[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103176] New: .~lock File should have another name
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103176 Bug ID: 103176 Summary: .~lock File should have another name Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.2.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Extensions Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: al.w...@wess-edv.de Description: In the Windows Explorer the .~lock file is always the first in the list (assuming you sort by name what might be most common), so all other files are shifted when it is created or removed. So the risk of opening the wrong file immediately after closing e.g. a writer document is big (especially when you are working very fast). Steps to Reproduce: 1. open / close a document 2. 3. Actual Results: (the best is to work with two screens, one with the LO document, the other with the Windows Explorer)close the document (the .~lock file still exists for a short time), position the mouse over the new file to open in explorer, but in the meantime the .~lock file is removed, all items in the explorer list are shifted one up andyou click (and open) the wrong file. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101835 --- Comment #6 from V Stuart Foote --- I could see some utility to adding a tab panel to the Format Cells dialog, but see no need to follow MS example of adding the check-box the the alignment panel as it does not belong there. Also, one could argue that it does *not* belong on the Sidebar -> Properties deck -> Alignment content panel and should be in a content panel of its own with the rest of the Merge and Split actions. Beyond either of these, adding the check-box to the Format Cells -> Alignment Panel would be trivial. It is already that way in the Sidebar deck so would introduce consistency--I simply don't see that as the correct place to implement the Merge/Split actions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101835 --- Comment #4 from brucehohl --- If I may "argue" my case :) > I wouldn't do so because merging/splitting cells is a feature of the table > and not the cell itself. The Excel solution is not necessarily the best. I offer the examples of 'Merge cells' being included in the LO Sidebar and the Excel Format Cells as an indication that others thought 'Merge cells' should be available with other cell formatting tools as opposed to elsewhere. In my use of LO I primarily use Format Cells (Ctrl+1) as it provides a single place for nearly all "Cell" formatting needs ... except Merge Cells. > the Merge Cells command is present as a top level Format menu action If 'Merge Cells' is added to Format Cells than I suggest it be removed from the top level menu. While I hope the Text drop down menus will always be available to explore features I find them to be an inefficient way to access features in day to day use compared to Icon tool bars or Tool palettes like 'Format Cells' or the Sidebar. The usefulness of tool palettes is higher if everything needed is at hand, hence, the enhancement request. > No existing panel in the Format Cells dialog is appropriate for the Merge > Cell actions, and not clear there would be benefit to implementing such a tab. The request is not for a new tab but to follow Excel's lead and place 'Merge Cells' in the Alignment Tab. Anyone who has used Excel in the last few decades won't be surprised by its placement in the Alignment tab. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100137] Wrong Hyperlinks in Calc when opening the Calc document over a Symlink
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100137 --- Comment #24 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Martin Nathansen from comment #23) > I agree with Noels comment on patch set 5: "I suspect that this works on > WIndows because Windows is converting the shortcut to an absolute path > before handing it to LibreOffice, whereas Linux is not." Yes, that's absolutely correct > However, since we cannot fix this issue on the Linux file system, it needs > to be fixed in LibreOffice. > > For us in Munich there are two regressions regarding this issue: > (1) when migrating from MS Windows to Linux and > (2) when upgrading from our old Limux Basisclient to a newer one. > > IMO this is really a bug which needs to be fixed in the LO master. Whereas this statement is absolutely incorrect. This is not a bug. You (or your users) are used to some way of working with documents, that is offered by Windows: using shortcuts. Shortcuts are files that Explorer.exe (shell) opens, not OS or LO. Please take note of this fact! Explorer.exe (or rather Shell32.dll) parses the contents of the file, reads the original path to file, and then starts associated program with original path to file. Migrating to Linux, you see its Symlink and expect it to behave the same. And when it does not, you assume it's a bug. But it isn't. Symlink is not, and wasn't designed to be, the same as Windows Shortcut. It isn't processed by shell, but its name is passed to program by shell as is. The program (LO) passes it to OS file management functions. And those functions (on OS level) retarget to original file. Linux Symlinks work exactly like Windows Symlinks. Only Windows doesn't have UI to work with them, while Linux has. Windows Shortcuts are another feature. It has its counterpart on Linux: shell scripts. You may create shell scripts which contain command to open original file, and put them wherever you need. Just Linux doesn't have convenient UI to cteate such "shortcuts". Of course, program *is able* to do some extra work by itself to detect that the file is actually symlink, and change its processing. But the real problem is, that doing so, it will disable native mode of operation, that users of the OS are expecting. In essence, the correct way (if learning correct way of the OS is not an option) would be to patch your distro's shell to provide a means of creation "proper" shell shortcuts. This could be supplemented by extending LO command line, e.g. to be able to take shell scripts with hashbang like #!path/to/soffice that would contain name(s) of documents to open. Then, the "shell links patch" would create such scripts. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103156] Some AutoCorrect Replacements for German (Switzerland, Liechtenstein) are Wrong.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103156 --- Comment #2 from Harald Koester --- (In reply to Samuel Mehrbrodt (CIB) from comment #1) > (In reply to Harald Koester from comment #0) > > Description: > > In Switzerland and Liechtenstein the spelling of several German words is > > different to the spelling of German in other countries, where German is > > spoken. This affects words with the letter 'ß'. In Switzerland and > > Liechtenstein this letter is not used. Instead they use a double-s ('ss'). > > In the AutoCorrect replacement list for German (Switzerland, Liechtenstein) > > this difference is not considered. > > Do you know whether this affects "German - Austria" and "German - > Luxembourg" too? In Austria, Luxembourg and Belgium the 'ß' is used like in Germany. Hence no changes in the AutoCorrect replacement list for this states are necessary. Problems may occur with 'foreign' keyboards that don't have an 'ß' and a user likes to edit a correct German text. This is only possible with additional efforts, e. g. via Special Characters or with macros. An AutoCorrect function that replaces an 'ss' by an 'ß' for the respective words would be fine for this case. It could be instantiated and added to the list when a jump occurred, and once "clicked" to return to the initial cell, it could be removed from the list. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98259] [META] Keyboard shortcuts and accelerators bugs and enhancements
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98259 --- Comment #11 from HansPL --- (In reply to Yousuf Philips (jay) from comment #10) > […] As stated above we do try as much as possible not to change accelerators > > as much as possible. Sorry, but I do not find this to be true. At least not in my German LO, so this is probably more of an l10n issue. Take for instance the context menu (menu key or right mouse button) in Writer, which triggered my above rant: From 5.1.4.2 to 5.2.2.2 seven out of ten accelerators were changed where there was absolutely no need: • Einfügen from i to n • Inhalte einfügen from I to h • Zeichen… from c to Z • Absatz… from b to t • Aufzählungszeichen from u to ä • Absatzvorlage from nothing to e • Synonyme from m to S And where could I customize this context menu? Which is not an option anyway because I use LO in different versions on five different Linux machines (Mint LMDE Mate) plus sometimes on colleague's Windows machines… (By the way, in 5.2.2.2 the opened context menu blocks Alt+Print so I cannot take a screenshot of that menu — in 4.3.3.2 and 5.1.4.2 it works.) This is just the one of several examples which enraged me this morning. Or, for instance the same context menu in Writer inside a table to edit the table's properties: • In Writer 4.3.3.2 I typed Menu Alt+E for Tabelle… • In Writer 5.1.4.2 Einfügen was changed from i to e so it now collided with renamed Tabelleneigenschaften, opening a submenu, forcing me to Menu Alt+E Left Alt+E. • In Writer 5.2.2.2 Tabelleneigenschaften was changed from e to i so the collision is now removed and the two accelerators are exactly the opposite from those of 4.3.3.2. Please note that now in 5.2.2.2 in the context menu Einfügen has e when the cursor is in a table, but n when outside a table (see above). What the **?! Or, for instance, take Calc's Search&Replace menu where I often need to activate »In allen Tabellen suchen« (Search in all tables): • In Calc 4.3.3.2 I typed Ctrl-H Alt+O Alt+C • In Calc 5.1.4.2 the menu is basically the same but just that last accelerator c got lost so it was now Ctrl+H Alt+O Tab Tab Tab Tab Tab Space. • In Calc 5.2.2.2 the menu was redesigned, this checkbox moved up from Options but no underlined characters at all anymore! They only appear when pressing Alt which I take to be another new bug, certainly no feature. My checkbox is renamed to »Alle Tabellen» and still has no accelerator, so it is now Ctrl+H Tab Tab Tab Tab Space. What will it be next week? Can you feel my pain? Do you really expect users to comb through all menus every few weeks and write a dozen bug reports about moved accelerators? Just compiling these examples took a good hour. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44282] [FORMATING] [TOC] space missing between text and outline numbering
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44282 --- Comment #38 from abhilash300si...@gmail.com --- Thanks for pointing out. I agree. The previous patch added a space irrespective of the fact whether or not numbering was done( For example - in attached file toc.odt, the previous patch also added a space to Heading-1 "Null" which wasn't even numbered and hence didn't require spacing. Comment 6 mentions the same problem). My patch merely made sure that spacing is applied only when numbering is available( leaving the Heading 1 "Null" in toc.odt and taking care of all other Headings). So, what in addition needs to be done is - if the user has specified something between and ( a space or some other character ) we don't need the default spacing to be applied. And in all other cases we need the default spacing to be applied. Is that so? Please confirm, and I will commit a patch soon accordingly. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

This is not a bug. All the new conditional formats are not representable in ODF 1.2 therefore we need to write some extensions. Extensions are only allowed in 1.2 extended. Hopefully we get the extensions for the conditional format into 1.3. IN general we only recommend 1.2 extended as you can otherwise loose features. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
