https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61228 Thomas Arnhold changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|NEW --- Comment #7 from Thomas Arnhold --- Mike, ah your explanation maked it clear to me. "summe" is not the problem. You cat try anything else, like "foo". Writer only interprets the "" part of "=summe()". Looks like the angle brackets are some shortcut to sum?! The issue is, that writer should not silently ignore the wrong function name, but display an error, that the function was not found. Then it would be clear to everyone. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81829 Priority: medium Bug ID: 81829 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: VIEWING: Can't page down accurately in "Entire Page" view Windows 7 Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: warrenm...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.5.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Problem description: It is not possible to use Writer to read a long document properly because it does not align pages properly when page down pressed. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a large document in Writer under Windows 7. 2. Select "Entire Page" from View/Zoom 3. Press page down. Current behavior: Page down will align the document so that the interpage break is roughly in the middle of the viewing area. The top of the area will show the end of the previous page and the bottom of the area will show the start of the current page. Continued pressing of page down will continue to align the page break in the approximate centre of the viewing area. Expected behavior: Page down should align the document so that the top of the page is at the top of the viewing area and only that page should be visible. Continued pressing of page down should display each successive page taking up the entire viewing area. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61228 Mike Kaganski changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |NEEDINFO --- Comment #6 from Mike Kaganski --- Actually, the problem isn't described clearly. Namely, there's NO function "summe" in no locale of LO writer. So, original poster described the situation where one uses arbitrary name as "function" and sees that it is ignored by writer. When writer sees a formula like "=summe()", it parses it, finds "summe" and looks for it in its pre-defined names (functions, variables and constants), in user-defined names (variables), doesn't find it, and substitutes it with empty string. Then it has formula like "=()", and processes it normally. When using correct syntax (i.e. pre-defined name "SUM"), it is processed correctly. Then, what is the issue? Is it the proposal to add new function "summe" as a localized name for "SUM"? If yes, then there should be other localizations for other languages, too (and then, do it for calc as well). Or maybe you mean that writer should not ignore unknown names (turn them into empty strings), and should instead emit an error return value (like "") in the cell (to notify user of possible mistake)? It is not "NEW", until the actual problem is clarified. Setting to NEEDINFO, please set it to "UNCONFIRMED" after providing necessary clarifications. I mean, that in File->Print->[select printer]->Properties->Paper size I can't see all sizes, but only suitable with default (currently configured in CUPS) (assume that it's 'Plain') paper type. So that I can't print on DL Envelope, because it's not listed. I have to select (assume that using system-config-printer) in Printer Options: - page size: DL Env., - paper type: [thick or not] envelope. You can see that there's condition: I can't save option [page size]=[DL Env.], if paper type isn't compatible. There was no such condition in older PPDs (eg. when trying to print DL Envelope on older Kyocera printers, there weren't such problems). After that I restart LibreOffice and try File->Print->[select printer]. Wow. I see the magical DL Envelope. If I click Properties, then I can see all page sizes available for [thick or not] envelope paper type. In the spirit of giving this a proper status, I have to admit I wasn't sure what importance to give it as a Libre Office User. Since it affects my primary use of Libre Office, I would have personally given it highest, but chose as medium as I don't know how many others would view it the same. But here's my thoughts (if this kind of thing doesn't belong here, feel free to delete). 1. For posting things to view (including presentations) online SWF files are one of the standards. (Great example: Youtube accepts the uploading of SWF files for videos, and people embed Youtube videos for site presentations everywhere.) 2. The posting-online-aspect greatly affects program use in our internet-heavy world. 3. At present, to try and get a more accurate conversion into SWF, pretty much every conversion tool or method to get an ODP into SWF format ends up having to require conversion to PPT. This not only loses data inherent to the ODP, but also makes a prime competitor a necessary step. 4. online presentations are VERY visible. When some list credits and include the program they used, that's a lot more exposure for LibreOffice if it streamlines the process. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Also the preview function is slow and partially doesn't work (most images don't show up in the preview) even though my workstation is connected with a Gigabit ethernet cable to the server. Normal WebDAV file access like opening and saving LibreOffice documents seems to be working well so far. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55292] autocorrect does not correct two dashes to em-dash *when dashes are not discreet*
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55292 --- Comment #4 from Patrick Gillespie --- Okay, but there still seems to be confusion as concerns the en-dash and em-dash. (See Bug 67364). Test-- will be corrected to "–" But: Test--- will correct to "–-" instead of Test— "em-dash". The workaround requires that the user include an autocorrect entry as follows: Correct .*–- to — This *is* progress. (The autocorrect wildcard is invaluable.)
