[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102782] New: Java Options

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102782

Bug ID: 102782
   Summary: Java Options
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lo...@skofic.eu

This is a basic usability and convenience issue which is relevant to every
average user and therefore should be fixed:

In Options > LibreOffice > Advanced > Java Options in most cases the user sees
only one item (Oracle Corporation ...) in the main window. As consequence of
this the user is mislead to oversee that there is a very small circle which
must be checked first to select the installed JRE...the user thinks the
displayed JRE is already activated for LO.

I believe this circle is not checked automatically if there is only one item in
the list. Maybe this should be fixed. But at least the visibility of the
checking control should be improved.

The problem is when we change the mapping from LO-Line-1 0,05 to Excel-Line-6
we lost this witdh information (0,05-0,50), and this mapping was before my
change.

Then i prefer we change the default to 0,75.

I give that to the design-team for decision, and then i hope i get a time slice
for change.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102784] New: Enhance removetooltip_markups.sh script, and add a proper commit hook

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102784

Bug ID: 102784
Summary: Enhance removetooltip_markups.sh script, and add a
proper commit hook
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: muhammet.k...@pardus.org.tr

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/37.0
Build Identifier:

This is a spin off from tdf#101549

There were a number of glade .ui files that have tooltip_text and
tooltip_markup both set and both set to be translated, and tooltip_markup has
been removed to reduce translation burdens and because it has the exact same
text as tooltip_text. Where there is no matching tooltip_text, the
tooltip_markup was converted into tooltip_text.

Check this commit to see how the .ui files were changed:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=652c97b8216c03676bbee08f749e2164e8808c8d

The current script (bin/removetooltip_markups.sh) for this job goes through all
.ui files and removes the lines which contain the tooltip_markup string.

This task consists of two steps:

1. Enhance the current script so that it checks to confirm that a tooltip_text
entry is available and then remove tooltip_markup, but if tooltip_text isnt
available, it should rename tooltip_markup to tooltip_text.

2. Add a commit hook to prevent introduction of new tooltip_markup in .ui
files. It should warn the committer, and advise to use only tooltip_text where
necessary.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99483] Marque cell selection should be removed after paste

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99483

(In reply to mahfiaz from comment #22)
> yousuf, not true. Try Ctrl+C, paste using Enter, and try to paste again with
> Ctrl+V. Clipboard is empty.

Do not mix things up: Both copy or cut lets me paste infinitely with
shift+insert and ctrl+V. But the ants fall asleep after Enter. (Version:
5.2.1.2 @Linux)

Interesting fact: The area/clipboard indicator becomes a "bug" with random
values. Fill an area with "=rand()", copy all, and _paste as number_ somewhere.
Random values are scrambled after each operation with the sheet but the
clipboard remains what it was.

Comparing the behavior with other tools beyond Excel it turns out that Calligra
Sheets has no ants at all and the clipboard is never cleared. Paste per enter
is not available.
Gnumeric has ants that march until escape is pressed. After pasting the
clipboard is still valid. There is no paste per enter. The "=rand()" test
copy/pastes the function meaning the original is never changed and the pasted
content has new numbers (same in Calligra). When I paste as number a dialog
pops up and stops the ants. Clipboard is not cleared in this situation.

Personally I would keep the current behavior since the benefit of the
indication outweigh the minor annoyances to press escape (yes, I do this too).

I have no idea how dxf worked before, but if it worked in LO and not in AOO and
it was added in LO only for Writer and not in the general primitive case for
GraphicObject, it might have been removed. Would need to search in older
versions how dxf was imported/interpreted and add that more globally to
GraphicPrimitive decomposition/rendering, that would make dxf work in all apps
immediately.

Well, yes, the line patterns are the same, but may be arranged a little bit
different. The dash/dot length are correct. There are two lines around the
square. Start point for the lines seems to be the left edge. In LO, the 1st
line part at the following edge is split around the edge, while Opera seems to
start the 2nd edge with repeating the gap.
Not sure what SVG exactly defines, but I am not sure if this an error at all

@Aron: Yes, it explains how it came to this. Still, that the graphic is now
cropped, is a correct interpretation of the values in the safed file. The error
was in the old versions. Still I can see that people do not want changed
behaviour, but in this case it should be rare and I would opt for better
keeping the fix and the correct cropping. It should be corrected for this one
file by editing.

Tested by copying the graphic to draw. Moving it there or zooming in/out
repaint various errors, strange. Breaking it up shows the correct content
(context menu/break). Back to Writer, the same strange errors occur.
Thus, a workaround is copy/paste to draw, break, group and copy/paste back.
The Metafile from Win is an unstable beast (see Bug 47243). The bibisect shows
a commit that added a formally uninterpreted action - I doubt that this leaded
to this errors.

Keyword needsUXEval is set and ux-advice is CC'ed so the design team is aware
of this ticket.

To summarize: aiming for compatibility with MSO the options are
1) change the predefined border size from 0.05 to 0.75
2) map hairlines to something else, I guess that means to save/export 0.05 in a
different style

Solution 1) sounds very simple, and users can change the line width back to
0.05 - ending up in the same trouble but intentionally in this case. Probably I
do not understand 2 but isn't this the best solution?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79787] Normal cell borders are showing dashed/ dotted when export to xlsx/xls and reopen in MSO

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79787

--- Comment #41 from Samuel Mehrbrodt (CIB) ---
> 1) change the predefined border size from 0.05 to 0.75

Please, before we discuss changing the default line thickness to something
else, try *printing* a table with some text in it with the two different line
thicknesses (Please do print, as you won't see much difference on the screen).

* 0.05
* 0.75

I did that and I would very much prefer sticking with the 0.05. The 0.75 line
is much thicker and makes reading the text in the table harder.

I know that you can always change it back, but most users will stick with the
default line thickness.

Also note that the roundtrip LO -> xlsx -> LO works fine. The problem is only
when opening it in Excel.
We definitely need to live with some differences here, since the line styles in
Excel differ quite a lot from the ones in Calc. Attachment 127693 has all the
details.

I think the problem is that we misuse radio buttons here. Radio buttons are
usually used when at least one option must be checked. So there will always be
a default selection which you can change to something else.

But in this case, there might be no selection at all. Maybe a simple dropdown
listbox would be a better fit in this case?

Thank you Aron for suggestion. I apply this trick since a long time.
But I have a lot of files (tecnichal sheet, forms) since 10 years ago and
periodically I have to print one of them...
It's really tedious.
Believe me, some times I'm asking to myself "for what purpose I'm continuing to

The numbering style is also copied for insert right. And the same happens with
colored background, or any other styles, where keeping the style is likely
wanted.

The best solution is perhaps to make an exception for numbering - and bullets
to be consistent, and to not clean this style on insert. Other opinions?

EDITED Steps to reproduce:
1. Create the following lines of data and create an auto-filter on the first
line:

1 FRUIT
2 Apple
3 Banana
4 Apple

2. Filter out the centre line using the auto-filter FRUIT=Apple
3. Use the mouse click and drag to select a block of cells covering the two
remaining cells (ie 2A and 4A, both Apple). This also selects the hidden cell
3A (Banana).
4. Press CTRL-B and both visible cells are set BOLD
5. Press CTRL-B again

Current behavior:
Nothing happens

Expected behavior:
The second CTRL-B should set visible cells to NOT BOLD.

Really? Isn't the checkbox above used to disable Java, and the radio buttons
below to select the version when the checkbox is active? If I'm wrong another
entry "(o) None" (either as radio button or an item in the dropdown) would make

definitively excludes the bibisected change since WMF import is not used. Using
that graphic directly shows the same strange behaviour.

The majority searches for values followed by ~25% who want to find everything.
At third position with 18% users want to find formulas first of all.

My take on this is simplicity: The quick search should be clean without
controls to steer the workflow. Finding everything makes sense here. And in the
full dialog an option to restrict the results to values or formulas etc. makes
sense, at best better exposed as Bruce said in comment 0.

1:5.2.1~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial0). It is impossible to save letters such a ą, ę, ł,
ó, ż, ź in editable fields.

Created attachment 127721

Sample database to test bug

I've done some more testing, creating a very simple database and found out that
if the spreadsheet has 42 or more records, the bug is present.
That might explain why the biblio database works fine as it contains only a few
record entries.

The spreadsheet I used is attached. Register it as a database, mail merge and
you should come across the bug.
Afterwards if you remove one record from the spreadsheet, mail merge again, the
bug should have disappeared.

Hopefully that's enough to determine what is causing the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95790] FORMATTING: Copy/paste of text sometimes loses formatting

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95790

Yes. "copy-paste-3-(source).png" shows the text that's being pasted into the
target document from the source document.

My guess is that by hitting Enter with the cursor placed immediately to the
right of the hypertext link [9], that font size and colour is somehow still
attached to the empty line. And because that line is adjacent to the
small-blue font style, for some reason that style is propagated into the whole
paragraph that is the text "Leeth paused, looking at the spaces between the
people."

It seems very wrong to me, that the style of any of the pasted text should
change. I think there's a big difference in intent between pasting formatted
text, and typing in fresh text or pasting in unformatted text.

Please forgive me for asking, but is there any chance you placed the cursor in
front of "LibreOffice" on the next line, instead of after "import/export
filters.[8][9]" when inserting the newline? It's interesting that you get a
different result to me. Would you expect that to behave differently between
Linux and Windows?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89818] Long image inserted at the end of page goes beyond margin and over footer

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89818

I have retried the issue with LO 5.1.2 on Mac OS X and with LO 5.1.5 on Windows
10.

The issue(s) basically remain the same.
There is one observation, though. When inserting the image (step 1) at various
places in the document, a correct page wrap (i.e. to the following page) is
achieved when the instert location is very low on the page.

All issues remain the same except for step 1 (inserting the high and narrow
image on page 2):
a) inserting at the beginning of the first "Duis autem ..." paragraph shows
margin overflow.
b) inserting the picture at the beginning of the "Ut wisi ..." paragraph
inserts the picture so that it touches the physical end of the page (maximum
page margin overflow) thus faking that it would belong to the paragraph before.
c) inserting at the beginning of the second "Duis autem ..." paragraph wraps
the picture and the text to the following page.

I am not aware whether I have been testing the inserting step in such detail in
the first place when reporting the issue, so it may have been there already.

To sum up, all the problems are still there: Big picture inserting does not
reliably work, text inserting/deleting may move pictures on following pages
beyond the page margins, and may cause pictures to look as if they are
connected to the paragraph above when doing so.

Good question - glad that OpenGL does it right. Ultimately, the clearing
behaviour of virtual-devices and windows is something we hoped to optimize with
the hyper-accelerated glClear - but that turns out to be rather hard due to the
code structure, and allocation calling conventions - whereby we allocate 1x1
pixel VirtualDevices and then re-allocate them subsequently, then draw a
rectangle on them to clear etc. etc.

So de-bonging the OutputDevice/VirtualDevice initialization and clearing
behaviour to be remotely efficient would be something wonderful to do ;-)

I got new information from my users: version 5.1.5 significantly decreases the
problem frequency (no new reports from 30 upgraded users), which is unexpected
since there is no report of the bug being fixed on 5.1.5 ...

The previous user reports I got were about version 5.0.3 freezing but users
mistakenly reported being on version 5.1.5

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101433] Embedded StarView metafile is corrupted when inserted into document canvas

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101433

--- Comment #11 from Armin Le Grand (CIB) ---
@Michael: You are right, when forcing to OpenGL, the initialization is right -
this shows even more that the error is not in the rendering pipeline on
system-independent part, but on VCL-handling of VirtualDevice ;\ sigh... Any
hnt what might have changed there?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101433] Embedded StarView metafile is corrupted when inserted into document canvas

2016-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101433

I feel the problem is in the reuse of cached virtual devices which ended up
with a non-default raster mode, so that the

// copy RasterOp (e.g. may be ROP_XOR on destination)
 mpContent->SetRasterOp(mrOutDev.GetRasterOp());

from the above commit particularly exposes the problem that the mrOutDev has a
possibly arbitrary starting RasterMode
