[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75830] Writer lacks the possibility for choosing individual colors.

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75830

--- Comment #4 from a07cd040897db54e1...@spambog.com ---
OK. Didn't know that. That helps me out of the biggest troubles.

Nevertheless, i feel, application wide predefining fixed colors, and then being
restricted to those during your work is non-intuitive and not userfriendly.
There should be a possibility *in* *every* *certain* *usecase* (dealing with
colors) to individually choose a custom color.

I think, adding a pseudo color named "UserDefined", that (if selected) opens a
dialog for entering RGB or YMCK (or choosing from color wheel) could achieve
this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75492] FILEOPEN DATALOSS ODT Silent corruption of formulas in TABLE

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Mike Kaganski changed:

   What|Removed |Added

   Severity|major |critical
   Priority|medium |high
 CC||bjoern.michaelsen@canonical
   ||.com

Ok, I revert severity to high values, because the problem is not caused by a
corruption in document.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new empty text document.
2. Add first table, having at least two columns (for simplicity, let it be
2x1).
3. Add second table 1x1.
4. Add third table 1x1.
5. Rename first table (menu Table->Table properties->Table->Name) to "Table20".
6. Make sure that second table has name "Table2".
7. Add formula to last table (): "=Table20.B1"

Leave the cell, and it becomes ** Expression is faulty **.

Important parts here:
1. The name of reference table must begin with name of another, that goes AFTER
it.
2. Reference cells are from cols other than A.

Björn, I suddenly see that you are not in CC list. I add you, so that you don't
miss the info. Please excuse me if this is a wrong thing to do.

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75873

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 75873
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: : EDITING freezes screen and crashes system
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: andypand...@gmail.com
  Hardware: PowerPC
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 95283
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=95283&action=edit
My resume. This was originally a docx doc, which keep freezing, so I saved it
as an .odt--which keeps freezing.

When editing/reformatting a short (e.g., 1-5 pp) document formatted in native
LO, .doc, .docx, .rtf, AND .abw, the screen and document and the system all
lock up when I try and save the file. I have noticed that this generally
happens after several text changes and saves. Note that, apart from bullet
images there are no images in these files (and this problem happens in docs
without ANY images).
I also see (based on previous bug reports) that this bug is historic--and has
still not been cleared.
This also happens, BTW, with the Calc program.

Confirmed on:

but it looks fine in

Still worth marking as NEW and making sure that the commit gets backported as
we don't want managing ranges to cause crashes in 4.2 until 4.3 is released.

If 4.2.2.x release shows it to be fixed, please come back and mark as
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME so we know it's been fixed in 4.2 branch.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75492] FILEOPEN DATALOSS ODT Silent corruption of formulas in TABLE

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75492

Created attachment 95282
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=95282&action=edit
Bugdoc simplified to minimum

I have simplified this further. Specifically, I opened it as ZIP, removed
styles.xml and settings.xml; extracted content.xml, opened it with text editor
and removed styles and variables sections, so that only text is left.

Everything looks OK; no corrupt tables; yet problem still there!

I think I may be misunderstanding this one.
I opened the file,
went to master view,
went to slide 1,
highlighted title,
did drop down for font color
selected yellow
opened styles dialog
right clicked on "title"
went to "font effects" tab

Everything matched up. Am I missing something?

Tested on:
Ubuntu 13.10 +
Windows 8.1

Please reset your user profile - I can confirm on the file you provided but
cannot confirm on a new document.

Marking as WFM since I cannot reproduce from fresh steps provided. Something is
strange about that document you provided.

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

If resetting your profile does not work - please COMPLETELY purge LibreOffice
and then reinstall - preferably from a PPA/repository but if not just install
from our site but again, make sure libreoffice is 100% purged, and you are
using a fresh profile.

If all of this fails set it back to UNCONFIRMED and we'll see what else we can
try. Thanks!

Björn, thank you for your interest,

> Indeed the document seems to be corrupt altogether in some kind of way:
> table "Таблица16" is listed in the navigator, but cannot be deleted.
This specific table isn't corrupt: it is a table in a page footer, that has
some locked cells, that may be unlocked and then the table may be deleted.

(In reply to comment #4)
I attach the requested basic document. It is reduced to three tables with
minimum of cells, last of them is seemingly not related to the first two, but
removing it makes the bug disappear. The problematic formula has been
simplified to just "=", all fields removed, etc.

I don't know if this table is corrupt. Please adjust the severity in case it's
not a corruption but an internal LO problem (taking into account that the
problem only started to appear lately).

Setting status back to NEW as I have provided the requested info & the bug is
already confirmed.

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)

Status: UNCONFIRMED

The odt file to demo this problem.

Problem description:
I have a odt file created by earlier Libreoffice version before 4.2.
The odt file has rectangles with black frame.
But the black frame became "blue frame" in Libreoffice 4.2.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the attachment" wrong_rectangle_color2.odt"
2. Open "wrong_rectangle_color2.odt" with Libreoffice 4.1 or any earlier
version, you will see a rectangle with black frame.
3. Open "wrong_rectangle_color2.odt" with Libreoffice 4.2, you will see a
rectangle with blue frame.

Current behavior:
Libreoffice 4.2 show the rectangle frame as blue.

Expected behavior:
Libreoffice 4.2 should show the rectangle frame as black.

Operating System: Debian
Version: 4.2.0.4 release
Last worked in: 4.1.5.3 release

the patch and doing the required testing to get it into 4.2 branch. As it's
working in 4.3 we should be good to go.

has reached EOL and a lot has changed since that branch ended. If you still
experience the problem on 4.2 branch set the bug to UNCONFIRMED and we will
test again.

*Note: 4.2 branch is currently our "fresh" release and has some regressions
still. 4.1 is recommended for production use machines. I suspect the bug isn't

Indeed - I would call this an enhancement request since it seems to work as it
was designed (but it should be changed)

Thank you for reporting this enhancement request! I can confirm that this is a
valid enhancement request on:
Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 84862db95a5e22b9ef89baa2a8a5deeffefbdef6
Date: Tue Feb 25 19:58:48 2014 +0100

Enhancement
High - this would make the border styles button behave the same as every other
similar button (highlight, font color, background color) which seems to be
ideal.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 31481] [RFE] Split pane in same window for side-by-side proof reading/ translating of 2 different files

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31481

--- Comment #40 from bugquestcon...@online.de ---
Triggered by an AskLibO question:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/30795/how-to-do-side-by-side-editing-of-2-different-files-in-writer/
I read through the long thread and would like to summarize a bit

1 - Splitting 1 window to view 1 document:

In Calc you can split the window into 2 to look at different vertical parts of
the sheet the same time. In Writer you cannot.

Thus enabling a look at to different vertical parts of a Writer document would
be a very helpful function. => enhancement 1

As far as I remember EXCEL you can look not only at different vertical parts in
the split window, but you can also scroll each split window separately in
horizontal direction. Such a feature for Calc would be a very helpful one to
work on complex spreadsheets. => enhancement 2

2- Splitting 1 window to view 2 documents

This is what Nelson asked for in 2010! He asked only for Writer.

2 Writer documents should be open beside each other. Each document has the
same width automatically.
Default: For both documents the top part is to be seen and scrolling should
move both documents in the same steps down or up.
Next feature: Scroll both documents separately
Next feature: Lock the vertical position of both documents to each other and
scroll both document in the same steps down or up.
If there are notes attached to one or both documents there visibility and
accessibility should be selectable. Visibility on the right side of each
documents or at the bottom with a clear indication on where in the visible text
the notes are.
=> enhancement 3

This is an excellent feature in Word which I do miss in Writer. It allows an
excellent comparison and editing of 2 different documents.

2 Calc files should open beside each other with the same functionality as in
Writer but not only in vertical but also in horizontal direction.
=> enhancement 4

This seems to me to be the case with highest complexity. I don't recall how
Excel can deal with this. Too long time ago

My personal opinion on the priorities of the enhancements:

Prio 1 = enhancement 3 (2 Witer docs side by side in 1 window)
Prio 2 = enhancement 1 (vertical splitting of 1 Writer window) I could imagine
that this is automatically included in enhancement 3
Prio 3 = enhancement 2 (1 Calc document in 1 window vertical and horizontal
splitting with independent scrolling in each "sub window")
Prio 4 = enhancement 4 (2 Calc files side by side in 1 window with independent
scrolling of each "sub-window"

I am aware that the rule is 1 request per entry here and I agree to that. The
discussion just led to the 4 enhancement requests I tried to summarize.

I fully understand and appreciate if someone with enough inside into the
development channels splits the 4 enhancement requests up. However a link
between all 4 would be great. I don't have enough expertise and inside to do it
myself.

I would be nice if someone who understands the Writer related requests and
access to Word could add some screen shots to illustrate the situation.

I hope this clarifies a the long discussion and we get development manpower to
tackle these features.

As a side note it seems like these instructions do not work:

just doing it wrong.

Either way being able to easily change point color would be useful - no reason
not to include it in "format line" and not lock out the color picker there.

Deinstalled LO V 4.2.1.1

Installed old version 4.1.4.2

Reinstalled 4.2.1.1 over 4.1.4.2

confirm in Ifranview but do not see it in other software so it's their bug
please report it with them.

As for "no interest" - we are all volunteers dedicating a lot of time to dig
through thousands of bugs, a couple weeks passing without a comment is not
enough to think there is "no interest." That being said - thanks for reporting
and I hope you find the help you need over on their side.

provide all the details we usually require for bug reports. We'd hate to give
the impression to new triagers that experienced bug reporters/triagers don't
report bugs with reproducible steps, expected result, observed result and
appropriate attachments.

Marking as NEEDINFO - UNCONFIRMED once requested information is provided.

Also if this is a new problem would be nice information

Hi panoworks,

I think, a reference to other cell always gets the cell value either text or
number, at much their actual format of visualization.

For me not a bug, you can convert it in a request for enhancement, but seems
difficult to me it can be implemented.

Maybe would be easy find some workaround, perhaps someone can help in:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questions/

Changed to Resolved Notabug.

If you want set up the request for enhancement, please reopen the bug and
change the status from minor to enhancement.

Confirmed:
Windows 8
LibreOffice 4.2.1.1

Also confirmed:
Not an issue in Ubuntu 13.10 w/ same release of LibreOffice

Marking as:
New
Normal - I guess can prevent high quality work - I'm not positive on that
though
High - as it's been said that this is a regression bumping it up to High

Regression - based on nice bug report from Walid I am marking as regression

@Walid - thanks for the detailed bug report. If you have the time and can test
other versions of 4.2+ it'd be nice to figure out where the bug was introduced.

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

I would suggest testing from the first 4.2.0 - and then update the version to
reflect the oldest version you can confirm the bug on.

Thanks!

Hi panoworks, thanks for reporting.

I think it's not possible use HYPERLINK() in that way.
Help have:
"
HYPERLINK
When you click a cell that contains the HYPERLINK function, the hyperlink
opens.
"

On other hand, if FALSE is not defined as range name, the function is FALSE().

If you want a workaround, a second hyperlink with a referencing the proper cell
where the hyperlink is, does nothing:

=IF(FALSE();HYPERLINK("http://freedesktop.org/";"freedesktop.org";);HYPERLINK("#"&CELL("address");"this
should not be a link"))

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 36772] UI: Sheet tabs appear too small because LibreOffice has problems with certain themes or does not force a minimim hight for tabs

2014-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Here's a new mockup, one which fits the Tango aesthetic more and carries across
its function (tabs) better, though would probably be harder to implement:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/7/73/Calctabs.png .
Alternatively, we could go for a copy of Gnome's new tabs, which fit in with
our icons as well.

(As per our UX guidelines, non-natively themed elements should be styled based
on the icon set.)

Using Win 7 pro (Version 6.1 build 7601: SP1) with latest patches
Hdwre: i-7 8-core 16gb with 2-4 cores "free" CPU load in the low single digits
LO v4.2.1.1
LO load on system startup disabled
Default Options settings (memory, etc.)
After launch of calc
click on file
Wait 32 seconds! for File menu drop-down to appear.
Once loaded into memory, the other menus all appear in a timely fashion
Go to options
change the
Graphics cash from 20 to 120 mb
memory per object from 5.2 to 20mb
check the Load LibreOffice during system startup checkbox
Now the delay goes from 32 seconds to 8 seconds on first attempt
Exit out of calc and restart calc. The initial opening now takes 2 seconds
because something is staying in memory. Slow, but somewhat workable. Once
loaded, hover over any of the pulldowns is very fast and snappy. The problem is
with the initial load and some related memory management issues
This is a regression as the previous version that I used 4.1.4 worked fine with
NO mods (all defaults)
