While there is already a way to arrange tables in neat columns using sections, nested tables are the only way to arrange them in rows. The only way to nest one table when pasting into another as far as I know is to manually recreate another table within table Y with the same dimensions as table X and paste into that one. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86039] SIDEBAR: Styles gallery tab
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86039 --- Comment #12 from Tomaz Vajngerl --- Jay, do you think this still makes sense when we would have style sets (Quick styles)? I guess a normal user just wants to pick one consistent look he likes and maybe manually tweak some thing here and there. With themes he can in addition change the fonts and colors which should already make him happy. I think we should rather think about how to make it simpler to change a style and bring styles closer to the user. Currently our sidebar is very direct formatting oriented as the styles are totally separate, but we could tweak that. For example I like how iWork Pages (13) shows the current style on the top and the user can has an easy access to other styles from there. Also the user can see quickly if any direct formatting was applied and has the option to update the style. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

You are right, they are useful for fixing shapes in a chart. For example, a chart may have a "call" shape for indicating something of a specific point. Or a line could be drawn to separate two regions, etc, etc. And charts in spreadsheets are continuously moved around. I find this feature useful. It was introduced with LibO 3.3, imported from OOo. (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/LibOReleaseEvents/LOPressKit/FeatureList3.3#Productivity_Enhancements) (Also, those shapes should also be useful as workaround for bug 39052, but not at the end because of bug 58027.) > I believe we can get those buttons you have into the formatting and shapes > toolbar, so people can easily enable them rather than create a new toolbar. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90586] OLE objects move around when entering into the edit mode
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90586 --- Comment #6 from Jay Philips --- Hi Francisco, (In reply to Francisco from comment #5) > Hi, Jay > > It's a custom toolbar I created, for being able to edit shapes drawn in > charts. (Necessary workaround for bug 39052). It has "character", "line", > "fill" and "size and position" options. That's because the options for > shapes drawn in charts are more "limited" that the ones in Writer (see bug > 58038), and have also its particular bugs (see bug 58027). I had noticed the same problem as bug 58038, when i was working on improving the chart toolbars and thought to file a bug for it, but glad to see that you have already done so. I believe the best solution is to not allow drawing capabilities in chart edit mode and have users do drawing over the chart object in the document, as i dont see why it needs to be embedding into the chart other than so that it remains in place when a chart is moved around. I believe we can get those buttons you have into the formatting and shapes toolbar, so people can easily enable them rather than create a new toolbar. > Ha! [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80303] UI: Property mapping - the legend should reflect this possibility
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80303 --- Comment #8 from bugzi...@rhynas.com --- Perhaps I've not explained my thoughts well. My earlier comment-5 relates to pie and stacked bar charts where particuar color assignment is important. By using the "Range for Fill Color" feature it's straightforward and repeatable to get exactly the colors one wants (except that one has to manually edit the series colors to get the legend to match). The shortcoming with manually assigning series colours is that you have to do it for each series, and if you delete then re-create a chart you have to start all over with the color assignments. Using the "Range for Fill Color" feature means all one's color info is contained with the source data and ready to apply in one go. I've added attached Chart_Colour_Fill.ods to illustrate how I'm thinking. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90596] New: Press Shortcut ctrl-w twice and changes are lost
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90596 Bug ID: 90596 Summary: Press Shortcut ctrl-w twice and changes are lost Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.3.3.2 release Hardware: Other OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: niederwip...@gmx.de CTRL-w is a favorite shortcut to close an application, so it is in calc or writer. If changes are unsaved, you get a confirmation dialog (after pressing CTRL-w). In the confirmation dialog CTRL-w calls the function "close without saving". This is dangerous because if you want to close several windows you press CTRL-w several times and trust to be stopped if there is unsaved data in the dialog trying to close. Not so in Libreoffice. If you now press CTRL-w (in the confirmation dialog) the unsaved changes of the document are lost. There is no single color and the color might change any time. Additionally if you have one data point without value in the fill color range the original color is used. Several times I made a security save of the odp fil. Many of the pictures come from extrated pdf pages loaded in Paint Shop Pro (300 dpi). The pictures were cut out of the pages and then copy past from Paint Shop Pro screen I don't know the format but it must be a windows transfer format. Later I saved the pictures from Paint Shop Pro and Irfan view as jpg files. 1. time I have made 4 or 5 dias and then I lost the pictures after saving. 2. time I have made about 20 dias and then it happens again the pictures disappear be saving 3. time I first have saved all the pictures as jpg files and then loaded in Impress. At about 30 dias it happens again by saving. One of the dias remain with pictures all the other pictures were lost. All text in the dias remain as written. The odp fil drop from about 30 Mb to 10 kb. Then I convertet and saved the odp file (the version without pictures after 3.) to a ppt file. In Power Point 2000 I placed all the photos in the presentation and saved it as ppt file. I have tried to open this fil in Impress and save is again as odp no problems all pictures are there only a little problem with dia 34. Is there a limit on size of the jpg pictures? I am sorry but I don't have a copy of the corruptet file, but you get the ppt file and the odp file. Please have a look at dia number 34 Impress can not made this from the ppt file. Is the !bMSO2007Document detection > logic turned off or just not working correctly in this case? The conditions are correct as can be seen by the unit test. Also a quick look into the spec, oart1 21.2.2.7 shows that the default value in OOXML is true. Reopening > it will not change the outcome. When I write an application for other people's use, I want to know what's wrong with it, so I can fix it ASAP. That's how professionals work. On the assumption that the people working on LibreOffice take pride in their work, I reported the problems I found. I've done all I can by reporting the bugs, by telling anyone I know to stay away from LibreOffice Calc, and by not using it myself for work that must be correct. Other users who aren't as careful might not notice there's a problem, but if either of these bugs ever causes loss of life or financial loss, the law may force them to figure out why, and then LibreOffice developers will probably hear about it as well. If you want to close the bug, it's obviously your prerogative, however, pretending it's not a bug doesn't resolve it. It sounds to me like you believe users should use spreadsheets the way you think spreadsheets should be used. I doubt you can imagine some of the calculations spreadsheets are actually used for or why. As I explained about the MOD() bug: if a word processor or presentation graphic (eyewash) program has a bug, lives and money aren't at risk.
