[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83125] LO Writer loses/abandons cursor focus in encrypted password window

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83125

I did some experimenting and the results are variable.

I created a new unencrypted document and two encrypted documents. While I had
the unencrypted document open, running libreoffice from the command line to
open one of the encrypted ones did this:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3x0QT9-7fINzZuTGpsa1VUWHc/edit?usp=sharing

Notice that the password window does not have the focus (the blue one has the
focus).

It did the same thing when I opened the encrypted document from the
File->Recent Documents window, but when the screen snapshot came up, the
password window grabbed the focus right before the screenshot. Wish I could
prove that one.

The exact same thing happened when I held the encrypted document open and tried
to open the second one with the File->Recent Documents menu, and again the
window grabbed the focus before the snapshot took place.

But, if I opened the second encrypted document from the command line as before,
this is what happened:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3x0QT9-7fIdzIyb0RCaXp3WGM/edit?usp=sharing

If you experiment around a bit with this, you should see the same problem.

I will say that it seems to be more prevalent if the command line is either set
to run in background ( &) or uses the xdg-open command, which
effectively does the same thing. Maybe there's a correlation, though the
Files->Recent Documents effect suggests otherwise.

I hope that helps. let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks.

No, it hasn’t been removed and it’s already in a tooltip, which appears when

Update: please do not close this bug.

I believe this is the way to reproduce the problem.

1. Open an encrypted (or perhaps any) document.

2. Leave the document open and try to open another encrypted document, but not
from the same document window as the already-open one.

The password input window does not take the focus.

Also, if I use to switch to the input window, the focus shifts to
the open document instead.

I can add screenshots if you need them.

Bug ID: 83419
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Autocorrect doesn't work correctly with
visible tracked changes
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.1.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Observed on OSX 10.9.4/ LO 4.3.1.2 and 4.4 master

Deleted text shouldn't be considered during autocorrection, but is when tracked
changes are made visible.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open the attached test document
2) Set tracked changes off, and view tracked changes on
3) Position the cursor after the deleted "k"

then either

4a) type "nwon"

or

4b) type "knwon"

Expected results:
(4a expected) -> Nothing
(4b expected) -> The typo is corrected

Actual results:
On 4.3.1.2:
(4a actual) -> The deleted "k" is promoted to live text and the whole word
corrected to "known"
(4b actual) -> The typo is not corrected

On 4.4 master:
(4a actual) -> The deleted "k" is promoted to live text and the whole word
corrected to "Known"
(4b actual) -> The deleted "k" is promoted to live text and the whole word is
mis-corrected to "Kknown"

In each case, the results are correct if Edit – Changes – Show is disabled

Hi Andy,

Yes. This is really annoying and was previously reported in
Bug 80650 - lower case greek alphabet missing in localized Math symbol table.

A workaround exists. Take "smfr.res" in a previous working version at:
"..program\resource\smfr.res"
for me who is french,
and replace it at the same location in the non-working version.
This file is locale dépendent. I find mine in LO 4.2.1.1 and this work.

I set status to Duplicate,

Regards,

Jacques

I think adjust it's fine, but in my understanding, sometimes wrong, it must be
in the same way like Copy/Paste, adjust relative references and retain absolute
references, like it is supposed a spreadsheet works. It's an user matter use
properly relative/absolute references.

Now with sample in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83276:

A9:
=IF(C9C8;"Re-sort";IF(AND(C9=C8;B9C9;"Re-sort";IF(AND(C5=C9;B5C9), maybe they have several
changes while sorting.

Forgive me, but I can't see why keep relative references changed in a different
way than Copy/Paste, when a priori you don't know what data finish in what row.
I think most times comparisons/sums are with previous/next row, like in the
sample, or to sum all the previous or all the rest rows/columns.

After some further fiddling I can say that the automatic turning of lower case
code into uppercase is not so automatic: If a I copy the first formula of the
attachment and paste it into another documents file, the lowercase code gets
converted into uppercase.
However, further editing to return to lowercase code afterwords will be
stabilize the formula.

Some further comparative analysis of LO 4.0.1 and LO 4.3.2 symbols catalogs
showed that symbols names for the few remaining lowercase Greek letters in LO
4.3.2 are all those that have a "var" prefix preceding the original name (just
six in all actually, I counted them wrong before when I said 8). All the
lowercase Greek symbols without "var" have disappeared.

it. If you reopen this slideshow in LibreOffice immediately then the timing is
still 0, if you open it with PowerPoint and then save, the timing changes back
to 10. Is this correct?

We're not going to change the default timing to 0 - better to figure out why
the timing isn't sticking - or to figure out at least if it's even our bug or
not

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83417] FORMULAEDITOR: Formula editor symbols catalog has a lot of important greek letters missing

I raised the priority since:
- any editing of existing formulas in old documents would lead to dataloss, in
the sense that the document contents would contain wrong and unwanted formulas.
- it is actually impossible to write formulas now, if you need greek symbols.
I have to start my course in statistics using LO in three weeks now, and I will
have to revert to older releases, or it would be impossible.

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: silva...@katamail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.1.2 release
 Component: Formula Editor
   Product: LibreOffice

A presentation showning formula corruption in three comparative examples on
page 1, and comparing the lists of Greek lowercase letters in LO 4.3.2 (wrong)
and OO 4.01 (correct)

Problem description:
In the formula editor, the "Catalog" allowed you to insert easily any greek
letter into your formula, as well as other symbols. In 4.3.1 most lowercase
Greek letter are gone, among them some of the most important ones. The
lowercase sigma, for example, the symbol universally used for standard
deviation, is no more. You can add it manually to the catalog, just as you
could do with a dozen other lowercase Greek letters missing. This is no real
solution, however; if you insert your newly created symbol, e.g. "sigma", when
you reopen the formula "sigma" in the code will be automatically turned into
"SIGMA" and in the formula output you will have the capital sigma Greek letter
instead of the lowercase.
Non of this happened before, tough I am not able to tell exactly which release
was the first to have this problem.
This is a really huge problem: if you write a lot of formulas Libreoffice is
basically unusable at present. Moreover, another danger lies in the fact that
any old document in which you reopen existing formulas for editing will have
them corrupted.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open the attached presentation file. the first formula was written with an
old well behaving version, and is correct.
2. the second formula was a copy of the first, which was opened with 4.3.2. As
you can see the sigma e rho lowercase symbols were turned into capital letter,
fully inappropriate here.
3. open the catalog, choose "edit" button and add two "new symbols named
"sigma" and "rho". Then n the third formula, which was a copy of the second
one, rewriting manually "sigma" and "rho" in lowercase replacing the capital
letter codes gives you the correct symbols in the output. BUT: if you edit the
formula again, they will automatically be turned into uppercase again!

Current behavior:
At present it is practically impossible to do any math editing if you make
large use of greek letters (i.e. very often)
Expected behavior:
symbols catalog should take

I have cells in Calc that contain line breaks and, because of how someone else
pasted stuff in there, where the stuff before the line break is in a different
font and a different color than the stuff after the line break. What is
super-frustrating is that I can't just do CTRL-A and then apply the font and
color that I want to everything - rather, I have to double-click into every
cell and change things there one by one. That CAN'T be what ppl want, can it?

I tried with LO 4.3.1.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 x86. The problem remains same. .png is
fine, however .eps is the problem.

I uploaded the files. which shows transparency and fill colour both vanishes.
Althougn we need transparency also for .eps format.

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 4.3.0.4, I installed trial version
from this url:

Then I installed fonts.

I tested CONVERTSTRINGTOCODE128, it was ok.

Do you still have the problem with recent LO version (4.2.6 or 4.3.1)?
Did you install Java 32 bits? (since on Windows, LO is only on 32 bits)

did the same calculation in Excel & I got the right amount.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Pasted several times in a column
2. Used Autosum to get the value in normal H:m:s format.
3. Changed format to "[h]:mm:ss" to get the total amount of hours.
4. Changed format to "d:hh:mm:ss" to get days as an added value.

See attached image to compare.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't know which version of Word it was prepared on. I have

REOPEN, confirmed comment11 observation.
Change LO background color but rulers stay white and do not adjust color.
Rulers are white by default and background is lightgrey. So initial assumption
that rulers do match application background color, seems to be false.

Correct me, if I'm off here.

Secondly, I don't understand what it would break? Why would people be bothered
by that when every other piece of software does it? And it this is a concern on
the LO side, has anyone ever asked these clients? And lastly, if there are
people who want the current setup, then we could always make it opt-in.

Let's run with this one for a bit longer, shall we?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your issue and explaining here.
I expect that the people that should do this work will judge WONTFIX. Simply
because there is a huge risk that this will break balance between free and
corporate support, thus harming the whole project.. So I take freedom to set
accordingly. Sorry.

Maybe there is room for improving explanation to users?
There is the automatic update notification. Maybe that should include warnings?

Cheers,

Window capture of the check for updates/version check bug.

After the installation of a new version of LibreOffice on a machine --- in this
case, 4.3.0.4, though I've seen the bug through many, many previous versions
--- checking for updates the very first time fails. Checking for updates
subsequently works. I cannot comment on whether this bug arises on fresh
installs or not; I don't remember. I am reporting the bug for installs over
previous versions.

To make the bug appear, install a new version of LibreOffice over an old
version, then go to Help>Check for Updates. Instead of version status
information in the window which opens up, only %PERCENT% is shown; see window
capture attached for more information.

This is a minor bug, but it might as well be fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83406] New: Redesign LO update process

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83406

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83406
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Redesign LO update process
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: f...@akerbeltz.org
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

The installation process of updates needs redesigned as a matter of urgency so
that LO can run some form of auto-update in the background (similar to what
Firefox does these days) so end users always are up to date with the latest
versions and, more importantly, security updates.

Rationale:
Most end users are (understandably) lazy and will update their software less
often than they should, especially if the process is complicated or time
consuming. In the case of LO, it is both. LO is not reliable in terms of
carrying over the user settings from one version to the next (for example, it
*always* tries to re-install 'English (South Africa)' for some strange reason;
in the case of users where the UI locale is not the same as the OS locale, it
sometimes will default back to English or the OS locale, not entirely sure
which). This is not helpful for mid to low-tech users.
Case in point, I have just had to upgrade 5 systems for a small office (as a
favour), which had various version ranging from 3.2 to 4.0. I had mentioned the
security fix I had noticed but they had never heard of it. When questioned,
they pointed out that most software (like Windows or Mozilla) these days has a
simple update/upgrade process where user intervention is often no longer
necessary beyond restarting.

I apologise for not being able to propose a patch or even a technical solution,
I'm most active on the localization side and have almost no skills at coding.

Perhaps you should file a new enhancement request. Doesn't look like a bug :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83379] FILESAVE: Document containing draw:custom-shape corrupted on save (regression)

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83379

Created attachment 105619
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=105619&action=edit
A second minimised document which may or may not be related to the same bug
(see comment)

Attaching a second document minimised in a different way from the same source.

This one chokes on an exception after "Select All" followed by "Cut" or
"Delete"

This may or may not be a result of the same underlying bug - they both contain
draw:custom-shape objects but the symptom is obviously different.

If it is not, a separate bug should be raised.

LibreOffice 4.3.1.2 release

I can open the file in writer fine. Please try to download 4.3.1.2 with a fresh
profile to see if you get a crash.

Marking as WFM - if you can confirm with 4.3.1.2 still with a fresh profile set
the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and I'll try to find someone to test with Windows.
Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83403] New: BASIC: LibreOffice freezes when saving document to new file

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83403

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83403
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: BASIC: LibreOffice freezes when saving document to new
file
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: remui42+bugzi...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.1.2 release
 Component: BASIC
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: When I try saving a file, no file is written to disk, but
the program just freezes. This happens in Writer and Calc. I have not tried the
other included programs, but would imagine that it happens as well.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Typing anything into the document
3. Open the save dialog
4. Choose any name and Save
5. Program freezes

Current behavior: When I try saving a file, no file is written to disk, but the
program just freezes. This happens in Writer and Calc. I have not tried the
other included programs, but would imagine that it happens as well.
Saving works fine if I open an existing document and "Save" it. LibreOffice
freezes when I use "Save As" and save under the same filename or a completely
different filename.
I can "save as" if I save over a different existing Open Document file.

Expected behavior: A file is saved after I choose a filename without
LibreOffice window freezing

I have tried to get a strace with Windbg by following the steps on
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg
After I had attached the debugger to soffice.bin and saved a document as a new
file, LibreOffice did not freeze and saved the document just fine.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.3.1.2 release

When they need those, Alt-F-D Enter (in English version) is their friend.
I for myself won't pent time on bringing all that many users need under the few
icons, cause people don't seem to need it so much that they use the office
product as they should.
Ahum :) Apologies ;)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82359] Deprecate/Drop gstreamer 0.10 support

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82359

For keeping gstreamer0.10 on LiveCDs it *could* happen in 6 months (I would say
likely in 1 year):
Fedora - the only blocker is building pidgin (used by empathy) against
gstreamer1 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=962028)

Ubuntu - the pidgin move (used by empathy)
And bluez needs an update
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1162781)

For keeping in archives likely looking at 2+ years as their all still 30 or so
apps dependent on gst0.10 in Ubuntu Utopic.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71248] Excel VBA: ActiveDocument is not tracking currently selected document

2014-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71248

In the description, I wrote 'closing the "last opened" spreadsheet causes VBA
references to the ActiveWhatever to Basic Runtime Error.'

Somewhere along the line, this VBA error part has been fixed (fix sometime
earlier, but testing today with Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID:
1a91abb451806bd93a08953c6a1afdb88995705e). I tried to find the fix commit
location with bibisect, but it hasn't been fixed in any of the bibisect series
(still an error with "git checkout latest" Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha1+ Build ID:
c15927f20d4727c3b8de68497b6949e72f9e6e9e).

Now the super-interesting part - EVERYTHING WORKS NOW when the "last" document
has been closed. I opened up 4 copies of the test document. At first, the
macro in all of them points to the LAST opened document (the reason for the bug
report). However, if I close the LAST OPENED document, the ActiveDocument
status now PROPERLY switches between the remaining three!!!

By default on GNU/Linux LO drops configuration directly into user's home
directory. WOuld be much nicer to support XDG spec from
http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html and
place it under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME which is usually dedicated .config directory in
the user's home.

Okay but the sensible option would have been to implement changed behaviour AND
