The fix for bug 96993 fixes this bug too in master branch:
- with the patch: LO Draw has the background of the pdf and the imported pdf is
readable
- reverting locally the commit: no background.

So closing as duplicate of bug 96993.
I asked for a backport to 5.1 branch on bug 96993.

Best regards. JBF

A somewhat similar feature is available in MS Office with the Ctrl-F1 shortcut

In the elements sidebar, if user moves the cursor to next item in the sidebar
while a tooltip is being shown the text is updated but the tooltip keeps at the
same place. It is not being rendered beside the element where cursor is.

To simulate:
1. Move cursor to cosh() item in functions category
2. While the tooltip is being shown, move the cursor to cot() item.

You will notice the tooltip keeps beside of cosh() item, but it shows text of
cot() item.

On making a right click at a row and then making a right click at a column I'm
noticing that the complete row is still selected while the column is not
selected (works also vice-versa). Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Calc and make a right click at any row (at a cell where the numbers
are).
2. Click at an empty place at the menu bar to cause the context menu to
disappear.
3. Make a right click at any column (at a cell where the letters are).

Please try resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
Usually it's enough renaming/deleting the file
"user/registrymodifications.xcu", it affect all the options in
Menu/Tools/Options, and the files "user/basic/dialog.xlc" and "scrip.xlc" are
overwritten, additionally custom colors in "user/config/standard.soc" are lost.

OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Hi,

I tried the 5.1.0.1 rc version and it crashed on me, so I had to uninstall it
and return back to some 5.0.X version. I tried the 5.1.0.3 today and had the
same problem.

It starts properly and shows me the preview of the previous documents I've
opened. But when I press calc or writer on the left side it's showing me
something about a segfault and closes. When I start it the next time it will
actually show me a recovery window.

I'm testing it on windows 7 if that's relevant.

Char highlight: ODT filters

Export merges the two background attribute.

... which adds another property that exports to the offending
fo:background-color attribute, and was added in LO 5.0... that's
just too much of a coincidence...

... alright this reproduces the problem from scratch:

Sub Main

c.setString("foo bar baz")

c.goRight(4, false)
c.goRight(3, true)

msgbox(c.getString())

c.CharBackColor = 0

In this case, all Italian strings are translated. So, the problem is that the
status doesn't allow to correct show the

Is it correct?

The same for png. DPI value does not affect on anything (but should affect on

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97492] New: FORMATTING: Writer gradually becomes slow, especially w.r.t applying styles

2016-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97492

Bug ID: 97492
Summary: FORMATTING: Writer gradually becomes slow, especially
w.r.t applying styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyal...@technion.ac.il

I am working on documents which were originally imported from MS Word (but I've
been copy-pasting those files and editing versions of them for years now). They
are in Hebrew. They're not so large (~10 pages typically) and have maybe one
embedded image.

In LO 4.x, everything was hunky-dory, so to speak, and I was editing with ease.
Suddently, with LO 5.x, I've began to experience gradual slowdown as I work.
This is in the responsiveness of LO in general - it becomes more sluggish - but
most of all when it comes to chaging paragraph styles. It gets to the point of
me having to wait 10-15 seconds - on a fairly recent Core i5, 3.4 GHz and lots
of RAM - to switch from Heading 2 to Heading 3 and back. If I shut down the app
- not just the document, but all document windows - and restart it, It's like I
reset the slowness level to a reasonable value.

At first I thought this had something to do with Paragraph style previews, so I
disabled those, but there wasn't a noticeable effect. I also tried another
computer, same phenomenon basically. I do think it's worse when the style pane
is open, though.

I'm not sure if I'm barking up the right tree w.r.t. where the problem lies -
maybe it has nothing to do with styles and that's just a symptom - but it is
making use of LO almost intolerable.

That is in line with what I remember from user feed back in all kind of
situations. This might be a valid reason to let accessibility prevail over the
length of the menu (which indeed is significant, but thanks to clear grouping,
good to digest).

I was making a backtrace (comment 10), but I have got no answer about it and I
don't know if the backtrace is useful. This case was reproduceable for me in
two different environments (win and linux).

If you can't see something in this backtrace, I have to look after a new
reproduceable situation in my new file that I have written from scratch. This
is not so easy for me, I have to take some personal informations out of the
file, find a error thats not happens at one time and set up the debugging.
Thats why I will be lucky to have some informations about making the backtrace
better.

Best regards
Udo

BookTitle (paragraph)
Title (paragraph)
Title Char (paragraph)

All of the other styles, both built in and custom, display fine.

It appears that the word "Title" is the common denominator.

The file opens after several minutes, and several clicks on "Retry". The
message "General I/O error" is not true, as it isn't an error at all. bug 35543
comment 20 explains why it was done that way.

Actually the definition of csv is not comma (for one reason it is used in
europe as decimal separator. The old csv standard used ";", and later it was
defined that you can use any character as long as it does not appear in the
values (except if enclosed by ""). You will see that most import filters allow
you to specify which delimiter to use.

I too have a parallel installation (debug and production), and GetConfigPath()
delivers the right directories to me. Test if your configs are separated,
modify the configuration in one installation and make sure it is not changed in
the other.

if you look at the code, you will see several places where GetConfigPath() is
used, so I sure hope it works.

Yes ideally we should have UNO commands for those as well.

Small caps UNO command bug report (bug 87914). Maybe you can modify the
enhancement to include making the Lowercase and Uppercase effect commands.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97457] Paragraph indentation on the second line

2016-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97457

Unfortunately it can't be accomplished by spaces or tabs, since with a
proportional font the indentation size depends on the size of the first word in
the paragraph.

The only way (I know) to do it now is by adding a white word in the beginning
of the second line - the same word as the first in the paragraph. Not a clean
workaround, and it needs to be done only after all the text is done :(

Yes, I was wrong, you are correct. The Character dialog Font Effects apply a
"revertable" style to selection, while the Change case UNO commands actually
change the codepoint for the glyphs.

Still seems like this could be made more consistent.

And generating Small caps (for fonts that support them, or by style) should be
available as an UNO command, but that is another issue.

Hi aybuke,

Yes my last comment was to be a further patch to be sent in to correct the
current output, which is likely invalid CSV, as its using semi-colons rather
than commas.

Regarding that patch, unfortunately it isnt giving me the output, as i dont
think "OUString path(SvtPathOptions().GetConfigPath());" is extracting the
correct path for the config directory in my parallel installation, where i've
set 'UserInstallation=$SYSUSERCONFIG/libreofficedev/4_5_2' in bootstraprc.

The 'Styles' menu is for creating, applying, and modifying paragraph and
character styles, while the Format menu allows you to apply direct formatting
(Bold, Text Alignment, Line Spacing, etc), so why would removing direct
formatting be in a different menu? But even if we did move 'Clear direct
formatting' to the 'Styles' menu, the Format menu would still be at 24 items.

Clear formatting at the Styles menu wouldn't be the best fit, although
it sounds good on the first glance.

There have been good a couple of reasons to change the menu. When it has
negative bearing on your personal workflow we apologize. But in general the
function is not what the average user needs. And as an expert user you can
easily modify your menu per Tool > Customize.

Please don't understand the objection to your report as ignorance. It is a
valuable contribution and will count for the next iteration, if there are more
complaints.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52478] Draw: Zoom slider’s upper limit is excessive for such a tiny control

2016-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52478

I am working on this bug.

The problem is not an exponential. The zoom changes linear with the slider
position in two parts. The first part goes from 1% to 100% and occupies the
first half of the slider. The second part that occupies the second half of the
slider goes from 100% to max zoom. For draw and impress this means 100% to
3000%. Therefore this part has a very high constant slope. In combination with
the snapping point, that turns the zoom to 100% again, if you move the slider
very little it is impossible to reach zooms between 100% and 200% with the
slider.

> inappropriate.

Not sure why moving it from 2 levels deep to 3 levels deep is considered
absolutely inappropriate, but here was my reasoning for doing so.

1) Space: There are over the recommended 20 items in the 1st level
2) Consolidation: Grouping all the character level effects under one menu (
Format > Text )

As there are only 12 entries in the Format > Text menu, the 5 entries from the
Change Case submenu could be moved up a level.

According to the OOo stats, Lowercase and Uppercase are the only entries in the
5 that are highly used, which is why both are now available, but hidden by
default, in the formatting toolbar.

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #2)

The .uno:ChangeCaseToLower and .uno:ChangeCaseToUpper commands are permanent
case changes that affect the characters' ascii values, while the 'Capitals' and
'Lowercase' effects are character style level effects and dont have equivalent
uno commands to my knowledge.

Comment on last line

There is an annoying issue when commenting the last word in a text.
By clicking on "Enter" to start a new line, the comment will follow and point
to the newly created line.

See attached screenshoots to understand.

A nice feature, solving partially this problem, would be to make it possible to
move comments.

You are not mistaken, we need the registration for windows. I am however
confused we already register file types so it seems to be adding the extra file
types, what did I miss?

This is actually not that easy for an easy hack, at least for Linux-based
newbies, as building a LibreOffice that would include desktop integration with
file type registration is clearly harder for a newbie than doing a normal
developer-only build without any packages. As has been demonstrated plainly the
recent weeks.

Add to that then that the vast majority of our users are on Windows, and it is
for Windows that it presumably would be of greater usefulness to associate with
KingSoft types. Or am I mistaken?

This seems to have begun at the below commit.
Adding Cc: to Michael Stahl; Could you possibly take a look at this one? Thanks

During bibisecting are Writer's Character and Paragraph content panels
collapsed even when I expand them and close and reopen Writer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97204] Sum Function Results are not Shown

2016-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97204

Same phenomenon here as in
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97369#c30 , inserting and
deleting a row in a "suitable" place, and then forcing a recalc, helps. Just
for developer information, not intended as a useful workaround for end-users.

The crashing line was:

- DocumentType eDocType = pDoc ? pDoc->GetDocumentType() :
DOCUMENT_TYPE_IMPRESS;
- aRepresentation = ( ( eDocType == DOCUMENT_TYPE_IMPRESS )

That suggests that pDoc can be a nullptr.
Fix is in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/22006/
