@Emil : as you are the only person to apparently have suffered from this, and
you now can't reproduce it, or at best, to an almost imperceptible extent, I am
setting this to WFM.

The majority of users do not slowly move their mouse cursor from the
spreadsheet through the formula editor to the toolbar above, and as we have
tons more bugs that are reproducible and in need of attention on OSX, I would
be inclined to let this one go.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92622] WRITER: context menu Unstyle the text from Styles Formatting

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92622

--- Comment #5 from Philippe Jung phil.j...@free.fr ---
I mean that LibreOffice is based on an additive set of styles:
one paragraph style
plus
one character style
plus
one list style

Double Clicking a style is the plus operation

If I am not mistaken the only negative operation is Clear all direct
formatting

So I would like negative operation for any kind of style to that we can change
the result without having to remove everything first.

= Maybe a no list ( = Default) to the list style + the same for character
style would be sufficient ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92672] Copying and pasting a numbered list messes up numbering

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92672

--- Comment #3 from Torf documentfoundation@torf.cc ---
Joel, my main problem was that I didn't find a way to reset the numbering of
the pasted list (I needed two identical copies of the same list including the
same numbering, not a consecutive one).

In my opinion, CTRL+C, CTRL+V should give you two equal copies. Anything else
(e.g. features like copy without formatting or link pasted list with
original) should be an advanced option.

Thanks for the UX-advise, I'm looking forward to their opinion.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92686] FEATURE REQUEST: Better UI for keyboard bindings configuration (including two keybindings for the same action)

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #7 from Jakub Narębski jna...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #6)
(In reply to Jakub Narębski from comment #5)

When the focus is in the list with keys, and you hit Ctrl+F, the focus
immediately jumps to that key, showing the info you are looking for..

What is lacking is small text above this list with e.g. Press key
combination you want to change, or something like that.

That would indeed a better UI. Is it OK for you to make this issue reflect
 just that suggestion?

I have created *this* issue because of annoying behavior wrt. adding duplicated
keybinding to the same function. This is a separate issue, and I can raise a
separate (and quick to fix) bug report.

There remains long term issue that needs a discussion about best UI for
assigning keybindings (for keyboard configuration), for example whether to make
it more similar to what MS Word 2007 does, or what Atom editor does.

I think it is not a checkbox, it is an icon, perhaps a missing icon. If you
configure LO to not show the icons in the menus you do not see it while you see
the checkbox next some other menu entries like View Status Bar.

Note: under Ubuntu I do not see graphic sign next this menu entry, with all

@Joel, mixing English with RTL language like Hebrew or Arabic in the same line
is common in presentations for higher education.
For example, our use case is presentations in the area of Medicine and Biology
that use the local language while the technical terms are in English.

I checked the settings.xml file and the value has been correctly set from false

Pop-up dialog offers to update all tables of contents in document.

Many users will find such a popup very annoying. Additionally it is useless if
you print only a part of the document that does not contain the ToC.

The command to update all ToC is there: menu Tools Update Update All or
Updates All Indexes and Tables. You can easily add a shortcut key to Update All
command.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92686] FEATURE REQUEST: Better UI for keyboard bindings configuration (including two keybindings for the same action)

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92686

--- Comment #8 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---
Hi Jakub,

(In reply to Jakub Narębski from comment #7)

I have created *this* issue because of annoying behavior wrt. adding
duplicated keybinding to the same function. This is a separate issue, and I
can raise a separate (and quick to fix) bug report.

Yes please do.
Side note: applying two bindings for the same is easier when you first select
the function, without bothering the keys list, and after that selecting the
proper key by putting the focus in the list and pressing the desired key. But
hard to tell that in the current UI without real help text, I think.

There remains long term issue that needs a discussion about best UI for
assigning keybindings (for keyboard configuration), for example whether to
make it more similar to what MS Word 2007 does, or what Atom editor does.

I think there are great improvements in the page that Heiko pointed to. (Alas
there is still work to do, as far as I am aware, to solve the negative effect
of that re-design on customization of events).

Thanks so far!
Cor

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92688] Save settings of cross-references

(In reply to Joel Madero from comment #1)
Can you describe this a bit more? I'm not horribly familiar with
cross-references and I'm getting a little lost in your steps.

 1) can this be done on a new (empty) document?

Of course, it can be done on any document. It is easier to explain, than to add
sample files.

 2) This step in particular is throwing me off: 3. Select cross-reference in
 Selection field.

Sorry for my bad English! I attached file with a table with caption and screen
shot of inserting cross-reference. Point 3 means that I select Table 1 in the
Selection part of Cross-reference dialogue window.

It would be excellent, if the program would remember previous selection in the
Insert reference to box for the next time so I don't have to select every
time Category and number.

I guess the program remembers type of reference Type box, so it should not be
complicated to expand this feature to another box.

Marking as NEEDINFO - please just describe the functionality a little more
and then set to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks!

I have also seem it claim the color Sky Blue 10. Nothing in the file is Sky

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91340] Multiple selection with text objects should not allow text editing inside one object

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91340

--- Comment #10 from MarjaE erw...@alumni.beloit.edu ---
I am disabled, and can't watch the video.

Is the issue that something's (a) making it unclear what you have and haven't
selected and/or (b) causing you to leave selection and enter the text box when
you don't want to?

I agree that it's frustrating to try to select all the right objects, and slip,
and select one of the wrong objects. It keeps happening to me, too. I take it
you don't want to select the background color of the text object either.

However, not everyone can use LibreOffice the same way.

I need it for complex diagrams involving hundreds of groups. So if I need to
change the corresponding part of each group, I have to go into each group. Now
I plan to find other drawing software which might fit my needs.

So whenever one of our questions assumes a particular workflow, it might invite
confusion from smeone else who assumes a different workflow. I've had a lot of
trouble with that, on Ask LibreOffice.

Scrolling through the list of possible keybindings is tedious, compared to
MS Word / MS Office (and Atom editor) solution of just entering key we want
to assign (the advantage is that you see if it is free or not at first
  glance).

When the focus is in the list with keys, and you hit Ctrl+F, the focus
immediately jumps to that key, showing the info you are looking for..

What is lacking is small text above this list with e.g. Press key combination
you want to change, or something like that.

Work around as in comment 23--exchange ODF 1.2 and ask user (or yourself) to
open in MS Word and complete conversion there.

While work remains to be done on OOXML/MS Doc export filters, the fidelity of a
MS Office conversion from ODF 1.2 should be fairly high as LibreOffice has an
obligation to generate standards compliant ODF 1.2, less so in export filter
creation of OOXML or MS binary formats.

Double Clicking a style is the plus operation

If I am not mistaken the only negative operation is Clear all direct
 formatting

Or choose a different (default) style for
paragraphs/characters/graphics-frames/pages.

So I would like negative operation for any kind of style to that we can
change the result without having to remove everything first.

That only makes sense for list styles. All other types of styles have no
NULL-option, but fall back to the 'Default' style.

= Maybe a no list ( = Default) to the list style + the same for character
 style would be sufficient ?

I doubt about the sense for character styles.

However a solution could be, in the context menu for list styles, within the
Styles pane, the option 'no list style'. OK?
Alternatively, if list styles are selected, a button 'no list style' in the
tool bar ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92697] New: Bug reports can be unnecessarily frustrating, can get users angry at each other...

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92697

Bug ID: 92697
Summary: Bug reports can be unnecessarily frustrating, can get
users angry at each other...
   Product: QA Tools
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: erw...@alumni.beloit.edu

It's definitely confusing and frustrating for me.

I feel that, if I get an email about a bug I've reported, I ought to read it
and respond. And if someone declares it invalid for what seem like wrong
reasons, I will raise my concerns about the bug reporting system. If the system
is sending both of us emails about the others' responses, then the system is
wasting both of our time and adding to any anger/frustration/feeling insulted.

Allowing users to edit and delete posts might help. Allowing users a couple
hours before anyone gets an email notification might help users to find a
better way to put things.

I don't know how much of a programming challenge those might pose.

Moving bugs to need info instead of resolved invalid might help, when they
aren't resolved.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92641] Parentheses order wrong when a line with text direction Right-to-left starts with LTR characters

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92641

--- Comment #5 from Maxim Monastirsky momonas...@gmail.com ---
Yes, it doesn't seem good, but at least there is a workaround. You should place
the cursor right after the middle word בבב and go to Insert-Formatting
Mark-Left-to-right mark. That's highly inconvenient (and buggy), but it's
better than nothing.

Per Khaled's remarks - marking as NEW (confirmed)

Minor - apparently there's a workaround which makes this minor;
Low - default for minor bugs

Note: The priority/severity doesn't dictate what gets fixed, it just is an
objective way of classifying the bugs. If there is no workaround please set to
Normal - Medium, else Minor is appropriate. Thanks!

Copy and paste format does not work, for example, to copy-paste a specific tab
size, bold and/or italic, simply pasting the format does not change the
paragraph you want to change format.

Correct this please, I have seen this problem since version 3 to the current
version (4.4.4).

Hi Deivy,

Please provide clearer reproducible steps. We prefer this format:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Do X;
2. Do Y;
3. Do z;

. . .

Observed: Some bad behavior;
Expected: Some good behavior;

Then also attach a simple test case that we can see the problem.

Marking as NEEDINFO - please fix the bug report and then set the bug to

Also this will not be a major bug - it's a minor bug. Severity/Priority have
objective meanings, please don't mark them high just because the bug is
annoying to you.

Minor - can slow down but will not prevent high quality work;
Low - default for minor bugs

Note: This does not impact when the bug gets fixed. Our volunteers take
whatever bug they want to take regardless of the priority/severity. These are
just meant to be objective indicators for those looking through bug reports as
to the issue.

Setting version to inherited from OOo as you said you saw it since version 3.

Have tried the rounding and got another bug with SECOND:

17:37:33 will get
HOUR: 17
MINUTE: 38
SECOND: 32

9:39:31 will get
HOUR: 9
MINUTE: 40
SECOND: 30

This all would happen when MINUTE is between 30 and 45 and SECOND is greater
than 30.

Don't know if we should open another bug for this behavior.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92688] New: Save settings of cross-references

2015-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92688

Bug ID: 92688
   Summary: Save settings of cross-references
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: andis.lazd...@gmail.com

Libreoffice has excellent implementation of cross-reference function, which is
much more useful and flexible than implementation of this function in Microsoft
Word. One really serious problem, which is common for both office suites is
lack of ability to save cross-reference settings.

Current behaviour:
1. Open Insert cross-reference dialogue.
2. Select Table, Figure, Heading or whatever you need in Type field.
3. Select cross-reference in Selection field.
4. Select Category and Number in Insert reference to (the default option is
always page).
5. Press Insert and Close the window.
6. Open Insert cross-reference dialogue again.
7. The selected value in Insert reference to field again is page.

Enhanced behaviour:

7. The selected value is the last choice I did in point 4.

That will save a lot of time to users and give additional points to Libreoffice
against Microsoft office. I'm sure that most of writers use 1 dominant option
for the value Insert reference to field and I never seen that this dominant
option would be page number. It is usually Numbering or Category and Number.

On the Table toolbar the associated .uno command and its dialog has never
been available to add as a Visible button, or as a user Customization.

They have ever been available for customization and still are available. Find
the commands Merge Table and Split Table in the category Table.

It is true, that they have no associated icon, but that applies to other
commands too. I see the issue as Worksforme.

I see both images, but as you don't provide the reference images with which to
compare, I can't tell whether they are complete or not.

I am enclosing a screenshot of the Writer document.

(or just point the cursor to a cell outside the filtered area
 - reset filter is grayed out than …)

 select: reset filter

Where / how does one find the command to reset the filter ? In

LO 5.1 alpha, I don't see any toolbar button for this, nor any entry in the
Tools menu.

Rather unhelpfully, as compared to other db connections, it is impossible to
get a full printout of the error message. On other db connections, this message
is available via the More button, but seemingly not here.

@pbpaulrbarnes: if there is stuff missing on the staves of the second image,
then this would appear to be a DUP of other reports on incorrect EPS display.
If the images have been exported as EMF/EMF+/WMF instead of EPS, then it is a
different set of bugs.

Can you provide us with the original image files ?

@Manfred,

Please provide step by step instructions.

You do not say whether you are using the Autofilter or the Filter Standard /
Advanced menu. I sued th Filter menu, not the Autofilter function.
