That's a preference thing and you'll end up in endless debates over what is
better. I'm just saying by default "optimal height" is set and that changes
depending on what is in the cells. Imagine if you typed something in size 30
font, you'd want the height to adjust (by default) and then if you changed it
back to size 10, you'd want it to adjust. So optimal height is staying and the
behavior is remaining BUT the undo should function right

Joel:

"a. Delete content in column b/c/d and you won't see a change."

This is not true. If I delete the content of B6, C7, D8, E9, F10, etc... the
height changes.

I disagree that the height of the row should change when content is deleted or
background color is changed no matter what the "optimal row height" is.

Confirmed on OSX 10.9.4 / LO 4.3.1.2, 4.4 master

It doesn't crash for me, but does hang for a very long time (several minutes,
without using CPU) before returning.

Based on the debugging output from master, I can see that LO is actually
attempting to fetch some data over HTTP (!) when the paste is made, and that
this is blocking. Writer returns to life after the requests finish.

-> Set to NEW
-> Platform: All
-> Version: 4.3.1.2 release (earlier versions not tested)

Which file chooser do you use, that of your window manager (Gnome, Xfce, etc.)
or that one of LibreOffice? That can be configured in options: menu Tools >
Options > LibreOffice > General.

I did my test with both file choosers. Same behavior if I use the menu or the
button in the insert toolbar.

Best regards. JBF

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72884] FILEOPEN: Very long opening - opening time five minutes

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72884

Results of similar analysis of the larger document:

Roundtrip by Save in LO (as .doc or .docx) -> Reopen -> Issue not present

Roundtrip by Open in Word (Mac, 2011) -> Save as .docx -> Reopen in Word ->
Save as .doc -> Reopen in LO -> Issue still present

Thus, comparing the OOXML saved by LO and Word to find the difference, it is
quickly apparent that where LO writes in document.xml:

Рoздiл 1. Прaвoвi зaсaди тa мeхaнiзми мирoтвoрчoї
дiяльнoстi ЛAД..12

The same line of text written by Word instead goes:

Р

o

...

...for a total of 42 for one line of text, each with one or only a few
characters in it. LO appears to be merging these segments on load, while Word
does not.

In total, in the version of the OOXML saved by LO there are 1102 , while
in the Word version there are 76028.

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83511

SheetJS changed:

Related to the rounding bug is a fraction bug: set A1 to the formula =0.1+0.2
and set the format to Fraction with one digit. LO gives 2/7 (which is what you
would get if you round), but excel gives 1/3 (which is what the Aberth
algorithm gives when you do include the error bits).

IMHO breaking consistency with excel's math doesn't "improve the user
experience",

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51534] Ruler background doesn't change according to application background setting

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51534

Got it. Writer indeed has to be closed and re-opened. Can this be tweaked?

When adjusting the LO background color, it instantly changes in Writer except
for the rulers. That is rather confusing behavior and should be improved before
we close this bug - my 2 cent.

Also I was confused that the rulers themselves stay white but maybe to adjust
the inside color of the rulers another color setting has to be switched.

This feature request was added when I was writing an essay during my master
degree. At some point, because of the writing protocol we had to follow, it
would have been easier and quicker to flip the caption using this feature in a
special manner. However, I can't remember exactly of the case I was facing at
the time, so it may be simpler to close this feature request for now. If
someone faces a case where it is needed, he may reopen it.

tried to copy the section from the document and change the wording but that
does not reproduce the issue. It seems to only happen inside this specific

copy or even select the text inside of MS Word.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83511] New: FILEOPEN FILESAVE rounding XLSX numbers

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83511

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83511
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN FILESAVE rounding XLSX numbers
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: d...@sheetjs.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Context: https://github.com/SheetJS/js-xls/issues/49#issuecomment-54542526

Excel stores raw IEEE754 numbers when saving. For example, a cell with formula
=0.1+0.2 will have a stored value of 0.30004. However, LibreOffice
appears to store the rounded value instead.

Based on the aforementioned context, I have collected some sample files at
http://sheetjs.com/xls_issue_49/

xls_issue_49.xls is the original XLS file. The other files are produced by
opening the XLS file and saving as XLSX with the specified tool:

- xls_issue_49_2011.xlsx -- excel 2011
- xls_issue_49_2013.xlsx -- excel 2013
- xls_issue_49_2013_strict.xlsx-- excel 2013 Strict OpenXML
- xls_issue_49_libreoffice.xlsx-- LibreOffice

Look at cell C172 in the sheet1.xml subfile of each. The files based from
Excel show:

3.2405E-2

The LO file shows:

0.0324

On a side note, the `t="n"` is strictly not needed according to ECMA-376: the
default cell type is "n" as seen in the schema definition

Under Linux I see a clear jump of the memory used by LO each time the GDI
object is shown. That said, when I stop to scroll the memory is released in few
seconds.

Tested with LO 4.3.2.0.0+ build at home under Ubuntu 14.04 x86-64 (Build ID:

I do not observe the same behavior with version 4.2.7.0.0+ (Build ID:
a7f7b93299a9a7af8b243099f78f236172c4cb51) build at home under Ubuntu 14.04

Possibly also of interest: For the second file (IDPZK_MODUL_2.doc),

Save -> Reload -> Issue still present (so whatever the problematic formatting
is, it appears to survive a round trip through .doc)

Save as ODT -> Reload -> Save as .doc -> Reload -> Issue still present (ditto
round trip through ODT, although the issue does not occur when loading from
ODT)

Set all text to one language -> Save -> Reload -> Issue no longer present

Looking at the content.xml of the file as an ODT,

And so on. There appear to be long paragraphs of text where the language flips
to EN and back between every word. Whether or not it's specifically language,
it seems plausible that the slow loading speed may have something to do with
this property dance.

Setting the language doesn't seem to do anything to the larger document, so
there may be something else going on there.

first in list
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)

Problem description:
When inserting an image from file, double-clicking on an image file will result
in opening always the first file in the widget instead of the selected one.
Few notes: I've found the issue in Impress, but I'm not sure if it is found in
other programs as well. Also, I've used PNG files, not sure about other
formats.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert->Image->"From file..."
2. Browse to a directory with multiple images
3. double-click on any image but the first

Current behavior:
The first image in the list is open.

Expected behavior:
The selected image is open

Operating System: Debian
Version: 4.2.5.2 release

I understand that it works for you, and I would expect that on such a modern
system it would. My systems are modern as well, and it works fine on them.
But in the real world, many businesses and non-profits rely on older systems,
and I have received numerous reports of the bug and have witnessed it scores of
times at client's offices.

I don't think it's appropriate to mark this as RESOLVED, as testing has not
been sufficient to determine such as status.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83452] Draw is crashing during polygon editing

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83452

Joel,

No problem, test file attached.

Steps:
I converted the original powerpoint file online to an ODF drawing
At this point I manipulated each polygon line to represent puzzle piece
lines (see attached file) using the various "Edit Points" toolbar

Software crashes occurred when I would zoom into a polygon area and then
start editing it by either stretching a point, adding a point, or
manipulating the curve.

In order to finish the graphic I've had to manually save after making a
single change. Let me know if there's a fix for this.

Thanks,
Brian

I should add additional information after a chat with Liongold:
* Problem is that the method "attacEvent" was dropped in IE11. This method is
caled by JQuery.
* Problem might already fixed in a new JQuery version
* Compatibility Mode in IE11 help either. Layout is looking ugly and method
"reduce" is also not supported

Liongold will try to update JQuery later (hoping that this solves the issue)

This would not be an acceptable solution as cells marked with different
background colours should atomatically default the hyperlink text to the same
background colour; as EXCEL does. Your method is unacceptable as it would set
all background field colours to the same!

This is actually controlled by a separate appearance setting: Tools -> Options

machine that the link is being
viewed on. If you send the document to another user who has field shading set
to white, they'll see it in white.

--- Comment #2 from Lionel Elie Mamane ---
This looks rather unrelated to VBA, and unrelated to Database as such. I
understand/guess Diego is just pasting text (which happens to be basic code)
into the Basic IDE. The crash may be unrelated the Remote Desktop thing. We
need to find the thing, among all the setup, that is essential to the crash.

Diego:

1) Does it crash if you paste exactly the same text, but from:
   1.1) a *local* notepad
   1.2) a *remote* notepage

2) Does it crash if you paste exactly the same text in exactly the same way,
into the Basic IDE for a Calc document instead of a Base document?

3) Does it crash if you copy/paste a *different* text in exactly the same way,
say just a short string like "foo"?

4) Does it crash if you copy/paste the same text in the same way,
but from an Access on the same machine to a LibreOffice on the same machine?

It would be nice to have a backtrace indeed... the crash may be in the syntax
highligting code or something like that.

Yes - that works and it was as I described (ie Worked For Me too) - but
how did you know it was page 2 that was page 1 on sheet 2?
Try guessing how many pages precede the first page of sheet 3!

and - why does Page Preview say Page 1/2 when you actually exported Page
2 and got Page 1 of Sheet 2?

When I want to export all or any pages from sheet "N" I don't want to
have to work out how many pages are in sheets "1" to "N-1".
My point was that the page number relating to the current sheet to
export depends on how many pages would be generated by previous sheets
and when I am looking at a sheet and do Export why does everything get
exported?

# with tomcat7 I get an error

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81008] DOCX export: first and subsequent header problems

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81008

It looks like this is fixed by b4ccde72b8e2e45e7276d5b08b182495a1b1a617
(master) / bcbeac44ca54f41fb80a027214b9eb2ec1eb14dd (libreoffice-4-3)

Using the steps to reproduce, I tested that the bug is reproducible in
bcbeac44ca54f41fb80a027214b9eb2ec1eb14dd^ (commit before) and not in
bcbeac44ca54f41fb80a027214b9eb2ec1eb14dd.

This fix will be available in LibreOffice 4.3.2

2014-09-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I found, that searching and replacing content in a (uncertain where the limit
is) large number of cells, CALC v. 4.3.0.2 seems to go into an endless loop.
Quite annoying as I first thought it just takes some time and waited for the
program to finish the job...
Could it be that the list of replacement results (that i find useless anyway)
that would become huge, produces some overflow error?

Screen capture of corrupted screen for text too long.

When using LibreOffice Base, I tried to link up two tables and select all on
one side. The help text for the difference between left join and right join
are too long that they covered up the buttons below. See screen capture.

Confirmed:
Bodhi Linux 2.x
LibreOffice 4.3.1.2 release

Setting as:
New - confirmed
Minor - won't prevent high quality work but can slow you down (ie there is a
relatively straight forward workaround to just not hide cells)
Medium - users might not be aware until they've done quite a bit of work.

If this is a regression please add "regression" to keyword field and tell us
what version of LibreOffice did not display this problem. Thanks!

What would be better is if you just strip out the private data or create a new
really simple test case in Microsoft Office, saving it as a doc, reproducing
the same problem in LibreOffice, and then giving us both the doc and the odt
file of the new test case. We don't really accept private files - no way to
track, makes it a nightmare to get them to developers, most developers don't
want to be responsible for private documents, etc . . . etc . . .

Ah, ok. The original document was a DOC, which I received by e-mail. If you
want, I can send that one privately - it contains personal data. The one
attached has those manually removed by editing Content.xml, and was created by
opening the DOC in LO and saving as ODT.

I cannot confirm:
Bodhi Linux 2.x (built on Ubuntu 12.04)
LibreOffice 4.3.1.2 release

Please try the following:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

and try installing 4.3.

With three QA members now committing time and not being able to reproduce - I'm
afraid that this might be your computer environment causing something to happen
and therefore WORKSFORME. That being said, for now throwing in NEEDINFO - try
the above steps and if you still see the problem mark as UNCONFIRMED and we'll
see where to go from there.
