This is still really confusing for me.
a) "tab Database" - where? On the label dialog?

b) Most confusing part "Then Next record - Sheet1" - I don't see anything about
Next record on the dialog...

Sorry for being a PITA but I can't bibisect if I can't follow the instructions

Reason: Native format, using strictly LibreOffice (older versions) so this is
an intra-program regression using completely native formats. A bibisect would
really help move this forward.

You say you don't need the sidebar, yet in reality you use it all the time.
When the window is docked, it lives in the sidebar.
Apparently you would like to get rid of the narrow sidebar control element in
the right side.

I will relay this to the design team, but I imagine they will not be too keen
on the idea..

Bodhi Moksha

After extensive testing I'm changing a couple things:

1) Removing bibisectRequest
2) Removing regression;
3) Adding possibleRegression

Although the OP says it's a regression, I can't confirm this for the life of
me. I've tested a variety of versions and each takes a substantial amount of
time - many don't work at all - the range of time is 4 minutes - 10 minutes.
The fastest I have seen so far is 5.2 (current master).

We need an independent confirmation that this is in fact a regression and what
exact version works better. It would also be nice to know:

1) If it works better on all platforms;
2) How much better is it (using a stop watch would help)

If an independent QA member confirms this as a regression feel free to add
regression again, you can add bibisectRequest as well but it might be moved to
notBibisectable.

If you have a 13# screen even a small sidebar is a waste of space if you don't
need it. The point is that I as a user cannot decide to have it or have it not,
in the same way as I can choose to have the style panel or the navigation
panel. I'm going to look for downgrading LO for it is really annoying. I hope
other people think the same and will vote for a change.

Some interesting findings with bibisect:
1) I can reproduce the problem in both 50max and 44max bibisects...
2) Going back all the way to 35all I can get to a commit that doesn't show the
problem - this is somewhat surprising only because you said with 4.4.3.2 you
don't see the issue (I'm not sure if 4.4.3.2 is included in 35all)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96602] New: hang upon pasting website text into Writer

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96602

Bug ID: 96602
Summary: hang upon pasting website text into Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.4.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: prowo...@comcast.net

Created attachment 121411
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=121411=edit
bug rpt- OSX Console

After upgrading to 5.042, the pasting of text, including photos and a video,
from website hung the application. Using template built in previous version
(formatted for header & footer for title, date, and page numbers), previous
versions always accepted and allowed editing of document – now, however:

1) Writer accepted text, but took time to process full document (spinning
pinwheel in OSX). in 10 seconds, settled with cursor showing.

2) Clicking anywhere in document immediately started hang w/ pinwheel, this
time locking application for interminable period (waited 10 minutes 1st time,
tried 2 more times).

see attached for event log of final episode.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96596] Sidebar control element can't be removed while a sidebar deck is visible

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96596

You don't need to downgrade, just wait for the next update. It will give you
access to the styles from the main menu. Hope that helps since Styles and
Formatting (F11) is part of the sidebar and will not get a separate floating
control, as Beluga said.
However you are right, there is an inconsistency with sidebar on/off and
styles. But I'd rather remove the menu entry since the user can switch between
styles using the toolbar.

I must recognize I don't understand how to reproduce this. Certainly someone
may help.
Indeed, I created a brand new odt file and added a table of contents.
Then I right clicked and selected "Edit Index/Table" + chose "Entries" tab.
But then I don't understand the rest:
- "selecting the words to insert" (I can't select any words at this step)
- "Moving with the arrows to the another selected entries" (arrows just make
entries display, nothing else)
...

Anyway, could you give a try to last stable LO version 5.0.3?

Hi Regina -

Really strange that you're still seeing this.

I see the problem with:
Version: 5.0.2.2
Build ID: 37b43f919e4de5eeaca9b9755ed688758a8251fe

I do not see the problem with:
Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 5df326438fd3a5613a52b4de1935426911ff1301

@Cor - can you test with latest master and see if you can still repro?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96530] Close on draggin outside the sheet when finish create table of contents entries

> Anyway, could you give a try to last stable LO version 5.0.3?

"Selecting the words" stands for remarking with left-button mouse the word/s to
create the entry with.
And "moving with the arrows", means that when i've another entries and move on;
even that action ends with the bug.

A tried more and realize that it's the whole action of create entries that
exits on crash. At leats, it happens when i use the window, if copy and paste
an existent entry (made it with an older version, v.4) and change the words and
update the table; it doesn't happen. Just only when use the menu with "Edit
Index/Table"

I'll try the 5.0.3 version.

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 96605
Summary: EDITING: LibreOffice crashes when calling Special
Characters
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer

LibreOffice crashes when selection Special Charactrers from the Insert menu. A
"fatal error" dialog box appears, but it is empty except for the caution symbol
(exclamation point in yellow triangle). When the dialog box is dismissed, the
entire suite crashes instantly. This includes the document being worked on plus
any other open windows, including those running Calc.

If it still hangs in 5.0.4.2, then priority should be higher, because macro

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96601] New: VIEWING / UI: save button does no longer gray out (stays enabled) when no changes have been made since last save

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96601

Bug ID: 96601
Summary: VIEWING / UI: save button does no longer gray out
(stays enabled) when no changes have been made since
last save
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: f5d50...@opayq.com

In the new LO 5.1.0.1 the save button in the task bar no longer grays out when
the document has been saved and no new changes have been made. This is somewhat
disconcerting, as I (and I suppose many others) look at the save button to know
if we have to save the doc. (There is an icon which indicates this, but it is
very far from the save button and possible somewhat too modest to catch
attention in the same way.) The save button in the "file" menu continues to
gray out as expected.

Also, while I can understand that the save button has been changed to add
support for remote saving, I wonder why the "save as" button is also reacheable
by clicking on the save button.

It would be preferable, I think, to be able to customize the save button: do I
want one save button (which comprizes the save as button and the remote save
button), or do I want 2 or 3 save buttons?

This is only about the UI; the save function continues to work as it should.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96590] UI: after saving file, save icon is not greyed out

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96590

bugzi...@rhynas.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||bugzi...@rhynas.com

I've just upgraded from LO 5.0.3.2 to 5.1.0 RC1 and discovered this change in
SAVE button action. I really miss the simple indication as to whether the file
content has changed or not. It was also one of the things I disliked about
MSO.

Re suggested workaround, which file do I need to modify? (It looks quite tricky
for a basic user like myself).

I've looked at the Minutes of the Design Hangout: 2015-12-11, and really hope
that some solution can be found, soon.

Setting to:
Major - major functionality for presentation - objects at least in some context
simply disappear when actually viewing the presentation

Highest - regression. Despite there being a workaround (to disable hardware
acceleration) many users would simply not know to do this.

Spreadsheet which displays the bug and screen shots from working/not working

I think the newer comments are the ones that "vanish" in the newest version of
Libre office. Some comments you can see and some not.

All the comments behave better under 4.3.5.2

nice to get a bibisect from you.

Maxim Monastirsky changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|NEW |RESOLVED
 Resolution|--- |WONTFIX

The current plan is to change the icon of that button, to indicate whether the
document is modified. Completely disabling the button as before is not planned
- so WONTFIX (for now).

More details are at
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2015-December/071519.html

Users that not happy with the new behavior, are free to change it via expert
config:

Type "SaveToolbarController" in the search field and hit Enter. To allow
disabling the button, but still have the dropdown there, change "Controller" to
"com.sun.star.comp.framework.GenericPopupToolbarController", and "Value" to
".uno:SaveAsMenu". Leaving "Value" empty will bring back the old simple button
(without the dropdown).

Note that the design team wants also to change the "allow always saving" thing
to true by default, so at some point there will be need to manually set it to
false (search expert config for "AlwaysAllowSave").

I think there's a reasonable argument that this should be set to normal - high
(regression). Normal because there is no real workaround so it could prevent
high quality work - the image is blurry.

This bug appears to be resolved in current master.

@Adolfo - please test with a daily build, if you can still reproduce set the
bug back to UNCONFIRMED so we can get a new confirmation.

Daily:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86_64@62-TDF/current/master~2015-12-15_13.10.55_LibreOfficeDev_5.2.0.0.alpha0_Win_x64_en-US_de_ar_ja_ru_qtz.msi

Removing bibisectRequest and setting to WFM for now.

@Adolfo - again, if you can still reproduce the issue with current master (link
above), set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we'll take it from there. Thanks
for your patience.

tdf#86639 SwEditShell: when setting para style, reset char attrs if
needed

The old internal RTF filter used to call SwTxtNode::SetAttr() without
setting SetAttrMode::NOFORMATATTR, so character attributes which cover
the whole node got converted to paragraph attributes. The new UNO
filter goes through SwXText::insertTextPortion(), which sets
SetAttrMode::NOFORMATATTR, so this doesn't happen. The result of this
is
that when the UI sets a new paragraph style on the text node, then such
character attributes are no longer removed.

Given that in RTF you can't really have character properties on a
paragraph, going back to the document model produced by the old
internal
filter doesn't sound like the good direction -- not to mention that
changing SwXText::insertTextPortion() this way would be an implicit API
change.

Fix the problem by tweaking SwEditShell::SetTxtFmtColl() instead, so
that it removes these full-text-node character attributes, too. The
logic in SwTxtNode::RstTxtAttr() can be extended later if necessary to
delete more attributes, but to be on the safe side, just handle the
bare
minimum necessary to fix the problem for now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96607] New: Auto-save functionality stops working after a 'Save as' operation

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96607

Bug ID: 96607
Summary: Auto-save functionality stops working after a 'Save
as' operation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: framework
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: anwil...@ncsu.edu

Overview:

The auto-save functionality appears to stop working after performing a "Save
as" operation on an open document. This results in either new data entered
being lost upon an application crash, or making AutoRecovery restore the
information but with the wrong file name.

Steps to reproduce:

Note: this is faster to reproduce if the AutoRecovery save frequency is set to
1 minute (so you don't have to wait the default of 15 mins between AutoRecovery
backups.) This setting is at Tools -> Options -> Load/Save -> General -> "Save
AutoRecovery information every:".

Also, pull up the backup directory in Windows Explorer so that you can watch
the backup files. The path to this can be found at Tools -> Options ->
LibreOffice -> Paths -> Backups.

 1. Open a new, blank Writer or Calc document and write some text. Wait for
the AutoRecovery save frequency and you should see a new file get created
(probably named "untitled_0.odt" or "untitled_0.ods".)

 2. Save the file as a new document, write some new text, and then wait for the
AutoRecovery save frequency. In the backup file directory, from my testing,
one of two things will occur:
a: the previous backup file gets deleted and a new one is never created
b: a backup file with a name similar to the original document (ex:
"untitled_1.odt") exists and will continue to be updated.

Depending on which of these occurred, go to either step 3a or 3b below.

3a. Wait multiple iterations of the AutoRecovery save frequency, entering new
text in between. The document will appear to auto-save, but the auto-save file
will never get created. If the application crashes (or you kill it via the
Task Manager) attempts to auto-recover the data will fail, saying that
"untitled_0.odt" or similar does not exist. It fails to recover any data
entered past the point of the "Save as" in Step 2.

3b. Wait multiple iterations of the AutoRecovery save frequency, entering new
text in between. - the backup file should continue to be updated but with the
wrong file name. If the application crashes (or you kill it via the Task
Manager) attempts to auto-recover the data may succeed, but the document will
have the original file name ("untitled_0.odt" or similar.) Save the currently
open file again as a new file. From my testing, this always results in 2a
above, and you can proceed to step 3a (where auto-save stops working
completely.)

Similar results occur when you start by opening an existing document as opposed
to creating a new one.

Actual Results:

Inability to recover changes upon the application crashing, despite AutoSave
appearing to work successfully.

Expected Results:

Information as of the last auto-save interval should be restored during
AutoRecovery.

Build Date and Hardware:

Version: 5.0.3.2
Build ID: e5f16313668ac592c1bfb310f4390624e3dbfb7
Windows 10 Professional, x86-64

Additional Builds and Platforms:

Untested on other platforms

Additional Information:

May be related to bug 92151

Unfortunately there is a separate bug that makes bibisecting this bug not
possible. There are a series of ranges in 3.5 where the object does not appear
at all - thus preventing a proper bibisect.

This was introduced way back in 4.0 (updating version). Bibisect below:

Minor - can slow down professional quality work but will not prevent it (hard
recalc solves it)
High - bumped up from low - regression + although there is a workaround it's
not entirely obvious + not a complex sheet at all therefore likely to impact
potentially large portion of users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96608] New: different toolbar arrangement selection: simple vs complex

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96608

Bug ID: 96608
Summary: different toolbar arrangement selection: simple vs
complex
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: ux-advise
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lili...@gmail.com
CC: libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org

Created attachment 121418
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=121418=edit
BASIC toolbar style

This is just idea, not bug.

In order to improve visual appearance of LibreOffice, I have an relatively easy
idea. In Options (or in menu View), users should be able to select "Simple" vs
"Complex" toolbar style.

Simple toolbar style will include only one toolbar with most basic items (such
as saving, PDF, some formatting item) while table and drawings toolbars will
appear as usual. However, "more advance" or "complex" menu style will include
standard + formatting toolbar + other toolbars LO developers agree.

What do you think? Example of simple (or basic) toolbar style is attached. Some
users prefer simple interface or they have smaller screen. Other users prefer
lots of toolbars... this simple idea, combined with sidebar, could be even
better than MS ribbons.

2015-12-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95658

Sure I understand that *for you* it's particularly irritating, thus why I think
if *you* are able to do a reasonable bibisect we might be able to push it
forward. That being said, our priorities are set by objective standards and the
impact on a single user is not going to cause the QA team to lift the priority.
Also, priority/severity has no impact on what bugs are fixed (at least
directly) they are only used to indicate to developers how serious the bug is.
This one is objectively a minor issue.

Bibisect Instructions: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect/Linux

If you need live help you can go ask in the QA Chat Channel:
https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/libreoffice-qa

Thanks for your understanding, help, and patience.

Unfortunately this bug isn't bibisectable because of a separate bug that
happens in the bibisect that prevents saving the file at all (infinite loop
during save as). Marking as such.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94714] Bitmaps and patterns are applied at a larger size

If you uncheck "original" in the dialog the bitmap looks fine.

Context Menu -> Area -> Size (right side) -> "Original" (checkbox)

I tested 3.3 and I *think* I see the same behavior. I also tested using 44max,
45max, and bibisect35, each time, same result.

I'm tempted to change this to notBibisectable as it seems to be really time
consuming for a pretty minor "issue?" (just uncheck the box)

@Jay - I leave it in your hands. Just a heads up that I just spent 30 minutes
trying to bibisect it and failed.
