[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64918] UI EDITING Find by format doesn't show non-integer font sizes on the Find Screen
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64918 --- Comment #12 from Luke Kendall --- Confirmed also while trying to workaround https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99014, in LO 5.1.1.3. I have occasional single paragraphs, or whole pages, that are using the old (source) template's typeface (Times New Roman) but the new font size (10.5 rather than 14pt), even though the paragraphs are the new body text style ("CSP - Chapter Body Style") I'm hesitant to try to find all occurrences of Times New Roman 14pt and change them all to Georgia, because of this bug: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62603#add_comment I note that Find&Replace for fractional font sizes fails. I can see Times New Roman 10.5pt text in my document, but if I search for it using the F&R dialogue, it fails, reporting: Times New Roman, 11pt Search key not found That statement is true, but unfortunately, F&R was supposed to be searching for 10.5pt text, as selected from the menu of available font sizes, and for which many instances could be found. It appears that F&R may also be converting fractional font sizes to integer sizes before performing its search! Searches for Times New Roman, 14pt, for example do work. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99014] New: FORMATTING: Pasting text marked with comments is wrongly formatted
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99014 Bug ID: 99014 Summary: FORMATTING: Pasting text marked with comments is wrongly formatted Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.1.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au Created attachment 124003 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=124003&action=edit Screen shot showing typical font error and rare blank font display I selected the entire text of my novel and pasted it into a new document template which contained the chapter and body text paragraph styles I wished to use. I then used Find & Replace with Paragraph Styles selected to find and then change all instances of "Text Body" to "CSP - Chapter Body Style". That worked fine, but on scanning the document, I find that in every place where a section of text was marked with one or more comments, the marked text in the body of the document was formatted wrongly. Despite being ostensibly "CSP - Chapter Body Style", the font is far too large. I note that the typeface appears to have been changed to Times New Roman and 14pt (the format in the old template, from which the text was copied). Although sometimes if I select the commented text, blank is displayed in the fields that normally show the typeface and font size. Please see the attached screen shot. Clearing the direct formatting "fixes" the problem, but wipes out any use of italics etc. Manually selecting the text and choosing the typeface and then the style corrects the problem. I've marked this as a major problem, as in a long document (with a thousand or so comments), and it causes a lot of busy-work. As I scan further, I see other errors have occurred, too: occasional single paragraphs, or whole pages, that are using the old template's typeface (Times New Roman) but the new font size (10.5 rather than 14pt), even though the paragraphs are the new body text style ("CSP - Chapter Body Style"). I'm hesitant to try to find&replace all occurrences of Times New Roman 14pt to change them all to Georgia, because of this bug: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62603#add_comment Incidentally, although I can see Times New Roman 10.5pt text in my document, if I search for it using the F&R dialogue, it fails, reporting: Times New Roman, 11pt Search key not found That's true. Unfortunately, F&R was supposed to be searching for 10.5pt TNR, as selected from the menu of available font sizes, and for which many instances could be found. It appears that F&R may also be converting fractional font sizes to integer sizes before performing its search! Searches for Times New Roman, 14pt, for example do work. I'll file a separate bug report for this part. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99013] New: EDITING: Find&Replace settings chosen for one document affects searches in all open documents
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99013 Bug ID: 99013 Summary: EDITING: Find&Replace settings chosen for one document affects searches in all open documents Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.1.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au I was astonished when I tried searching in one document ("Doc B") for text I was pretty sure was there, the quick-search wasn't finding any text I tried. I discovered it was because in another document ("Doc A"), I was doing a Find&Replace for a Format (Times New Roman 10.5pt). That should be a per-document setting, not applied to every open document! After opening the F&R panel in the current document ("Doc B") and selecting "No Format", all the searches then succeeded. Perhaps the bug is stranger than I think, though: when I went back to the document where I'm searching for 10.5pt Times New Roman ("Doc A"), expecting that turning off searching by format in Doc B would have turned it off in Doc A - it hadn't! Could the last settings for a F&R in some document be inherited as the initial settings in the next opened document? That's also bad: the F&R should start off from a standard default setting. Although I can see that there would be *some* use cases where the current surprising behaviour would be useful. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65509] FILESAVE "Automatically save" is not running
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65509 --- Comment #28 from rob --- This is still broken for me on version 4.3.3.2 in debian and version 4.3.7.2 in windows. I have lost half a days work MULTIPLE TIMES. I'm not sure if this report is saying now that it's been fixed or if the autosave feature has been REMOVED? I'm wondering if i'll gain anything by upgrading to the latest version--since I cannot reliably reproduce the bug, the only way to confirm is to see if I lose more swathes of work. I uploaded a question to stackexchange on it since I thought it was a user error at first. http://tinyurl.com/huogel3 As you can see, it sometimes does observe the autosave settings, and sometimes doesn't. I do not know what the conditions are, but right now I have an instance of libreoffice calc open and I type in changes and hit enter, and nothing in the main or backup directory gets updated within the configured timeframe. Earlier today when I did the same test, it updated just fine! > As for the priority - I'm changing it for a couple reasons: > 1) Clearly not affecting a ton of people, a couple dupes over two years; A serious bug felt by one or two people is still a serious bug. I also don't think this is a reliable indicator of how many people are running into it. That assumes the people who experience it are all filing reports. > 2) You're not going to lose any data unless you specifically say "no" to > saving when you try to close - if LibrOffice crashes, your auto recovery > works fine Who said auto recovery works fine? The autosaves aren't happening which means the backups to the backup directory aren't being saved to recover from it (that's where autorecovery gets it, right?). And I've lost tons of progress after autorecovery. I don't even understand how autorecovery works--even if I try to cancel my way past it it offers to save a backup. It's not intuitive. Not to mention, on multiple occasions the app hasn't closed cleanly. My PC never crashes yet the amount of times I've seen autorecovery pop up is ridiculous. > 3) This was a *new* feature in 4.1 - worst case we should just remove it as > it never worked right (something I'll probably do just to avoid confusion) Just to clarify, you're proposing to remove an elementary feature like autosaving of documents that most people would naturally assume to exist in any modern office application? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99006 Bug ID: 99006 Summary: FORMATTING: Freeze then Crash when attempting to Insert Index/Table of Contents and editing a Style. Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.0.5 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tooneys...@yahoo.com In any sized document with any amount of text, attempts to insert or edit the index or table of contents of documents result in the program freezing and the process and application to enter the "Not Responding" state. Closing the window will bring up a dialog box asking if I would like to end the process. This happens regardless of document - new, old, doesn't matter, it will affect it. The same issue occurs when attempting to edit a Style, whether that style is new or preexisting. It should be noted that I encountered the exact same error with almost the exact same peramaters in Apache Open Office version 4.1.2. I was able to get the Style Editing window to appear and briefly play with it before the program hung. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times hoping to fix the issue, but it persists, in both the stable 5.0.0.5 release update and the rolling release version 5.1.1.3. GNOME official apps, and esp. their latest versions (3.18-3.20). In LO we have separate gtk2/gtk3 backends, and we can take different routes for each one. For gtk3 I believe we should follow the latest upstream UI trends, even if some other apps still don't follow them. > - file managers (files [unity] Indeed. Ubuntu stuck with an ancient (and probably heavily patched) version of it. > We should ideally mimic the behaviour found in the find toolbar field, as i > assume the context menu generated there is from the OS-level and not from > the app-level. That's not the case, as I mentioned already in comment 12. That's our own menu, and *we* take the decision there based on the platform. > But similar to other cross-platfrom apps (Word, iTunes, > Chrome), we can unilaterally decide that we want shortcuts to appear in the > context menu and that is also fine (ideally with the option to change this > in the options dialog). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74377] UI: Add keyboard shortcuts to context menus
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74377 --- Comment #22 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips --- (In reply to Maxim Monastirsky from comment #12) > But for Linux there are many apps that show shortcuts - see comment 4 (and I > can add Qt Creator and Nautilus 3.20 to that list, so I'm not sure what > should be the default there. As Qt Creator is a Qt/KDE app, i would expect it to have shortcut keys, as i had mentioned previously that Linux KDE showed shortcuts in the find toolbar field. The KDE HIG states, "Assign shortcut keys to the most frequently used menu items (Ctrl+)". https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usability/HIG/ContextMenu When it comes to Gtk/Gnome apps, the majority of apps that i've tried dont have shortcuts - file managers (files [unity], nemo [cinammon], thunar [xfce], caja [mate], pcmanfm [lxde]), text editors (gedit, pluma, mousepad, leafpad), office apps (abiword, gnumeric), image viewers (gThumb, EoG 3.10 [non-CSD version], Eye of Mate), others (calculator, galculator, xpad, atril). The ones i found with shortcuts are CSD (client-side decoration) apps like gpicview, gnome-mplayer, EoG 3.18, evince, rhythmbox, and archive manager. We should ideally mimic the behaviour found in the find toolbar field, as i assume the context menu generated there is from the OS-level and not from the app-level. But similar to other cross-platfrom apps (Word, iTunes, Chrome), we can unilaterally decide that we want shortcuts to appear in the context menu and that is also fine (ideally with the option to change this in the options dialog). (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #19) > Not to muddy the water, but by short-cut are we referring just to keyboard > shortcuts--or also including keyboard accelerators?
