[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77303] New: LibreOffice starts frozen when creating untitled document from commandline

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77303

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 77303
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: LibreOffice starts frozen when creating untitled
document from commandline
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: m...@nightrealms.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: NEW
   Version: 4.2.3.2 rc
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

If I try to create a new, untitled writer document or web document from the
command line with "libreoffice --writer" or "libreoffice --web" the splash
screen works fine, and the window menu bar and window decorations come up, but
nothing else does, and it gets frozen that way. Editing an existing file works
just fine, as does simply doing "libreoffice" and using the mouse to select a
document type (though using "libreoffice" and trying to use a keyboard shortcut
causes the document chooser UI to freeze up).

I'm using Fedora 20.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75376] Documents with fields have weird characters

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75376

On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit

For testing Michael S's patches, kind of need for Cloph's TB-47 to spin up a
build of 4.2.4 branch in release configuration using MSVC 2010.

Working with master and MSVC 2010 from Cloph's TB-47 build from the 9th,
Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 20fb1bfc72e626251b435bcff2339e1e425c7130
TinderBox: Win-x86@47-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2014-04-09_12:09:54
the malformed field shading exists, and can still be worked around with
+F8 to turn off field shading.

And now Cloph's TB-47 build from the 10th is rendering field shading correctly
with the
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0d8e3a145901ab0124d40d33a50e2de28dc0c8ab
patch in place.
Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 83c888bdb0a6c9795cebfc53fa74d6da8bb692b2
TinderBox: Win-x86@47-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2014-04-10_20:33:35

Issue as described was present in the RC3 and is in the Final release for 4.2.3
built with MSVC 2010. I have not seen it in TB-42 builds of 4.2 that use MSVC
2012. Re-verified that against a couple of recent TB-42 builds.

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 77301

   Summary: 4.2.3 Release stops editing
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: petershar...@pastoralsystems.co.nz
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Installed release 4.2.3 today and three times during the day's work editing in
Writer suddenly stopped. That is, one could no longer edit a document. Exiting
LO and re-loading the document enabled editing.

This hadn't happened with 4.2.3 RCs 2 and 3.

I eventually reverted to 4.2.3 RC 3 and the fault hasn't happened.

Thank you for LibreOffice.

Regards

May be your PC is much faster, but I just tested performance in Libreoffice
4.2.3.3 Build ID: 882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0 and compared it with
previuos results in LibreOffice Version 4.0.1.1 Build ID:
2c0c17a6e4bee0ee28131ea4bdc47edc700d659 in Russian Windows XP Professional SP3
(32bit) - all is done on the same PC.

Apache Open Office Beta 4.1.0 AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1573601
Example 25 - could NOT be opened -> 6 seconds
Example 25 - much bigger -> 22 seconds

LibreOffice Version 4.0.1.1
Example 25 - could NOT be opened -> 7 seconds
Example 25 - much bigger -> 4 minutes and 45 seconds

LibreOffice Version 4.2.3.3
Example 25 - could NOT be opened -> 7 seconds (no change)
Example 25 - much bigger -> 5 minutes and 07 seconds (slower than it was)

So I see even some small performance regression.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77268] FILEOPEN: Loading of Inkscape SVG produces General input/output error

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77268

"Insert > Image" works, even text is shown correctly. But such object is not
editable, which means that fileopen feature is still required.
---
Did you tried to open this file with Windows version of LO? I suppose this may
be the key condition to get this error.
---
I can make Inkscape svg without a text - with simple rectangle for example - it
will produce the same error.
---
I have some guess about this error: if I remove Inkscape-specific data from SVG
(like inkscape:label="Layer 1") - file starts to open without problems.

I just tried to reproduce this bug on another system and realized that
disabling desktop effects is vital to reproducing this bug. In all of my
previous test environments, fancy desktop effects were disabled. These effects
may cause the screen to redraw and make this bug untestible.

For instance, to test under MS Windows,
Control Panel -> System -> Performance Settings -> "Adjust for best
performance"

Under my Linux environments, I've been using IceWM and OpenBox with no effects
enabled.

This happens to me when running the LO-supplied 4.2.3.3 x86-64 .deb binaries.
It didn't *not* occur in v4.2.1. (I skipped v4.2.2.)

The crash happens when I delete a row which has a formula and constant data in
it. The cells above and below the formula also had formulas, and they
referenced each other. Deleting the constant data had no effect on whether the
file crashed.

NO SORTING NECESSARY to invoke the crash!!

--- Comment #4 from Paulo da Silva ---
I have tested after deleting everything libreoffice related from my home dir.
The bug still persists!

Please do the following:

1. Check your libreoffice version.
Mine is Versão: 4.2.2.1
ID da versão: 3be8cda0bddd8e430d8cda1ebfd581265cca5a0f

2. Open the original example I sent.
DSUM must show up 100 (this is wrong - the correct value should be 300)

3. Select cells E3 through E6
4. Enter uppercase C (without Enter)
5. Type Alt+Enter

After this DSUM should be 400.
I am getting 0 and this is wrong.

If you still don't see the problem let me know. I will install Libreoffice in
another computer with windows (I am running kubuntu here) and will give it a
try.

Thanks for your attention.

Haven't tried this method before. Thanks for the tip. But: I can't confirm the
bug for the internal HSQLDB together with LO 3.5.7.2 or LO 4.2.3.3. Have tested

An example scenario as described in the description of the bug.

Problem description:
Next Record field doesn´t work as expected or not at all. The preview generated
by the wizard – before actual mail merge is executed – doesn't show the next
record, however, the output has at least the first two records OK.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create an ODS file database with one column (e.g. names of people with
column header)
2. create an ODT file with two identical lines in it. The lines should have the
following: "name" field pointer to the column followed by space and "Next
record" field

Current behavior:
Next record field not working correctly.

Expected behavior:
Next record field working as it used to a long time ago (don't remember the
version, guess it was 3.x)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77251] Query Design to limited to 256 output fields

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77251

The limitation is not in what can be displayed after a query, that is working
fine for me too. I am currently approaching 300 since I am now building the
query directly with SQL. However, building a query in design view, one can add
to the output fields by simply double clicking the corresponding field in a
displayed table. This is MUCH easier than actually coding with SQL directly.
Unfortunately, after 256 output fields, design view simply fails to add any
more (and doesn't indicate that it is failing to do so). Thanks for your
input!

the internal HSQLDB.
There won't be any fix for the version 3.5.*.

How do you get such much fields using the GUI. I don't know how to add more
than the first shown (nearly 20) fields in LO 4.2.3.3.

Don't know if it would be a good idea to make this connection reachable through
the GUI. Only people who know about the problems of integrity of databases and
would never touch the *.csv-file and work a little bit in it with a text-editor
should be able to use this files.
Normal user should better use a system where the integrity of the data couldn't
be touch of such a simple way.

I set this bug to new, because the functionality isn't there yet. But I won't

--- Comment #1 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de ---
Base does only support the functions the database (like the internal HSQLDB)
would support. Autovalue is supported for databases where such an incremented
value is working with.
*.csv is a form of a text. You could use this to import data into an internal
database (HSQLDB). If you want to use autovalue you have to use the internal
HSQLDB with a table saved in the HSQLDB.

Please have a look for all, what is possible with
SET TABL ... SOURCE
http://hsqldb.org/doc/guide/ch09.html#set_table_source-section
http://hsqldb.org/doc/guide/ch06.html

I couldn't find anything written there that it would be possible to set a field
to autovalue. So it's not a bug of Base; could be a bug of HSQLDB, but this
version (1.8.) wouldn't be changed.

Ctrl+Shift+F9 Could serve as a turn around for my work, but it only works after
opening the spreadsheet. This is a bug and a serious one. Until recently it
used to work fine, for several years.

Let's see if I can explain it better.

The small example is only part of a huge spreadsheet to illustrate the problem.

1. The spreadsheet has, among others, two columns: V (values) and C/N (a
confirmation column).
2. I want a sum of the confirmed (those that have a C in the C/N column). I use
dbsum for that.
3. Sometimes I need to confirm a range of values at once. This correspond to
enter a C in each raw of each confirmed value in C/N column. One (unpractical)
way is to enter each C the normal way (C followed by Enter). This works.
Another way is to select the range of column C/N cells for the values I want
confirmed, and enter a C followed by Alt+Enter. This correctly enter the Cs as
pretended but the sum (dbsum) didn't get updated.
4. dbsum cell should be automatically updated.

To see the bug pls. do as follows in the original attached example:
1. Type Ctrl+Shift+F9 after opening the spreadsheet.
The sum is 300 (100 for each C - confirmed value). This is correct.
2. Now, Select for example cells E3:E4. Enter C followed by Alt+Enter.
The sum shows up 100 which is wrong!
BTW, Ctrl+Shift+F9 does not work anymore. It seems to work only immediately
after opening the spreadsheet!
3. You may play with the example entering Cs or Ns the normal way or in ranges
selecting the cells and entering C followed by Alt+Enter. The last way does not
work, unless you save, reopen and type Ctrl+Shift+F9!

Thanks

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76653

Hi Thomas,

for me, not having a suitable GUI for an essential feature is as bad as a bug.
I think there is a good reason why powerpoint has an icon to start the
slideshow at the current slide, not the first slide (one of the very few cases
where I prefer the microsoft solution ;-)

I had a text item 'Start from current slide' in the presentation toolbar so
far, but it takes a lot of space.
Your suggestion of adding an icon would be nice, but it did not work, see the
remarks I wrote when adding a test icon. I tried 16x16-pixel png-files with 8
bits grayscale, 8-bits indexed colors, and RGB, none of them worked. The .png
files do work in other programs or with Insert>Image>From File.

Anyhow, not everyone would like to create his or her own icons, so it should
come as a standard item in LO!

Confirmed on Mac OS X 10.6.8, LibreOffice 4.2.2.1.

I found our that I can get the cursor back by moving the mouse far up (So I am
sure that it is in the Mac's menu bar) and then clicking there.
Before knowing this, it made me crazy - I had to quit LO each time!

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: anastasius_zw...@hotmail.com

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.2.1 release

Slideshow where one can't step back from some slides using the keyboard

Problem description:

In some LO slideshows, for some slides, the left arrow and PageUp keys don't
work during presentation. It seems that this is related to an 'animation'
marker of the previous slide in the left sidebar, even though that slide has no
animation.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Load the attached cant_stepback.odp
2. Go to slideshow (F5)
3. Step forward a few slides with the right arrow or PageDown
4. Try to go back with left arrow or PageUp

Current behavior:
The hourglass symbol shortly apears in the bottom left corner, but it does not
go back. One has to right-click and select 'previous' on the popup menu to go
back.

Expected behavior:
Left arrow and PageUp keys always working for stepping back.

Same problem on Windows.
Same when using a wireless presenter instead of the arrow keys. (I think that
the presenter is recognized as an external keyboard by the computer)

I suspect that an animation marker is not properly cleared. Possibly similar

Could you propose it as an extension? Then if there is a large request by the
community it will surely be added. Also note that you can add macros example in
the wiki collection.
See http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ and also
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/alternative-dialog-find-replace-for-writer,
may be you can enhance this one if it doesn't suite your needs.

Hi, your document is not structured to work correctly. An index is based upon
heading styles and there are not organized in your document. For example, 1
Introduction and 1.1. Project problem have the same level of hierarchy: Heading
1, when 1.1 should use Heading2. Then 2.2.1 use Text Body style, etc...It seems
also no hierarchy of styles are defined under Tools > Chapter Numbering. So
please, read our documentation or come on the users list to get help on
structuring your document, you will not meet any more problems index. Closing

Right, sorry for comment 4.

Still, comment 5 is only good as a technical explanation for why this behaviour
occurs. However, weighing the chances of people misspelling the word "noun"
versus people actually wanting to write "sub-tripod", a ratio of 100,000:1
seems conservative, even.
The spell checker is supposed to be helpful, not to include every word that
could conceivable be created.

Obviously, one needs to have another LibreOffice window (e.g. a writer

soffice(.bin) process exits and obviously the fd is closed then.

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77141

--- Comment #3 from Lionel Elie Mamane ---
No, even further testing shows that the bug is just more elusive than I
thought:

 1) Reproducible on *both* machines

 2) With 4.1 *and* with 4.2

I "found" the bug in real-life scenarios, but here is a synthetic one that
always works (reproduces the bug):

 1) Start with an empty .odb

 2) Use wizard to create a table

 3) Category: Business / Sample Tables: Assets / Select all field

Next

 4) Next again

 5) Use an existing field as primary key: AssetID, "Auto value" *checked*

Next

 6) Insert data immediately

Finish

 7) Do not insert any data. Close the Table Window.

 8) Close the database window

By contrast, reopening the same .odb, entering data in the table and then
closing does not trigger the bug.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77267

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 77267
  Keywords: regression
CC: davian...@gmail.com, vmik...@collabora.co.uk
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: RTF import: some paragraphs not centered in particular
document
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: mst...@redhat.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

in the attachment of bug 74599 the paragraphs
"1" and "The problem heading" are not centered like they are
in Word (actually they don't have an Outline style in Word
so are not headings unlike the preceding ones).

was working in 3.6.7.2, broken in 4.0.0.3 => regression

also between the headings there are 2 empty paragraphs
with 1.27 cm first-line indent and "Justified" in Word/LO 3.6.7
but no indent/"Left" in LO 4.0.0.3

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77265] New: Possible LibreOffice Duplex Printing Bug

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77265

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 77265
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Possible LibreOffice Duplex Printing Bug
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: fobe...@enteract.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

I'm using the following:
64 bit Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
LibreOffice Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID:
be4035d00f37c492494fa7860955b6d0868c7f77
(This is required because of some bugs in 4.2 and below that affect me)
HP OfficeJet 6700 (w/Dual sided printing set as default)
CUPS 1.5.3
HP-LIP 3.14.4

Symptoms differ depending on whether the OS Printing dialog or LibreOffice
printing dialog is in use. I'll take these one by one.

When printing a single page in LibreOffice apps, using the Operating System
printing dialogs, the following is true:

a) I'm unable to select "current page" on the General tab, but must enter a
specific page number under "Pages."
b) I am able to select "one-sided" on the Layout tab. (Proper behavior)
c) I've tested this in Writer, Draw and Impress. The labelling is somewhat
inconsistent, but they all act the same. I didn't attempt to use Calc just
because I got tired of experimenting.
d) Even so, once the single page is printed, the paper is "sucked back in" and
fed through a second time. Nothing prints of course, but this is actually a
potentially serious problem under some conditions which I'll explain
momentarily.
e) Of importance, I think, is the fact that the left margin (on a landscape
page - obviously this would be the top margin on a portrait page) is larger
than it would typically be for a single sided page. Many printers I've had,
including the current HP-6700 need to "reserve" some space (I guess to grab the
paper) when printing double-sided. This belief by the printer that it is
*supposed* to be printing in double sided mode might help to narrow down where
the difficulty is.

When printing a single page in LibreOffice apps, using the LibreOffice printing
dialogs, the following is true:
a) I AM able to select "current page" and, in fact, the current page (or slide)
number is entered in the box for me. (Proper behavior)
b) The Properties tab seems to "hang" while loading (mostly just the outline of
the new sub-dialog box is displayed), although I've found that if you click the
mouse somewhere on the header, it immediately appears completely.
c) Attempting to select "off" under the Duplex options (i.e. single sided)
causes blinking and flashing that's hard to describe, but I've very rarely been
able to select "off" using the mouse as the cursor/highlight just keeps
bouncing around. If, however, I just use the arrow keys, everything works.
d) When the single page is printed, the printer does not attempt to suck the
paper back in. (Proper behavior)
e) On identical pages, using the LibreOffice dialogs permits the entire content
to be printed without cutting off the left edge of the landscape pages. (Proper
behavior)

The reason this is more important than the extra three second or so return trip
through the paper flipper is that Hewlett-Packard (and other printer
manufacturers) do not recommend using double sided printing when using stock
above a certain thickness (e.g. card stock) because doing so raises the
likelihood of jamming the mechanism. With a default setting of double sided
(and why else would I have purchased a double sided printer?), when I need to
print on card stock, the chances of forgetting to set one-sided would be my
fault, but if I set it and the driver ignores that setting, that (I believe) is
a bug.

It would seem that simply using only the LibreOffice dialogs would be a
reasonable work-around, the flashing and needing to move between the mouse and
keyboard unnecessarily is just trading one annoyance for another.

To be fair, this problem might appear as if it could be caused by Ubuntu, CUPS,
HP-LIP, or LibreOffice, but I believe I've narrowed it down to LibreOffice
simply because I don't experience these problems when printing from several
other applications I regularly use. But I acknowledge that it might be caused
by some weird interactions among the aforementioned applications.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75376] Documents with fields have weird characters

2014-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75376

Thanks for fixing this Michael!

But...

So this means that the fix won't show up in official builds until 4.3?

Too bad... this means that we cannot use 4.2 in our office, so will have to
wait until at leqast 4.3.3 before a major upgrade.

That really sucks.

Is this really such an invasive change that it cannot be backported?
