Thanks for the interest.

No, I never knew it existed or turned off recalculate. Recalculation on file
load, to my surprise, is set to never recalculate for both Excel 97 and ODF
files (this is my home PC, I think I may have worked at home on that project).
In my line of work, I do large spreadsheets with all sorts of formulae from
acquisition costs to discount levels, so turning off recalculate would be
suicidal !
2 causes jump to mind:
- the recovery process saved the file with some default settings (sometimes it
happens, I also work with 10 calc files open, each several sheets deep).
- from an update

I'll check Monday on the PC at work.

As for how I copied the data, I used a file from a previous project, deleted
and wrote the new data. Not sure I dragged top down in the formulae cell ranges
or used them as they were..

I could reproduce the crash on 3rd save with the first attachment (don't need
to touch anything, just save three times) in v5.1.4.2 and v5.1.5.2 / Windows 7.
No crash in v5.2.0.4 or v5.2.1.2.
After checking with older versions, no crash in v4.4.0.3, but the crash is
there in v5.0.0.5.

Since there's a chance the file might be corrupt, I'd be hesitant to close it
as WORKSFORME, but a bibisect or reverse bibisect can now be run on the issue.

Hisanshams, in the meantime I'd suggest testing with v5.2 versions to see if
there's any sign the file could be corrupt.

Tried this exactly in Ubuntu 16.04 VM with current master, and still couldn't
reproduce. So I don't know what's wrong on your system. Maybe it depends on
system locale?

Anyway, there seems to be an earlier report of this in Bug 98713, so I'll mark
this as a duplicate, and let's continue the discussion there.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101882] New: LO Writer is crashing when opening file(s)

2016-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101882

Bug ID: 101882
Summary: LO Writer is crashing when opening file(s)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: birqu...@web.de

Created attachment 127138
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=127138=edit
No Writer on screen but running - TaskManager

LO is crashing when I want to open more than two files at once. Task manager
shows more than one instance opened, but no window. After manually closing all
LO tasks and trying to open another file (or two) the restore-window is shown.
If restoring the files they are normally opened.
After I closed the files and want to start another or the same two files again
the restore-window is opened. Only one of the last files is restored. Now in
task manager again appear a lot of tasks (for every file two and one unpaired).
If I try to open another file the crash-report is sent. After the crash-report
the restore-window is appears with the two last files I tried to open.
Now LO is in a crash circle - after restoring it crashes and reports and
restores and crashes and reports and restores ... sorry only three times - LO
restores another file from an earlier attempt.

I think there are about 10 or 15 crash-reports sent from my computer - since I
try to work ...

One of the crashreports:
http://crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/71d33c32-6a5b-4939-a076-9fa0700e4a24

I attached a screenshot from Windows 8.1 Pro 64 (all updates) TaskManager -
maybe it helps.

I hope, my description is clear enough to understand it.

The real size of screen elements depend on screen resolution and pixel density.
In Windows you usually set the resolution, but don't do much with pixel
density, therefore sizes aren't accurate.

For example my monitor has 1920x1200 resolution, and it has 87 pixels/inch.
Windows default is 96 DPI (and I can't find a way to set it smaller, I can only
make it larger), so the cm scaling on my ruler is slightly larger than 1 cm.
Please adjust scaling in Windows to match your screen's, and test again.

I'm setting this as NOTABUG.
If you still think something is off, return status to UNCONFIRMED with further
explanation.

My distribution is Gentoo Linux and libreoffice is the only package on my
system that requires openldap. I don't even know what ldap is and I don't think
I need it on my desktop/laptop computers. I would greately prefer to disable
ldap support for libreoffice (and for my system in general) if possible.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89683] delimited text files ('csv', 'tsv', etc.) are opened as text documents if Writer is the active window

2016-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89683

Formats that can be opened by more than one app, such as html rtf and plain
text (which is what a csv file is, as there is no way to "detect" csv files by
content) are opened in the currently active app. That's an intentional change
made in LO, as noted by Kohei at
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2014-July/062540.html

To me it is understandable and consistent behavior, as if you open a .csv file
from inside gedit, you don't expect it to open in Calc, because that's a
separate app. So the same should apply to Writer (which isn't exactly a
separate app technically, but it is for the end user). That's a way to open the
file in Writer for someone who need it, instead of telling him to scroll a long
list of formats. And open Calc to be able to open the file from there is just
one click away.

I however do understand why some people prefer that a plain text files with a
.csv extension would always open in Calc. But instead of fighting endlessly on
what the default behavior should be, I suggest to make this configurable, so
hopefully everyone will be happy.

Yes the context menu is definitely a shorter distance to travel and it may be
useful to have it in modules where most users regularly name shapes and the
context menu is small. Another option is to assign a simple shortcut key to it
(e.g. F2), like we've done with F4 opening the position and size dialog in
impress/draw.

Regarding the location of the item in the menu not being consistent across
modules, i had already noticed that it wasnt in the menu in Calc and it is on
my to do list to fix. Draw's menus havent been reorganized yet, so nothing is
consistent there with other modules.

compatibility mode doesnt have any 1.2 extended features in it, so shouldnt it

Example ODT, containing a screenshot of it's own rendering on my computer.

See my first comment for the software I used.

Just did another test with:

OS: openSUSE 42.1

LibreOffice:
https://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/5.2.0/rpm/x86_64/LibreOffice_5.2.0_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz

LanguageTool:
https://languagetool.org/download/LanguageTool-3.4.oxt

And I found out
--- under which conditions the bug happends ---

- use justified formatting

- fill a line with letters, so there's no needless space left for justified
formatting

- put two spaces behind the last word of the line and they won't be highlighted
by LanguageTool, neither be shown by the LibreOffice "Non-printing Characters"
setting.

Please have a look at the attached ODT example file. It also contains a
screenshot of it's own rendering on my computer.

Every time text is apparently pasted from Chromium (and possibly other
applications, though I am not certain of this) a dialog box pops up asking me
to "Select the language to be used for import". I don't even know what effect
this has—presumably it is for spell-checking, which is unnecessary for my
purpose. I have not been able to find any way to disable this, or set a default
action.

Also if doing this, as in bug 89685 for "Spreadsheets", the filter group for
"Text documents" as well as the Writer and Calc filter segments will need
entries.

The option is to have it centered and no other way. :D

Yes it would be useful for all options which have text in the toolbar and
having a listbox in the Tools > Options > View > User Interface called Toolbar
text size would be good.

Yes my mention of a11y was for users with low-vision and those who would be
more comfortable clicking larger buttons with the mouse. Would also be useful
for those using tablets and having to click with their fingers.

Harald stated in comment 3 that the issue was a regression, so it used to work
in 3.3.0 and is broken presently. So i would be in favour of returning the old

Agree, adding an additional option of Text centered *under* Icons would be a
valid format, the drawback is consumption of vertical space.

But to be of more use, the font size (using 'system' font) might need to be
adjustable--perhaps provide small, medium, large size (if not to specific

We presently have 3 styles for buttons to appear in toolbars, which are
configurable in the Toolbars tab of the Customization dialog.

1) Icons only (this is the default)
2) Text only
3) Icons & text on the left

We should have an option for Icons & text below, as it takes up less horizontal
space than the text on the left option and increases the click surface
vertical. I think it would be a great option for users unfamiliar with the
icons, as well as a11y users.

your code from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 10. File associations may work

Hi Lothar,

Thanks - can confirm the problem. Already in 3.6.7.2 / 3.3.0.4, but those are
not so reliable in hiding the section with your step 5...

Do you know a version where it worked fine?

I tried with a paragraph in between the sections and some more variations,
section without protection. Turns out that when there is a (empty) paragraph
after place where you insert the section, that it works fine.
Can you pls check that?

Apparently no consensus, maybe consent .. However, when we arrive at the stage
that we can implement customized workspaces, there will be abundant room and
time for discussion. I might even join myself ;) So keep an eye on it!

Try options and learn a lot? I appreciated that :)

Then the Calc version of Paste Special could be a direction to look at?

I can imagine scenario's where Keep source and Merge easily brake proper use of
styles, but that's a different discussion all together.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101694] Formula displays wrong number

2016-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101694

The cell value of U5 is stored in the file as 10.2426643, opening the file does
not recalculate unless activated under Options or manually. F9 on cell U5
works, so does Shift+Ctrl+F9 to recalculate all.

Question remains, how was the not recalculated value saved to the document? Was
there once AutoCalculate disabled when pasting the formula? Any details on how
you copied data?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101853] UI: Double click page style, causes pages above "current page " to be changed

2016-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101853

I agree - when the first paragraph starts on the previous page, then perhaps
not bring up the proposed dialog box.

In that case, an alternative dialog box should still be displayed, but telling
the user that the double-clicked page style will apply to pages above the
current page (and of course ideally state the page range to which the page
style, if applied, will apply).
