[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92821] New: Editing - Navigation, actually
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92821 Bug ID: 92821 Summary: Editing - Navigation, actually Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.4.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: j...@vansomeren.co.uk Please may we have a feature found in MS Word that allows you to navigate to the last four places where you edited stuff? If you have been editing a Word document over here and then over there and then at the top and then in the middle, you key Shift F5 and it takes you back to the previous editing points. Word seems to keep up to four of these sort of temporary bookmarks at all times. This has another use: If you miskey a navigation key, like an arrow or page up etc, and lose your place, then just use Shift F5 to come back to the place you were at when you miskeyed. Lifesaving. I once read that Shift F5 actually invokes a method of the Word Object that is not normally exposed to mere typists, but I have never felt sufficiently strong to study the full Word object model. Maybe implementing this enhancement can be made easy if the Writer's object model has something similar. Shift F5 has a second unsung use: if you were writing a fresh document and saved it, next time you open it, being Word, it takes you to the top. Useless. But hit Shift F5 and it takes you back to the bottom of the document where you were when you saved it yesterday. This seems to be a special case, because the other 'temporary bookmarks' are not also saved. Of course, please keep to Shift F5 if you are able to implement this enhancement. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

This screen shot shows Times New Roman + italicization at > > the same time. > > Can you try testing this in any other word processors you may have like > Wordpad, Kingsoft Writer, Microsoft Word? I don't have any of those installed except Wordpad. Wordpad is much worse in that it cannot render U+0222A (∪) at all, unless I select the very particular font Code 2000. Similarly, if I switch to Code 2000 in LibreOffice, it can render this character. Wordpad renders U+02245 (≅) using a bizarre glyph that is a very poor approximation even when I give it Code 2000. Notice the above line renders perfectly in Chrome, which, in my setup selects arial;sans-serif as the font. When I cut and paste it into LibreOffice it is fine under those fonts. Either switching to Times New Roman or Italicizing them breaks the two characters in question but selecting Code 2000 also works. This is a problem for equations, however, where I don't know how to select the font for a specific character I put in there. So I have actually no work around (i.e., just selecting Code 2000 for these single characters) for this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92818 --- Comment #3 from John van Someren --- I have to say that changing the 'importance' to 'enhancement' is totally wrong. It is just wrong on so many levels. This way of doing it is designed by a programmer, not by a user. Please, please make your bugzilla pages friendly to the ordinary mortal who writes for a living and who would never guess (and I didn't guess either) that you treat an enhancement like a bug all the way to deciding its importance. If you think that changing the 'importance' is actually a good idea, then I give up.Sorry. Thanks for the very speedy response. I'm just so sorry that I can't congratulate you on the system's design. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92817 Bug ID: 92817 Summary: misleading error on save with empty lock-file ... Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.0.0.beta1 Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: framework Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com If you unluckily have run out of space, then LibreOffice happily looses your document data (it appears). But more annoying than that it also then mis-behaves with an zero-length (or incorrectly populated) lock-file. If you do: touch /tmp/.~lock.empty.ods\# and try to save a file as /tmp/empty.ods You get this grim error: "Error saving the document Untitled1: Object not accessible. The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights." But of course - the user has all rights to both the lock-file, directory etc. In this case we should show the 'open copy' etc. dialog and carry on. The log trace from this: .config/libreoffice/4/user/temp/document_io_logring.txt for 4.4 says: Rethrow /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/objstor.cxx:1325: SaveAs/Export /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/objstor.cxx:1338: Locking /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/docfile.cxx:914: /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/objstor.cxx:2878: /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/objmisc.cxx:260: Resetting Error. /home/timar/core/sfx2/source/doc/sfxbasemodel.cxx:3124: Storing failed! https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77940 Shimi Chen changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|NEW Component|Draw|Formula Editor --- Comment #5 from Shimi Chen --- I can confirm this bug. Let me try and make the issue more clear: Starting a math object with the "=" sign makes sense sometimes (mathematically), if you are continuing a calculation from the previous line. Trying to start a new line with the "=" sign results in an inverse red question mark, as the "=" symbol in LO Math objects expects to have elements on both of it's sides. This is strongly related to bug 41739, yet not a duplicate of it. As luis tried to convey, there is a workaround, which is to add a "%" sign before the "=". I'm setting this to NEW but it could be argued that this is not a bug at all. It all depends on what the project believes the behavior of "=" should be. I personally tend to agree with the reporter, as I also use "=" a lot in new lines. It would be much more convenient for "=" to be rendered regardless of the existence of elements on both sides. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92814 Bug ID: 92814 Summary: FORMATTING and VIEWING: Allow display of Print border outline in Worksheet view. Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.0.3 rc Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: dri...@alum.northwestern.edu One useful feature would be to enable the toggle for, (or always display) a print border outline in a worksheet showing where the current page layout settings will print the worksheet. In Excel, when you attempt to print a worksheet, a dotted line will appear to signify how each section of the worksheet will fit in a page. This is more useful than having to jump back and forth between the Print Preview screen. In Excel, this page layout dotted line only appears after attempting to print a worksheet.
