Hi Raal, thanks for changing the status :)

I'm a little out of my depth now, but I had a look at the ECMA-376 4th edition
Part 2 available here:
http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/files/ECMA-ST/ECMA-376,%20Fourth%20Edition,%20Part%202%20-%20Open%20Packaging%20Conventions.zip

On page 107 (PDF page 115) ID S2.5 is possibly relevant: "The package
implementer should store pieces in their natural order for optimal efficiency."
although this is only a recommendation.

While Microsoft rarely sets the benchmark in terms of efficiency, I would tend
to agree in this isolated incident that the file describing the other files in
an archive should appear first :)

On page 112 (PDF 120) ID O3.1 also seems somewhat relevant.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90920] New: Calc Search can Clone contents of cell to another sheet

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90920

Bug ID: 90920
Summary: Calc Search can Clone contents of cell to another
sheet
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: danloomi...@gmail.com

Created attachment 115169
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=115169&action=edit
Small spreadsheet to reproduce the problem.

Download and open the attached document
Click on sheet1
Position the cursor on a blank cell in column c. Note the line number.
Enter some data in the cell.
control f to bring up the search menu.
Click the icon to go to full search
Make sure search entire document is checked.
Enter "sam" in the search window and start the search.
The data you entered will be moved from the cell on sheet1 to the same cell on
the sheet where the string is found.
+++
Click on sheet1
Position the cursor on a blank cell in column c. Note the line number.
Enter some data in the cell. Click on another cell, then double click back into
the cell you modified. Add something to the cell.
control F to bring up the search menu. Make sure search entire document is
checked.
Enter sam in the search window and start the search.
The data you entered will be copied from the cell on sheet1 to the same cell on
the sheet where the string is found.

This was originally reported in Open Office in May of 2010. It is a data
corruption bug and should receive more attention than it has. Detection of the
problem is difficult because users may not realize that row 1000 of their
spreadsheet was overlaid because the search stopped at row 500. It took me
months to recognize how this was happening.

I noticed with 4.4.2.2-4.fc22 (Fedora 22 Beta) that the data in the source cell
disappears now as well. The bug is worse then when I originally discovered
it.

Workaround. Click out of the cell being modified before initiating the search
dialogue.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90903

Hi Raal,

Thanks for your quick reply and your efforts in further testing.

However, I find myself disagreeing with your eventual conclusion. I have looked
at the version of the file command you used, and the deficiency in LibreOffice
has been (partially) worked around by the newer file command. It still shows a
discrepancy between MS and LO DOCX files which is causing interoperability
problems. The newer file command is still unable to determine the type of file
(ie. Word, Excel) as your testing shows.

The new version of the "magic" msooxml file was downloaded from here
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/f/file/file_5.19.orig.tar.xz and I
have attached it for convenience.

Of particular note is the comment near the top of the file:
# archive. The first member file is normally "[Content_Types].xml".
# but some libreoffice generated files put this later. Perhaps skip
# the "[Content_Types].xml" test?

While I'm sure we both agree this is a relatively minor issue, it does show a
deficiency in LibreOffice. It leaves me wondering if it would be an easy fix,
but I have no knowledge of the LO codebase.

Either way, I would like the status changed from RESOLVED/WORKSFORME as I
believe the bug is still valid. Whether it's worth fixing isn't for me to say,
but clearly there is a problem.

info from reporter:
I've been playing around, and discovered that calc only crashes when I
edit the document, save close and exit, (I didn't try exit without closing).

On the original document, (19 tabs, one of them CTL left to right,
199KB) even minor editing generally caused a crash, but it is too full
of data that I do not want to publicise.

The attached spread sheet (you'll see there's a lot of CTL Hebrew in it,
with Hebrew date formatting) also causes a crash, but only after fairly
extensive editing (making significant changes in the vlookup).

The Windows error codes are identical for all crashes from both
documents, (at least each time I bothered to compare them).

The original document also crashed on and old XP machine, (which it
didn't before upgrading to 4.4.2.2). Obviously the error codes were very
different.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90646] Improving the "Style & Formatting" sidebar tab

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90646

Combining the paragraph and character styles is the worst idea I have heard of.
That would in no way be an improvement. When you use the number of styles
that I do it would be a big mess. Just because MS Office does can't do styles
properly does not mean LibreOffice has to emulate them.

I found this thread because I just re-compiled the master and found that the
Styles and Formatting panel is getting messed with. I can understand why it
might be nice to have a preview of the styles, but the entries are too large
and now way to much scrolling needs to be done to find the style needed. If
this is the way it's going to be please add an option for to be able to view it
the original way.

Like I said, I use styles heavily, and I have a number of complex documents
where I use a lot of them. Please do not make things harder just because you
think you need to emulate the terrible Styles design of MS Office.

I would add that the latest version of calc hangs for a long time and then
crashes on loading an ods file unless your network printer is turned on.

Took me most of the night to figure out what the heck was wrong as it was
working fine earlier in the week (when the printer was on). I tried upgrading
and bunch of other stuff to no avail.

It wasn't until I accidentally picked print in another application that sitting
there watching the pin wheel to time out triggered a memory about issues that
power point has with off network printer

http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00035_General_PowerPoint_troubleshooting_procedures.htm

and made me think maybe that we my libreoffce problem too. Sure enough.

I'm re-opening in hopes you will reconsider if for no other reason that
libreoffice doesn't just hang but actually crashes now too.

Cheers! -Tyson

When editing text in Impress you cannot place the cursor with a mouse click
just in front of the last character in a line.

For example: In the following line you cannot click the cursor to be in front
of the "C".

This is an example of cursor placement - ABC

This behavior is also seen in some Calc text editing as well.

Spell checker runs, but does not recognize misspelled words. It reports that
all words are spelled correctly, even though I have intentionally misspelled
some words. The result is that while the spellchecker runs, it is
non-functional.

I have seen this problem on previous versions of OpenOffice, LibreOffice, and
Abiword. If this problem effects one of these programs, then it effects all of
these programs.

I tried un-installing all 3 of these programs, then re-installing just
LibreOffice and Abiword from fresh downloads after re-starting my computer. The
spellchecker is still non-functional with both of these programs.

(I haven't had this problem in a couple of years. But I seem to remember a
dictionary program as being the problem, I think. But I can't remember where it
is located.)

Language is US English.

Please provide clearer reproducible steps and a test document. Just saying it
stops working (without saying what we can do to cause that and without a test
document to test with) just isn't enough for QA to move it forward.

Moving to NEEDINFO - once you provide steps and a document please set to
UNCONFIRMED. Thanks for helping out.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90918] New: Spellchecker quits working.

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90918

Bug ID: 90918
   Summary: Spellchecker quits working.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: hayesll...@gmail.com

The Spellchecker simply quits working properly without any warnings. With
obviously misspelled words in a document, the checker will search the entire
writer document and say that all words are spelled correctly. All at once it
does not see any misspelled words. I have intentionally entered misspelled
words and the spellchecker will say that they are correct.

This has also happened using previous versions of both OpenOffice and
LibreOffice. Once this starts, the problem continues until I un-install the
software. The only fix that I have found was to completely un-install both
office software suits and re-install them. Neither of these office suits can
remain installed during this process. And even that fix does not always work.

AMD-64 processor
Windows 7-64

Currently using LibreOffice 4.4.2.2

Leif, just a note, nowadays it shouldn't be necessary any more to add a

be entered in the language combobox' edit field to attribute the text.

Unclear really =) it might be interesting to run libreoffice under cachegrind

to see where the badness truly is; of course it may be in the PaintHelper
itself - but I'm suspicious =)

Thanks for trying to help: Indeed, I wrote 2 auto-correction rules, which are
as I said:
 - "«.*" should be auto-correct by "«_"
 - ".*»" should be auto-correct by "_»"
If I set only one of these, the one which is set works. But if the two rules
are set, it auto-correct like this :
 «foo» -> «_foo»

But yes Joel you are right: this is not the point of this bug report.

Whatever these rules are, I think they should be added to the default
configuration. Indeed, it IS a bug (very small I agree), if this is not
auto-corrected. If not, then this means that LibreOffice does not respect
French quoting style.
And that is a pity, because this can only occur if you have a keyboard layout
created specifically for french (and if you have one it means that you want to
follow french rules).

Moreover, as I said, I suppose this is a minor change, not difficult to
implement and which can not cause troubles.

I set again this bug to unconfirmed. If you still think this is not a bug, you
can close it.

Regards,
Yvan

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63054] DRAW FILEOPEN PDF produced by AutoCAD fails with General Error message

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63054

The problem is in pdf_string_parser::operator(): pdfparse.cxx line 119
(http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sdext/source/pdfimport/pdfparse/pdfparse.cxx#119)
This line is used to skip escaped braces, like

(\))

It pre-increments the scanner to swallow the backslash, and after that, the
scanner is incremented again (normally) on line 124.

The operator++ for boost spirit classic scanner does two things:
1. Advances the scanner;
2. Skips whitespace.

So, if the parsed string has this form:

(\ )

i.e.
then the first increment (line 119, condition = backslash) skips TWO characters
at once, and the next increment skips the normal closing parenthesis. Thus, the
parsing continues. This gives "incorrect" PDF structure, i.e. the check in
pdfparse.cxx line 575 gives false, thus the whole PDF load fails up to
sfxbasemodel.cxx line 1929
(http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sfx2/source/doc/sfxbasemodel.cxx#1929),
where the error is displayed.

I'll try to prepare a patch for that case.

Could not reproduce on Win 8.1 either.

I did not test on 4.4.2, but on 4.4.3 RC1 and 5.0 alpha, so maybe you could try
with 5.0: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@39/

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90592] Retina problem again - fuzzy text

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90592

Hi, I still seem to be having this problem with a dual monitor set up. Now,
whenever I open up a document, on either the external low res monitor or the
retina screen on my macbook, and whether the finder is on either monitor, it is
displayed with fuzzy text.

I can move it around between windows and no change.

If I disconnect my external monitor, the document opens correctly on my
macbook. When I plug the monitor back in again, sometimes it will be fine, but
sometimes it won't be. If it is fine, and I move the document around on the
macbook screen, it might suddenly revert to the fuzzy text.

So, all rather weird. Any idea about a possible solution?

Thanks again for your replies.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90913] OSX - very poor performance when first opening Finder dialog

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90913

An alternative test, e.g. when invoking the File Save dialog for the first
time, leads to the same poor performance

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90907] FILEOPEN: OOXML TIME field locale always en-US

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90907

I saved the docx from LibreOffice as docx, unzipped it and tried searching
through the files for text:time style and number:date-style. Got 0 results.

In the document.xml of my saved file I have:

   TIME \@"'. '\ d\."

  2015. April 28.

Maybe I don't understand this.
Someone else can confirm.

The same code is used in 4.3.7 and 4.4.3, so the fix should be backported to
these versions from my pov.

Hello Wolter,

A page break button in the toolbar was added in 4.4 and you can add it to your
4.3 version by customizing the toolbar, but unfortunately a suitable icon isnt
available for it. If you'd like to insert a page break by keyboard shortcut,
this can be done with Ctrl + Enter.

About inserting a page break at the end of the doc, that functionality isnt
currently available in the manual break dialog or with a shortcut. As inserting
the page break at the end of the document is to jump the cursor to that
location, you can press ctrl + end to jump to the end of the document and ctrl
+ enter to then add a new page break.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90911] Release-Version of Draw/Impress crashes on Windows (relates to Bluetooth remote control)

   |possible (Release-Version) |Draw/Impress crashes on
   ||Windows (relates to
   ||Bluetooth remote control)

We got this crash with the munich's custom build LibreOffice 4.1.6 only on some
particular notebooks: Lenovo Thinkpad T540p and on one Fujitsu Notebook.

Jürgen already discovered, that if the release version is compiled with MSVC
option /GS (Buffer security check) - which is usually the case -, the stack is
checked regularly by a method _EH_epilog3_GS and this method raises an
Exception if the stack is corrupt.

The crash does not occur with the dgbutil-version - we assume that in this case
the orders of variables on the stack is just slighly different, so that there
is still something wrong, but not detected by the above check.

>From my POV the current code is obviously wrong and this is also the case for
the current libreoffice master. We already tried a current master nightly build
version
(http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@39/2015-04-28_00.20.10/master~2015-04-28_00.20.10_LibreOfficeDev_5.0.0.0.alpha1_Win_x86.msi)
but could not reproduce the crash on the above mentioned Lenovo Thinkpad T540p.
We assume that it works just by incident.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90912] New: SUM function in a selection prints error expression

2015-04-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90912

Bug ID: 90912
Summary: SUM function in a selection prints error expression
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3 Daily
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gorg...@web.de

Created attachment 115162
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=115162&action=edit
odt with table and sum function

Seen in OpenSUSE 13.1 64bit
LibreOffice is Version: 4.3.7.2, Build-ID: 430m0(Build:2)

- create a table with multiple lines and fill one column with numbers,
- use the SUM function for one column
- select the table and press print (with dialog)

You can see the error in the small preview already Preselected option is to
print the whole document, where everything is ok (also in preview).

Now change to option "only selected text" and you will see, that the sum
function is calculated to "fehlerhafter Ausdruck" which should be something
like "malformed expression" in the english language. This is the text, that
will be printed too.

Hints:

- If you switch again to option "whole document" and back to "selected", then
the expression will be calculated.

- Could not see the effect with a fresh document and 3 columns. So i will add
the example odt
