[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73044] New: Cursor vanishes with Google Input Tools, when languages is switched and ESC pressed.

2013-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73044

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 73044
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Cursor vanishes with Google Input Tools, when
languages is switched and ESC pressed.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: narayana...@outlook.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.1 rc
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

I am writing a multilingual document, and thus had to use the Google Input
Tools. This is how I came across this bug.

Steps to replicate:

A. SETTING UP (not part of the problem).
=
1. Install Google Input Tools. Install >= 2 languages.
2. Launch a new odt file (or edit an existing file- Does not matter).
3. Set keyboard shortcuts
I have set the shortcuts as follows:
   ALT+SHFT+1=Sanskrit,
ALT+SHFT+2=kannada,ALT+SHFT+3=Gujarati,ALT+SHFT+4=Hindi.
   ALT+SHFT+0= English
(I do not think the shortcuts are causing the issue, but just in case...)

B. TRIAL RUN (not part of the problem):
=
1. Change the language to a non-English language (e.g. Hindi).
2. Type a few letters (these appear in the Writer screen).
3. Press Enter, and the new text appears in the odt file. ---> This is OK.

C. ACTUAL PROBLEM
=
1. Again type some more text, but this time press ESC (not ENTER).
In response, the cursor vanishes. You cannot tell where you are.
If you type now, the new characters appear where the cursor was.

2. One trick is to press CTRL and roll the mouse wheel.
As soon as the zoom changes, the cursor re-appears.

If you repeat this exact experiment in MS Word, the problem is not there.
If you switch to English, the problem does not occur.

BTW I noticed a major difference between LO Writer and MS Word:
When I am typing in a non-English language, the text appears "live" in LO
Writer. But in MS Word, the text does not appear till I press ENTER.

This could be a key factor.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73045] New: image from clipboard cannot be pasted in Writer (URI format is wrong, with forward slash)

OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: narayana...@outlook.com

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.1 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I take screenshots using Greenshot.

I can paste the image from clipboard in Impress and Draw.
But if I paste the clipboard content into Writer, the image is missing: It
shows only a placeholder.

I traced the problem: The root cause is that the URI contains three FORWARD
slashes, not BACK-slashes as required in Windows.

Here is a sample URI: file:///C:Users\njaras\AppDataLocal\Temp\gfukOrcd.1lk.png

If I manually correct the slashes, the image gets inserted normally.

Steps to do this:
1. Double-clicking on the placeholder
2. A "Picture" window pops up. Click on its "Picture" tab.
3. In the "Link" section, the URI of the temporary file is listed.
4. Edit the URI and replace /// with \\\
5. Press OK. The image is inserted in the file now.

Conclusion: Both Impress and Draw create the URI correctly.
Please correct the URI format in Writer.

Update:

I simply deleted the protocol specifier part at the beginning (file:///).
This was sufficient to correct the problem.

That means the "file:///" is actually redundant, and can be removed altogether.
(There is no need to correct /// to \\\ at all.)

Actually, that’s not true. Search Wikipedia. It’s just that some
Spanish-speaking people wrongly refer to individual fonts or typefaces as
“tipografías” (and that includes some software translators).

This is not a bug. The scroll bar gets smaller as you scroll because more items
are being added in real time, just like the cells in Calc. When there’s a limit
and you reach it, then you can’t scroll further and the scrollbar doesn’t
shrink.

That should already be helpful info to narrow the bug down. Do I understand
correctly XLS works while XLSX fails with 4.2.0.1?

There's not really any alternative to manually going over the document and
clearing sensitive information. But if you keep trying to reproduce the bug
that should again help to narrow the place in the doc where the bug is deriving
from. Would be great if you coudl go through the doc little by little and see
how long the bug is reproducible.

TESTING on Ubuntu 12.04.3 with
LibreOffice Version: 4.2.0.1

(In reply to comment #0)
> Steps to reproduce:
> 1. Create a presentation ind LO 4.0

I'm going to assume that both of these files were created in 4.0:
* ba.odp
* ba_linux_k.odp

> 2. Switch to "Notes" view: no image shown

In Notes view, the first slide in each file has an image shown, but subsequent
slides do *not* have an image shown.

> 3. Open that file in LO 3.6

I closed these files in LO, then opened them in LO 3.5.7.

> 4. Switch to "Notes" view: image is there as expected

Nope. Same behavior as in LO 4.2.0.1: In Notes view, there's only a thumbnail
for the first slide.

If I create a new presentation, thumbnails appear for each slide in Notes view.

Perhaps there's something broken in these particular test documents?

Nineff - Can you still reproduce this problem in modern builds of LibreOffice?

This regression is still in Version: 4.1.4.2, Build ID:
0a0440ccc0227ad9829de5f46be37cfb6edcf72. For me it appears also in Version:
4.2.0.0.beta2, Build ID: 1a27be92e320f97c20d581a69ef1c8b99ea9885d. The problem
is not appearing in Apache OpenOffice.org (AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev.
1524958).

I have Ubuntu 13.04, 32 bit system with Mate desktop environment.

It is one of the worth regressions in writer module since I use StarOffice,
which means a bit more 10 years. I'm very suprised for passivity in solving or
at least investigating it, because it destroys basic function of text processor
and it is nearly impossible to use libreoffice writer in group work without
speding huge amount of work to restore cross-references.

It's very copmlicated not to give up to pressure of colleges and to switch to
another office suite, if I don't have any idea, when the situation will be
solved. At least now it looks like 4.2 also will have this regression.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73049] New: Calc constantly crashes on opening coplex ods spreadsheets with array functions

2013-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73049

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 73049
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Calc constantly crashes on opening coplex ods
spreadsheets with array functions
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: andis.lazd...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Libreoffice Calc module constantly crashes on opening particular complex ods
file containing array formulas.

Program version Libreoffice 4.1.4.2, Linux Ubuntu 13.04., 32 bit version.

The problematic file is available here
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxv4jQ_04jXZaVR2ZHZGR0JLVFE/edit?usp=sharing

Symptoms:

Try to open the file from file manager or the program Open dialogue. Process
starts, use of CPU reach 98 %, then use of memory grows to 2,3 GB or something
similar and after about 5 minutes program crashes. If started from terminal it
crashes with message
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
what():  std::bad_alloc

The problem is 100 % repeatable on this computer.

Libreoffice 4.2.0.0.beta2 can open file, but daverage () function do not shows
reasonable results. Apache OpenOffice.org 4.0.1 opens file easily, all formulas
and charts are in place and results are correct.

I have quite many such files, the most of them are much bigger, so I think it's
quite serious regression in Calc module.

HI Andis,

Can confirm this. Thanks.

Tested with 32 bits Ubuntu
4.1.3.2 and 4.2.0.rc1, and - by the way - 4.2.0beta2 show the same problem.

4.0.6.2 does open it (takes a while)
4.1.0. beta1 opens it fast
4.1.0. beta2 opens it slo
4.1.0. rc1 opens it slo
4.1.0. rc3 opens it slo

4.1.1 rc2 is the first one that fails for me.
I do not have 4.1.1.1 to test, but set to that version...

This is one of the worst Impress bugs for a long time. The crashes when working

I've just tried with the latest 4.1.5.0+. It just took me 10 seconds to make it
crash. Just a new presentation, insert a table as default, and starting to fill
it randomly...

But with 4.2.0 RC1, I've played 1 min with tables... and no crash

I just did exactly as requested with 4.1.3.2 and was unable to reproduce on
ubuntu 13.10.

If it's fixed on 4.2 then it was likely "accidentally" fixed - a bibisect may
be useful

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/HowToBibisect

You'll have to use the 2013-11-25 package that is listed on that wiki.

Foss, yep you had it correct, fails with 4.2.0.1 but the xls succeeds.
Spent some time picking through the file and tracked it down to a certain
sheet, then a few formula. I was able to make a replica workbook that
reproduces the bug (attached).

Also noting that the formula in question needed to be an array formula
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/introducing-array-formulas-in-excel-HA001087290.aspx).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73056] New: Non-global Table Row Margins of MS WORD 97-2003 DOC are only implemented for 1st Cell of Row.

2013-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73056

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 73056
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Non-global Table Row Margins of MS WORD 97-2003 DOC
are only implemented for 1st Cell of Row.
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: jeroen.henne...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 91207
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=91207&action=edit
MS WORD 97-2003 DOC with 3-column table

Windows XP - MS Office 2007
Subject:
MS WORD 97-2003 DOC has a 3-column table with global cell margins, configured
in Table Properties->Table tab->Options. Some rows of this table have
non-global cell margins, configured in Table->Cell->Options->uncheck "Equal to
whole table".

Bug:
LibreOffice only copies the first cell margins of the "non-global" rows. The
2nd and 3d cell get the global cell margins instead of the (smaller) non-global
cell margins.

Example DOC:
Table with global cell margins above, below, left, right = 0,15 0,45 0,15 0,15
cm.
Table header = 0,1 0,1 0,15 0,15 cm.
Other single line rows are 0,15 0,15 0,15 0,15 cm.
In LibreOffice all rows show as 0,15 0,45 0,15 0,15 cm, because the margins of
the 2nd and 3d cells of the non-global rows are not correctly implemented by
LibreOffice. (Select the whole cell to check cell 1, 2, 3)

Open attached DOC with LibreOffice Writer and examine table starting at page 2.

Hi Diego,
translation wasn't the matter, the question was about to know exactly what are
you talking about.

In my opinion, a spreadsheet it isn't the proper tool for a work with a such
amount of data, better I think with a database tool.

E.g. every time you change the font for more than 11 million of cells, calc
needs to recalculate the high for every changed cell to set up the high for the
row.

If you keep undo steps for more than 0, all this changes needs to be kept, to
make possible the undo.

If you want to do it with calc, IMHO then you need reduce any special formats
as much as possible.

1- There are two OLE objects, that seems they are there by error. To locate it,
use Menu/View/Navigator [F5]
2- Reduce or better avoid the formats specially in long data table, and more
specially the direct formats.
3- Use default format as much as possible, you can change it,
Menu/Format/Styles&Formatting [F11]
4- Take care of the style's use, hierarchically sorted, you can change the font
in default style, or in a hierarchy style level. Making much easier to maintain
the formatting.
5- Delete conditional formatting if you can, or reduce it to a not large
ranges.
6- Put every data table in their sheet.
7- Let formats for when you have finished the work, save a lot of work hours,
and it makes easy find when the problems appear.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65006] : update graphics when outside source value(s)

2013-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65006

dear all,

I'm using L.O. 4.1.4 and the bug is always here. Same description as bug 45839
present in L.O. 3.4.x .

I try to improve my description.

* Problem description:
no update the values in the chart

* Steps to reproduce:
1. in a calc file, have graphic from calculation with some "source" values in
another clac file, close the files,
2. change the values located in the other file, close the file,
3. open the file with graphic, only the calculation is updated, not the
graphic,

* Current behavior:
no update of the chart when open the file and accept the update with values of
other files

* Expected behavior:
update the chart directly when open the file, was ok with OOo 3.3 and LO 3.5.0,

another way to explain the bug :
1) a + b = c, c is used in a graphic, b in another in another file.
2) change b
3) open the file with graphic, c is updated, the graphic not.
