The machine I use for testing has sufficient memory (40% unused).
I feared that McAfee services could influence the behaviour, so I tested also
with these services stopped: same behaviour.
With mcAfee services started again and calc closed (quickstarter still active)
the outlook slowness was completely absent (i.e. I was stunned by the speed).

  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

If I select 4 sheets in a 19 sheet workbook, right click and select Delete
Sheet... and then select YES, Calc crashes. I have no idea what the limits are,
because if I manually delete all sheets singly until there are only 4 sheets
left and then try to delete 2 simultaneously, they are deleted without a crash.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85993] New: Crash when moving a worksheet to a new spreadsheet document.

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85993

Bug ID: 85993
Summary: Crash when moving a worksheet to a new spreadsheet
document.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@cox.net

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Starting with an existing workbook with 19 worksheets.
2. Create a new, blank workbook.
3. Switch to the existing workbook, right click on one of the worksheet tabs
and select Move/Copy Sheet...
4. Select the Action Move, the To document Untitled1, Insert before Sheet 1,
and leave the sheet name as-is.
5. Click OK.

LibreOffice Calc crashes, and when I restart, it must recover both documents. I
must copy the sheet to the new document, and then delete it from the old one,
to get the desired result.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85986] New: CELL Function does not re-evaluate a change in sheet name.

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85986

Bug ID: 85986
Summary: CELL Function does not re-evaluate a change in sheet
name.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@cox.net

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a spreadsheet worksheet named "MMM".
2. In cell B1 enter the formula:
=RIGHT(CELL("filename",B1),LEN(CELL("filename",B1))-FIND("$",CELL("filename",B1)))
The formula evaluates to MMM (the sheet name).
3. Copy the worksheet to the same workbook. LibreCalc names the new sheet
"MMM_2" and cell B1 on the new sheet evaluates to MMM_2 (the new sheet name).
4. Double-click on the new sheet tab and rename the sheet "HD". Cell B1 still
displays MMM_2, and entering something on the sheet to cause the sheet to be
recalculated does not cause cell B1 to be updated.
5. Copy Cell B1 to an empty cell on the same sheet. The copy evaluates to HD.
6. Repeat from step 4. as often as you like.

Saving, closing and reopening the workbook will cause CELL("filename",rc) to be
recalculated correctly.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85985] New: SUMIF Function does not evaluate blank cells against criteria.

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85985

Bug ID: 85985
Summary: SUMIF Function does not evaluate blank cells against
criteria.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@cox.net

Problem description: SUMIF does not evaluate blank cells in the criteria range
to either zero or false or "" (blank), so the only way to sum the values in a
range where the corresponding cell in the criteria range is blank is some form
of summing the entire range and subtracting the conditional sum of all the
values in the range where the corresponding cell in the criteria range is not
blank.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create 3 columns/ranges, "Units","Bought","Sold" (Number, Date, Date), for
example:
 Units | Bought |Sold
45 | 02/07/1996 | 12/03/1999
75 | 05/10/2007 |
33 | 12/22/2013 |
2. Total number currently owned units should be the total of Units that have no
date in Sold (108):
=SUMIF(Sold,"",Units)gives zero (if A1 is blank =A1=""returns TRUE )
=SUMIF(Sold,0,Units) gives zero (if A1 is blank =A1=0 returns TRUE )
=SUMIF(Sold,FALSE,Units) gives zero (if A1 is blank =A1=FALSE returns TRUE )
=SUMIF(Sold,,Units) (error expected but none returned)

SUMIF appears not to return a value to compare against criteria if a cell being
checked is blank. (I have not checked, but wouldn't be surprised if there are
other formulas with a similar problem.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85984] New: View selection / web layout/ print layout - not clearly indicated!

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85984

Bug ID: 85984
Summary: View selection / web layout/ print layout - not
clearly indicated!
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@xtronics.com

Created attachment 109072
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=109072&action=edit
print mode selected - can you tell?

This appears to have been reported before in 39511 - but perhaps not well
communicated. 39511 should be reopened.

Under View/Print layout or View/Web layout - both do the same thing. They
toggle between each other. The GUI interface fails to clearly show which mode
one is in - I did not realize the view mode was indicated at all until I was
detailing this bug. This is because there is a a very faint out-line that can
hardly be seen around the icon in the view menu - thus the confusion I see in
several bug reports. Could be OS or desktop dependent?

I've attached screen shots - this probably effects other settings as well.
Fixing the selected icon display will greatly improve the value of the bug
reports.

(for the record running KDE on a Debian box)

- this detail provides context to many of the bug reports about view selection.

I have caused documents to become modified by changing the view - anchors
shift. Do not shift back. I was hoping to find information in the bug reports,
but because the mode status is not clear - the bug reports are not useful.

The first step in fixing this is to provide a better indication of which mode
one is in.

The documentation is also wrong it states:
"Changing document views
Writer has three ways to view a document: Print Layout, Web Layout, and Full
Screen. To change the view, go to the View menu and click on the required
view."

This is not correct - there are 4 modes: web, print, web-fullscreen,
print-fullscreen.

This likely stems from Bug 81633 and is similar to Bug 85614. Can you please
attach a sample of one of your scrambled spreadsheets along with a description
of how to sort it?

JBF,
Do you need more test cases for Bug 85490?

I can confirm this in Ubuntu 14.04.1 64 bits with LO 4.2.7.2, following my
original description, or using the provided file, or following Andy's
instructions.
I tested with:
- using the zooming buttons in the upper toolbar;
- using the zooming buttons in the bottom status bar;
- using ctrl+scroll.

In every case, no scrollbars appeared, although I have to point out an
inconsistency: the first time I tried (following Andy's instructions), I DID
get the scrollbars... But I tried it a dozen times after (with new documents
too) and they never appeared again.

Very confusing.

I have this effect, too. My version of libreoffice is 4.2.7.2 on Ubuntu Linux.

This effect occurs, when inserting the 98 row of data. The original file had
117 data sheets, most of then were filled by links to internet data (tables). I
reduced the content as long as I could reproduce this error. The remaining data
is a single table with 3 data rows.

TESTING using LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha1 + Ubuntu 14.04

I see the "PoliformPag. " footer on pages 1 and 2, but not on
subsequent pages. Is that the behavior you see?

> 2. Table of contents is misplaced (appears on page 1 but should be on top of
> page 2).

The table of contents appears on page 2 for me. Perhaps something fixed since
LO 4.1?

> 3. Table of contents' numbers are stuck to titles (e.g. "1SCOPO" instead of
> "1 SCOPO") while in Word there is some space between number and caption.

I see a table on page 5 that (probably incorrectly) extends off the right-hand
side of the page.

Ruslan: I'm going to stick this bug into NEEDINFO status. Once you attach those
screenshots, please change the status back to UNCONFIRMED, and then we can
complete the triage of this bug.

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85214

Jonathan: Still not valid as its treating it as if & meant to run it in the
background as part of an asynchronous list. Its supposed to read it as
cd - >/dev/null 2>&1

It's bash shorthand. I'm surprised dash supported "cd -" as I don't think
that's posix.

Julien: I'm running Gentoo's sister, funtoo. At the moment, I'm doing a full
system recompile (not world, just system tools for now) to make sure there are
no mistakes on this end, and upgrading to a slightly newer GCC. This means all
the automake tools and such will all be rebuilt. Once this is done, I'll try
libreoffice again without changing the shell (still dash), and see if I can
track down which ./configure flags are causing the issue.

I don't believe Gentoo systems normally run automake, but its quite possible
that running it to rebuild the configure script could help. I think configure
is already made upstream, so Gentoo doesn't tinker with it, but I think autogen
may actually be the issue after researching this. I think if autogen is run
with a shell that excepts bashism, it generates a configure that does as well.
I have to confirm this. The recompile may take quite awhile, but I keep you
posted as to what I can find out so that you have all the information you need
to track this down.

My computer automatically upgraded from 4.2.6 to 4.2.7 since it's supposed to
be a "stale" release with only security and bug fixes. For some reason, the
perfectly good sorting was changed to one that is scrambling users
spreadsheets. As I've been saving over my old spreadsheet, now I've lost all my
work for the week. It's very unprofessional to make a change like this to the
stable line.

This release should be pulled from the download site and replaced with 4.2.6
until you can straighten out your sorting bugs.

This fails when the AbsolutePath function attempts to run the following line
(line 75 of configure.ac):

  cd - &> /dev/null

This code did not work in dash, as "&>" is not valid in POSIX sh. It ended up
causing the code following to run in the external tar directory, which is not
writable by the user running the build under this build system (instead of in
the source directory, which is).

After updating dash to a later version, dash now parses that line as two
commands:
  cd - &
  > /dev/null

This is valid, but does not send the output to /dev/null as expected.

Bug ID: 85980
Summary: request: Reminders: key/button to set/unset,
key/button to goto next/prev, color Reminder locations
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium

  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m8r-uxb...@tradermail.info

Problem description:
LibreOffice writers has a limited line bookmark feature called reminders
(access and set them through Navigator window).

Enhancement request:
Make reminders mimic how line bookmarks work in coding text editors.
1. One hotkey and button to set/unset a reminder at the current curser location
2. two hotkeys and buttons to navigate to next/previous reminder
3. colorize reminder locations, either by coloring the whole line or by a color
blob in the left margin at that location.

@Ant:
Thank you very much for your positive attitude towards a retest.
I raised this question, because I can't test it ... it is just hope that it was
maybe resolved by another patch not related to this bug report. Due to the
fact that XP is no longer supported by MS I fear that this bug report could
maybe stay open for a longer time.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85945] Improving the File menu

2014-11-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85945

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1)
> @Jay, *,

Hi Stuart,

> Feels kind of uncomfortable having the Close button so disjoint from the
> Open button--these are all actions applied to the current document.

Most of the items in the menu relate to the current document. Doesnt really
make sense to have the close button in a section of save buttons.

> The Export actions should be with the Save actions. Not sure bringing the
> Email button up out of Send is useful use of menu space.

Yes export and save actions are similar, but each deserve their own section,
primarily because there are so many save actions. The 'document as email'
button was previously in the toolbar and it would be useful for those looking
to access this feature to easily know where it is in the menu.

> And, where does the Manage templates go? A new tab on the SideBar?

File > New > Templates.

(In reply to A (Andy) from comment #2)
> From my point of view the "Reload" and "Versions" should also not be between
> the Save and Export section, but I have unfortunately also no idea where it
> could be better be placed.

I had thought to move 'Reload' and 'Versions' into the save section, as
'Reload' reverts the document back to its original state, which people would
normally like to do rather than choosing to save, while 'Versions' allows you
to save multiple versions of a document inside the same document, so it is a
save related action. But with reload being no different then closing the
document without saving changes and reopening it and versions not working on
all document types, it is less useful to move them higher than where they are
presently.

> Regarding the close button I am not yet sure, because I have pros and cons.

Closing a document and closing the entire application are suitable to be in a
section of their own. This is no different to have an 'X' on the right side of
the menu bar to close the current document and another 'X' in the title bar to
close the application. The other alternative is to move close to the bottom of
the new/open section, as i've seen some applications do it this way (IBM
Symphony, WordPerfect, Word 2003).

Michael: in such case when reporter has no time or doesn't want to test (no
judgement here, if AOOo works better for him/her, I can understand easily),
what should we do with the status of the bug?

We have hundreds of developersagain, these comparisons are utterly useless.
I recommend that if one more QA person disagrees with reporter that we close
this as WONTFIX and if it's reopened againwe can take the appropriate
steps.

Last time I accidentally set to NEW which was wrong, pushing back to
UNCONFIRMED as so far there is 1 person (the reporter) in favor, and everyone
else against or very hesitant.

A(ndy), AOO has no problems! LOO has the problem. I can try again, but I need
time (too BUSY). Like I said, I doubt it will work. Its problem is old and was
never fixed for me. It is probably just my old XP Pro SP3 installation. :(
