Changing the window manager to what? We detect various desktop environments and
select an appropriate VCL plugin for them. xmonad is probably using the "gen"
plugin (generic X). Change of WM could mean that, e.g., "gtk" is used instead.
So if the crash is in the plugin (most probably), it would of course go away.
Alternatively, can you still reproduce it by running

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice

from the command line?

German Description on how the original Document was created

Hi all,

I have add a german description on how the original Template (*.ott) of the
sample file was created. This may help to understand the basic Structures of
the document.

You have mentioned a lot of topics, witch may works wrong - one mein topic is
from my point of view:

The odt-file uses two pagestyle template (BK-1Seite, BK_Folgeseite) witch are
defined als Follower.

Both exports (doc and docx) could not handle this. In both cases the first page
will be renamed to "Standard", and it is used for all pages. That the reason
for the 7 cm header-space on page two.

The second page style is renamed two "Konvert1" - it is still present, but
unused.

Maybe that helps for analyse:)

Best regards
Thomas

Hello Alexander,

Thank you for submitting the bug. This isnt a bug because impress' default tabs
spacing is 2 inches and in order to preserve this tab size in a .ppt file, it
has to put them into the file, so that if you opened in up in powerpoint, the
file would appear in the same way. Powerpoint on the other hand has a default
tab spacing of 1 inch.

Hello Piet,

Thank you for contributing to the bug. Yes i can confirm that tabs are not
being saved correctly in ppt and being lost when saving to pptx.

sub menu buttons affected are circled

To reproduce the issue: Select text in document and click the tool bar arrow to
display the submenu for Font Color, Highlighting, or background color.

Problem:
The submenu fails to appear more than 50% of the time and sometimes requires 3
or 4 clicks before the submenu appears.

When the submenu fails to display, the Writer title bar text and buttons turn
gray. If you keep clicking, the menu will eventually appear and the title bar
text and buttons return to normal appearance.

Hello Hardy,

Thanks for reporting the bug. Unfortunately i'm unable to reproduce it in 4.1.6
or 4.3.2. Please try one of the more recent version of libreoffice and if this
still happens, please let me know. Ideally, if you can said in a video capture
of this happening, that would be helpful.

As you are a frequent file saver (i am as well), you can set libreoffice to
automatically save after a certain amount of minutes ( Tools > Options >
Load/Save > General > Save autorecovery information every X minutes ). You
might also like to get used to pressing Ctrl + S to save your document, so you
dont have to always move your mouse to the toolbar to save. :D

1. The images I put in my file tend to disappear when I close it and then

2. The same happened with comments I've been writing for several hours, and

won't loose my work. I tend to think I won't be able to go on this way for
long.
4. It regularly occurs that people can't open my file, which feels like the
Mac/PC incompatibility time.
3. I tried to update the software today, but repeatedly arrived on this page :

Hello sexytime124,

Thank you for submitting the bug. I think this might be a problem with your
graphics driver, so maybe try upgrading it and see if that solves it.

Regarding the 'Libre Office Fatal Error: bad allocation', if you can provide

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84462] [filesave]: docx Filter, doc-Filter and LibreOffice

PDF exports from MS Word 2007 & 2013 for both DOC and DOCX

Hi Terrence,

You humble me with your kind words. :)

Well there are a number of problems in the doc and docx exports, but the
biggest one with this sample file is that headers and footers are not being
preserved.

With the doc, the original document's page 2 header and footer appears on page
3, and page 2 has the header spacing of page 1 without any content and the
footer has the content from page 1.

With the docx, the original document's page 2 header and footer is lost, so
pages 2 and possibly 3 have page 1's header spacing without any content and
page 1's footer with content.

I think this bug should be changed to solve this issue and my tests were done
on master (2014-09-27) against office 2007 and 2013.

I've attached PDFs of both doc and docx exports rendered in Word 2007 and 2013
as the screenshots provided only show 2 pages when 3 pages are displayed in MS
Word. Another reason for attaching them is that exports from 2007 and 2013 are
different (primarily the docx).

contrived draw file expecting pixels as units

Problem description:
images embedded in Draw file not opening at correct scale

I've been working on adding OpenDocument draw compatibility to a program I'm
working on and have been adjusting files so that they open correctly in Draw.

What I've read about SVG says that if no units are specified then pixels (px)
will be assumed
http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/coords.html#ViewBoxAttribute

my test files are
testing22.odg
testing23.odg
(I will attach testing22.odg after submitting the bug report if allowed, it
appears I can only attach one file at a time)

both are the same except for one line in
content.xml
the testing22.odg specifies pixels "px"
the testing22.odg uses pixels but does specify "px", as follows:

Current behavior:
testing22.odg does not appear to work at all, the embedded images do not appear
to load
testing23.odg does work, but the embedded image is displayed at 0.8cm

(I've adjusted my code to convert pixels to cm for the purposes of
compatibility. I'm only writing here to make sure Draw is behaving according to
the standards, maybe I've made an incorrect assumption about how minimal I can
get away with my OpenDocument XML being.)

Expected behavior:
If I am interpreting the SVG specification correctly the XML above should have
resulted in the image in being displayed at the correct size and should not
have been converted into 0.8cm and the failure of my contrived file to load
might indicate that Draw is making some incorrect assumptions about units, and
falling back to something other than pixels when the units are not specified.

Hello

I am experiencing a problem where writer crashes every single time I attempt to
edit a word document that I created using Office 2003. This is a long all-text
file (62 pages). Once loaded, I usually switch to web view, then attempt to
make changes, and a few seconds later like clockwork the program crashes and
goes into recovery mode. Sometimes the recovery is successful, sometimes it is
not.

I don't have a problem with creating and editing new .odf files. Converting the
old .doc file to .odf does not help.

I have renamed my user profile as well as uninstalled and reinstalled Libre
several times.

I am using an Acer Aspire V5-572P-4429 laptop running Windows 8. Everything
else runs great on this computer and has for months. This is my only unstable
program.

Thanks.

Yes this dragged on more that it had to, but its a consequence of our text
based reality. :)

I've included a mockup of what the new dialog box can look like. I pulled the
text field found in the special (.uno:InsertSymbol) character dialog. I also
adjusted some shortcomings in the dimensions and alignments of the dialog which
seem to have happened after it was moved to the new dialog form.

Hi,

I did the following test in version 4.3.3.0.0+ under Ubuntu 14.04 64 bits:
- put 1 in A1
- propagate in A2 till A30
- in B1 put the formula = sum(A10;A20;A30)
The result is 60 as expected.

Remark: the default formula separator is the semicolon not the comma. Did you
modify this setting or is it a typo ?

s_aRegisteredVBAConstants in sfx2/source/doc/objxtor.cxx is never SET. A name
for an XInterface is searched for, but no XInterfaces are ever entered into
this map. If each Excel document is registered in here as "ThisExcelDoc", then
SetCurrentComponent()/lclGetVBAGlobalConstName() will set the GlobalUNOConstant
for ThisExcelDoc.

Alternatively, if the document had a 'ThisVBADocObj' property assigned as
'ThisExcelDoc', lclGetVBAGlobalConstName() might work. I don't see anywhere
where 'ThisVBADocObj'/UNO_NAME_VBA_DOCOBJ is assigned any value in the code.

So basically, nothing about the lclGetVBAGlobalConstName seems to function. It
is only used in objxtor.cxx, so all of this code can be removed I think.

Is it easy for you to work around the lack of ROWNUM()? Or do you have a more
capable database engine available?
may be able to give you some help.

I asked for an xls file with 6 postcities, but opening that file worked great,
its just the big files, containing 5000+ rows, that give this odd characters.

The csv above is what libreoffice saved after opening one of the "evil" files.

I guess his UI is swedish.

Hi Thomas, Terry,

Thanks for reporting and the good pictures Thomas.
It clearly is a problem with the filters.
Now, how to resolve this issue, is a different one.

Various aspects here:
1 - in designing templates for LibreOffice (OpenOffice previously) one could
better think of what works when saving as Ms x.
Using frames at the top, typically does that worse for me then using tables to
position elements.

2 - the issue that the page flow from OpenOffice/LibreOffice does not work in
MsOffice is wel known and reported quite often. Adding a hard return at the end
of page 1 before Save As does help...
Luckily since 4.0 (IIRC) LibreOffice does support first page and next pages
having different headers footers.

3 - Still of course there are things to improve in the filters. Despite what I
wrote in 1 and 2, some definitely good to have.
Now for convenience of people working in QA - recognising reported bugs - and
developers - working on one issue per time - it is necessary to have one issue
for one bug. So the problems needs to be split. Terry already did great work
there. Thanks :) This also makes it easier to find duplicate issues

4 - each separate reported issue could benefit from a test document that
focusses on that one single issue.

Maybe I did forgot something?
Again: thanks a lot,
Cor

Ah; you have to export SCROLL_RATE=100 as well or somesuch.
Re-adding the lock there appears to make life better; I've committed that to
master; thanks.
Really we shouldn't have the chart mutex locked while we're in SwapBuffers
AFAICS - it'd be the ideal time to re-build the chart model in another thread
then while the GL drivers are doing their stuff.

Then again - the new, faster Windows main-loop, my hope would be that we could
get a nice high FPS here without resorting to the over-complicated and fragile
threading.

2014-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84272

As written before: I think it's not a logic work flow that you copy fist and
then do not paste, but enter a cell in edit mode. So for that case, use ESC.
The feature is added since people know and appreciate it from Excel.
Where would you expect that warning? It's difficult to make it not disturbing,
maybe confusing. And in the end Ctrl+Z is your friend too.
Sorry, I'm not convinced.
It's easy enough to mark this new and enhancement, but looks as making wrong
expectations, IMO.
Cheers,

Hi,

I can reproduce the issue with LO 4.3.0. I cannot download the first file due
to an error so i've uploaded a new set of samples for test.

Case:
- In xls version
 * Coloumn B(filter) goes inactive
 * Data(Veri) row seems active but when you right click and Refresh cells
disappear and only one cell left which shows the total sum

- In xlsx version
  * Pivot table functionality disappears completely and cells behave as regular
cells.

Best regards,
Zeki

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72424] Writer document re-calculates spread of long table on opening, changing number of pages

2014-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72424

--- Comment #18 from Robinson Tryon (qubit) ---
My thinking is that, aside from functions such as RANDOM(), and given the same
hardware, OS, libraries, and build of LibreOffice, the layout of a particular
ODT is roughly deterministic. Or it should be.

When we tweak the parameters of this (or other) documents in LibreOffice, my
guess is that we're not able to completely capture all of those modifications
*exactly* and store them into the ODF file format. Maybe there are some
floating point numbers rounded off or etc. When the the file is reopened on the
same machine with the same exact copy of LibreOffice, we don't have the same
set of inputs to the function, and so our output is different.

So the important questions are:
- What information are we not storing accurately?
- Is there any information we're not able to store?

Hello Jay,

It seems to occur just with a particular document and it happens with release

For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and give it a new try?

Thomas,

Thank you for taking the time to report your problem and for sharing
your file with us.

Jay,

I am adding you tthe cc of this report because you are our expert on
compatibility with MS Word formats.

As I look at this report and the attachments, my first thought is that
it must be broken down into smaller reports before we can make
progress. But, a report for each thing I see seems extreme.

(1) Comparing the attachment "Reopen odt File - and original View." to
the attachment "Reopen doc-File in LibreOffice":

(a) Three lines of page heading on page 1 changed from full
justification to left justification.

(b) The inside address lost vertical space before.

(c) Page number at lower right of page 1 moved farther down and
right.

(d) Horizontal rule and remainder of tooting on page 1 moved up.

(e) Second page lost the logo.

(f) Text on page 2 moved down about 8 cm.

(g) On second page, the minimal footer is replaced by the bigger
footer from page 1.

(2) Comparing the attachment "Reopen odt File - and original View." to
the attachment "REopen docx file in LibreOffice":

(a) On page 1, most of the header--except for the logo--moved
down, becoming text boxes in the body of the page.

(b) Those text pages retain approximately their positions relative
to each other, but they are moved right on the page, perhaps
by the width of the page margin.

(c) Page 2 loses the logo from the page heading.

(d) The body of page 2 is moved down about 8 cm.

(e) On second page, the minimal footer is replaced by the bigger
footer from page 1.

(3) Comparing the attachment "Reopen odt File - and original View." to
what I see opening the the originzl .odt in the LibreOffice from
the daily dbgutil bibisect repository, version 2014-09-29:

(a) The inside address has acquired a blue background.

Advice welcome.

Terry.

Hello Jay,

Thanks for asking.
I had mainly the problem with 4.3.1.2 but it seems to me that it occurs less
with 4.3.2.2.
I have it only on 1 document.
I don't know exactly how to reproduce it.
It is often when I apply a Style (Heading 3) to a line of text, then the pop-up
shows and LibreOffice crashes.
