I agree it should be improved. Because I don't know the meaning of the images
from memory the images have currently no real meaning for me. Therefore, to
have a tooltip would be very good. But for this we would also need an image
for the start With previous.

Maybe, it could also be good to have an order number.

Furthermore, I think it would be very good to have the effect name, because
currently you would need to press Modify Effect button to see it (the image
shows only the category, but with no tooltip, therefore little meaningfulness).
In Bug 87813 Jay also proposes to add the category and effect name list boxes
into the Sidebar, which I like. This would also be very good in this case,
because if you click on an effect then not only the category image but also its
name and the effect name could be shown in the bottom as it also already done
in the case of how the animation starts.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87931] New: EDITING: Can't undo header or footer deletion and can't protect them against mistakes

2015-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87931

Bug ID: 87931
Summary: EDITING: Can't undo header or footer deletion and
can't protect them against mistakes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jean-francois.nifenec...@laposte.net

When a page has a header/footer, the user may delete it but can't revert back
after deletion.
This is annoying when using templates because these header/footer can't be
protected. Thus a deletion by mistake, which is really easy using the on-screen
menu (even though there's a warning), forces the user to restart from scratch.

The solution would be to allow to undo the deletion and/or propose a page
header/footer locking option. The second has my preference.

I agree, the text button could be replaced by an intuitive image (like in the
attachment of Bug 87813).

@Jay: But, the Sidebar would stay in its width if the list boxes would be added
as proposed in Bug 87813 (because of the longer effect names and the
translations)?

Hi, as a testament that the document modified status needs to be made more
obvious, I can tell you I had to google for it to know where/what to look for.
Luckily first hit is this bug report :)

So yeah, I don't really care how, but definitely please do something about
this. Personally I never really cared much until my parents asked me how they
can know the document is modified. So I had to come with an answer, right? ;)
Most people have indeed the reflex to look at the titlebar for .. 'something',
but if you know of a better mechanism that is as discoverable, please go ahead.

cheers
matthias

Another recommendation for display of 'full path' in filename field (as a

If space is too limiting perhaps it could be done in a way similar to URL
flyovers -- i.e., full path displayed only when mouse pointer is moved over the

Reinstalled v4.3.5.2 over v4.2.8.2 and problem now appears resolved.
Did not need to rename LibreOffice directory profile.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87948] New: Involuntary copy and paste when selecting multiple form controls

2015-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87948

Bug ID: 87948
Summary: Involuntary copy and paste when selecting multiple
form controls
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: byrn...@harte-lyne.ca

When attempting to additionally select multiple text boxes using cmd+shift to
select only the control from controls grouped with labels frequently the
selection is interrupted by an involuntary copy and paste or cut and paste of
the previously selected controls.

For example, given three label/control groups:

lbl-1+ctl-1 lnl-2+ctl-2 lbl-3+ctl-3

When I use shift+command+left mouse-click in an attempt to add ctl-3 to a
selection that already includes ctl-1 and ctl-2 I sometimes have both ctl-1 and
ctl-2 moved or copied to a form location on or below ctl-3.

lbl-1+ctl-1 lnl-2+ctl-2 lbl-3+ctl-3
ctl-1ctl-2

This occurs whether the onboard trackpad is enabled or disabled or whether the
mouse is wired or wireless.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67870] Writer doesn't remember non numeric zoom factors in .doc files

2015-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67870

Created attachment 111623

zip of many doc files with various zoom levels.

Tested Word 2003 and 2013. Both save zoom info when exporting to .doc files,
using zoom percent calculated for all types (text width, page width, whole
page, many pages.) Default page size zoom of 100% is also saved. So,
initializing the zoom to 100 for all .docs is compatible with MS Office.

Word 2013 does NOT honor the zoom type OR zoom factor when opening .doc files.
It opens all .doc files in 100% zoom.

I was wrong when I said that .doc does not have a spot to save the zoom type.
Testing shows that word 2003 can properly restore text width and page width
settings from documents authored on 2013.

sal_uInt16 zkSaved : 2;// document zoom type: 0 percent, 1
whole/entire page, 2 page width, 3 text width/optimal

Suggestion:
In the navigator, it would be nice if we could edit the name of any object
(title, picture, table, etc) more easily, by clicking on it on pressing F2
after selecting an item, like if we want to edit the name of a file in Windows
Explorer.

Honestly, I still cannot get it to work as I would… If Italian is selected as
Locale setting there's no way to get a period as separator, regardless of
Same as locale setting checked or not. On the other hand, if English (USA) is
selected as Locale setting there's no way to have a comma as separator…

Using LO 4.3.5.2 on Mac OSx 10.10.1 with System Language set to Italia and
period as decimal separator. Please let me know if I can provide additional
information.

--- Comment #12 from Tomaz Vajngerl qui...@gmail.com ---
We already use svg for some things - I would just take a look at SVG 1.1 filter
[1] for filters and compare if they cover everything (I think they do). With
feColorMatrix for example you can do anything you want with colors which covers
all the color modes (and more) and feConvolveMatrix should cover most of our
Bitmap filters.

Also consider that we would need to support this for SVG sooner or later.

In my opinion, the Automatic Color button inside the new color picker is not
intuitive, that it, it is not obvious that it is a button where we can click
on. Suggestions: (1) Make a box around the button to make more obvious that it
is a button; (2) Show a box with the real color next to the Automatic
label; (3) Put the button on another position or make it smaller, maybe at the
right side of the title of the color picker window.

It appears from

eliminating.

(BTW, I notice that references inside names are NOT adjusted when rows/columns

Created attachment 111606

screenshot IE vs LO

tested under Win8.1 x64

inserting that .svg using the Insert/Image from File menu in LibO Writer
results in upside down and mirrored image. see screenshot.

issue present is LibO 4.3.5 and recent 4.4.0.0 alpha and in older releases too
(tested up to 4.0.4) but not present in 3.6.7 where the image is correctly
rendered

hence this is a 4.0.x regression.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87933] Easier visibility of automatic page breaks

I agree the visibility could be improved.

I am still a little bit undecided, but currently I personally would as a
standard tend more to the proposal 1a to have not too much maybe irritating
colours in the normal view, although you can of course change the colour in the
TOOLS - OPTIONS menu, so that the colour can be changed easily.

Couldn't source bisect this because builds in the bibisect range are
mysteriously non-functional

However, from reading the commit messages, the below looks like an extremely
likely suspect:

commit 087a79db1272858f107656c5ca3c6efb45680986
Author: Kohei Yoshida kohei.yosh...@collabora.com
Date: Tue Apr 15 20:47:37 2014 -0400

fdo#75665: Truncate string when clipped on screen.

This improves performance of text layouting by HarfBuzz for very long
strings.
HarfBuzz's layout algorithm appears to be more expensive than ICU's.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86675] Bad-quality antialiasing for PNG images

2015-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86675

--- Comment #15 from Tomaz Vajngerl qui...@gmail.com ---
Ups.. I commited a fix under fdo#82870 and not this bug as I intended. Still
this requires an explanation as it doesn't actually fix this or fdo#82879 bug.

There indeed was a bug in scale super which made bilinear scaling into
nearest neighbor like scaling introduced in [1] but in a later commit [2] we
reverted the fix that pre-scaled the images with our built-in scaler - instead
of that a fast native nearest neighbor scaler is used. So indeed this is the
issue Adolfo was talking about which now makes this bug a duplicate of [3].

I fixed the issue with super scaler in master by first reverting [2] and
looking for the cause of the low quality.

fdo#82870 is also a duplicate of this and [3] bug..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87865] EDITING: Calc crashes when using VLOOKUP function

--- Comment #10 from Alan Whiteley a...@aw2.org.uk ---
Thanks for trying. The instructions to reproduce are complete. Not sure what
the previous commenter means by profile.

I have tried reinstalling v4.3.5.2 and get the same error.

I have tried some other scenarios, e.g.:
1. In cell E2 type =LOWER( and press left arrow to move to (and select) cell D2
2. Calc crashes
So, the error is not specific to function VLOOKUP.

Other non-function related scenarios work, e.g.:
1. In cell E2 type ABCa nd press left arrow to move to cell D2
2. Calc okay

Could it be the en-GB language pack I also have installed?
As functions are key to my use of Calc, I may have to look for alternatives
now.

Sounds like bug 76238 has proposed a similar remedy. Perhaps one of these
two should be closed as a dupe of the other?

  Status - NEEDINFO

I'm fine with that solution, not sure which one to keep open though..

Bug 76238 is older, has more comments, and is already triaged to NEW, so that
one seems like a reasonable choice, even if this bug is a bit more targeted to
the specific problem.

Status - RESOLVED DUPLICATE

Feel free to make a comment on that bug adding some of the links you provide
below; it's very helpful to know that this is a common problem affecting
multiple people.

(In reply to Doug from comment #1)
In addition to the repainting bug, dragging columns to right side does not
actually move columns. Arrow animation appears as if this is intended
functionality (and it would make sense) but only click and drag to left
succeeds in moving columns on query builder grid. Nothing happens when
column dragged to right. Problem encountered OpenSuse13.1/LO Base 4.1.6.2
 and Windows7/LO Base 4.3.0.4.

Please create new bug for this issue. I can confirm dragdrop problem in right
direction wit LO 4.3.5.2, Win7.

Zip-file with Writer-document and one image. Put cursor at the end and add
image ...

Seems the description is too complicated.
So I added another attachment. It contains a Writer-document and one image
(p3.png).
1. Open wirter document.
2. Set the cursor at the end of the text on the page.
3. Insert → Image → From File : 3.png

The second image in the Writer-document will be lost.

You could see the frame at the bottom of the document when using the navigator.
The frame seems to be empty. A click on the frame and you could see in the
properties of the image there should be the image inside the frame ...
