[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73204] Disconnection of drawings in WRITER

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73204

Surbun, I asked the question about daily builds of 4.2 for Linux in QA mailing
list:
http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Libreoffice-qa-Daily-builds-of-LibreOffice-4-2-for-Linux-td4094358.html
It seems the only way is building yourself.

But Caolán McNamara's patches (both for bug 73355 and bug 73814) have been
pushed to master too. So, you can test them there.

Hello,

In the list of data types, when we want to create a field in a table with the
table editor, there is not DECIMAL or NUMERIC (data types that exist in
Firebird SQL Server 2.5).

Is this an omission or is this intentional?

Nice, it seems that someone has worked on this, since the result is different
in LibreOffice 4.1.4.2.
Unfortunately, things got worse now, as you can see in the new screenshot.
I've also included the PPT slide that served as a basis for the screenshot.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74173] New: RTF: images shown as empty misaligned frames on re-open of document

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74173

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74173
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: RTF: images shown as empty misaligned frames on
re-open of document
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: simon.marsh...@misys.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 92983
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=92983&action=edit
RTF with images shown as empty misaligned frames

i created an RTF document with images and captions with my daughter with 4.1.3.
everything was displayed correctly. (i don't know if it's relevant, but i had
to use the paste/bitmap workaround mentioned in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55735#c5 to paste some of the
images in, to avoid making writer slow and unusable.)
however, on re-opening the document several days later, the images were shown
as empty frames and without some of their alignment/positioning/etc.
exporting the document as PDF resulted in a PDF that looked exactly like the
RTF.

i tried upgrading to 4.1.4 to see if that version would open the RTF ok, but it
did not.

to see the problem: open the attached RTF.
- images are shown as empty frames
- one frame on p1 spans onto p2
- all frames have lost their alignment (which was to the left or right of the
paragraph in which they were inserted)

i've also attached the PDF.

when i originally came across the problem, i saved the document as an ODT to
see if that would solve it. with 4.1.3, i was then unable to open the ODT
(Writer gave an error). however, i can open the ODT with 4.1.4, although the
images are shown as for the RTF.

Yes, this is something really needed as there is almost no program available
that can read/convert this format in Windows / Linux platforms.

There is already support for rudimentary reading of Keynote documents with
libetonyek library so it might make sense (assuming the formats have similar
structure) to either extend this library or make a new one using libetonyek as
base.

As we generally need to reverse engineer the format it would be helpful to
attach simple example documents made with iWork Pages for those who want to
look at the format and don't have access to OSX (for example a simple document
with one or two paragraphs, a table and a picture would be a good start).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74177] New: EDITING TABLE: using comments on cells is incompatible with formulas

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74177

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74177
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING TABLE: using comments on cells is incompatible
with formulas
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: Inherited From OOo
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 92992
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=92992&action=edit
bugdoc

Inserting a comment to a table cell with a manually written number makes that
number inaccessible to formulas that refer to that cell.
Inserting a comment to a cell with a formula freezes the displayed value of
that cell, while the underlying formula is still evaluated properly, which can
be observed in other formulas that refer to that cell.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new text document, add a table 3x3.
2. In the first column (A), insert values 1, 2, 3.
3. In columns B and C, insert formulas that refer to the neighbour left cell.
E.g., insert into a formula like this: =(+1)*2, and copy the cell to
other cells of the two columns.

Now the table has these numbers:
1 4 10
2 6 14
3 8 18

4. Put caret into cell, press Ctrl+Alt+C to insert a comment; put some
text to the comment.
5. Tools->Update->Update All
6. Put caret into cell, press Ctrl+Alt+C to insert a comment; put some
text to the comment.
7. Go to cell and change its contents to 4.

Expected results:
After step 5, the table must still look like this:
1 4 10
2 6 14
3 8 18
After step 7, the table must become like this:
1 4 10
2 6 14
4 10 22

Actual results:
After step 5, the table becomes this:
1 4 10
2 2 6
3 8 18
After step 7, the table becomes this:
1 4 10
2 2 6
4 8 22

The second row shows that the cell A2 is no longer considered to hold a number
(although the number is indeed displayed in the cell). The result of the
formula in is as if hold 0.
The third row shows that the shows incorrect outdated value (that was
actual at the time the comment was inserted), but the formula in that cell is
still active, and gives correct (invisible) result that is used by .

The problem persists after updating, and after save/close/reopen.

The impact is that it is impossible to use comments on tables. Using them may
give unnoticed wrong results that are tricky to track down, especially in
complex big tables, where one may not notice that come cells change (or don't
change) as they should.
While it could be considered an enhancement request (on grounds that this will
just broaden the comments feature to support new usage scenario), I think that
this is actually a rather severe bug:
Using comments on individual cells seems natural, especially in complex tables,
where those comments could help to clarify/remind what is contained/counted.
Even if using comments on tables with formulas is not permitted at the moment,
this should be noted in the documentation, as well as measures must be taken to
prevent undesired behaviour, e.g. by disabling comments in tables, or
displaying proper notifications when either a comment is inserted into cell
with formula/referenced by formula, or a formula is created that references a
commented cell.
For now, the behaviour is inconsistent and is not what one would expect, causes
difficult-to-notice (but probably severe) errors in data in professional
documents.

This problem is inherited from OOo, is already reproducible with OOo 3.3.0.
Reproducible with 4.1.4.2 under Ubuntu 13.10 x64, and 4.2.0.3 under Win7x64.

Attached is a test document with a table before inserting comments, and another
with comments inserted and modified, to reproduce the problem.

What I see in LibO 4.2.0.3 on Win7, when pasting in Writer as RTF a Calc range
with merged cells :
- the merging is correctly pasted, into a Writer table
- but the borders are not copied (no matter what border I set in Calc, the
copied table in Writer always show no borders).

  Reporter: gbert...@yahoo.it
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

I open with Impress a ppt file which contain a table linked to an excel sheet.
I can see correctly the table on the screen but if I try to print or export it
as PDF it loose data in the table.
The table is managed in LO like an image (the link is lost) but since we use a
lot of presentation to show company data on momthly basis it is impossible to
print any reliable data.
Tested on Windows 7 PRO sp1 32bit and Windows Enterprise 64bit.LO version
4.0.4.2 ;4.1.0.4 ;4.1.4.2;4.1.3.2;4.1.1.2
Test with Debian stable (LO 3.5) print and export are OK.
Same behaviour if we save the file as ODP.

Renaming an executable file to a binary file format and try to manipulate it as
it's a odf file is not the way to convert an exe file to pdf. This is not a bug
on the LibreOffice side or there is something I didn't understand, and so
provide the original file and reopen. Closing as not a bug - Sophie

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74147] PRINTING: Paper format malfunction when printing

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74147

I had an old experience of something similar with Excel :
- in a given project I worked on, some Excel authors used to fill a whole sheet
(all cells) with a blank color for cells (to make the grid disappear) before
typing their effective cells,
- when printed (I suppose with a 1x1 page forced), it resulted to the same
symptom than below.

When I load your sample with LibO 4.2.0.3 on Win7 and ask for a preview, I have
the Sample word truncated to the right, as if there was a blank-filled cell in
front.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I think you have an issue with the way you structure the Table of Content.
When I edit the Index and go under the Entries (Entrées in French), on level 2,
the structure shows Chapter Number Tab Entry Tab Page Number (with hyperlink
from the beginning to the end). You have an extra Tab in your structure. So the
changed Table of content styles in the Styles and Formatting window are applied
but still the structure of the table takes the precedence.
Remove the extra tabulation you have under level 2, 3, etc structure and you
will get what you want. If you need help setting your Table of content, please
join our us...@fr.libreoffice.org mailing list. Closing as works for me. Sophie

I can reproduce the problem with Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 160db96a882a2be8c3307e8a04beda4ae93a13c4 on Windows 7.

The glue points are written to the file, but get lost on opening. It seems to
be a problem with svg-pictures. LO writes them in the order first svg, then png
into the file; AOO writes them in the order first png, then svg into the file.
When I open the file written by LO, then the glue points are lost, opening in
LO and in AOO as well. When I open the file written by AOO, then the glue
points are correct, opening in LO and in AOO as well.

I have used AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1554205 for comparison.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73829] FORMATTING: Resizing text box in Impress causes box to move on first click

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73829

I don't manage to reproduce the problem, with LibO 4.2.0.3 on Win7.

If I click on the text, I get a blinking edit text cursor after the text, and
no blue handles light up. If I click on the text box but not on the text, I get
the handles.

I noticed in recent LibO versions a growing number of case where the display is
updated within a perceptible delay (more than 1 second). So I supposed that the
initial action of the drag&drop is processed by multiple threads, one very
reactive catching the pointer position and resulting in a "move" decision, and
another less reactive catching the new pointer position and updating the
display to "resize" shape (or something like that ; the LibO delelopers will
know...).

Anycase, this is a bug.

It would be interesting to look for a correlation with the computer overall
workload (for instance detecting more frequent cases like the current one when
LibO is used through CITRIX).

information is also coming.

Is it due to some memory leakage or less memory during conversion process of

Platform is Windows x64

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74189] New: Libre Office hangs on converting large number of files to PDF

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74189

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74189
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Libre Office hangs on converting large number of files
to PDF
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: j.vik...@samsung.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello All,

I am trying to convert 50 or more MS documents to PDF using Libre Office SDK.
Application is calling the storeToURL every thime for conversion of MS Document
to PDF, but during conversion of document around 36th, Libre Office hangs on
API 'storeToURL'.

Why is this so, do i need to call any API to release memory or something. Why
is it hanging. Control does not come back to application.

Regards
Vikram

I confirm the bug on LibO 4.2.0.3 rc on Win7.

The key point to reproduce the bug is to have the formula box bit wide enough
so that the content is wrapped to 3 lines at minimum, in the formula box
expanded by the "Expand Formula Bar" arrow.

Could you attach an example here? I haven't heard about such a behavior before.

Or, if there are data, which you couldn't delete before, you could send the
database directly to me, so I will have a look. Maybe the query for the listbox
and the connected field don't match together.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74191] New: Other: Some UI Icons are very non-contrasting and hard-readable in Windows 7 Basic Theme (Personalization)

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74191

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74191
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: Some UI Icons are very non-contrasting and
hard-readable in Windows 7 Basic Theme
(Personalization)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: t...@vp.pl
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
Bug probably appeared in earlier LibO versions too.
Some UI Icons are white on white ( Bold, Wyrównanie) or light-gray on white
(Cut, Undo,Redo) in Windows 7 Basic Theme

So they are very non-contrasting and hard-readable.

There was Windows 7 Basic - based theme used before, after changing to exact
Windows 7 Basic, problem persists.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization"
Select "Windows 7 Basic"
2. run eg. Writer

Current behavior:
Some UI Icons are are very non-contrasting and hard-readable.

Expected behavior:

Simpliest?? - Icon Image and Icon Background and colour should
be exchanged.
Contrast, when low, should be strenghted.
So UI should be contrast-aware.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.4.2 release

I wrote for bug 73829 :

IMHO the problems described here and in bug 73474 come from the same origin
than above:
- just change "drag&drop a rectangle handle" with "scroll pages" (one thread is
N pages in advance to another...)
- the load factor are the displaying of a large document and the image
processing,
- see also the bug 73118 comment 6 on a behavior specific to a slow
manipulation.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73629] LibreOffice is not opening doc file with numbered list right

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73629

As far as I see :

WORD :
- use of the component style "Listparagraph"
- but many use of direct formating in the text
- I tried to get rid of the direct formatting (select then CTRL-Q then
CTRL-blank)

The .doc initial document opened within Lib0 4.2.0.3 rc on Win7 :
- use of the component style "Listparagraph"
- still many use of direct formating in the text : I confirm the observed
result

Without any direct formating anywhere (initial .doc with a CTRL-M in LibO, and
reworked .doc), the only difference is the presence/absence of numbering (no
conclusion because Word is known buggy on lists).

LibO is fully OK on the initial doc (the lay-out is coherent with the paragraph
settings) :
- select all,
- Format/Paragraph/Indent&Spacing/LineSpacing : set to "simple" : all become OK

My conclusion is : WORD's weak area, that LibO has trouble to follow...

@s...@mailinator.com - one really simple thing you can do to help us narrow
down is figure out exactly what version the bug came into the code.

To do this:

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

Just go through and download/install/test. Let us know at what point it breaks.
Apparently it is between 3.3.4 & 3.4.6 (test pre-releases and releases). This
way we can at least get a smaller chunk of code to investigate

- one can swith to A3 (or Web Layout ; or User Page Size up to 3 meters x 3
meters), enlarge an image and return to original page settings : the image
shrinks but it may have allowed you to crop precisely
- the "crop" tab of image property allows to set width and height, but only up
to page size

I also dreamt of a world without visible limitations ; I doubdt.
To summarize, I found nothing better than :
If you need very large images, put it in very large pages...

Not a bug. Status kept at UNCONFIRMED to get other opinions.

look like you are using the hi-contrast theme (tools/options/view/icon style)
do you know you can change themes?

Same stacktrace badfully.
I put it at New since we've got a stacktrace.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74163] Trendline equation should be shown ONLY for XY charts

2014-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74163

@mariosv: May I try to be a little bit clearer.

Trendline equation is non-sense for no "XY (scatter)" chart.
I mean for "Column", "Bar", "Area", "Line" and "Column and Line" charts
(trendline is not available for "Pie", "Bubble", "Net" and "Stock") the
equation does not consider the value of the "x" values because they are read as
Categories. The equation consider that first categories has a value of 1,
second a value of 2, and so on, whatever its "real" value is, because
Categories can also be simple text. So the equation is not significant with
these types.

Lets take an example which corresponds to a common error of beginner:
1. Enter Data such as X=1, 10, 100 and Y=11, 12, 13
2. Create a *XY* (scatter) chart
3. Insert trendline and show equation
=> f(x) = 0.0165165165x + 11.39
With same data:
4. Create a *Line* chart with "First column as label" selected on 2nd step
5. Insert linear trendline and show equation
=> f(x) = 1x + 10

User may think that the equation in the Line chart is valid which is obviously
wrong.

Article about nonsense trendlines for chart with caterogical X-variables (§3
p194)

In this article, with hard criticism against Excel trend lines, authors
underline the nonsense of trend line equation with chart having categorical
X-variables: chapter 3 on page 194.

Authors ask to remove "Add trendline" command for such charts. However, it may
be useful to show the trend line, but the equation itself is not significant.
