Click on the Sigma, then select [the range]" : I appreciate the simplicity of
this assertion (understanding it is preceded by "Select the cell where you want
the SUM, then").

In this case, there would be no tentative of misuse if the sum was unique and
housed only in the (unique) active cell, instead of trying a possibly useless
computing on all selected cells.

However, the feature consisting in filling in 1 clic the empty bottom line of a
table with column SUMs (on a proposed range which is globally rectangular) is
provided both in Excel, AOO and LibO, so we can't get rid of it as easily, even
if it is impossible to subsequently adjust the ranges globally. So we really
need a specification for AutoSUM.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61918] Cannot merge image into frame in Writer with Avimark

> that

Please indicate the explicit steps taken to do this, because there is no
similar ability in LO. A text box is a type of frame, but it cannot receive a
graphic and cannot be converted in the manner indicated. The Insert > Frame...
facility allows the insertion of a frame that can in turn have a graphic object
inserted into it. This also limits the dimension of any inserted graphic.

Presumably the reference is to using "merge words" (from the indicated chapter)
like or in a text box, which then expand / link to
the graphic in question. This will not work for a text box for the reason
indicated. Please try this in the type of frame mentioned and report back if
you still have the problem.

> A similar problem occurs when the user tries to merge any (not just an image)
> "merge word" into a table.

Please indicate the file format (DOC, DOCX, ODT) being used and provide a
sample file if possible. Thanks.

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 71902
CC: webs...@global.libreoffice.org
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: BUGZILLA: Setting version back to "Inherited From OOo"
results in erroneous warning.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: owen.ge...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA PossibleRegression
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
In setting the version of bug 52526 from "3.5.5.3 release" to "Inherited From
OOo" I received this message:

> You are changing the version of the bug to a later version.
> As the version field of the bug should show the earliest version
> manifesting the bug, please reconsider, if you really want to do this.
> Please do not change a version, because it also manifests in a later
> version. for details, please see the guidelines

The change was not to a later version but rather an earlier version.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Find existing bug with LO release version (3.5.x?).
2. Change version back to "Inherited From OOo".
3. Warning text is displayed.

Current behavior: Displays warning message when setting Version field back to
earliest possible setting.

Expected behavior: Only displays warning message when setting Version field
forward to later version.

May be related to bug 69369, and thus not fixable, but I thought I should at
least document the behaviour in a bug report.
Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.1.3.2 release
Last worked in: 4.1.2.3 release

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60154] Option Display of Fields: Hidden Paragraphs changes vertical alignment in tables

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60154

I think this bug either needs to be RESOLVED as INVALID (because the provided
example file does not contain a hidden paragraph) or the entire nature of the
bug needs to be changed to reflect what the problem actually is i.e., a
rendering issue that has nothing to do with hidden paragraphs. By way of
example, here is the XML for a hidden paragraph:

>
> text:is-hidden="true"/>This paragraph contains a hidden paragraph variable.
>

There is no text:hidden-paragraph element in the example of the attachment to
the description. I can confirm comment #2 under Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 running
v4.1.3.2 but this is a separate issue.

Per response from Ady, if I go to View/Toolbars/and uncheck Standard, it
behaves as one would expect, and does not show up again. However, what I
initially did was drag the Standard Toolbar down so it was a floating window,
and then clicked the "X" in the upper right to close it. after that, any time
I entered data into any cell it would re-appear each time. So the trick is to
uncheck it through View/Toolbars, rather than closing the floating toolbar.

Thanks for your report.

Testing in LO 4.1.3.2 , Windows. I cannot reproduce your problem.

I start with an empty spreadsheet, "View -> Toolbars -> Standard" is initially
checked so I uncheck it and the Standard toolbar disappears as expected.

Then I insert data into cells; the Standard toolbar is still not seen.

Once again I go to "View -> Toolbars -> Standard" and check it so to display
it.

Can you replicate these simple steps?

I am setting the status as WORKSFORME. If the problem still persists, please
add an additional comment and set it back again to UNCONFIRMED.

Regards,

ODS showing difference in ISNUMBER() behaviour for external / local references.

Tested under Crunchbang 11 x86_64 running v4.1.3.2 Build ID:
70feb7d99726f064edab4605a8ab840c50ec57a. The two files in the attached should
be self-explanatory, but basically:

- a.ods references source data in b.ods and compares against local references.
- b.ods source data (B1:B4) containing some basic numeric and non-numeric data.

External references of the type
=ISNUMBER('file:///path/to/file.ods'#$Sheet1.B1) appear to return FALSE
regardless of data type, while local references of the type =ISNUMBER(B1)
return TRUE or FALSE as expected i.e., according to data type.

The text in the original description exhibited several problems:

- Only file a.ods is attached.
- Description references A.ODS and C.ODS.
- Attachment contains formula directory references "~/Le Pro/Dossiers/b.ods"
which are not indicated in the description.
- Cell references are not clear or consistent.

These points made using the original example unworkable. I have set the
component to Spreadsheet (from Writer) and edited the summary for greater
clarity. I will attach a clearer example that better exhibits the problem, as
it does appear to be a problem.

I am confirming this bug. Changes:

- Status set to NEW.
- Component set to Documentation (although it also relates to WWW and the
underlying Writer facility) as this is what the original report indicates.
- Platform to All.
- Importance to low, and severity to enhancement (refer next point).
- Dependency on bug 67619 added as this seems like the related enhancement
request to get the Writer facility itself improved. It would be good if someone
from QA could determine if one of these is a duplicate of the other or whether
separate bugs can be kept to track changes to a facility and the related
documentation.
- Summary edited to more clearly indicate that the problem is with edit and
delete tasks of managing caption text, particularly in relation to graphics.

Under GNU/Linux running v4.1.3.2, right-click on an inserted graphic >
Caption... > click Help button results in this link:

https://help.libreoffice.org/swriter/modules/swriter/ui/insertcaption/caption_edit?Language=en-US&System=UNIX&Version=4.1

... which here displays "There is currently no text in this page. You can
search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs, but you
do not have permission to create this page."

In the Writer Guide v4.0, pp.257-260 and pp.284-286 there is information on
adding captions to graphics and tables respectively. There is no information on
subsequent editing or removal. The problem of caption removal for graphics is
especially difficult due to the caption paragraph, by default, being inserted
into a frame with the graphic.

I feel part of the problem here is that there is a user expectation to be able
to more simply alter caption details by right-clicking on the related object
(graphic or table) selecting Caption... and THEN be offered clearer options for
add / edit / delete. Currently the entire facility is centred on the task of
adding captions. Changing / improving the documentation will likely depend upon
enhancing this facility i.e., bug 67619.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71897] New: Format cell

  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: shahrizal.ka...@gmail.com

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello,

I have been using LibreOffice for two years now. My problem is mainly with
LibreOffice Calc. I am utilizing it mostly for account book keeping. As such, I
always have to format the cells by changing to my favorite fonts, number style
(using separator, decimal point etc.) or date format (in accordance with the
standard usage of my country i.e. dd/mm/).

However, the problem I always encounter with Calc is that whenever I re-open
any existing files which I have formatted as explained above the cells revert
to default values. This is quite stressful as I have to re-format the cells
repeatedly.

I wish my report here will get your utmost attention.

Thank you.

regards,
Shahrizal Kamal

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56613] High CPU usage for the Copy animation in Calc

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56613

Additional observations about the animation of the border around a selected
spreadsheet region after a copy:

A single row of ~12 cells produces a CPU load of 8-11%.
A single column of ~35 cells produces a load of 5-8%.
But the region 35 rows by 12 columns produces a load of 35-40%.

(Guess: some graphics layer is redrawing the whole rectangle contents at each
animation step, not just the border. [The perimeter of the whole region is
less than the sum of the perimeter of 1 row and the perimeter of 1 column. If
it was just drawing the perimeter, then the drawtime should be less than the
sum. But the region load is more than twice the sum of the row and column
loads.])

(Some bits of code that look like they could be related to the animated dashed
border:

ScOverlayDashedBorder in
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/source/ui/view/overlayobject.cxx
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/source/ui/inc/overlayobject.hxx

OverlayManager in
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/svx/source/sdr/overlay/overlaymanager.cxx

Hope this helps someone figure out a fix.)

Does this error still occur under the current version?

Not sure if it is a bug. LibreOffice and before OOo did that since the
beginning.
>From the point of view of text processor, you should prefer to define the size
of the image in the page, not in pixels but in cm.
Not sure too if the pixel/inch is a portable measure from paper to screen or
another support. Indeed each support has its own pixel size.

Set status back to unconfirmed.

Best regards. JBF

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56613] High CPU usage for the Copy animation in Calc

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56613

gekach...@yahoo.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW
 CC||gekach...@yahoo.com
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

On LibreOffice 4.1.3.2 running on WinXP sp3.

Steps to reproduce:

1. New Sheet (control-N)
2. Select All (control-A)
3. Copy (control-C)

Result:

CPU load goes up to maybe 35-40% (on an older laptop).

It especially occurs after control-A (select-all) copy selections,
even though no "racetrack" animation is visible in that case.
(No animated moving dashed line around selection, like marquee chase lights.)

The load is about the same after a 35-row by 12 column on-screen copy
selection.

Expect:

Very low CPU load (only for animation visible on screen, none if not visible).
(Load is near 0 for small copy selection animations around just a few cells.)

Other concerns:

>From a user's perspective it can seem a little mysterious because clicking in a
cell makes the shaded background selection go away, but the problem continues.
(Maybe because a thread continues drawing the invisible "racetrack" animation.)
A click in the input-line field will make it stop.

It is mildly annoying because it makes the fan louder. It also shortens
battery life. So after copying data from one spreadsheet to another, when a
user hears the fan running even though everything is idle, the user has to go
back and find which Calc window still has a selection and click in the input
line.

(I did not find an option to turn off this animation. If the purpose of the
high load is to make the user go back and do something to end the animation,
stop the thread, and save the energy, it seems like there should be less
annoying solutions, such as ending the animation after a period, just leave the
dashed line.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71842] headings stick together - Creating a new line result in unexpected empty space

2013-11-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71842

> Hm - well the original issue is showing up in every single one of my
> outlines (70+ pages), what I do is I first throw in all the
> headers/subheaders and then I fill in the gaps. But every time I push enter
> the headers jump pages.
>

The "Keep with next paragraph" setting (in the specific style you are using)
explains it all.

When you "fill in the gaps", you are inserting new paragraphs with new default
styles, so in that moment Writer is "able" to separate the 2 paragraphs (the
one above and the one below the new filled in gap) which, until that same
moment, were "forced" to be kept together.

This explains the initial jump to the second page too.

> Furthermore a real problem is that ctrl+z doesn't reverse the change which
> to me seems to most definitely be a bug

No, it is not. The "Keep with next paragraph" setting is part of the applied
style. There is no particular (individual) "Keep with next paragraph" step to
undo. So when you "undo", Writer is not returning back *that* step, but the
latest step (see the list in the "undo" and "redo" icons).

The described behavior is all just a consequence of the way you are working. I
would suggest one possible alternative (among many):
1_ use an extra [ENTER] between the soon-to-be headings;
2_ mark all as heading1 style;
3_ use "find and replace" with regex so to replace the current "heading1" style
of the [enter]-only paragraphs with the "default" style.
4_ fill in the gaps.

Of course, there are many alternative methods that would make your work-flow
less "traumatic".

In any case, I don't see a bug here. I am leaving this report open, but if you
agree with me, please close as NOTABUG.

Regards,
Ady.

the new nautilus doesn't have an open with "other" option and I can't for the
life of me figure out how to add an open with my soffice.bin from my master

of it our daily debian packages are broken (already known and being looked into
by Cloph) so I can't test that way.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71882] New: Requiring contributors to send a license statement to the "libreoffice" mailing list opens up phishing and spam opportunities

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 71882
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Requiring contributors to send a license statement to
the "libreoffice" mailing list opens up phishing and
spam opportunities
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: nekoh...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

In bug #33600 I was requested to send a license statement to libreoffice@

The problem is that doing so gets you a nice phishing email as a reply. Almost
fell for it.

Is there anything the LibreOffice project could do to protect against fraud
attempts like these?
