Summary: writer: DOCX Footnote format problem - big spacing
between lines
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.0.beta1
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Original docx file, created with MSOffice 2013

When I import a DOCX file with footnote, in writer the footnote formatting is
wrong. Writer insert big spacing between lines, and change the font size from
10pt to 11pt.
I attached the original docx file.

Just to be sure, when you say page up and page down you mean the keyboard keys
right?
I wasn't able to get orca completely silent as you describe in step 3 actual
results. But that might be due to different versions of LibreOffice or orca. I
can however see the invalid messages with the listener.
One thing that strikes me is that when using the page down key and the cursor
does not have anything to land on, for example between to pages it doesn't even
try to find something to land on. This is really not good from an accessibility
point of view. When this happens I suppose that object_state_changed invalid is
correct in this situation, however, it would be better to find a valid cursor
position, preferably in the direction that your moving.

There is something funny in the pagination. It opens up saying it's 43 pages.
When scrolled to the bottom, the last page is 41 and the page count updates
accordingly. Scrolled back up and then down again, now it's 40. Repeated
rescrolling doesn't affect it.

Regarding steps 1 2, there is no drawing on page 4, but page 3 and 5.
Inserting deleting those 6 blank lines does not do anything bad.

Setting to UNCONFIRMED.

The spellcheck is complete, rather than flagging an error.

To reproduce, change default language to any language you do not have the
dictionary installed for, and run spellcheck.

It would be much more sensible if spellcheck flagged the fact that the relevant
dictionary is not installed and it cannot check the spelling, rather than
acting as if it has checked the spelling and found no errors.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86386] A better Mid-function

(In reply to Robinson Tryon (qubit) from comment #4)

As Raal points out, the Mid function is defined in some OASIS docs covering
the ODF spec, so changes should go up to them. That being said, it seems
pretty tough to just go suggest something to the OASIS ODF TC,

Oh. I see.

I'm not opposed to being referred to the proper addressee, just don't know how
to communicate with them. That's assumed they let me at all.

However I'm not sure if OASIS is concerned here. I'm talking about the Mid
function in BASIC. Is it necessarily bound to the MID function used in Calc
documents?

 so I'm not
opposed to some conversation here about whether this is a good idea or not,
and what specific changes might be helpful.

As I already admitted introducing a negative start might in theory break
existing code. However there seems to be nothing in the definition which tells
what to do with negative length. So of course whoever implemented the current
behaviour was well within his rights. Actually he could have tried to start a
game of nethack. ;-) http://everything2.com/title/%2523pragma However one might
move beyond this point and start to make something potentially useful of it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61380] REPORTBUILDER: Report Builder crashes when attempting to reposition and modify field description in the body of the report.

2014-11-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61380

--- Comment #7 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk ---
This bit me on the bum again on Thur night when using production release 4331
on Mac OSX Yosemite. I had forgotten about it.

Basically, repositioning a grouped oject field and corresponding label from
its default position using drag and drop will cause LO to hang on OSX.

The reason this is at all necessary, apart from being a desirable
functionality, is that the default positioning of the grouped object when
dragging a field from the Add field dialog window is to put the label about
an inch vertically under the corresponding data field. This behaviour is, of
itself, really annoying (there might already be a bug report somewhere for
this, I don't remember), which means that the user then has to move either the
grouped object to the desired position in the report, or else has to enter the
grouped object and then move one or the other of the label or data field to the
desired position (usually the label). Whilst this works for the first few
fields added to a blank report, adding further fields and then attempting to
move them causes LO to hang and then crash. The reason it hangs first for
seemingly ages on OSX is because when an app crashes in this way, the built-in
OSX system crash reporter samples the call stack to obtain a trace.

Sample xlsb file with failed formulas

Hi all,

When I open the attached xlsb file, the cells which are defined as formula are
missing. (These are in columns E, F and G in the attached file). When I open
the same xlsb file in Microsoft Excel, it's ok.

I tried several versions of Libreoffice (4.2.7, 4.3.4, 4.4.0 beta1 and the
latest nightly build) but it's all the same.

Thanks.

Oh f*! What nonsense did I just write here?

Well. Mid (i.a. the BASIC function) does not conform to OASIS MID (i.e.the Calc
function) definition.

According to OASIS

If Start 0, it returns an Error.

However

 Print The Mid-function is Mid(quite ok., -1)

doesn't.

Hope i got this right now.

could well be that the LO production build is made with the libraries from the

Hi Tor,

It seems to me a regression of 84272d11. Previously we were writing long to the
file, so the 32-bit version wrote 32-bit values (represented in settings.xml as
int), and the 64-bit version wrote 64-bit values (long in settings.xml), so
there was no problem in reading this back to long on the same platform. But at
least since 84272d11 we're writing 64-bit on all platforms, because that's what
convertTwipToMm100 returns (see SwView::WriteUserDataSequence). So we have a
problem reading this back to long (in SwView::ReadUserDataSequence) on 32-bit
platforms, because the = operator of Any doesn't handle 64-to-32 bit
conversion.

HR department calc sheet

The attached document is a complex calc sheet used in our HR department.

From my investigation and kendys commends, it seems at least OOo 3.2.1 has been
writing wrong cached values, as there are some xml arguments of:

  office:date-value=1899-12-30

in the document.

As it's in German and was possibly generated using an even older OOo version,
just a usage howto:

1. Open the document.
2. Locate the wrong date in the lower right corner of the first sheet:
12/30/1899
3. Locate the date the calculation is base on in the middle of the first sheet:
Stufenlaufzeit ab 10/01/2013 and change it to force reevaluation.

After recalculation the sheet is correct.

Reproduced in Windows by selecting the numbers in C-E columns (with the empty
column in between). Only the numbers in C are indented.
Sheet: Communautés_espagnoles.

Yet, in Linux, if I first select all the three columns and set right alignment,
indenting happens correctly.
If I don't set it and simply start indenting right away, they indent correctly
once, but then they start moving to the right.

Either in Linux or Windows, If I do from scratch and type in several numbers
per column, align right and then select the three columns (same with only two),
only the numbers in the topmost cells get indented.

So yeah, it seems quite wonky - NEW.

Reproduced partially. The vertical space of row 6 gets smaller when pasted to

If I redo it from scratch in Calc, the problem is reproduced when setting the

However, if I resize the row height with the mouse to 0,05 (a bit fiddly) and

does this problem still happen on current master or current release branches?

as the documentation says, the --enable-headless option is Work in progress,
use only if you are hacking on it. Not related to the --headless option.

this problem will certainly not be fixed for a old and unsupported branch like
libreoffice-4-1.

btw on current master --enable-headless was renamed to --without-x.

--- Comment #2 from Michael Stahl mst...@redhat.com ---
this is an old report; there were some fixes to firebird driver memory
management recently, and for me all unit tests passed with clang address
sanitizer a week ago so presumably this is fixed.

btw it's best to report test failures/crashes/valgrind errors on the mailing
list or IRC, then you can get much faster help to fix the problem yourself.

 Created attachment 110056 [details]
Video clip of how to generate the problem.

I can reproduce what happens in the video with attachment 102357. If I observe
the edges of the two shapes, after a save reopen they move away from each
other a bit.
The same drifting apart happens, if the shapes are pasted into a Writer
document which is then saved reopened.

Set to NEW and tweak severity per

update sifr icons for next and previous element

Open writer, and (on OS X) press cmd + f to open search.

The Find Next and Find Previous icons have already been updated.
Next Element and Previous Element still uses a non Sifr-icon.

Let's replace those arrows with the nice Sirf icons for a more consistent UX.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.4.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium

  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rich...@all-the-johnsons.co.uk

When I used LibreOffice under Windows 7, you could choose which particular
program you wanted to use through the start menu - plus the main program. Under
Mac OS X, you can only use the main program and choose your program there. For
an improvement idea, in the next update, could you try to put all the separate
programs in a folder, like Microsoft Office for Mac 2011? This would make it
easier to use LibreOffice. Thanks.

--- Comment #1 from Jan Holesovsky ke...@collabora.com ---
Would be great if you could provide a patch for that. How to do that:

- got to opengrok.libreoffice.org
- type Next Element (with the quotes) to Full Search:, and office* (without
quotes, but with the asterisk) to File Path:, and touch [Search]
- click the 2326 value xml:lang=en-USNext Element/value in the result,
and search around that what is the .uno: command for this (it is above the
text) - in this case it is .uno:ScrollToNext

This way you know you have just found out what the icon for this Next Element
is, because it is a lower-cased version of that; so it will be
lc_scrolltonext.png for the large icon, and sc_scrolltonext.png for the small
one.

Now you can similarly find out what is the icon name for Find Next (I'll use
findnext_or_how_exactly_it_is_called.png) in the late text :-)

When you have both of them, it is enough to add an entry like

lc_scrolltonext.png lc_findnext_or_how_exactly_it_is_called.png
sc_scrolltonext.png sc_findnext_or_how_exactly_it_is_called.png

to

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/icon-themes/sifr/links.txt

[this is a file that handles the non-existing icons that should reuse other
existing ones]

To commit / push that, you can do yourself following the:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/gerrit/setup

Thanks a lot!

Simple sheet that reproduces the bug

In a spreadsheet with 2 sheets, the first is the database (source) and the
second is for sorting as you wish (called references)

The second sheet makes references to the first sheet - all ok.

Now, try to delete some entries in the references sheet and them sort it. Its
all broken!

I've created a simple example which demonstrates it:

id, name, age in the source sheet

try referencing and sorting it on the references sheet and you will see.

Thanks for your comments

(In reply to mabramux from comment #2)
 Analysis:

 There ist a option in LO_INSTALL_PATH/share/registry/main.xcd (e.g.
 /opt/libreoffice4.1/share/registry/main.xcd) to change the standard
 behaviour of recovery while logout.

 Option is called DocumentStoreUIEnabled

Thanks for this information. Is this actually selectable via GUI?

If the value for this option is set to true, every time on logout a dialog
appears, which ask the user, if he want to save his canges (of course only
if he didn't do so before)

If value is set to false, no dialog appears on logout, but libreoffice is
creating a recovery file for each open document in
 USER_HOME/OOO_USER_CONFIG/user/backup/ (e.g.
 ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup/)

Name of recovery file usually is something like untitled-0.odt,
 untitled-1.odt ...

You can change the Recovery-Path in the options menu of LO.

I just tried to reproduce it again. One time on login (out of 30+ times) I got
a LO error message, that it couldn't restore the documents from
/var/tmp/l*.tmp/*.odt, as this directoy was gone. And one time I had the state,
that there were documents in /var/tmp/l*.tmp/*.odt and there weren't any
documents saved to ~backup and it restored them correctly. All other times LO
restored the documents from ~backup. I also changed the SM exclude settings to
no avail.

So these kind of problems happens much more rare then before, when I could
reproduce them reliable. And LO should generally have no roaming problems on
Linux. I have no idea what actually changed since the report - too many
variables. There might be a race between saving to /var/tmp/tmpdir and
~backup, but I simply don't know.

In the end I'm currently not able to reproduce the bug reliably and will close
it.

I confirm this bug on Ubuntu 14.04 and I the confirm workaround from Federico
Kereki to work.

From the comments it doesn't seem clear who should fix this bug. Are we sure
about which component is failing?

If nothing is lost from using

unset XMODIFIERS

should libreoffice ship with this on the startup script?

If this is fixed on 4.3.3.x, how did it get fixed? Did libreoffice fix it or
will it be broken again once it is packaged by the distributions?

I'm reopening this since it is a serious issue that needs to be clarified.
