   Summary: Page and Parraph Styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.1.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Reporter: jeronimomarq...@gmail.com

Helo, I use LibO for Desktop Publishing a couple of years ago.
In the lasts versions, at least 6 months ago, there is a error at the first
time your create a Page Break.
If i'm woriking in a book and i make a Page Break at page 9, for example, with
a new Page Style and i continue working its everything OK, i save the document
and close LibO. When i open it again that Page Break doesn't exist any more,
and i have to make it again. It happens just once by page-Page Break.
Thats all.
Thanks a lot by everything what you do.
Jeronimo from Argentina whit not to much English grammar.

Office hangs when trying to open new file.

My Mint Linux system automatically 'updated' LibreOffice, and now LibreOffice
does not start, and cannot create a new document from within writer.

There are two parts to this problem:
1. If there are no documents open, then LibreOffice starts, creates a window
frame, but never completes the process of starting up and just hangs!
2. If I attempt to create a new document from within writer, then a window
frame is completed, but the new document is not created, and Office just hangs!

Did not have these problems with previous releases.

I understand that it might be confusing to see such differences between visio
rendering and LO rendering. But...
Visio does not scale the line patterns, so if you scale the whole shape, the
line pattern will be the same with the same length of gap and of dash. In ODF,
the dashes are scaled with the shape.
There are these little conceptual differences that are preventing us from
having the conversion result 100% visually equivalent. That is the life :(
Closing as WONTFIX, because there is no way to fix it reasonably

The scrolling issue is really painful, LO staggers along, causing regular
spinning beachball moments.

Maybe Miklos would know more about this ? Adding to CC.

Hi Guy,

Opening your file in Excel, all Date or time datas appear as text datas (all
datas aligned to left). That's why you have this apostrophe when they are
imported into Calc.

To see your datas as date and time datas, select the range M3:AM54,
Open "Find & Replace" in Edit menu.
Into "Search For": write
.*
into "Replace With": write
&
At bottom, open Options: select "Regular expressions"
Into "Replace With", select "Replace All".
All selected datas will be replaced by themselves, without apostrophe, and
recognized as date and time datas (aligned to right).
Tried with LO 5.0.3.2 Build ID: e5f16313668ac592c1bfb310f4390624e3dbfb75
and Windows 7 Home.
With Calc, formated as date or time datas, then exported to .xlsx format, the
datas keep the date and time format, and add no apostrophe when you import it
into Calc.

Can you verify that?

For build problems you can consult the developer mailing list or IRC.

Why do you think those "certain patches" will never be incorporated to
LibreOffice? Can you give links in gerrit to the patches?

You were right, thank you. The 5.1.0.1 as downloaded does not exhibit the
issue.

As I understand the process, this issue will be now closed as NOTOURPROBLEM or
something, right?

Unfortunately (for me), using the TDF build is not a solution (for me); I need
the build with certain patches (dealing with MS word import/export) which will
be incorporated in the main source, like, never.

Maybe you could help or at least hint where to look? You've seen my configure
options, what could be the cause?

Or maybe the built-from-source installation hooks into some libraries on my
system, which are, I don't know, of versions of sub-optimal performance or
something??..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96833] New: Remote Files UI dialog has various small issues (lost values in editing, wrong TCP port number management...)

2015-12-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96833

Bug ID: 96833
Summary: Remote Files UI dialog has various small issues (lost
values in editing, wrong TCP port number
management...)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: giuseppe.casta...@acca-esse.eu

LO: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 9b7cd8f0ffe8bfe77ddd30fa4021a9a60b7794c1
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 3.13; UI Render: default;
TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@70-TDF, Branch:master, Time:
2015-12-29_23:53:05
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

Found during my various checks with WebDAV.

If you try to use the the 'Remote files' dialog to add and/or edit a remote
file place you will see a number of small problems.

To reproduce:

First lower the time-out to react a non existing server:
1) 'Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced tab, select 'Expert
Configuration';
2) locate 'ConnectTimeout' property in org.openoffice.Inet.Settings;
3) lower it to 2 sec, the minimum allowable, remember to upper it again to 20
seconds after the tests.
This new property comes from my fix to bug 90700.

To test 'Add service'

1) select 'File > Open remote file' menu item;
2) when the 'Remote Files' dialog opens, select Add service;
3) from the dropdown combo box select WebDAV and add the following elements to
register a fake server:
Host: afake.com
Port: try to use 65535, the maximum value allowed for a TCP port IP4
addressing, only 6553 is accepted
tick 'Secure connection'
User: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Remember password: leave unticked
Label: something of your choice
Root: something of your choice

4) press OK
5) LO will try to connect to a non-existen server, will rightly gives you an
error, acknowlege the erro, the new service is added anyway.

Now, to test the editing:
The 'Service' dropdown combo box will show you the newly added service, select
'Edit service', 'Port' is reset to 80, should at least
have been 6553 as shown (still different from 65535 as was needed in the first
place) 'Secure connection' disappeared.

Things that should be done on WebDAV service add/edit only:

On 'Add service':
1) accept the entire range of TCP port up to 65535;
2) grey-out 'User', 'Password' and 'Remember password' fields since they are
not used, but leave them there because though currently the WebDAV ucb layer
ignores the user, it may use it in the future.
User and password are requested later, when LO tries to connect.

On 'Edit Service':
1) have the edit dialog 'remember' the current stored values;
2) grey-out User field in 'Edit service' as well, for the same reason as above
in 'Add service'.

I have a work in progress patch con current master, though a confirmation of
this bug in another OS will be nice.
Some comments from UX people would be appreciated as well.

- the UI part of this bug may or may not be solved by backporting code from bug

I will close this as a dupe and add a comment to the older report that this

The indexes and Table of Content are not automatically updated.
One needs to right-click the index or table and choose "Update Index or Table".
This is error prone, since one may forget to update before, e.g., exporting to
pdf.
I propose as an enhancement to automatically update the index or table, at
least optionally.

SUM function, LibreOffice vs Excel

Summing a set of 10 numbers with two-decimal precision does not yield the
correct answer. The three columns in the attached document show the numbers
summed in LibreOffice (showing an incorrect result), the last digit only summed
in LibreOffice (showing that the final digit should be "8" not "6"), and the
same set of numbers summed in Excel (yielding the correct result). If this is
not a bug in LibreOffice, then please indicate what I am doing wrong.

Went on an deleted the corresponding entries in all French dictionaries: -->
Problem persists

I also checked the "Standard - Deutsch (Deutschland)" which is in the list
under the letter 'S' (where *D*eutsch would not right away be expected ;-) in
that list I had already removed the *.(c) entry and inserted the reverse
autocorrection for testing.

I am not sure whether continuing with the Spanish/Italian ones is helpful?

Copyright autocorrection seems "hardcoded".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96835] New: Icon is confusing

2015-12-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96835

Bug ID: 96835
   Summary: Icon is confusing
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: elh...@macfaq.com

The application icon shown on Mac OS X, i.e. that appears in the dock, is
confusingly close to the page with folded corner that the Mac has used (with
slight variations) for a document of unknown type for the last several decades.

In fact, it was only this morning that I looked closely enough at the LO icon
to realize it really is something different. Until then, I thought LO just had
a mucked up install with corrupted icons (happens sometimes on Mac).

Not critical by any means but it is really confusing to longtime Mac users. I
suggest a complete redesign of the icon.

Setting to new anyways, as the setups seem similar enough from first glance..

Could you test with an older version (or do you remember a working version)?

If your input fields are greyed out after a print preview command and you save

reopening.

LibreOffice 3.3 and 5.2

Both have basically the same CPU load with soffice and xorg. Both hit about 30%
on my Duo Core 2 machine. Furthermore, older versions seem to be worse than 5.2
(on 3.6+ I was able to get xorg and soffice to both hit almost 60%)

Requesting independent confirmation that this is actually a regression.

Bug ID: 96838
Summary: numeric input fields of paragraph section of the
vertical sidebar are unusable after print preview
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: silva...@katamail.com

Open any Writer document. visualize the sidebar on the "properties" tab.

In the Paragraph section, all space and indents numerical fields (e.b. space
above the paragraph) are free to edit.

Now choose the "print preview" in the standard toolbar or in the FILE menu.

When exiting the print preview and going back to normal editing, the same
fields in the sidebar are greyed out and not usable anymore.

Upon saving the document, closing and reopening it, the fields are correctly
working again.

I am not saying that format a cell as "text" should change the value of the

Left".

Yes, the values are numeric, but they are formatted as TEXT, so they should
align left by default.
Excel is doing the correct behaviour.

I doubt the efficiency of talking to developers about something they aren't
interested in. Like in ticket here -- it turns out it is possible to build a
crippled installation in the same (!) environment as 4.3.7.2, and ticket is
closed.

Anyway, the patch (or the essence of it) is in #45284; additional research is
in #90739.

For 4 years now I have to keep a LO build tree just to have the .DOC with
formulas imported uncrippled.
Seeing as the build-from-source version is now crippled (granted, on my
system), it's again 'work in TDF version, import in built one'.

There were also an issues with bibliography export to Word, seemingly resolved
in #88697 (I have some new doubts about the developer's solution, though).

Thank you Kumara for the update.

ux-team: any thought about this one? Is this a bug or is this on purpose?

It's a regression of:

commit 8d5822983e9b6a1e04874ce4d2c807fd0cf1ee04
Author: Caolán McNamara
Date: Mon Dec 14 11:36:50 2015 +

Related: rhbz#1290014 gtk3: use gtk_window_set_modal on modal dialogs

which makes modal dialogs (which are most of them) place correctly
under wayland. Modeless ones are still uselessly shoved far to the
left, but this makes things near usable and gives the same "graying
into the bg" effect for the main window as other gtk apps

Summary: Incorrect display of inserted pictures
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

File with pictures incorrectly displayed

A student sent me her work with screencaps inside, but they doesn't display as
they should.
You can open the document I'll attach, right-click on a picture and choose to
edit with external program (for me it was Paint.net) to see what the picture
really looks like.

Reproducible with LO 5.1.0.1, Win 8.1

Can anybody reproduce such an issue with a new file from scratch?

For me not reproducible with LO 5.1.0.1, Win 8.1

On which Operating System do you have this issue?

Steps I have done:
1. Open WRITER
2. Write a few words (or take any sample text)
3. Activate Record Changes (button in the toolbar or EDIT -> TRACK CHANGES ->
RECORD CHANGES)
4. Make several changes with some time interruption
5. Save the file
6. Open MANAGE CHANGES (Manage Changes button in the toolbar or EDIT -> TRACK
CHANGES -> MANAGE CHANGES -> tab LIST)
7. Sort the column Date by a double mouse click on the column header (word
"Date")

Result: Changes are correctly sorted by time.
