https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92949 Bug ID: 92949 Summary: Support 64-bit JRE or check for 32-bit JRE on installation Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Base Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: peter.chast...@gmail.com When I try to create a new database, Base (version 4.4.4, et al) gives me this error message: "LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Advanced." On investigation, I discovered that LO is incompatible with 64-bit JRE. After I install 32-bit JRE 8.0.510, everything works. There are several things wrong with this: First, unless 64-bit JRE really is defective, the message is misleading and should be reworded to something like "LO requires 32-bit JRE. Please install and select it." But that scenario should never arise. Instead, the LO installer should recognize that 32-bit JRE is absent and tell the user to download it first. Please bear in mind that many, perhaps most, users of office productivity software don't know that they need to look for a Java product name that contains "X86" or a filename with "i586", neither of which strings contains the number 32. Also, keep in mind that if both 32- and 64-bit JRE are installed, they both have the same name in the selection box in the Advanced Options menu, and the user has to figure it out by noticing that the correct one is in a Windows directory with "X86" in its name. Unless our goal is to provide full employment for tech support persons, we should not be requiring that level of competence. The ideal solution, it seems to me, would be for LO to function with 64-bit JRE, perhaps by having separate 32-bit and 64-bit versions. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92939] RangeName conversion from Excel 5.0 to CALC
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92939 --- Comment #3 from Alex --- After some subsequent investigation I can report that the order in which sheets appear in the Excel workbook has some effect on whether local names get attached to the correct sheet. If, for example, in the attachments I sent in the original bug report, one moves SHEET4 and SHEET3 to the end in the Excel workbook, so that the tab order is SHEET2, SHEET1, SHEET4 and SHEET3, when that is then opened by Calc the names local to SHEET1 and SHEET2 get attached correctly. It seems that if there are sheets in the document which do not have any local names that are to the left (in the tab order) of those which do, the local names on those which do get shifted as many sheets to the left as there are preceeding sheets without local names. It's hard for me to imagine why this type of behavior should happen, inasmuch as it shouldn't be too difficult to look at an Excel name and easily figure out whether it is global or local, and if local, what sheet it belongs to when the name is converted to Calc. Something is not right in that process. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92939] RangeName conversion from Excel 5.0 to CALC
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92939 Alex changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Resolution|DUPLICATE |--- Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #2 from Alex --- I had seen the reference to bug 82135 and the other reference before reporting this bug, and I do not consider them the same. Yes, I (unfortunately) know all too well of the inability of LibreOffice Calc to reference names local to Sheet1 in a formula on Sheet2. But, Calc (at last!) now does allow names local to a sheet to be referenced from formulas on that sheet. The bug I reported and demonstrated in the attachments was that in the conversion from Excel 5.0, the names get attached to the wrong sheets - i.e., a name local to Sheet1 got attached to Sheet3 and could therefore no longer be accessed from Sheet1. Perhaps this behavior is the underlying cause of the other bug(s) you wanted to call identical to this, but the details are not what were reported in the other bugs I found. While I might complain about the deficiencies in the way LibreOffice Calc handles (or doesn't handle) foreign references to local names, that is not what I reported as a bug! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92898 --- Comment #12 from Iandol --- OK, I can confirm that Calc in 4.4.5 does completely hang when accessing the context menu for a cell, so although I can't trigger it in Writer (4.4.5) I can in Calc (4.4.5). I can trigger the hang in Writer (5.0.0 / 5.1) and Calc (5.0.0 / 5.1). I think it is important to remember that 10.11 is still a beta; for example core apps like Font Book are completely broken at the moment, so this behaviour may change and there isn't much that LO can probably do until we are close to a final OS X release... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69861] Page wrapping and pagination problem
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69861 --- Comment #10 from Gordo --- The document requires Aboriginal Sans and Serif family fonts, so I installed them. There are 43 pages when the document is first opened. After a few seconds this jumps to 49. I can get 50 pages by scrolling immediately after opening. Something that I noticed is that there is direct formatting applied to some paragraphs of tab stops that exceed the page width. In some instances there are captions in the frames that have tab stops that exceed the width of the frame. There are some frames that are anchored to paragraphs that have tab stops that exceed the page margin. It probably does not mean anything because there are no tabs used in the document. If I select all and clear direct formatting and save and reload then there are 49 pages. After a few seconds this drops down to 40. Unfortunately, there is another bug to do with clear direct formatting: after doing it the pages styles change to Default after save and reload. After changing the pages back to the original style and saving and reloading there are 40 pages but this jumps to 43. Scrolling after loading gets 41 and then it jumps to 45. So I guess the tab stops have nothing to do with it. There are four frames that are anchored to the previous page because of text flow. The page styles alternate. There are also frames anchored to lists. That's because they're considered as templates in this case, so basically you're getting a new document based on this template. > Workaround is to add a .doc extension to the file. That's not just a workaround, but the right thing to do. There is no way to distinguish between a Word 97 document and a template, other than by file extension (AFAIK). So with a wrong extension, the software simply has no clue on what you're trying to do. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92866] Keyboard command shortcuts don't work in start centre
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92866 --- Comment #6 from Simon Long --- As above - from what I can see, my change has revealed some strange behaviour in the way the Start Centre handles keyboard input; it looks to me as if something is overriding the normal passing of keyboard input through the hierarchy, in which I believe in other applications the menu bar has priority over the rest of the window. The Start Centre was not handling keyboard shortcuts correctly prior to my change; the change has exacerbated the problem by breaking it further, but it looks to me as if the keyboard handling in the Start Centre needs to be revisited and corrected, as it is currently doing something odd.
