[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101818] Add pasting options similar to Microsoft products
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101818 --- Comment #5 from Aron Budea--- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1) > No, this is silly everything does not have to have Icons. While that's true in general, in this case I don't agree. LibreOffice's Paste Special dialog is very powerful, but the many choices are equally confusing. Yesterday I tried copying cells from Calc into Writer, these were my options: -calc8 -GDI metafile -Bitmap -HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) -DDE Link -Unformatted text -Formatted text (RTF) If you're a novice user who tries to put some data inside a table from Calc into Writer, what do you do? While I agree that having the option of several choices is good (though I'm not convinced all of them make a lot of sense in this particular example), having a basic dialog with the most meaningful choices that are easy to interpret would be extremely helpful, with the option to switch to the current, "expert" dialog. Additionally, I believe LibreOffice's choices don't have the "Merge" option that is in the suggestion, so the question whether or not that could be useful to implement is still open. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I have neither found in the documentation nor by searching through different menus. This is a testimonial of a not working documentation since this is a key feature in the functionality of writer. Also I do not quite understand what you mean by "Conceptual there is no other way to get a different header/footer then different other page settings"? There is quite a good explanation by Zenaan Harkness on 2016-08-28 11:42:05 UTC. If you know how to approach this problem please edit the attached file so each page can have an individual footer whilst preserving page format. But because the problem is hard to describe the descriptions seem different but we all mean the same thing. And I did not ask for user help since: 1. This is an inherent feature and therefore needs the attention of devs 2. As Mr. Harkness did not know to do it either how would anybody who has no long term experience find this out by him-/herself? Also please excuse the change of the status but I received no notification of your previous comment so I changed it back since I thought there was no explanation for the change. Sadly both aren't easy to implement. The error dialog is displayed by the file I/O code, and the start center has no control on it (you can see the same dialog by running from the terminal "soffice /path/to/non-existent-file"). So I guess there is no easy way to make it handle recent docs. Remove the recent doc after the error is much easier to implement, but then again you'll have some issues. e.g. trying to open password-protected docx (but not odt), then cancelling the password prompt is also considered as open-error internally, but we probably don't want to remove the recent entry just because of that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I tend to disagree. I installed an LO 4.x to test the same presentation. Tested file: "Presentation with multiple animated GIFs causing LO Impress slowdown" Tested versions (installed in parallel with identical settings - any hardware acceleration disabled): Works quite good, although switching between animated slides in edit mode is with a delay (it takes time to load image). Believe that's the point of OP, it can't. Internally if the Writer module is running the WRITER_DOCSERVICE takes precedence over the file extension in selecting the text filter to open the comma separated value .CSV file (a.k.a "character" separated value). With WRITER_DOCSERVICE set (because the call to open comes from a Writer session) the document is not passed to the Text import filter for opening into Calc. Meaning--if you want to open it in Writer, launch Writer and open it there--regardless of handling for the file extension. Otherwise the file extension will trigger the text import filter from any other launch scenario. And why I don't see much need to change anything. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Some users may not like this behaviour, as a file could be on an external source (e.g. flash drive) that was plugged in to access and then when the external source is no longer plugged in, its entry gets removed from the list. So lets see what UX thinks. The alternative solution that puts the user in full control is to modify the error dialog to have an option to remove the entry from the list. Lapses using Writer and Cursor direction in Hebrew Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.0.4 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mkamp...@zahav.net.il I installed 5.2 release on several machines 2 windows 10 OS and one windows 7 Each machines has different hardware But this is not a hardware issue as it occurs a different machines I had 2 major bugs 1) Every few seconds a major lapse in response time causing the system to freeze for about 30-60 seconds It feels like a memory problem. Increasing the virtual memory helps slightly. 2) I almost exclusively write in Hebrew. Since the 5.2 update the arrows keys have switched directions. If I press < the cursor will move right (in Hebrew) and if I press > the cursor will move left. This seems to certainly be a bug because I have since reverted to 5.15 and essentially no problems BTW I had already removed the registrymodifications.xcu to force its recontruction. That had solved a previous bug (long response time) but the 5/2 has created its own problems as described - on several machines Yours MK -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101647] GSoC table template: The table template read is not visible in menu item "Autoformat Styles.."
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101647 Regina Henschelchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED Ever confirmed|1 |0 Severity|normal |enhancement --- Comment #2 from Regina Henschel --- "Enhancement" might be better. The user can add a table template via "Autoformat Styles" and then use this in all of his documents. If he assigns this template, it is listed in the new tab "Tables" in the Style window and he can use it from there for the next table in the same document. If the user opens a file which has a table template created by someone else, he sees it in the Style window, but the user does not know, how to make it available for a different document. For true styles like paragraph or character styles, you can load the styles from an existing document to make them available in your new document. But that does not work for the table "style". There should be something like "Add table template to personal table template collection." or the load style mechanism can be extended to table templates. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101116] TEMPLATE MANAGER: managed template form fields are not correctly exposed to assistive technologies
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101116 --- Comment #4 from Alex ARNAUD--- (In reply to Jean-Philippe MENGUAL from comment #3) > Hi, Hi Jean-Philippe and all > Has the patch fixed this bug? Thank you very much to the developer. The patches resolve the following issue : - The place holder text "search" is now correctly sent - The push button "settings" is correctly labeled The remaining issues are : - All buttons are exposed as "push button". A "push button" is for a blind user a button which opens a contextual menu. As I understood, only the "settings" button should be a "push button" - The settings push button doesn't allow to use enter key or space bar to activate it. It's not logic for blind or partially sighted people to press down arrow key to activate a push button. - The two lists to filter the content are not bound to a label, so It's not understandable at first time. The lists should be inside a panel named "filter" or something like that. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101792] BUGS, BUGS, BUGS - no end!!!
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101792 steve -_-changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INVALID --- Comment #7 from steve -_- --- On the danger of causing more rampage: poft: please keep in mind that currently there are over 10k confirmed bugs for LO. The change you are seeing one of those if fairly high. But the only way to improve this situation is fix bugs and that can only be done one bug at a time. Which is why there is the rule to post one bug per issue. And that makes sense since otherwise things get out of hand much too quickly. So I suggest to follow the described general debugging steps (reset user profile) etc and if any issues persist after that, file new bugs. And when doing that, please: * post exact reproduce steps * post a sample document with which you are seeing the problem (should the problem be related to a document) * provide as much info as possible Random rampage will neither help you nor the devs. Closing this as invalid. Since violating the one bug per issue rule. >From the tone of your initial report I take your frustration level is on 10 already. So if you do not want to go through this process, you don't have to of course. But again, keep in mind that that's the only way to improve status quo and make a better office suite for other humans to follow. And I can assure you one last thing: I have been following LO QA for a few years now and got into that stressful time consuming occupation out of the same frustration you are in. And things have improved a lot. Just recently a lot of regressions have been fixed. The regression count went down from ~760 to 634 atm. This is a huge accomplishment but if you are not involved it may look like nothing is happening behind the scenes. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100777] Inconsistent "Smart Cursor" action when navigating or selecting paragraphs
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100777 --- Comment #17 from Paul--- (In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #14) > I can't understand why a different behavior with different key combination > is inconsistency. Hello, Here's the way I view this. The current behavior is not analogous to other behavior internal to LO. For instance, if I use the Left key, the cursor goes back one character. If I overlay the Shift key to that action, I Select back one character. If I use Ctrl-Left, the same dynamic holds true with regard to whole words. The Shift key acts as an overlay to an existing action, adding the Selection function. The same is true of the Up arrow. It will take you up one line. And when the Shift key is added, it will Select up one line. All these dynamics hold true for the Right and Down keys as well. Adding the Shift key simply adds the Select function to the existing underlying function. This holds true when adding the Ctrl key to the Down action- the action is shifted to the paragraph level, but remains consistent. The only thing that changes is the Selection function is added with the Shift key. But there is one glaring exception - the Ctrl-Up function is not analogous to the Ctrl-Shift-Up function. Adding the Shift key not only adds the Selection function, it changes the basic underlying action. But in this case, adding the Shift key brings the Ctrl-Up action back into conformity to all the other functions listed here. It is the underlying action - Ctrl-Up - that for some reason violates the rule of every other related navigation within LO. I expect the Shift key merely to add the Select function. Here it doesn't, because it is correct, but the underlying action has, IME, been inconsistently designed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
