[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91574] SLIDESHOW: presenter console not shown and focus remains on the secondary monitor

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91574

it seems that the Windows 32bit tinderbox are not working and there's no recent
daily build available

so I retested the latest 64bit build 5.1.0.0.alpha1+ (x64)
Build ID: 67afab2a7cd5596d321bb85e6e2624df19c2296b
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2015-07-04_22:51:13
Locale: en-US (it_IT)

the issue still persist. still no presenter console and crash after moving
slideshow from 1st to 2nd slide.

please, Linux and Mac users, test and tell if you see the same problem.

I also think we should split the current report in different sub-issues...
I mean:

#1- presenter console not shown
#2- crash after advancing trough slideshow
#3- loss of focus in dual monitor after exiting the slideshow

issue #1 has always been constant even after Christian committ which was
supposed to address this side of the bug, while #2 and #3 varied among
different daily builds so I suspect it's not a single bug causing all the
trouble

I find it rather hard to believe that it's a problem with the drivers of the
distro given that I can reproduce the bug on 3 completely different systems
- one AMD based with a separate NVIDIA Corporation GT218 based video card,
using NVidia's drivers
- one AMD based with onboard video, using ATI's drivers on a Radeon HD 8570D
- one MSI B75MA-P45 with integrated Intel video; this is the only system which
runs the drivers provided by the distribution.

Since reports show this to be inconsistently reproducible even on the same OS

Closing as NOTOURBUG, please refer this to the Xorg maintainer of your distro
first. Reopen this bug only, if there is qualified proof these display errors
are caused by illegal/insensible requests of LibreOffice from the display

Okay without getting into an argument - please don't change status' if you
don't know what they represent. REOPENED is wrong. Setting to NEW just because
I don't have the time or energy to do anything else.

>From my understanding someone has said they got it to fix (by installing the
right dictionaries according to documentation which is readily available). The
separate issue (the UX issue) is a DIFFERENT issue that *should* be reported
separately.

That being said - I'm removing myself from cc.

Works For Me? So it somehow works for you that the same issue has been

Then why not re-assign the bug accordingly so that it can be fixed.

> That being said, this seems like user error :)

And closing this bug is clearly a developer error

Obviously there is a UX issue here. If you don't intend to fix that,
then close with bug with "WONTFIX".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92523] Writer paragraph style doesn't contain text highlighting attribute

Libreoffice has text highlighting option. It changes backround color of
selected symbols. Lets define it as texthighlighting.

Let's reproduce bug:
1) Type some symbols and highlight them with yellow color.
2) Select these symbols, go to styles and formatiing, paragraph styles and
Click new style from selection.
3) Now we have new paragraph style called XSTYLE
4) But what if we want to change color of text highlighting in XSTYLE for
example? Right-click XTYLE -> Modify... we won't find texthighlighting option

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61832] Incorrect spellcheck of words with recorded changes shown

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61832

But I agreed with you ;) I just said it "might" have been done on purpose (by
others who disagree with our stance). Thus why I requested UX input. I am
almost sure that MSO works the same way as I've hit annoying "bugs" because of
the issue (interacting with macros weird) and their devs say "it's how it's
designed." Not saying that we shouldn't "fix it" but it really comes down to
preference, after triaging thousands of bugs, I can guarantee that others
disagree with our position :)

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61832

I respectfully disagree with the comment by Joel.

The (most important) purpose of recording changes is to demonstrate these
changes to other authors/editors/proofreaders of the file. If a file has only a
single author/editor/proofreader then he will most probably make the changes
without explicitly showing them.

When the changes are explicitly shown, it is important to demonstrate to
everyone that the corrections are, well, correct.

I have encountered this problem with my co-authors who were less than happy
with the flagging of corrected corrections.

Showing the results for something like =SUM(A:E) would show 5 million empty

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92471] FILESAVE: New DOCX export of text with highlighting works not for all colors

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92471

Hi,

MSO Highlighting attribute allows only 15 colors which means LO Highlighting
needs to be converted to these colors during export. Other options is to use
Shading setting as Beluga wrote.
You can find more information about MSO highlighting / shading color selection
here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/hub/archive/2011/04/05/how-to-select-more-highlight-colors-in-word.aspx

On the other hand as I see this conversion can be better. That blue color in
the example should be converted to a some blue color and not a grey one. I will
check how we can improve the conversion.

LibreOffice 3.3 (inherited from OOo): Works as user expects
LibreOffice 5.1: Does not

But:

I am relatively sure this is how our competitor works also so the change
*might* have been on purpose. If you haven't accepted the change yet then the
system assumes you won't (vs. assuming you will). I tend to agree with the
reporter but would like ux-advise to see what they think as this would change
the experience for a lot of people who may like the current setup (dealing with
default/user preference experience is always hard).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61430] Spellchecker Should Accept (Not Flag) variations based on "apostrophe S" ('s)

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61430

@Kumara - the more I think about this the harder it is to implement. In
particular the possessive stuff:

For instance, what if someone adds a word that is not a noun, so there is no
possessive element, then they want to write that word in plural but
accidentally type 's instead of just an "s" - spell check doesn't show this as
wrong despite it clearly being wrong.

Can you suggest how we might handle situations like this? I think it could lead
to some relatively bad problems with spell check. Maybe something that needs to
be discussed with UX team as well.

one bug still hiding somewhere

Well - it's going to be guessing and checking. Feel free to join the
documentation team and contribute there. Wiki is open access - you can create a
page and start documenting where you see problems (going off of the sample
files and duplicates on this bug). Pretty easy thing to do so telling others to
do it makes no sense if it's so important to you

Every document now opens in Writer as it is expected to do.

Calc and Math also launch properly.

I'm not sure what could have caused the erroneous behaviour before.

Seems reasonable although it's not likely to be implemented soon. I believe
that the ODF committee would have to approve something like this and it would
break interoperability with our competitor when saving in their format.

That being said, valid request - just no clue if or when it would be
implemented.

Thanks for the suggestion!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89554] EDITING: Dragging table to other page causes crash

backtrace

It does freeze for a little bit and then it is possible to click on things but
they do not work. Going into print preview and coming back out and everything
works. Does crash on close.

I narrowed the problem down to dragging a table over a page break with a
different page style. I thought that two page view might have been involved
but the same happens in singe page view.
1. New Text Document.
2. Enter some empty paragraphs.
3. Insert -> Manual Break -> select style First page or Index and OK.
4. On first page, Insert table.
5. Select table and drag with mouse to second page.
Result:
Hangs for about 10 - 20 seconds and then application mostly unresponsive.

Also, something interesting is that dragging a table results in the new table
having the same name.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92543] New: insert formulas in other languages

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92543

Bug ID: 92543
Summary: insert formulas in other languages
   Product: LibreOffice

  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: boicot...@yahoo.it

I use calc in italian, an I use italian locale for formulas, but sometimes it
would be easier to use english (such when copying a formula from the web)
directly instead of searching the translation.
So I would like the ability to use a symbol to tell to calc that I'm using
english.
In Autocad there's something similar when inserting commands from the keyboard:
you use an underscore to tell it that you're using english.
I do not want to change the language for all the formulas.
Thank you

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92542] New: TABLE cell has precedence over bibliography on right-click pop-up menu

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92542

Bug ID: 92542
Summary: TABLE cell has precedence over bibliography on
right-click pop-up menu
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.4.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dragoman...@hotmail.it

Duplicate?:
Couldn't find a solution with google's help.
Here in Bugzilla, I searched for:
righ-click cell index/table
popup menu cell index/table
without success

Preliminaries:
Create some text with some references (bibliography entries). Then create a
table with some cells and inside a cell insert a bibliography.
(Cursor on protected areas is enabled)

Problem:
A right-click on the bibliography only pops up the cell menu and I cannot find
an alternative way for updating the bibliography after changes.
Furthermore, any attempt to select the bibliography results in selecting the
whole cell content.

Expected Behaviour:
Pop up only the bibliography menu (for editing, updating, deleting ...) or both
menus. Or add the options in the top bar menus.

Trivia:
I am writing a Phd plan (thus the bibliography) in a .docx form (provided by
the university) that uses tables. The plan was supposed to be written inside a
cell and i was trying to keep the bibliography together with the plan inside
the same cell, that's how i encountered the problem.

Bad Workarounds:
Put the bibliography by itself on a separate cell. Then, to update, the cell
can be deleted and the bibliography created again without affecting other
parts.
For this to work the bibliography must be unprotected.

no, when i chose data > filter > standard filter, libreoffice automatically
select data range

if we want to copy the filter result to other sheet, we don't need to define
the range, we only need to define the "upper left" corner cell of the new
location

e.g. if we want to copy filter result from sheet 1 to sheet 2, we only need to
input $Sheet2.$A$1 in "copy result to" field

Rethinking about this, let's put this one to WFM.
Robinson: if you can still reproduce this, don't hesitate to reopen this

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92151] EDITING: Crash while editing text, and lost 20 mins of work

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92151

And another crash. Again, no file in the backup area:

  ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup/

Yet this time it said it recovered the file correctly - and it does look good,
only losing perhaps 5 minutes of editing.

Note that this happened with the eLAIX extension removed, so that can't be the
culprit.

Again, apport was running while LO had frozen, so I assumed it reported the
bug.

I've gotten good at taking a photo of the frozen screen, so at least I can
easily redo the edits on the current screen's worth of text.

Miklos: rethinking about all this and since, as indicated in comment 15,
putting at 0 and putting at initial values again, we can't reproduce this, I'd
say WFM here.

Indeed it seems the bug has been fixed but we can't fix an already wrong file
generated by a previous LO version.

What do you think?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92151] EDITING: Crash while editing text, and lost 20 mins of work

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92151

It just happened again. This time I lost an hour and a half of work. (Which
is weird: I really thought I was saving, manually, much more frequently because
I'm now worried about losing work. Could I have been that focused on the work?
 I suppose it's possible.)

It was with version 4.4.4.3 and apport submitted a bug automatically - so I
doubt that I need to do a fresh one for 4.4.4.3 this time, right?

Some other info...

While apport was running, I did an ls on the backup directory, and noticed
there was no backup file for the doc I was editing - even though when I'd
checked earlier, there was, and even though LO had been interrupting me every
10 mins with the slow autosave.

Again, I got three errors during the "recovery":

/home/luke/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup/WildThing-w.cover-bigtext.odt_0.odt
does not exist.
/home/luke/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup/WildThing-w.cover-bigtext.odt_0.odt
does not exist.
Object not accessible.
The object cannot be accessed
due to insufficient user rights.

Once again, it gave a yellow tick for the document in question and misinformed
me when it said that it would autosave the documents in /home/luke: after I
recovered the file, there was no such file saved there.

And when I did a Save in LO instead of saving it in /home/luke (as promised by
the message), the file that it updated was the one in my working directory.

This time, though, I had moved the file aside first:

-rw-rw 1 luke kendall 582189 Jul 4 22:34 WildThing-w.cover-bigtext.odt
-rw-rw 1 luke kendall 584508 Jul 4 21:15
WildThing-w.cover-bigtext.odt-aside

Despite the file I had moved aside being larger, I could see no differences
between the two files. I did a "Compare" of the two documents, but I could see
no way to detect the result of the comparison.

It occurs to me that I have the eLAIX installed. I have now removed that and
I will see how I go.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67026] Other: Limitations in Calc precision need to be documented

2015-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67026

I'm going back on my high horse so please bear with me, there is a reason.

The fact that a multiplication or a division can lead to errors in rounding is
a well known problem and requires the use of such as functions as ROUND().

My problem is that, under certain circumstances, addition and subtraction bring
in rounding errors. I understand that numbers are saved in floating point and
that Excel has the same problem but if cell A1 is loaded with a number with
limited decimals (say 15,02) and cell B1 has a value of 10,02 I should expect
to always get A1+B1=25.04 and not 25.039. My main beef is that both
numbers are inputed and not calculated (so I KNOW they have ONLY two decimal
places) and thus output should be ALWAYS on two decimal places.

There is something that would need to be done to how inputed numbers are
memorized, I realize that it will never happen because it would be a major
piece of work (and I no longer have the necessary programming skills). But,
please, no answers such as the one I received "Excel does it too": if somebody
else does something wrong that doesn't justify me repeating the same mistake!

However I would really like to see a more precise piece of documentation which
explains exactly under which conditions does an addition or subtraction of
numbers inputed with a fixed number of decimals give a result that is not
equally exact.
