tested under Win7x64 using LibO 4.2.5.2

as far as I see there's no format change between the file you uploaded if I
edit and save it in 4.2.5.2

so you should retest with current 4.2.5.2 release and see if you still
experience the same issues as before.

you should also consider uploading the first version of the .pptx before being
edited in LibO, since as JBF noticed the version you uploaded was already
messed up and I suspect that it was not the original version with correct
formatting

moreover I do not see further format change when saving it again in 4.2.5.2.

Hi Tommy,

I have no idea how the software is running now, I haven't used it for 2-3
months now and am now using a different operating system and haven't installed
LibreOffice Impress on it yet.
When I experienced that issue with Impress, I would encounter the problem when
I saved the presentation as a Microsoft Powerpoint file. This would cause the
automatic formatting in the LibreOffice version of the document to convert
badly and the result would be text running off the slides to the left and
right.

But I haven't used the software since, so I'm unsure what the state of things
are now.

Thank you for getting back to me,
Mike Sipos

So - again if someone has a build with debugging symbols (but -not- debugutil -

> When i open attachment, column C is set to 'Descending'

Column C is Descending because I set it to decending. And it works as expected.

For example, for row 3 and 4, values are same in column A and B, so column C is
sorted, and is in decending order (as expected)
For row 5-7, values in column A are the same, so column B are sorted in
ascending order as expected.

Do not reproduce on ubuntu 14.04 x86, libreoffice 4.3.0.2.
May be windows only?

I created a spreadsheet and fill 3 columns with random numbers for 1048576
rows, then try to close while exporting csv. Calc did not crash, the exporting
process finished successfully and Calc quit finally.

Hi Yokesh,

Have you tried to solve this with user-support. For example there is a group of
users with a great variety of skills that can offer help with questions:
  http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/

I guess there's something with links and such, that remain marked. Or with the
way of pasting the text etc. Anyway, IMO more user-handling then a bug.

So for now I tend to close as WORKSFORME. OK?
Then might there turn out to be a real problem in some specific details, it's
always great to reopen with those details.

pls let me know.

For this link:
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/external/excel/quotes.asp?SYMBOL=IAU

as provided in bug 72678, it also does NOT work in LibreOffice 4.2.5.2 (when
hit ENTER, no tables are shown in the "available tables/ranges" box).
But it works in 3.6.7.2.

However, in 4.2.5.2, all other links I tested works fine.

So I keep the version as 4.3.0.2, and add bug 72678 as see also.

Matus - I'd love to have some input from you on writing performance tests that
are things that are not startup / load / save =)

Is there some set of unit tests we could create and/or a makefile rule that we
could hook into to create a series of such tests we can run ?

The large auto-correct database is a perennial problem to keep at-speed =)

Good question; of course first you need the build with debugging symbols etc.
Then I woudl make it do whatever slow / hanging thing you want.

After that -while it is hung, if you can connect windbg you should get a very
interesting stack trace =) [ but look at all threads and ignore the ones that
are not doing very much ;-].

Does that make sense ?

Amaund,

Thanks for posting.

These are likely loss of focus, and accessibile event issues.

But, we need better details about the version of Linux, which screen reader
(Orca we'll assume), and what other navigation you perform on the Calc document
that also cause issues.

Very possible this is the same issue as bug 81098 (loss of AT in Calc on
Windows) and we'll merge them.

Ok, Jean Philippe will tell you all version information on his computer.

But on windows it's all the time, on Linux depending on file content (I know,
weird), I will check on mine, we tested on his computer.

Not sure about loss focus because we can move with arrow.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81195] FILESAVE: Missing Cell Names in XLS

2014-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81195

The example file provided was most recently saved with Microsoft
Office Excel 2007 (I had to use Excel to get my work done as
LibreOffice is too buggy). This XLS goes back some years and I
have no idea what version was originally used to create it.

I have *MANY* XLS files that exhibit flakiness in LOO, where things seem
to work for a while and then after a few edits the formulas suddenly
go to #NAME or #ERR or similar. It took me a while to see that simply
opening and saving some files trashes the formulas.

I suspect something is going horribly wrong constructing the formula
data-structures on file-open (specifically name references), leading
to corruption later...

Hope that helps,
Best Regards, Dave

The bug appears on Ubuntu 12.04, with Orca 3.4 (they are still supported by
Ubuntu, as they are LTS). Any movement is affected: up, down, right, left, etc.

Confirmed with libreoffice 3.6.7, 4.2.5.2 and 4.3.0.2, ubuntu 14.04 x86.
There is a serious lag/delay when scrolling near the charts. The lag may be
because Calc is trying to refresh the chart when scrolling.

I agree with Andrey that Calc should do sth to optimize the performance
regarding charts. When the cell data are not changed, or the user did not
change the chart layout, the chart will always remain the same, so there is no
need to refresh/update the chart when scrolling or switching bewteen sheets.

Only when the cell values are changed or the user change the chart layout,
shall the chart be updated.

(Maybe a cached image file can be used? As you can see if you insert an image
in a spreadsheet, you can scroll very fast)

It's the same problem with version 3.6.7.2. May be from Aoo?

I am wondering how this chart was created, as when I was trying to create a
chart from data which contains 10K+ rows, it's really slow, and when you try to
rezise the chart, calc will freeze.

Also, when attachment 79703 finished loading finally in Calc, if you scroll,
there is secious lag/delay. There is a saperate bug report regard this issue:
Bug 81230. I added as see also.

I added some bugs which may be related/duplicate as see also.
There is also another one, reported in June 2012, but was set as INVALID: bug
51160.

As we can see, users are always complaining about the chart issue on big/large
data source, but there is always no improvements.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54227] TABLES: single decimal tab in a paragraph in a table adjust text BEFORE the tabulation

2014-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54227

As of today, in Version: 4.2.4.2 Build ID: 420m0(Build:2) (with Ubuntu 14.04)
it appears as if decimal tabs in LibreOffice are completely broken. Cells
contain only numbers. It is impossible to align the numbers on the decimal.
Inserting a decimal tab using the ruler bar aligns the numbers to the right,
irrespective of the position of the tab.

Created attachment 102671

10k rows of data, to draw a simple line chart

The attached test ods file contains 10,000 rows / 2 columns of data in the
first sheet.

Try to see if you can draw a similar simple line chart as the 2nd sheet.
(When creating the chart, remember to choose the option "First Column as
Label")

For me, it's impossible, because Calc freezes during the process.

>From your screenshot, I can see that you are chaning the background color by
clicking the "background color" icon.
That icon is to change the background color of the paragraph. If you want to
change the background color of selected text, you should use "Highlighting"
icon, which is next on the left.

>also and the same problem also in selected area font style,
Please provide detailed steps how to reproduce this. When select some text of a
paragraph and apply font style, it's only applied to the selected text.

Thanks!

when I try to export PDF with Digital signature. (PDF export without digital
signature is working fine).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81267] New: Repeat operator

2014-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81267

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 81267
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Repeat operator
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: c...@ithought.dk
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Formula Editor
   Product: LibreOffice

I request an enhancement of the formula editor to support the repeat operator
using the big R notation proposed by Yingxu Wang. The repeat operator is the
mathematical equivalent of a for-loop. It works similar to the summation
operator except that the operation can be any mathematical operation. For
example, the generalization of the summation operator could be expressed like
this:

sum from i = 1 to k x_i = repeat from i = 1 to k "sum"(x_i)

Here "repeat" would render the big R sign similar to the big summation sign.

See for instance:

"On Contemporary Denotational Mathematics for Computational Intelligence" by
Yingxu Wang

Any workaround for the current formula editor is welcome for now (how to render
a big R).
