(Note that my Libreoffice is in french, so translations may be approximate.)

Since other items in formula bar aren't useful to me, and the formula bar isn't
modifiable, I tried adding only the input line field to another tool bar.
This is to save display space, since in the formula bar the input line is
unusefully long, but it is often useful to display.

I found the "input line" field ("Ligne de saisie"[fr]) under applications under
the "add" button.
(It shows a popup message "Utilisez cette barre pour saisir des formules"[fr]
 = "Use this bar to enter formulas"[en].)
Once selected, this field displays in the bar the uneditable text
 "Ligne de saisie"[fr] = "Input line"[en].

What was expected : it would show the same field that appears in the formula
bar.

Note that if the formula bar were editable like the other tool bars, and/or
combinable with other tool bars on the same line, this would no longer be a
problem.

When I open LibreOffice, I can type text using ibus input methods, however,
after I switched windows and back to LibreOffice, ibus input methods no longer

That's kinda weird:

Simplified, I when my one calc file would have this:
Sheet1:
A1: foo
A2: bar
A3: baz

Sheet2:
A1: =Sheet1.A1, giving "FOO"
A2: =Sheet1.A2, giving "BAR"
A3: =Sheet1.A3, giving "BAZ"


When I now change e.g. Sheet2.A2 to "=Sheet1.A1" it gives "foo", but when I
change it back to "=Sheet1.A2" it gives again "BAR".

I just tried few things... it seems that when I create a new sheet, it doesn't
happen for me either.

Even on the same sheet where I have it, it doesn't happen when I set the "=..."
in other cells... only in a range of cells in some collumn (but even there not
in all rows)...

It seems as if something would have set capital letters for these cells, but I
think that's not possible in Calc, is it?
At least I wouldn't know how to remove it again.

However, check what ldd instdir/program/libssl3.so gives, it should list
instdir/program/libnss3.so instead of /usr/lib/libnss3.so unless you have a
weird build configuration which the autogen options you gave don't indicate.

If instdir/program/libnss3.so does not exist then something is wrong, if it
does exist but still /usr/lib/libnss3.so is taken instead then something more
is wrong..

Btw, I hope for you that your /tmp/ file system isn't cleared regularly, e.g.
wiped upon reboot.

This bug at least partly seems to occur because of the difference of handling
margins and headers/footers by MS Office and LO desribed in bug 33304.

It could still be a bug in the conversion logic, so I'm not closing this as a

It seems to be a problem with libnss3 because I can see:
/usr/lib/libnss3.so: version `NSS_3.19.1' not found (required by
/tmp/build/libreoffice/libreoffice-5.1.2.2/instdir/program/libssl3.so)

Maybe the libnss3 version installed on my system is not the good one.
Well, I have the mozilla-nss-3.15.2 package installed on my system containing
the /usr/lib/libnss3.so library:

Thanks for the quick analysisnot sure i agree with the assessment though.

This document was originally a word doc.
a year or 2 ago, I switched to LibreOffice.

Based on your show changes info I took the example and accepted all changes
(under track changes) and the issue still exists.
In general I don't send out docs with show changes so thats not a good option.

If the file is corruptwhy doesn't Libre Writer complain at all about the
file.   I thought it was designed to read Microsoft Word files (note this was
18 months ago)..

Like I said I cut out sections and then it looks right, but then I paste back
in that sections and its messed up do i have to return entire sections of
the document to make it work?   This is a 200 page document

All I know is that if you check the documents in MS Word it shows different
margins. When submitting digital files (vs. print), someone who is a stickler
for formatting (lots of people in my profession at least) would just check the
margins, see that it's not set to what they demanded, and proceed to refuse to
read the content.yes, this stuff does in fact happen.

Are we sure that this is the case? Normally the margins are just exported fine.
Measured/set different, but the visual result is the same.
Or are there reproducible cases that I miss?

It's hard to think that this is an enhancement request when it causes some
serious interop issues that prevent LibreOffice from being used in professional
settings where formatting is everything (where the content of a document can
and will be entirely ignored absent 100% compliance to specific formatting
requirements). Although we may all agree that it's unfortunate that MSO sets
some of these standards, the reality is that, at least in my profession, this
is a serious hindrance of ever relying on LibreOffice for legal work in my
jurisdiction.

Because I am personally impacted by this bug I'll refrain from changing the
status but I hope that others who are unbiased can at least consider my point
above.

I'd suggest somewhere between normal - medium to major - high is appropriate
considering really basic documents can be impacted with interop issues.

This occurs with current (5.0.3.2) and previous version of Writer on windows
and linux machines. While converting poetry files from lwp format, sentences
which do not contain an initial capital letter on the first word in the
original file have one when they are converted to doc/docx/rtf. All other
formatting converts perfectly.

ie. original: the red bird, converted: The red bird

I have 2000 files to convert for a poet but I can't because this change affects
the artistic integrity of his work.

Of course, it is sometimes extra work. In general one starts setting general
lay out (page and other styles) before finishing text flow details.
And if header/footers are added later on, the size is know from the settings
(marginal exceptions as borders maybe aside).
Since it's my expectation that changing the current behaviour is a major^2
effort (with consequences in all areas of the software) I would not expect too
much of this. (Of course apart from why he choice for the situation as is, has
been made.) Just saying to manage expectations.

Just got to use the newly downloaded LibreOffice:
  Version: 5.1.3.2

  Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

First thing I noticed was that one can now grab the right screen edge to resize
the window without the SideBar stretching ever-so-slowly to catch up. Kudos for
the speed-up!

Of course, this seems to come at a price. I stretch the window to a size
appropriate for the document I'm working on. Then I Alt+Tab to a different app
and immediately see the Writer window snap back to its previous width.

I tried a number of things to make the size "stick" (e.g. saving before
switching to another app hoping to force a write) but to no avail.

Neither of the "Use Open GL" options is checked by the way, but I've read too
many stories about turning that on to try it.

And it also occurs in the following:
- The label text entry field under File -> New -> Labels -> Label text
- The file comments field under File -> Properties -> Description

Additionally, the test step 4 ("text selection right after drag-and-dropping
impossible", see comment 4) fails with the following (although steps 1 to 3
pass):
- Comments in Writer documents
- The formula editor (in its bottom pane)


Tested with the above Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1+, as well as with following on
64-bit Linux Mint 17.1:
Version: 5.0.6.2
Build ID: 1:5.0.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty1
Locale: de-DE (en_GB.UTF-8)

So, I'm changing the affected component to "UI", since more than one is

The same issue (all four steps) also occurs in text fields on dialogues (opened
from within BASIC). I guess that the same kind of editor is used for both, the
BASIC code editor and those text fields.

just a procedural problem:

But the question is another: the usability interface.
In fact, to apply a soundtrack to an entire presentation, it would be enough of
a button "sound loops", that automatically do disable the sound for each single
slide and it and its start each new slide.


Then there's another thing: using the same presentation to create new ones, the
sound tab keeps in memory the songs previously used, even if these have been
removed from hard drive and not allows to understand its path. This is
particularly problematic if the sound has the same name.

and there is difference in of PDF Export Dialog and PDF generated by Printing
Dialog. In my cases, PDF generated by printing dialog is much larger (usually
few MB) while those generated by Export Dialog (although, only one slide per
page) is up to 500 kb.

a) MSO sets margins relative to page (ignoring header/footer)

Margin Inconsistency Between LibreOffice and MSO

LibreOffice's behavior with margins is inconsistent with Microsoft Office
causing some interop issues.

Steps:
1. Create new writer document;
2. Change margins to 1" all the way around the document;
3. Insert a footer
4. Save as docx
5. Close document
6. Open document in MSO 2013
7. Check margins

While the document appears to look okay (in terms of length), the margins have
changed to 1.39" on top and bottom. If you change these to 1" (which is
important in professional setting where details matter) then you'll see the
page length changes. I'm not sure if this was a hack to get same page length or
what, but if you do the same steps in MSO 2013 (new page, 1" margins, insert
footer) you'll see that the 1" margin is maintained after inserting the footer.

See attached document for example. Open in Writer you'll see 1" all the way
around, open it in writer and you'll see 1" all the way around, in 2013 you'll
see 1.39" on top and bottom.

As a related note, I think the underlying issue of bug 99639 was that the
margins were correctly brought in as 1" but when this is done, the page length
of the sample goes from 10 pages to 9.25" about.

ctrl+shift+end is called when the text box is active so it might all boil down

The Recent Documents -> Clear List action clears MRU from the user profile. Any
additional items available and listed on the Load URL dropdown are controlled
by the *OS*.

Use *OS* provided resource to clear the list, e.g. on Windows--Start Menu ->
Recent Items -> "Clear recent items list".  The LibreOffice "Load URL" dropdown
will be empty on next relaunch of LibreOffice.

Not a Bug, and not a particularly necessary enhancement to try to provide cross
platform to link the LibreOffice Clear List action to corresponding function of
OS.

Here's what I did in LibreOffice 5.1.1.3 (x64 Windows). Unless I'm mistaken, I
believe the behavior is normal, and different from what is described in the
comments (although it might impact different versions).

- Have some files in the document history
- Click the combo button in the URL bar
- The document history is clearly visible (which is normal)
- Clear the document history
- Click the combo button again
- Nothing is shown (again, as expected)

At this point, the autocompletion will NOT pull entries from the now-cleared
document history, but only autocomplete according to the path typed and
existing file.
In this case, it will even autocomplete with files that LibreOffice can't open,
so it's only based on the file system and not on the document history at all.

Of course, there's a chance that this issue appeared in a later version (or was
fixed before) but there's no version information on the bug report so it's hard
to tell.

There are many font, kerning and clipping problems in this files, but I think
they are not related to this report.
Only one thing is left unfixed in the scope of this report: incorrect skew
transformations of the images, but this is a rare case in real PDF files.

This is a feature i previously saw and used in Google Sheets and hadnt
submitted an enhancement for it. Excel also has the same functionality, though
different in its implementation.

In Google Sheets, you select the rows/columns you want to move and then the
mouse pointer changes to a move hand when you are over any of those rows/column
headings, and then drag and drop moves the selection.

In Excel, you select the rows/columns and then the mouse cursor appears as a
move cursor when the mouse is on any of the four borders of the selection, and
then drag and drop moves the selection.

This moving mode could also be initialized through an entry in the heading
context menu for those unaware of the functionality and also having a shortcut
key for keyboard shortcut users who are selecting columns and rows with Shift +
Spacebar and Ctrl + Spacebar.
