[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88225] New: Formatting of Footnotes

2015-01-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88225

Bug ID: 88225
   Summary: Formatting of Footnotes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: karlowski.na...@gmail.com

When a (.docx) file is opened with LibreOffice and it contains footnotes, they
have huge gaps in between them, making the footnotes take as much as half the
page in some cases; this is a formatting bug, because when NEW documents are
created using LibreOffice, there spacing in-between the footnotes is normal.

I just attached a variation of the repro file that uses the Arial font as
default font. This causes the same behavior for me, i.e. it should be
independent of the font set as default in the .rtf file (as long as it differs
from LibreOffice's Default Font).

Additional information:
I can see this behavior with LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 as well.

UTF-16 is not an "installation default". In fact, in 4.3.5 the encoding
defaults to UTF-8 even if system encoding is UTF-16 (Windows). The only way to
make an encoding stick is to select it explicitly. The easiest way is not to
touch the encoding selection at all and rely on detection--that works fine for
UTF-16/UTF-8 anyway.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55364] Bundled Extensions create huge amount of files in appdata (slows roaming profiles)

2015-01-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55364

Stephan Bergmann  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED
 Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME

--- Comment #5 from Stephan Bergmann  ---
* Extensions can contain help data for various languages. For bundled
extensions in Windows installation sets, any per-language help data is not
factored out into language-specific language-pack or help-pack .msi files, but
is contained in the main .msi file.

* Extensions can contain help data either in raw or pre-processed form. If and
only if the data is in raw form, during extension installation (i.e., during
first start for bundled extensions) will LO write (potentially lots of)
processed files into the UserInstallation's
extensions/bundled/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.help.PackageRegistryBackend/
tree.

* I checked with current
,
and its two bundled extensions that contain help data (nlpsolver and
wiki-publisher) both contain it in pre-processed form. So at least with that
version the UserInstallation's
extensions/bundled/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.help.PackageRegistryBackend/
directory will only contain a single small backenddb.xml file. (And the
UserInstallation's extensions/bundled/ tree gets freshly regenerated as soon as
the user starts a new LO version for the first time, so it should not
accumulate cruft from old LO versions that potentially contained bundled
extension help data in raw form.)

* So I assume that LO 3.6.1 (the version this issue got reported against)
contained raw help data, and that got changed meanwhile. So closing as
WORKSFORME for now. Feel free to re-open if problem still persists after all.

* For LO 4, the UserInstallation's path on Windows has changed from
...\LibreOffice\3\user to ...\LibreOffice\4\user. Installing and running LO 4
will create a new ...\LibreOffice\4\user tree (migrating data from an exisiting
...\LibreOffice\3\user tree, if any, on first start), but will leave the
...\LibreOffice\3\user tree alone. So after successful migration to LO 4, any
...\LibreOffice\3\user tree can savely be removed manually from AppData to
avoid performance problems like the one described in comment 0.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88228] New: make animations like styles

2015-01-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 88228
   Summary: make animations like styles

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: martin.tlus...@gmail.com

I know this would probably be a major change, but it would be great to be able
to save my specific settings to a animation, so I could reuse it on another
object. It could be done like a hierarchical style list (similar to paragraph
styles), where my custom settings all depend on the specific built-in
animation.

Right now it is very cumbersome to apply the same specific settings to a large
amount of objects. For example, I want 30 images to pop up and disappear right
after each other with a delay of 0,20 seconds each. For this I have to
right-click on each and every object and change settings. It would be much
nicer to create a "animation style" and then apply it to all the objects with
just one click.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88230] New: cleanup solar mutex yielding ...

2015-01-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 88230
   Summary: cleanup solar mutex yielding ...
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

We often want to drop the recursive solar mutex something like this (from the
Vista file-picker):

static void lcl_sleep( ::osl::Condition& aCondition,
   ::sal_Int32   nMilliSeconds )
{
sal_uLong nAcquireCount = Application::ReleaseSolarMutex();

... do something slow ...

Application::AcquireSolarMutex( nAcquireCount );
}

however - this is a bit ugly - we should instead use:

include/vcl/svapp.hxx:class SolarMutexReleaser

which is also exception safe; and just 1x line ;-) so:

{
 SolarMutexReleaser aReleaser; // drop solar mutex

if you do:

git grep -3 AcquireSolarMutex

you can see a load of places to cleanup here.

Thanks !

Encountered the same problem with my research data with the default language
(german) but using english US it works.

Regardless of me getting it to work it is a strange bug and I wonder why it
just converts some numbers wrong.

The problem with this bug is that csv is the most common way to exchange big
piles of data – because every statistical tool can read them correctly. Taking
premise ob big piles of date in my example file I have 15000 rows of real data
and there are just 30 cases that are obvious wrong. You have to be lucky to
find that when viewing your data – so many people wont even notice that the
import does wrong stuff.

Until there is a fix there we have to consider every scientific research using
LO calc (especially coming from German speaking countries ) faulty.

Accent symbol - common in russian language symbol to differ words with the same
writings, but different pronouciation.
LO reads accent symbol repfectly, if you type it in MS Word. By typing in LO is
problematic.
1. Windows only method ALT+deicaml offset. ALT+0769 doesnt type anything
2. Inserting symbol via GUI. I choose U+301 and instead of symbol with upper
coma I see ligature with two upper comas.
3. I see no way to disable ligatures. How to disable autoligature insert?

Also if you open this odt in MS Word - everything will look fine.

Pic showing how accent symbol looks (here it is red, normally black)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88232] New: JDBC password disclosure in status bar

2015-01-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88232

Bug ID: 88232
   Summary: JDBC password disclosure in status bar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.1 rc
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cpo...@gmail.com

Created attachment 112003
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=112003&action=edit
Display of the full JDBC connection string in Base's status bar

Sometimes it is appropriate to store the password for a database connection as
part of the JDBC connection string, so the user with (ideally legitimate)
access to an odb-file can query a remote database without the need to supply
the password.

However, LO Base prints the full JDBC connection string in the application
window's status bar, so other people passing by the screen are able to read the
cleartext password (see the attached screenshot).

Though that would not provide any "real" security, this information disclosure
seems not necessary. As a solution, there should be a setting allowing a user
to disable the display of the JDBC connection string at all, or any sensitive
information like password and possibly user name should be obfuscated in the
status bar, e.g. by printing just a "*" instead.

David Tardon  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||dtar...@redhat.com

--- Comment #9 from David Tardon  ---
The reason this no longer causes a crash in libwps 0.3.x is that the code that
crashed is no longer there :-) The librevenge-based versions of our import
libraries require that the application's impl. of RVNGInputStream interface
supports OLE2 and Zip containers, if it is needed. That means that the various
*OLEStream.cpp and *ZipStream.cpp impls. in libraries (which were all copied
one from another) have been dropped. There is only one instance of each
remainining in librevenge (used by librevenge-stream lib).

librevenge-stream can handle your samples in 0.1.2, but not in 0.1.1, which
means that the problem has already been fixed by one of my afl fixes. So it
would be possible to find the exact commit and replicate the changes from
src/lib/RVNGOLEStream.cpp into src/lib/WPSOLEStream.cpp in libwps 0.2. (Btw, in
the case anyone attempts to do this, libmwaw 0.2 needs the same fix.)

The bug title is misleading since "'" is never used in any of the discussed and

So you might want to play a bit until you find the combination which works for

As you can see from the attached screenshot, the only string I see is the db
name followed by any optional connection parameters. You should not be putting
id and password combos directly in here, but rather use the separate dialog
provided for that purpose.

@cpohle : please provide jdbc connector version (just in case it makes a
difference, but I doubt it), and please tell us how you set up your connection
to the db - I'm assuming via the wizard ?

At best, this might be considered as a request for enhancement, but I doubt the
rationale and development effort in providing a UI switch to turn on/off the
display of the string in the main db window for someone who has hard coded the
pwd/id combo into the connection string. However, I'm not a developer.

Version 3.3 makes no sense, because "Textbox in shape" is a new feature in
LO4.4, which does not exist in version 3.3. For the new feature see

Testing with ppsx file from bug 56765 shows that pressing Esc key when
presentation is in progress opens the presentation in Edit mode, but LO
subsequently crashes. Will try and get a trace.

--- Comment #1 from raal  ---
Calc 4.5 and 3.5 is +- the same time (slow, tens of seconds).
Comparing to excel where this operation takes 1 sec (slower VM on my machine ),
so it's possible to make this instantly..

Marking as NEW.
