[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49853] EDITING: Attempting paste/select all into find bar with Cmd-V or Cmd-A on OS X pastes into document not into search bar
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49853 --- Comment #108 from Jan Holesovsky --- Cannot really debug that without a mac; but my theory is that vcl/source/window/keycod.cxx does not map the cmd+V to KeyFuncType::PASTE correctly on OS X. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95535 --- Comment #11 from Carlyle Moulton --- My previous comment #9 is wrong. Since I made it I have done another test with a 3rd document XLOG07 which I opened on 2015-11-5 before 21:04 and edited multiple times at:- 21:06 21:35 22:20 22:45 23:52 While periodically checking the contents of ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup to see whether the backup file had been created. As at 13:01 on 2015-11-6 the backup file is still nonexistent. The problem is that sometimes libreoffice fails to create a backup file when it should do so, any subsequent computer hang requiring a reboot exposes the fact that the file does not exist, the document recovery failure message is correct. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95402] TEMPLATE MANAGER: Improve Save as Template workflow
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95402 --- Comment #7 from Octavio Alvarez --- (In reply to Yousuf (Jay) Philips from comment #5) > > The icon is *the most important change* among all that I suggested becuase, > > as I said on IRC: it currently sends a wrong visual message. > > I'm assuming you mean it sends the wrong visual message without the icon. Yes. It sends the message of 'choose a template to save over'. It gives no visual cues whatsoever that saving as a new template is possible at all. > > Bear me with this thought: It gave me a choice of templates and I had a > > 'Save' button. I don't want to save it to any of those. By having a choice > > of templates I expect to click on one of those and then clicking 'Save' to > > perform my will. > > That is quite opposite to the universal workflow of saving anything. When > you open the Save or Save As dialog, the primary thing is to select a folder > if neede, which may have existing files in it, and then type a new file name. I'd like to be more precise: when opening a Save As dialog, the primary thing is to select a *target file*, not a location. Choosing a location is just a requirement. The current screen only gives visual cues for choosing existing files, not a new one. It doesn't give visual cues of location. > > I can't predict what the 'Save' button does before clicking it (a priori). > > It currently turns out that clicking 'Save' actually asks for something. > > This is completely opposite to the currently existing, universal workflow > > of saving *anything*. > > Yes as there isnt a filename field to type in the template name, a dialog > appears after clicking the 'Save' button. This isnt that outside of the norm > that it would confuse users. I didn't get the last sentence, sorry. But if I understand correctly, what you say is also correct. As an alternative to the 'Save as new template' icon, there could be --instead-- a text field for choosing a new name *before* clicking 'Save'. > > At least, when a new 'Save as new template' icon is introduced as one of > > the options, it will visually guide me to click on it because that's what I > > want to do and then think 'Ok, I selected something, now I must find a > > button to perform the save'. > > I find this quite confusing that if i wanted to save something, i would have > to preselect an item already in the list of file/template names and then > click a Save button. Maybe the simplest thing is to do would be to change > the 'Save' button to 'Save Template Here'. The simplest thing is to use a simple 'Save As' dialog. That's it. With the 'Save as new template' icon, yes, you would have to preselect an item already in the list (but there is now a cue to know what to do to save a new template). Renaming the button to 'Save template here' is still confusing if there are no visual cues. When given a choice of already existing templates and a 'Save template here', I feel like I *must* choose one of the templates before clicking the button, which leads to overwriting. The window does not cue that is giving the choice of location; the icons are the most prominent. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I have noticed the following behaviour in Writer recently but it may apply to Calc etc. as well. There seems to be a new behaviour which is causing original versions of documents to be lost. If I open a writer .odt file to make a new document based on the old one, using 'save as' after the first few modifications to save the new document under a new name, I find that the original version of the document has also been modified, with a revision time a few minutes before the new document, presumably as a result of the regular automatic saving. Despite only having clicked on 'Save as', not 'Save', it is impossible to recover the original version. If one is unable to reconstruct it from memory it will be lost. If this continues it means I shall have to copy and paste the original document to create a starting point for the new documennt, instead of simply opening the original document and saving the new one using 'Save as'. This is inconvenient and wil cause inadvertent loss of possibly valuable files. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95402 Yousuf (Jay) Philips changed: What|Removed |Added CC||tietze.he...@gmail.com, ||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- Comment #5 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips --- (In reply to Octavio Alvarez from comment #4) > The icon is *the most important change* among all that I suggested becuase, > as I said on IRC: it currently sends a wrong visual message. I'm assuming you mean it sends the wrong visual message without the icon. > Bear me with this thought: It gave me a choice of templates and I had a > 'Save' button. I don't want to save it to any of those. By having a choice > of templates I expect to click on one of those and then clicking 'Save' to > perform my will. That is quite opposite to the universal workflow of saving anything. When you open the Save or Save As dialog, the primary thing is to select a folder if neede, which may have existing files in it, and then type a new file name. > I can't predict what the 'Save' button does before clicking it (a priori). > It currently turns out that clicking 'Save' actually asks for something. > This is completely opposite to the currently existing, universal workflow of > saving *anything*. Yes as there isnt a filename field to type in the template name, a dialog appears after clicking the 'Save' button. This isnt that outside of the norm that it would confuse users. > At least, when a new 'Save as new template' icon is introduced as one of the > options, it will visually guide me to click on it because that's what I want > to do and then think 'Ok, I selected something, now I must find a button to > perform the save'. I find this quite confusing that if i wanted to save something, i would have to preselect an item already in the list of file/template names and then click a Save button. Maybe the simplest thing is to do would be to change the 'Save' button to 'Save Template Here'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95621] New: PNG Images FORMATTING and Scale incorrect upon EXPORT to PDF or PRINT to PDF
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95621 Bug ID: 95621 Summary: PNG Images FORMATTING and Scale incorrect upon EXPORT to PDF or PRINT to PDF Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.2.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: georgepanta...@gmail.com Context: I was editing a preexisting PDF. This part was fine, loss of some formatting is expected. The only things in the document were preexisting text that seemed to be imported by making all lines their own textboxes, and there was an image signature near the bottom of the document. Bug: Images scale incorrectly upon Export to PDF or dissappear upon Print to PDF. There are two images in the file. The first was already in the pdf, a signature at the bottom of the page. The second was a PNG signature I dragged into the file. Both of these images distort and scale incorrectly, or disappear depending on my export choice. Regular filesaving behaves fine. If I tried to Export the document to PDF the images keep the same clipping bounds but the content scales up to what looks like the bottom left 1/4th of the image. Print to PDF causes the images to disappear. I tried potentially solving the issue by bringing the images to the front, but that did nothing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95564 --- Comment #2 from Matt --- It would be good if the design team could consider this, not so much as a criticism to their design ability as the layout works, but more as a chance to expand. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47148] image caching / management is utterly shambolic
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47148 --- Comment #32 from Michael Meeks --- I believe I wrote up some E-mail rant about using strings to reference images across the code left & right, instead of UNO references - which is spectacularly unhelpful (but I lost my rant). An image is a leaf-node, there is no real reason not to have a nice hard, rtl::Reference<> lifecycle for whatever wrapper we put around it (to lifecycle manage it even when it's not swapped in etc.) that I can see. I suspect we try to be too clever - rather than having a nice central image cache we copy images to in the file-system, and that something simpler and more robust with some very hard lifecycle around it would be rather better ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95614] New: Linked images - read error, flickering, freeze in Writer 5.X.X
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95614 Bug ID: 95614 Summary: Linked images - read error, flickering, freeze in Writer 5.X.X Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 (IA32) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: pjmollmonr...@gmail.com Created attachment 120301 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=120301&action=edit Video I see another bug similar but for another writer version. I always use linked images. They are on the local drive. When open or scrolling within the document, sooner or later it happens the image-frames begin flickering alternate showing 'Read error' and the path. The document freezes (see attached image). No chance to continue. I have to kill the swriter-process. Most of time this happens at the moment moving between the pages. With 4.4.X and earlier i didn't experience this problem, also with documents containing a lot of images.
