[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76187] New: UI: Many missing / wrong paper sizes in the Print Preview
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76187 Priority: medium Bug ID: 76187 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: UI: Many missing / wrong paper sizes in the Print Preview Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: stgohi-lob...@yahoo.de Hardware: Other Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.1.1 release Component: UI Product: LibreOffice See also Bug 76143 and 76144 Problem Description: Many missing / wrong paper sizes in the Print Preview. This seems to be mixed up and needs a revision. Because of the many (from my point of view) mistakes this bug report is unfortunately very long. 1. Go to FORMAT - PAGE - tab PAGE 2. Change the Paper Size to 16 Kai and press OK Interim Result: I am not sure if it shows the correct width (18.40 cm or 18.50 cm)? Can anybody else clarify this issue? 3. Go to FILE - PRINT Interim Result: The left section does not show the paper size 16 Kai but wrongly Executive at the top and it also does not show the correct height and width (184mm x 267mm instead of 185 (?) mm x 260 mm). 4. Go to FORMAT - PAGE - tab PAGE 5. Change the Paper Size to 32 Kai and press OK Interim Result: I am not sure if it shows the correct height (18.40 cm or 18.50 cm)? Can anybody else clarify this issue? 6. Go to FILE - PRINT Interim Result: The left section does not show the paper size 32 Kai at the top and it also does not show the correct height and width (149mm x 210mm instead of 130 mm x 185 (?) mm). 7. Go to FORMAT - PAGE - tab PAGE 8. Change the Paper Size to Big 32 Kai and press OK Interim Result: It shows the correct height and width. 9. Go to FILE - PRINT Interim Result: The left section does not show the paper size Big 32 Kai at the top and it also does not show the correct height and width (149mm x 210mm instead of 140 mm x 203 mm). 10. Go to FORMAT - PAGE - tab PAGE 11. Change the Paper Size to DL Envelope and press OK Interim Result: It shows the correct height and width. 12. Go to FILE - PRINT Interim Result: The left section does not show the paper size DL Envelope at the top and it also does not show the correct height and width (149mm x 210mm instead of 110 mm x 220 mm). Note: I stop at this point, because the bug report gets to long. I will test the other paper sizes later. Expected Behavior: The Print Preview should show the (correct) paper size data. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Furthermore, the print preview is quite slow, because it takes a few moments until the print preview is shown. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open WRITER 2. Go to FILE - PRINT Interim Result: The dialog opens and in the left section you see the print preview, but it takes (even for an empty page) a few moments until it is shown. 3. Go with the mouse pointer to for instance the left border of the dialog and now extent the dialog and take a look at the print preview Result: The print preview hangs up with apparently two (three for moving the top or bottom border) pages on top of each other. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76093 --- Comment #2 from m.a.riosv mari...@miguelangel.mobi --- Then maybe the bug is in the help, no hash reference: https://help.libreoffice.org/scalc/SC_HID_FUNC_INFO?Language=en-USSystem=WINVersion=4.2#bm_id5369426 Forgive me, but I think the functions are there to be used by the final users of calc, and if possible make easier their life. I can't image what a user can do with the hash, and I don't see a developer going to calc and using this function to know it. It could be very useful if it gives a manageable value, so you can know in which program you are working on with the spreadsheet, at least how is defined in the help. This lets for example set up some cells with a right content to make the spreadsheet more independent from app in which is running, like set up in a cell the wildcards to use, not equal in all apps; inform the user about some incompatibility with the version, no possible to run in this version, etc. I think Basic is not a true solution because it isn't compatible with other apps. Sorry, but I can't figure e.g. the hash instead the version in download page? If the agreement is won't fix, it's fine, I have renounce to use this function time ago, what it's not fine, but please don't resolve as not a bug, what IMO it isn't. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

In this case, .T1 maps to single CSS attribute: .T1 { font-weight:bold; } In a longer version of the same document (i.e. including more text from the same original document) you get more complex classes: .T1 { font-size:10pt; font-weight:bold; } .T13 { font-style:italic; } .T14 { font-style:italic; } .T15 { font-style:italic; } .T16 { font-style:italic; text-decoration:underline; } .T17 { font-style:italic; text-decoration:underline; } .T18 { font-style:italic; } .T19 { font-style:italic; font-weight:bold; } .T20 { font-style:italic; font-weight:bold; } .T21 { font-style:italic; font-weight:bold; } .T22 { font-style:italic; font-weight:bold; } .T26 { padding:0in; border-style:none; } .T27 { text-decoration:underline; } .T28 { text-decoration:underline; padding:0in; border-style:none; } .T29 { font-style:italic; text-decoration:underline; } This is both unreadable and hard to parse. Moreover, if I take exactly the same document and add some text, then all these classes change! Also note the strange duplication of classes that do exactly the same thing (.T13,.T14,.T15,.T18) In my application, what I need to do is extract the text, preserving simple formatting such as p, b, i, and (deprecated) strike in order to paste this content into another xml document. This is do-able using the exported xhtml, but extremely onerous; since, for example, it will require at least 2 passes through a parser: first to add the simple xhtml tags I want (b, i) that weren't included in the first place, then another pass to strip out all the remaining classes and other xhmtl coding that I don't want. I can't fathom why KISS isn't being applied here: use basic xhtml tags whenever possible in order to keep the output readable and sane. I've written a fair amount of XML parsing code myself, so do know something about it. I can't help but think this is an example of incredibly lazy programming (unless I'm missing something). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
