[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90374] SIDEBAR: Having the sidebar with a fixed width across all tabs
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90374 --- Comment #9 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #8) Is there a point to be able to shrinking down the width of a tab so that the controls start to disappear, similar to the attached image. Sure, you can precisely set the exposed content panel to a width that still fits with a document at a particular zoom level--the Content panel is available to work with, rather than hidden. I was able to resize Navigator to the point of collapse. I find the resize of the deck to point of collapse to be quite useless. Other office suites that implement sidebars dont have such functionality (calligra, iworks, wps/kingsoft). We *don't* care about other suites! And allowing resize to point of collapse allows the deck and the content panel to be reopened at that width. Again, useful when trying to hold the document at a particular zoom. So NO, would not agree to a single minimum width applied to Decks of all content panels--but that said, there is room to improve how each decks minimum width (prior to collapse) is determined. So you wouldnt agree to a single minimum width for all but you'd agree to having independent minimum widths per deck, right? Correct, your stated goal was that having a fixed width for the sidebar will give us a defined area to work within... I flatly reject the need for that across all Content panels. Rather, there is utility to allowing each active content panel to reduce to some minimum. Either as detected by the GUI widgets present on the active Content panel--or to some predefined minimum assigned per content panel. So long as the Deck independently responds to the active content panel--the method for the minimum width can be determined either way. Just not set to one minimum width for all content panels. We did similar for the Start center, where we allow it to shrink to the width of the Welcome message of the selected UI language, or to the minimum width of one thumbnail view if any are present. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90868] New: EDITING: Interactive image crop tool can't apply proportional crop
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90868 Bug ID: 90868 Summary: EDITING: Interactive image crop tool can't apply proportional crop Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.3 release Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tmac...@gmail.com Description: The new interactive crop tool in Draw/Impress in 4.4 has no way to perform an proportionally constrained crop. This is useful if you want to keep your image's aspect ratio while cropping off the sides. This action would normally be performed by holding down shift while dragging your crop region. Bug 86329 fixed the preview rectangle overlay that appears while you drag your crop region. With that bug fixed (merged in master and should hopefully be in 4.4.4), this preview behaves properly and constrains proportions when you hold shift. Unfortunately, the resulting crop when you release your drag does not behave properly, and ends up wherever you release (not constrained). Steps to reproduce: 1. New drawing 2. Insert image 3. Right click image and Crop Image 4. Hold shift key and drag a crop region * 5. Note results of attempted constrained crop * Again note that if testing in versions before bug 86329's fix, the crop drag preview overlay (rectangle while actually dragging) had its behavior reversed, which scaled proportionally by default and holding shift caused it to not constrain. Expected: If holding shift while dragging out and releasing crop region, the resulting selection should be constrained. Actual: Resulting crop completely ignores the shift key and selects an unconstrained crop region. Notes: As far as I know, there is currently NO way perform an accurate constrained crop in Draw/Impress in LO 4.4+. You completely have to eyeball it. Before, you could at least use math to figure it out. I find constrained crop to be VERY handy. If I have many images on a page, I usually want to keep them all 3:2 or 4:3 or whatever. This bug really hampers my ability to use LO's built in crop tool. It will affect me much more if/when this tool is implemented in Writer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Remove this and remove that. The feature was useful on linux I am a Linux user myself, and can hardly believe that removing it affects functionality at all; precisely one of the main features of Linux desktop environments is the ability to change, *globally*, the fonts used by the software programs you use. All of them allow that: GNOME, Unity, Enlightenment, KDE… It doesn’t make sense, at this point on time, to continue supporting a half-baked, inbuilt mechanism to have the same functionality that your environment has. And I'm almost willing to bet the 5.0 series will be even bigger in the sense of diskspace and cycles -- not being bigger in the sense of functionality. You’re being annoyingly disrespectful to the hundreds of contributors who are dedicating their time to improve this software project. And it seems you haven’t even dedicated five minutes to read our release notes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90867] New: EDITING: Interactive image crop tool applies crop even when you try to abort
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90867 Bug ID: 90867 Summary: EDITING: Interactive image crop tool applies crop even when you try to abort Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.3 release Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tmac...@gmail.com Description: When attempting to use the new interactive crop tool to crop an image in either Draw or Impress, there is no way to abort the action. Anything you do while trying to abort will simply apply the crop. Steps to reproduce: 1. New drawing 2. Insert an image 3. Right click image and select Crop Image 4. Adjust corners of crop area to desired crop 5. Hit escape key Expected: Escape should exit the crop tool without applying our selected crop. Actual: The crop is applied. Notes: Escape would be the most obvious way to abort a crop, but I would also expect a click outside of the image to abort as well. For instance, the crop tool in gimp only applies the crop if you click within the crop region or press enter. Drag one of the crop handles outside of the bounds of the image 5. Apply the crop Expected: The crop tool should only be able reduce the bounds of the image. It should never cause the image area to expand outside of the bounds of the original image area. Actual: The image now has been grown out to fill the entire crop region. If you select the image, you will see that the image now extends to fill your selected crop region. Notes: The crop handles created when selecting the crop should still be allowed to extend beyond the borders of the image. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90843] turned off sidebar turns itself on!
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90843 --- Comment #7 from kba cia...@ibt.pl --- Thank you all for your answers and your work. Guess I'll downgrade to 4.3 then :( If described sidebar behavior is deliberate design decision it's, in my humble user opinion, a bad one. I don't think I am the only one who likes to have all my text edition/option panels (if open) inside text editor, not as floating windows between other program windows on my screen. Personally I think sidebar is some kind of misunderstanding, but it's not a problem as long as I can turn it off and it stays off. I think most ppl who do serious work in text processors turns off unwanted and not needed interface elements to save some workspace. When off they supposed to stay off! Current sidebar behavior is, in my humble opinion as heavy text processor user, a step in very wrong directions. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90843] turned off sidebar turns itself on!
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90843 V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|minor |enhancement --- Comment #10 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #9) If the sidebar is docked and fully closed (View Sidebar is unchecked) and you press F11, the sidebar will fully open with the styles and formatting tab selected, but if you press f11 again, it will close just the tab in the sidebar and not the full sidebar. Yes, this would be expected as things are now. We are using just a single Deck as a container for each of the Content panels. And we have the issue now that we can have two Navigator panels open (one into the Sidebar Deck, the other as its old Dialog format). The correct UI behavior is to differentiate how the accelerator is being launched and test status of Sidebar--if fully closed (not just hidden), with F11 the Sidebar Deck would open to the Styles Formatting content panel. If no other panel is selected from the Tabbar, an F11 would close the Sidebar. The other state--Sidebar: fully open, in Tabbar only mode, or hidden--then an F11 short cut would function as it does now. Same stateful logic would be needed for each of the other Short Cuts/Accelerators assigned to Sidebar Content panels. Note: While we have F11, F5, Alt+V Alt+G, each set of content panels for the Deck need Short Cut/Accelerator assignments, see bug 84502 And these additional accelerators would need to test same stateful logic--is Sidebar open or fully closed, and behave accordingly. If the sidebar is undocked, F11 will open the sidebar undocked and F11 again will close the undocked sidebar. Yes this behavior is a little different than when the Sidebar is docked. Presently F11, and Alt+V Alt+G open and close the undocked sidebar. I think that is correct--short cut/accelerator removes the Sidebar dialog when it is no longer needed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
