[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84263] New: compile issues with old Qt includes

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84263

  Priority: medium

Summary: compile issues with old Qt includes
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

Created attachment 106763

patch to fix Qt includes

I wonder how anyone could compile libreoffice with KDE4/Qt4 support on an
up-to-date installation. I had several compile errors because some Qt header
files (like QString) were not found, which was quite obvious as the proper
include paths were not set during compilation and the directory prefixes were
not used (example: use instead of ).

Additionally there was an include with wrong quotation (#include "QString"
instead of #include ) and also some old (deprecated) include file
names.

Fixing was quite simple, all affected files are under
libreoffice-4.3.1.2/shell/source/backends/kde4be/*, please find the patch in
the attachment...

my system:

- Gentoo Linux
- dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.5-r2
- kde-base/kdelibs-4.14.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84198] UI: make document modified status more obvious -- status bar

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84198

The big red X that appears in the menu bar when I start typing into a cell is
about 3.5 x 3.5 mm on my screen, about 18x18 pixels. It is huge. I don't
think I need to adjust my dpi settings. I do, however, think that the 1 x 1 mm
asterisk that denotes that a document needs to be saved deserves a size at
least as big as that big red X for cancelling an entry, something that pretty
much anyone would guess could be done by hitting the ESC key. (Granted,
perhaps that big red X is useful if you don't know you entered something, e.g.
by accident when you thought something else had focus.)

One might also ask why the big red X for cancelling an entry is in the menu
bar, while the tiny red asterisk for saving the document (or at least reminding
the eagle-eyed user to do so) is in the status bar. That seems inconsistent.

BTW, the dot pitch of the monitor in question is 0.27 /mm, which implies a dpi
of about 94 dpi. The Windows dpi is set at 100% for what the OS correctly
believes that monitor to be, which it calls 96 dpi. This yields good results
for almost all applications. (BTW, my claims of size of stuff on the screen
are from direct measurement with a ruler so are approximate. One could make
them more exact with the value of about 1/0.27 = 3.7 dots per mm, though it
gets tricky depending on dot layout.)

This entire bug needs clarification. Legal document the world over are reknown
for using highly specific styling that often break every other convention used.
The examples in comment 0 and comment 8 are explicitly NOT outline numbering,
which as the name suggests indicates exact position in a document. By all means
implement a new numbering scheme but label it "legal" or something similar,
rather than outline.

81592 isolated the issue of bitmap depth for raster preview images, or poor
vector fidelity in pstoedit WMF/EMF generated preview image of an EPS image.

While this issue 81497 is for loss of the EPS images vector detail when the
document is being rendered on a PS device. The EPS vector image is being
replaced by its lower quality preview.

Two completely separate issues in the code.

It's not actually intended as a duplicate. While the creation steps are nearly
identical, the other bug (84144) involved a single variable showing two section
opposite to their expected true and false state.

On the other hand, this bug (84148) involves two unrelated variables, in which
making a change to one variable impacts a section that is only supposed to be
affected by the unrelated variable.

I'm removing the duplicate. That said, if the two different behaviors are
caused by the same code and therefore you feel it really is a duplicate, please
go ahead and re-close, but also copy the symptom over to the other bug.

@Caolán, @Björgvin, *,

I am pretty certain this is the commit that breaks EPS use during PS printing.
Put in at the 4.2.4 build. But I am not sure that it has anything to do with
use of raster preview for the export filter to PDF--which predates this
considerably.

Have a look, affecting the DrawEPS in the vclprocessor2d.cxx code

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=3db00c554b38ee6c1b6e969768da53db4dc2f92a

Bit of "whack-a-mole" in that this change was made to fix bug 62038 -- lack of
EPS preview for Impress slide show.

In trying to help mitigate this (at least to make it easier for AppArmoring).
I was going to propose moving it to $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, /run/user/1000.
Unfortunately, that won't work because it's (at least on Ubuntu) default
mounted to noexec.

I'm considering moving it to /tmp by default. I don't quite see the point in
trying the home directory first. Any thoughts either way?

I agree that the track change comments lack visibility. I don't think adding
them to the hovering tooltips is the right way to address this since tooltips
are also not easily discoverable. My preference would be to put the comments on
the side with the regular comments when the document is in Show Change view.

Another option would be to make a track changes sidebar or vertical panel. This
could include all of the buttons from the toolbar plus a listing of the changes
and their comments in chronological order.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45243] : Allow writing in a read-only file (Yes, it's important!)

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Thank you for your responses.

(In reply to comment #6)
> I just realize you was reported many issues here. Should be 1 issue / report.
>
> There are some similar bugs regarding what you mentioned. Perhaps what you
> meant with your 2nd case is Bug 65498 or Bug 61356 ?

Those seem to be similar to, or the same as, mine. The thing is, though, I
don't know what issues are (internally) the same and what are separate.

So, let me rephrase what I (or we, who have submitted similar requests) wish,
in terms of the "behavior" of LibreOffice.

In my opinion, opening a read-write file and opening a read-only file should
result in only one or two differences.

1) When you start to "edit" (modify the contents of) a read-only file, a pop-up
would open, saying "Are you sure you want to edit this read-only file? [y/n]:"

2) When you try to wave into a read-only file, a dialogue would open, saying
"Do you really overwrite this read-only file? [y/n]:"

Otherwise, opening a read-only and opening a read-write file should be
indistinguishable (apart from the window title indicating "read-only"). I
don't think (1) is essential.

Regards,

Ryo

@Gerry - we prefer if people "do" instead of using words that honestly give us
NOTHING (literally absolute nothing) to help move us towards a solution.

So the options:
1. Fix it yourself;
2. Pay for a fix;
3. Find a friend/family/etc... who knows code to fix it;
4. Wait for a developer to fix it (volunteers).

Adding all that extra language doesn't encourage volunteers to help, doesn't
show that you're being part of the community, nor add a thing to the bug report
so it just clogs it.

Remember Libre is not limited to "free" - we have a community who tries to
support each other. If this is such a blocker for you - please sponsor a
developer to fix it (or of course fix it yourself)...or again, wait patiently
for a fix.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84258] New: Impress and Draw sharing code causing problems with icons and menus

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84258

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 84258
CC: s.mehrbr...@gmail.com
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Impress and Draw sharing code causing problems with
icons and menus
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: Inherited From OOo
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

As Impress and Draw share the same code base, they both utilize uno commands
like .uno:InsertPage and .uno:DeletePage which have the same icon in both apps,
which is a problem as the default icon looks like a page and in impress it
should look like a slide.

This problem also happens in menus and context menus as Draw has Insert > Slide
(bug 84208) and Impress has Format > Page (bug 84257).

And this also effects the Page dialog and the page tab in that dialog.

In the sidebar its written 'Master Pages'.

For me, ability to assign Basic macros to hyperlinks formatted as pushbuttons
in Calc, was an ultra nice feature!!
The buttons looked nice, and were easily scaled up with cell, and looked like a
part of the spreadsheet.
You could pass value to the macro function through hyperlink pushbutton also
The hyperlink buttons could be generated from a macros, and added a lot to
interactivity of the spreadsheets used as a frontend to relational database.

I am very miss this feature, and I am surprised that so few people request to
have it back.

> 2. some conditional format rules are not displayed (see attached pictures) -
> all cells with yellow background (H19, i25, J24..)
>
> conditional rule here is: cell value is =MIN(H$13:H$417) then use bold font
> and yellow background

You have 2 rules for the same range:
1st condition
-
cell value smaller or equal to =MIN(H$13:H$432)*1,1
 then use bold font

2nd condition
-
cell value is =MIN(H$13:H$417) then use bold font and yellow background

In LibreOffice, conditions are tested (and applied if true) *one* by *one*.
If cell value is equal to =MIN(H$13:H$417), this same cell value is inevitably
smaller then MIN(H$13:H$432)*1,1
So condition 1 is true → style for condition 1 is applied...

Conditions should be in reverse order.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 35146] copy-paste from InkScape pastes text instead of image on Linux

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35146

I confirm this but in a slightly different context: I was trying to copy a
graphic from gnumeric and paste it in LO on debian or ubuntu. The copied
graphic is pixelized, it does not use the svg format, which gnumeric support,
see:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=737132

It is true there is a workaround: saving to an svg file, and importing the file
in LO. But it is more convenient to use copy/paste, and actually this feature
(pasting a vector graphic) has been supported on MS office for about 20 years,
so for me this is a must-have.

The bug is fixed in that LibreOffice won’t create or update thumbnails for

Apparently not. I've tried several times and cannot get an example document

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81560] DATALOSS: date in calc cells change randomly

michael-...@fami-braun.de changed:

--- Comment #12 from michael-...@fami-braun.de ---
1/ How do you change date setting if the file is closed ?

I created (opened) a new file (not saved) and changed it then. The change shows
up in user/registrymodifications.xcu .

2/ where is random ? All changes are made by you, Calc does only what you asked
him to do.

I originally did what I wrote in steps to reproduce. Originally, I first had a
document created on another computer that showed up with wrong dates. Then I
found that even documents created locally showed wrong dates. After changing
the setting mentioned back to defaults, the issue was gone. But it could be
reproduced by the steps mentioned in "steps to reproduce". So I thought this
was an unacceptable issue with libreoffice.

I'm now facing difficulties to reproduce this even on the machine that
originally exhibited this behaviour (which does not always even have internet
access). So I don't know how to debug this further.

Regardless of the original issue, I find it very strange as a user that
changing that very setting changes the static! document content. I think this
is not easy to see as a user (when going through menu) and does not only affect
calculations as one could expect from menu structure.

3/ the origin date is saved in the content.xml if it is not the standard origin
date (1899.12.30). Open such a content.xml and search for "null-date".

thanks for pointing that out.

4/ when reading a file Calc converts dates to numbers (decimal) of days from
the null-date. It converts back to dates when formatting and saving.

I think it would improve user experience when changing that setting would not
alter static (non-calculated) content.

Set status to NEEDINFO. Please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once you have
provided requested informations. Thank you for your understanding.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83535] In Base all window titles and only the window titles are in Spanish instead of localization option setting

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83535

I did a clean installation both times. I also manually searched and cleaned the
registry after uninstalling to make sure there were no orphan links left
behind.

I downloaded LibreOffice_4.3.0_Win_x86.msi from the libreoffice.org site.

After uninstalling and reinstalling a few times, I verified that if I select
only the English (United States) user interface language pack during
installation, then the Base window titles are in English. But if I select both
English (United States) and Spanish user interface language packs, the Base
popup window titles are always in Spanish no matter what language is selected
in Tools > Options > Language Settings.

It appears that other components -- Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math -- change
to the selected language. Only the titles of the popup windows inside Base
appear to be broken.

There is only one profile on my workstation; but I am developing this database
to be used by other employees in my firm, some who speak Spanish as their
native language, which is why I had also downloaded the Spanish language pack
for testing.

Hi all.. Seems a duplicate to Bug 80849. Should be fixed in 4.2.7 & 4.3.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45243] : Allow writing in a read-only file (Yes, it's important!)

No. Sorry if ONE of my examples was invalid. But, my original request still
stands, I think. LibreOffice (at least before the fix) didn't allow many (if
not all) modifying operations if the opened file is read-only. That is
inconvenient.

I just listed two example where modifying the contents of a read-only file is
useful. (Apparently one of the two examples was invalid.)

Regards,

Ryo

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84248] New: FORMATTING: Allow borders & margins (top & bottom) on sections

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 84248
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Allow borders & margins (top & bottom) on
sections

Classification: Unclassified
OS: All

 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

It would be nice to be able to specify borders and margins (top & bottom) in
section. Like it's possible for a lot of text block (tables, text frames,
paragraphs, ...).

It would allow to specify for ex. space between two consecutives sections.
It require to modify the ODT specification which don't allow these attributes
on sections (margin-top, margin-bottom and border-*). In fact I don't really
understand why.

To work around this missing feature, I use text frames anchored "as character"
with 100% width of the body page. It works well but text-frames don't have the
same behavior in the flow across multiple pages.

Thanks

LibreOffice Start Center displays content from Password Protected documents

In LibreOffice Start Center, if a document with password protection has
previously been processed, part of its content will be displayed in a "preview
manner" as if it was unprotected.

I believe this behaviour is erratic and should a document is password
protected, no content should be visible in any case.

I have attached a PNG showing this behavour.

I have deleted the tag around the error position (2, 75100) - so you can now
open it. The error was about some special formatting.

When I open a big csv file about 500MB, and try to save as excel 2007 (xlsx),
calc grow fast on memory RAM, CPU almost 100%, status bar of saving task
doesn't change, all the system start to slowdown until it freezes completely.
It seems its trying to convert and compress the whole file on memory, and then
it writes the file. The process should be done on steps of smaller chunks of
the data.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84245] New: Business Card wizard alignment problem

2014-09-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84245

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 84245

Summary: Business Card wizard alignment problem
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: stewart.kl...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.1.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I am trying to create business cards using:
- Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit)
- LibreOffice 4.3.1.2 - Writer
- Avery Business Cards #8371 (10 - 2x3.5 cards - 2 columns, 5 rows on 8.5x11
sheets)

I go to 'File' - 'New' - Business Cards and click to start the wizard.

I finish creating the card and then synchronize the page. So far, so good.

Next, I print the page and find that the printing does not align vertically
with the Avery card sheet. Specifically, even though the Top Margin says 0.50"
in the setup, the actual margin printed is 1". Same on the bottom.

I cannot print the cards if they are not aligned with the Avery card sheet and
I cannot find a way to fix the problem manually.

Please help!

I have the same exact problem. Linked images disappear after save. This affects
Draw and Presentation but is OK in Writer. I found the way to reproduce it:

1. Download the attached files D1.odg, D1.odt, D1.odp and IMG_0570s.jpg into
the same directory.
2. Open D1.odg, the image should appear.
3. Move the image a little bit, press save, move it again, press save.
4. Close the file.
5. Open it again and the image has vanished. It can be fixed manually by
Edit/Links... as described earlier.

Notice in 3 that you need to save the file twice for the link to be corrupted.
After one save it seems OK.
The presentation D1.odp is affected in the same way but the Writer file D1.odt
works fine.
Maybe someone can make sense out of this.
