.ods file containing some superscripting and subscripting

When a Calc worksheet containing superscripted and/or subscripted text is saved
in .xlsx format, the superscripting/subscripting is either removed altogether,
or the characters to which it applies are switched.

Steps:
1. Open a Calc .ods file with super- and/or subscripted text.
2. Save a copy of that file in .xlsx format.
3. Open the .xlsx version of the file.
4. Weep.

Current Behavior: sub/superscripting is misapplied to other characters in the
cell, or removed altogether.

Expected Behavior: The characters retain their formatting.

I got feeling that in 5.0.4 this problem is even worse. Calc stops responding
for more than 5 minutes or crashes on array formula with 46000
records.Openoffice.org do it in few seconds. I can provide test file on email,
not for public use.

File containing sub/superscripting and equalized cells

Superscripting and/or subscripting is not retained in cells set equal to other
cells that contain superscripted and/or subscripted text.

1. Open a Calc file.
2. Write some text in a cell (e.g., A1) and superscript one of the characters.
3. Set another cell equal to that cells contents (e.g., type "=A1" into cell
C1).
4. Cell C1 will not retain the superscripted formatting.

Current behavior: Superscripting and/or subscripting is lost.

Expected behavior: Superscripting and/or subscripting is retained.


If using superscripting, then depending on the characters you need formatting,
using Unicode can be a workaround. However, for subscripted characters this is
much less likely (particularly for a font family like Liberation). Also, one
has to think of the workaround.

OS is windows 8.1

I couldn't perform the item 3 of your set of instructions. The "open symbol"
doesn't show on the left list. I used instead "symbol" but it doesn't correct
the problem.

The fourth instruction made the = sign look like a clock now

Presently the usage data stats is being simplified by grouping same actions
together and not collecting enough information, so here we'll define how this
collected data should be expanded with the current level of data being
recorded.

Presently we only record

Document Type;Command+Command Origin;Count


and this should be expanded to record

Event No;Timestamp;Module;Sub-Module;Document No;Command;Command Origin


Below are details of these data columns

Event No: Event number for the event sequence

Timestamp: UTC data and time of the event - e.g. 2015-12-12T06:51:42.67

Module: Module the event is executed from - W (Writer), C (Calc), I (Impress),
D (Draw), M (Math), B (Base), SC (Start Center), CH (Chart)

Sub-Module: Sub-module the event is executed from - WW (Writer Web), WM (Writer
Master), WF (Writer Form)

Document No: To track the events that happen per document - e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4

Command: UNO command - e.g. .uno:Bold, .uno:Italics

Command Origin: How the UNO command was execute - KB (Keyboard), TB (Toolbar),
MB (Menu bar), Context Menu (CM), ...

Tab: ID of the dialog tab if used in a SfxModalDialog() call, which is also
found in the .ui file - e.g. ParagraphTabsPage

Control: ID of the control action in the dialog .ui file - e.g. credits

Action: The action performed on the control - Click (button), Check (checkbox),
More/Less (spin control), Select (listbox/drop-down list/combobox), Modify
(textbox), ...

Presently usage data is exported when LO is closed and this likely has the
following problems.

1) Usage data is taking up memory
2) Usage data will be lost if LO crashes

It would be better if the usage data is outputted at the time an event is
executed. So the usage data file should be created when LO is launched and it
should have a time stamp as part of its filename - e.g.
usage-2015-12-12T06_51_40.txt.

Thanks for your information. I'm using Lubuntu 14.04.3 with LXDE as my desktop
environment which the OpenGL is not activated by default. Anyhow, the problem
won't occur in LibreOffice 4.4.7 and LibreOffice 5.0.3 on the same machine.

Hi chaland,

Your document shows that OpenSymbol font is missing on your computer and wasn't
installed by LO 4.4.6.3. Wingdings font is used instead of OpenSymbol.
See Bug 76239 - OpenSymbol font is not retained after an upgrade.
The best to do is to uninstall and install again this version, like in
Bug 95289 - The display of mathematical formulae is erroneous in LibreOffice
Writer documents.

It would be useful to include the linux distribution name and desktop

The simplest means of doing this would be to rely on already existing

Please be careful here ... this data is not just for the help about screen -
but also will be reported back to TDF; so we need to be extra careful about
adding stuff here.

Potentially we should add a parameter 'bool bRich = false' to that method and
its uses so we can distinguish 'help->about' from the update script.

Fine to add things if you do that - and they're only there for the bRich
setting =)

They are now discoverable with the introduction of the Style menu in 5.1.

Hmm, I just checked on Fedora 22 LXDE spin with
Version: 5.1.0.0.beta2
Build ID: 53054959a12edc6510f51b94ddc9b73d27aedaf6
Thread 2; Ver: 4.2; Render: GL;

Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

--No-OpenGL--

1. confirm OpenGL is disabled--Tools -> Options -> View: "Use OpenGL for all
rendering" is **unchecked** 

2. Cleared all options and set "Lossless compression" on the File -> Export as
PDF: PDF export panel.

with OpenGL disabled, receive a clean PDF export with both images fully formed.

--OpenGL rendering enabled--

1. checkbox on Tools -> Options -> View: "Use OpenGL for all rendering is
checked -- restart LibreOffice to enable OpenGL

2. cleared all options and set "Lossless compression" on the File -> Export as
PDF: PDF export panel.

with OpenGL enabled, the exported PDF shows corrupted images in attachment
121235

2. cleared all options on the PDF

with OpenGL enabled the background fill image is lost in Writer, and when
exported to PDF *both* the PNG mages are corrupted as in attachment 121235

So two issues here--the OpenGL issue which mishandles the PNG, and LXDE
handling of PNG which I can not confirm.

Will attach a different take on your MrZ Writer and Draw for you to test
against.

Hi Everyone!

In some Italian word and only with some fonts, hyphenation fails doubling some
letters on both lines. Carlito and Calibri appear to be similar for better and
for worse!

Carlito too has this problem!

Having experimented more with this (on on 3 PCS [2 x Win7HP + 1 x XP_Home] all
using LO 5.0.3.2) I have consistently found the following when launching LO
Writer (by clicking on LO Writer shortcut):

1. Without the Sidebar enabled (at launch), the size of the LO Window (at
launch) relative to the widest toolbar affects whether the blank document
receives focus. If the window is narrow enough to cause the widest toolbar to
be truncated such that the right pointing chevrons icon is enforced at the
right of the toolbar then the blank document does not receive focus. If the
window is wide enough such that no toolbars are truncated then the blank
document does receive focus.

2. With the sidebar enabled and docked (whether hidden or not), the blank
document does not receive focus.

3. With the sidebar undocked the blank document does receive focus (except
where the issue described in 1.above arises - as that takes precedence).

4. On opening further pre-existing documents (by clicking the documents in,
say, Windows Explorer), LO itself does not even get focus, let alone the
document within LO.

However, when launching LO Writer by opening a pre-existing document (by
clicking the document in, say, Windows Explorer), the document always gets
focus. But opening subsequent documents in the same way, the same as 4. above
occurs.

In Tools - AutoCorrect - AutoCorrent Options - Word Completion tab, there is
the "Accept with" drop-down with English key names (End, Return, Space, Right,
Tab) which cannot be localized (the names are not in .po files for
translation).

Also, the "Return" should be renamed to "Enter" (it seems that "Enter" appears
on Windows whereas "Return" on Linux).

Checked in 5.1 beta 2 (Ubuntu), cs locale, presumably inherited from OOo
(observed also in 3.5.4 and AOO 4.1.2).

   PRINT RANGE 3 10 3 ; print [3, 6, 9]

In my version writing PRINT RANGE 10 outputs "range(0, 10", "range(3, 10" and
"range(3, 10, 3" respectively.
To get the result as described in Help, I have to write PRINT LIST RANGE 10
etc.

Not tried in other versions of LibreOffice.

Sample document that reproduces the issue

How to reproduce ?

1. Open the attached document in Calc.
2. Select the range C9:D12 using mouse.
3. Select the range G9:H12 using mouse by holding CTRL key so that now you have
   two areas selected simultaneously. Notice that both areas have black outer
   borders.
4. Open Format Cells dialog while the selection is intact.
5. In the format cells dialog go to Borders tab.

What is current behavior ?

The user-defined border editor under "Line Arrangement" section shows
no borders for the current selection.
The sidebar border editor also has similar behavior.

What is the expected behavior ?

The user-defined border editor should show the outer borders as both the
selected areas have outer borders.

Having the Styles menu for Writer is a definite improvement (thanks Jay!). But
the menu in Writer is only assigning Paragraph and Character styles with
.uno:StyleApply actions. We can not style Frames, Pages or Lists from menu or
by short-cut/accelerator. 

Otherwise keyboard navigation does not seem to be fully resolved. Yes menu
elements have been done for Writer with additions to WriterCommands.xcu -- but
no similar menu with keyboard short-cuts/accelerators have been provided for
styling paragraphs/characters in Draw/Impress text blocks, nor in Calc cells.
The Format -> Styles in Calc is un populated. And the Format menu entries in
Draw/Impress do direct formatting of the drawing objects. 

Also, we've done nothing for Keyboard navigation in the Sidebar Styles &
Formatting (F11) deck, nor in the Sytles dropdown content panel of the
Properties deck.   In general for navigating the Sidebar we remain bound to
F10, F6 and a muddled mix of cursor and Tab movements. The very thing direct
short-cuts/accelerators would simplify.

So, IMHO don't see this as ready to close. Although it probably needs more
design and discussion of how best to provide full keyboard navigation for
Assistive Technology support.

As a suggestion for all interested--when assessing completeness of the UI
please try to navigate using just the keyboard (no mouse)--or better turn off
the display with reliance on just ORCA or NVDA or JAWS to sound your session
navigation. If you can't create useful documents without peeking we're not
meeting the needs of our Accessibility Tools dependent users. Likewise if
navigation is not clear consistent and concise across the modules.

It's intermittent; sometimes it appears, sometimes I can work at a reasonable
pace without problem. (Even with automatic spellcheck.)

I normally have automatic spellchecking enabled. I have disabled it, and at the
moment the speed is reasonable. But I'm not using LO intensively at the moment,
so it's difficult to say.

fdo#73151 Make better use of the sidebar

The general idea is to encourage use of the sidebar instead of floating
windows (for Navigator, Styles&Formatting and Gallery)

Changes:
* Show the sidebar by default in Writer & Impress
* Remove the Gallery floating window (Gallery now always opens in the
sidebar)
* Remove all Gallery, Navigator and Styles&Formatting links from the
default toolbar in Writer
  (since they have an icon in the sidebar and the sidebar is shown by
default now)
* When selecting "More" from the Styles dropdown, the Stylelist opens
in the sidebar instead of the floating window

Working on a different system and the 2015-12-12 build went on fine and no
issue. So, then installed 2015-12-11 on this system--no OpenGL issues.

Unfortunately with Microsoft RDP OpenGL is suppressed--so can't actually run
with OpenGL on the system remotely--and the opengl_device.log show this generic
junk.

To recap -- the 2015-12-11 and 2015-12-12 TB62 builds for Windows do seem to be
functional with OpenGL active, and system testing on may have an OpenGL driver
issue.  Will know for sure Monday 14th when I can get back on console.

Did you format the date by clicking on the header of the table?

Could it be the field for the date in the table isn't a date-field but an
intger-field?

Remove all uses of GetMarkRowRanges() and use GetMarkedRowSpans().

And ditto with its column variant.  The former created a heap array of
1 million elements (=MAXROWCOUNT). There is no need for this memory
wastage.

The odd thing is that it seems as if the new document window doesn't get focus
at all, meaning it doesn't seem to get any of the user input - when I press
Ctrl+N again with a non-responsive document window open, no new documents are
opened (that does work in Apache OO 4.2). I really have to click in the window
to give it focus.

The tool-tips display of file name is still leaving a trail of redraw edges as
it is pushed by mouse down the backing pane of the thumbnail view of Start
Center.  

Also, don't see too much reduction in the "flicker" as each thumbnail is
redrawn as the tool-tip repositions.

It only occurs when OpenGL is active, but may be a different facet than the
double buffering you've been working on?

enabled and, when the user tries to use the feature, provide them practical
help on why the feature is unavailable and how to resolve the issue. Further,
this should not require the user going to external documentation (that is only
available via the Internet). Although it would be cool to have the internal
documentation link to a wiki or Q&A site that contains answers related to that
particular feature.

Hah - so my patch removes GL related flicker; but for this case, it's
un-related to GL AFAICS and was here from 4.2.0 ... so ;-)

The re-paint dirt is another bug that got tangled into here; but the flickering
is prolly easy enough to fix - will have a look =)

Calc crashes on this file

Step to reproduce:
1/ open the attached file
2/ click on the second tab (consommation) ==> crash
3/ reopen th file and add some values in the column A, C, D, I at row 22, then
select C22 and press the Delete key ==> crash
4/ reopen the file and try to delete a value in column C ==> crash
5/ reopen the file, then look at column J and see that J10:J21 range shows
values 0, these values are erroneous because the sum involved in each formula
is not null.

The crash is reproduced with my own build :
Version: 5.1.0.0.beta2+
Build ID: 8f63516df72b49e9347d90750f6d3ef3d4a1813f
Threads 4; Ver: 4.2; Render: default;

Near the lower part of the page there is a frame, that - of correct - pushes a
not to high table to the lower part.
What we see in LibreOffice, is the frame allows the table to overlap it.

bnc#863018 WW8 import: fix upper margin of multi-page floating table

A vert orient position was already handled in case a floating table was
imported as a TextFrame, but in case we didn't do that, the vert orient
position was simply lost.

Fix this by importing it as the upper margin of the table (assuming
that
the position is relative from the anchor position).
