[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49853] EDITING: Attempting paste/select all into find bar with Cmd-V or Cmd-A on OS X pastes into document not into search bar

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49853

Cannot really debug that without a mac; but my theory is that

vcl/source/window/keycod.cxx

does not map the cmd+V to KeyFuncType::PASTE correctly on OS X.

Can anybody with a mac add SAL_DEBUG to vcl::KeyCode::GetFunction() and see if
it returns the PASTE there?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93433] incomplete display of long autocorrect list in the replacement table and possible data loss when saving

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93433

a new symptom of this is bug is that when you enter the replacement table list
and you notice that after scrolling down the list is not fully loaded, if you
then scroll up and down fast multiple times you see different degrees of list
loading...

sometime you see the whole list, sometimes some more entries and sometimes
fewer entries...

this is different from the "resize table" workaround described in comment 0

it seems there's a problem in populating the table in a constant matter

I just did a software update (under Ubuntu 14.04), which included an update for
the lib UNO component. I had left LO idle for 2.5 hrs, and had not been

In the "Arranging Chapters in the Navigator" section of the LO Help (found by
searching for "arranging;headings"), it says "To undock the Navigator,
double-click its frame." It should say "To undock the Navigator, double-click
its frame while holding the Ctrl key."

The "Navigator;docking and resizing" search leads to "Docking and Resizing
Windows" which does have the correct instructions. Maybe the above instructions
should be replaced by a link to that instead?

Always Create Backup Copy specifies creation of the .bak file
Automatically save the document too specifies creation of the .odt_O.odt file.
I have now checked both of these and set the timout to Kumara's suggested value
of 2 minutes. Will cross fingers and observe.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95535] Document recovery failure

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95535

My previous comment #9 is wrong.

Since I made it I have done another test with a 3rd document XLOG07 which I
opened on 2015-11-5 before 21:04 and edited multiple times at:-
21:06
21:35
22:20
22:45
23:52

While periodically checking the contents of ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/backup
to see whether the backup file had been created. As at 13:01 on 2015-11-6 the
backup file is still nonexistent.

The problem is that sometimes libreoffice fails to create a backup file when it
should do so, any subsequent computer hang requiring a reboot exposes the fact
that the file does not exist, the document recovery failure message is correct.

My version of libreoffice is 4.4.5.2 Build ID: 4.4.5.2-8.fc22
Locale: en_AU.UTF-8 my Linux is Fedora 22 X64.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95402] TEMPLATE MANAGER: Improve Save as Template workflow

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Yes. It sends the message of 'choose a template to save over'. It gives no
visual cues whatsoever that saving as a new template is possible at all.

> > Bear me with this thought: It gave me a choice of templates and I had a

I'd like to be more precise: when opening a Save As dialog, the primary thing
is to select a *target file*, not a location. Choosing a location is just a
requirement.

The current screen only gives visual cues for choosing existing files, not a
new one. It doesn't give visual cues of location.

> > I can't predict what the 'Save' button does before clicking it (a priori).

I didn't get the last sentence, sorry.

But if I understand correctly, what you say is also correct. As an alternative
to the 'Save as new template' icon, there could be --instead-- a text field for
choosing a new name *before* clicking 'Save'.

> > At least, when a new 'Save as new template' icon is introduced as one of

The simplest thing is to use a simple 'Save As' dialog. That's it.

With the 'Save as new template' icon, yes, you would have to preselect an item
already in the list (but there is now a cue to know what to do to save a new
template).

Renaming the button to 'Save template here' is still confusing if there are no
visual cues. When given a choice of already existing templates and a 'Save
template here', I feel like I *must* choose one of the templates before
clicking the button, which leads to overwriting. The window does not cue that
is giving the choice of location; the icons are the most prominent.

Thanks for reporting and bisecting the problem. It seems, the picture is
imported as a complex object, a textbox with an image, and the image is
anchored as a character.
Moving the textbox resizes the image for the requested size. I will fix or
revert my patch.

--- Comment #1 from David Edwards <2davidedwa...@gmail.com> ---
My apologies, but your system interpreted a line return (to attempt to close a
list of possible duplicates) as a request to file the report - hence there
being no description...

I have noticed the following behaviour in Writer recently but it may apply to
Calc etc. as well. There seems to be a new behaviour which is causing original
versions of documents to be lost. If I open a writer .odt file to make a new
document based on the old one, using 'save as' after the first few
modifications to save the new document under a new name, I find that the
original version of the document has also been modified, with a revision time a
few minutes before the new document, presumably as a result of the regular
automatic saving. Despite only having clicked on 'Save as', not 'Save', it is
impossible to recover the original version. If one is unable to reconstruct it
from memory it will be lost.

If this continues it means I shall have to copy and paste the original document
to create a starting point for the new documennt, instead of simply opening the
original document and saving the new one using 'Save as'. This is inconvenient
and wil cause inadvertent loss of possibly valuable files.

I am using

I'm assuming you mean it sends the wrong visual message without the icon.

That is quite opposite to the universal workflow of saving anything. When you
open the Save or Save As dialog, the primary thing is to select a folder if
neede, which may have existing files in it, and then type a new file name.

> I can't predict what the 'Save' button does before clicking it (a priori).
> It currently turns out that clicking 'Save' actually asks for something.
> This is completely opposite to the currently existing, universal workflow of

Yes as there isnt a filename field to type in the template name, a dialog
appears after clicking the 'Save' button. This isnt that outside of the norm
that it would confuse users.

> At least, when a new 'Save as new template' icon is introduced as one of the
> options, it will visually guide me to click on it because that's what I want

I find this quite confusing that if i wanted to save something, i would have to
preselect an item already in the list of file/template names and then click a
Save button. Maybe the simplest thing is to do would be to change the 'Save'
button to 'Save Template Here'.

User view: Previous version of Find dialog does not have this bug, new feature

some cases → it IS regression (weird workaround exist).

Hi Matt,

Seems like an interesting suggestion, though i wonder how many amateur
designers would like to take on the large task of designing thousands of icons.
Do you have any links to similar competitions run by other organizations.

(In reply to Matt from comment #2)
> Currently the Toolbar Icons looks very M$ Office 2005, its a point of issue

LibreOffice does bundle a number of different icon themes users can choose
from, including the most recent breeze icons. Icon are always a matter of
taste, which is why we provide users with choices.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95621] New: PNG Images FORMATTING and Scale incorrect upon EXPORT to PDF or PRINT to PDF

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95621

Bug ID: 95621
Summary: PNG Images FORMATTING and Scale incorrect upon EXPORT
to PDF or PRINT to PDF
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: georgepanta...@gmail.com

Context: I was editing a preexisting PDF. This part was fine, loss of some
formatting is expected. The only things in the document were preexisting text
that seemed to be imported by making all lines their own textboxes, and there
was an image signature near the bottom of the document.

Bug: Images scale incorrectly upon Export to PDF or dissappear upon Print to
PDF.

There are two images in the file. The first was already in the pdf, a signature
at the bottom of the page.
The second was a PNG signature I dragged into the file.
Both of these images distort and scale incorrectly, or disappear depending on
my export choice. Regular filesaving behaves fine. If I tried to Export the
document to PDF the images keep the same clipping bounds but the content scales
up to what looks like the bottom left 1/4th of the image. Print to PDF causes
the images to disappear.

I tried potentially solving the issue by bringing the images to the front, but
that did nothing.

--- Comment #10 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips ---
As mentioned in my duplicate bug report, "As conditional formatting is applied
based on the condition number in the sequence, we need 'Move Up' and 'Move
Down' buttons next to the 'Add' and 'Delete' buttons so a user doesnt have to
remove and re-add an entry to change the sequence ordering."

This is primarily needed in the conditional formatting management dialog
(sc/uiconfig/scalc/ui/condformatmanager.ui) and entries in the dialog shouldnt
be sorted alphabetically rather than how they were added into a document (bug
91654), but also needed in the conditional formatting dialog
(sc/uiconfig/scalc/ui/conditionalformatdialog.ui) so that individual rules can
be managed.

tested under Win8.1 x64 using 5.1.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: c81142b277546714c0dfa8f9c2961c8ef80bc6d2-GL
TinderBox: Win-x86@62-merge-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2015-11-04_23:17:48
Locale: it-IT (it_IT)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1- load the autocorrect replacement table (Tools/Autocorrect/Autocorrect
options/Replace

2- compare the margins of the "replace tab" and of the "replace" and "with"
fields in LibO 5.1.0.0 alpha and 5.0.3.1

you will see that some margins are missing in 5.1.x (see attached screenshot)

Win+R, type "services.msc" and hit enter. You can also type this into your
start part/start menu. Sort by name on the window that pops up. Scroll down to
"Print Spooler" and right click "Properties". It should say if it's 'Running'
or 'Stopped'.

- opening the paragraph styles in the side-bar on right
- dubble-clicking at the style "Tabellen Inhalt" (table content)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95564] Enhancement Request: Toolbar Icons

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95564

It would be good if the design team could consider this, not so much as a
criticism to their design ability as the layout works, but more as a chance
to expand.

Currently the Toolbar Icons looks very M$ Office 2005, its a point of issue
with people when trying to get them to change over or try, the common issue
is it looks a bit cheesy or old.

The software is fine just looks a little dated, and this way would allow
greater community expansion by engaging the community.

Capitalization works correctly in this case, Greek capital alpha is similar to
the Latin one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha.

You can switch off the automatic capitalization of the sentence starting
letters in the Tools/Autocorrect menu.

(A possible problem here, that it's not possible to use Ctrl-Z to get the small
Greek letter, but this is true for all autoreplacement texts in sentence
starting positions.)

I get the exactly same behaviour, on my own case which is:

- an odb linked to an ods;

- some fields taken from the odb in an odt;

- when I print the odt as a form letter, in individual files in pdfs, the files
are created with the right name but all with the same content than the first;

- but if I print all in one pdf, it does work correctly, as well as printing in
individual odts rather than pdfs;

- it does the same after resetting the conf.

I failed to reproduce the AndreaM case, as LO told me about some missing
driver, but the fact is I have the same bug with totally different datas, and
even with a fresh config.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47148] image caching / management is utterly shambolic

2015-11-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47148

I believe I wrote up some E-mail rant about using strings to reference images
across the code left & right, instead of UNO references - which is
spectacularly unhelpful (but I lost my rant). An image is a leaf-node, there is
no real reason not to have a nice hard, rtl::Reference<> lifecycle for whatever
wrapper we put around it (to lifecycle manage it even when it's not swapped in
etc.) that I can see. I suspect we try to be too clever - rather than having a
nice central image cache we copy images to in the file-system, and that
something simpler and more robust with some very hard lifecycle around it would
be rather better ;-)

I see another bug similar but for another writer version.

I always use linked images. They are on the local drive. When open or scrolling
within the document, sooner or later it happens the image-frames begin
flickering alternate showing 'Read error' and the path. The document freezes
(see attached image). No chance to continue. I have to kill the
swriter-process. Most of time this happens at the moment moving between the
pages.

With 4.4.X and earlier i didn't experience this problem, also with documents
containing a lot of images.
